Unter dem Titel “Welcome To Horrorwood: Under Fire” enthält  die Platte drei zusätzliche Bonus-Tracks: Neben einem Remix sowie einer Akustik-Fassung von “The Shower Scene” gibt es auch den neuen Song “Meat & Greet”, zu dem die US-Amerikaner ein Musikvideo gedreht haben.

Die Dark Psychedelic Rock-Band VOODOO BEACH hat mit “Immer Noch” einen weiteren Video-Clip ihres kommenden Albums “Wonderful Life” veröffentlicht.

“”Immer Noch” ist wahrscheinlich das einzige wahre Liebeslied auf dem Album. Naja… was heißt schon “wahr”? Es ist natürlich nach einer Trennung entstanden, aber das Lied erzählt die Geschichte nicht aus der klassischen Perspektive des Verlassenen. Stattdessen erzählt er aus der eher ungewöhnlichen Sicht desjenigen, der den anderen verlässt”, erklärt die Band.

Im Oktober ist mit “Meine Seele” der dritte Vorab-Track erschienen. Als Gast-Sänger wird hier Hendrik Otremba (MESSER) mit.

Zuvor hat die Band nach dem Video-Clip zu “Die Hand” mit “Wonderful Life” den Titeltrack als Lyric-Video veröffentlicht. Der Song – mit Gast-Sänger John Moods – sei nichts weniger als eine Geschichte über das Ende der Welt.

“Auch wenn das Lied von der Unfähigkeit des Menschen spricht, den drohenden Untergang rechtzeitig zu erkennen und abzuwenden, will es nie mit dem moralischen Zeigefinger wedeln, sondern bietet Verständnis und Trost im Angesicht der Katastrophe. Genau diese Ambivalenz ist es, die uns dazu veranlasst hat, das Album nach diesem Song zu benennen”, erklärt die Band.

Es ist das erste Album des Berliner Trios, welches aus Sängerin und Gitarristin Heike Rädeker, Bassist John-Hendrik Karsten sowie Drummerin Josephine Oleak besteht.

“Wonderful Life” wurde gemeinsam mit Dennis Juengel aufgenommen und gemixt und von Norman Nietzsche gemastert. Erscheinen wird das Album am 1. Dezember 2023 via Crazysane Records.

Man möchte es nicht glauben, aber im (nett ausgedrückt) konservativen Niederbayern ist in Sachen extremen Metals mehr los, als man denken möchte, auch wenn es so manche Location und den ein oder andere Veteran weniger gibt als noch vor 10 oder 20 Jahren. Eine Konstante sind SUCKING LEECH, die vermutlich dienstälteste Grindcore-Band der Region. Und im Vergleich zu anderen Underground-Bands, die sich entweder aufgelöst haben oder mittlerweile relativ egal geworden sind, definieren sich die Eggenfeldener immer mehr aus.

„Errordynamic“ wütet kompakt, versiert und treffsicher: SUCKING LEECH klingen überraschend skandinavisch.
Und doch: Um SUCKING LEECH war es mit Ausnahme der 2021 Split mit MACABRE DEMISE länger still. Das letzte Album „Sick“ mag fünf Jahre alt werden, SUCKING LEECH haben nichts von ihrem Biss verloren. Im Gegenteil: Das Kurzformat steht der Band äußerst gut zu Gesicht. Sechs Songs in weniger als 15 Minuten, das verspricht Aggression und Fokus. „Errordynamic“ klingt dabei recht skandinavisch: ROTTEN SOUND und AXIS OF DESPAIR dienen als stilistische Eckpfeiler. Crustige Riffs als Basis für sauber ausgearbeitete Songs mit jeder Menge Aggression – SUCKING LEECH ist die Erfahrung anzumerken.

Ein wenig Abwechslung gibt es auch mit den Songs „As Mother Closed My Eyes“, dessen Tremolo-Riffing nach NAPALM DEATH in den frühen 2000ern klingt und „Victim Of The System“, dessen Mainriff eine kleine Verneigung vor DYING FETUS sein könnte. Auch „DOT“ bricht aus den restlichen Songs aus – der einminütige Track ist ungefähr doppelt so schnell wie der Rest der EP und dadurch sehr chaotisch; so als würden SUCKING LEECH dieses Stück kaum beherrschen können. Insgesamt ist viel los in den sechs Songs, gleichzeitig ist der Gesamteindruck ein geschlossener.

SUCKING LEECH haben ihren Biss nicht verloren; im Gegenteil: „Errordynamic“ zeigt die Grindcore-Band auf dem Zenith ihres Schaffens.
„Errordynamic“ strahlt diese „it’s good to be back“-Mentalität aus. SUCKING LEECH klingen, als wäre da viel Aufgestautes; und endlich darf es raus. Mit scharfen Riffs, einer Menge Blast Beats und schnellen Grooves ist die EP ideal für zwischendurch. Schade nur, dass „Errordynamic“ kein Full Length-Album geworden ist. Niederbayern wird oft unterschätzt, und diese vier Musiker sind ein guter Beweis dafür. SUCKING LEECH sind nicht müde, sie sind im besten Alter und präsentieren sich von ihrer Schokoladenseite – auch durch die anständige Produktion und nicht zuletzt ihre Erfahrung. Klarer Fall: Wer Grind gerne crustig mag, sollte diesem Wutsturm eine Chance geben.

Mit einem Video zu “Impending Doom” stellen TENSIDE ein weiteres Stück ihres neuen Albums vor. Als Gast zu hören ist zudem DARKEST HOUR-Frontmann John Henry. „Come Alive Dying“ wird am 19. Januar 2024 veröffentlicht.

Zuvor teilten die Münchner bereits einen Clip zu “Pitch & Gold”, ein Video zu „Come Alive Dying“, einen Clip zu “Shadow To Shine” sowie die beiden Singles “Aim For Paradise” und “Dust Of The Bereaved“.

Für die Produktion ihres 8. Studioalbums haben TENSIDE im bandeigenen Studio in München mit Co-Producer Christoph von Freydorf und mit Kristian „Kohle“ Kohlmannslehner im Kohlekeller Studios zusammengearbeitet. Joseph McQueen hat die Songs abgemischt, Ted Jensen übernahm das Mastering.

Mit “Exogalactic” wird in wenigen Wochen das neue Album der Technical Death / Black Metal-Band XOTH erscheinen. Es ist nach “Invasion of the Tentacube” (2016) und “Interdimensional Invocations” (2019) das dritte Album der US-Amerikaner aus Seattle.

“Exogalactic” wurde von Joe Cincotta im Full Force Studio gemixt und von Julian Silva gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Shindy Reehal. Erscheinen wird das Album am 3. November 2023 via Dawnbreed Records. Vorab gibt es nach dem Track “Sporecraft Zero” nun auch den Song “Manuscripts of Madness” zu hören.

Die Thrash Metal-Band CROSSFIRE hat einen Labeldeal bei Wormholedeath unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Iren ihr neues Album “Switch To Reset” veröffentlichen. Es ist das erste Album der 2012 in Dublin gegründeten Band, die 2018 mit der EP “Bound in Skin” debütierten.

Background/Info: UK-duo Brutalist Architecture In The Sun has been active for numerous years and have released a considerable number of albums and singles. “Loneliness Kills” is their newest opus featuring fourteen songs.

Content: This band brings 80s Electro-Wave music alive in a very personal way. The sound treatments, arrangements and effects are definitely 80s like but the production also has something refreshing.

+ + + : I can’t remember having heard of this band before and feel a bit ashamed. This production stands for maturity while the content is ultra-efficient. They don’t simply emulate 80s electro-Wave standards but adapted these influences into a proper and alluring sound. I personally prefer the ‘harder’ cuts also featuring icy sound treatments. I also have to say a word about the passionate way of singing.

– – – : There’re a few very sweet cuts featured which aren’t my favorites although these cuts also are quite accomplished.

Conclusion: Good-old and alluring Electro-Wave coming from a band deserving more recognition!

Die Post Hardcore-Band DEVIL MAY CARE hat einen neuen Track mit dem Titel “HIMALAYA – Seeinf Death To Feel Alive” bei YouTube hochgeladen.

Anfang September 2023 veröffentlichte die Formation zudem die neue Single “CHAKRA – As Long As I’m Breathing” in Form eines Videoclips bei YouTube veröffentlicht. Mit dem Stück will die Gruppe auf die Situation gehörloser Menschen aufmerksam machen.

Die letzten Wochen sind in meiner Playlist ziemlich finnisch angehaucht gewesen. Waren es zuletzt eher die Jungspunde von MALFORMED und vor allem DISGUISED MALIGNANCE aus dem skandinavischen Land der 1000 Seen, so dürfen es (nach ANIMA HERETICAE) nun doch wieder die arrivierten Musiker von KAUNIS KUOLEMATON richtigstellen, dass Finnland eine lange Tradition in Sachen Extreme Metal hat. Und mit ihrem aktuellen Album “Mielenvalta” erfüllen die seit jeher in ihrer Landessprache singenden Blackened Doom/Death Metaller die Erwartungen.

KAUNIS KUOLEMATON erfüllen auf “Mielenvalta” die Erwartungen
Wie angesprochen erfüllen KAUNIS KUOLEMATON auf “Mielenvalta” die Erwartungen, als dass sie stilistisch (Album für Album) eine Blaupause über ihren eingeschlagenen Weg legen. Angeschwärzte Passagen wechseln sich mit melodischen und düsteren Doom-Death Passagen ab, wobei sich die Band nicht davor scheut, Keyboards und gar leichte elektronische Mittel einzusetzen. Diese bleiben jedoch dezent im Hintergrund und bedienen lediglich die dunkle und mitunter traurige Atmopsphäre. Letztere wird auch durch die gelungenen Clean-Gesang-Passagen von Mikko Heikkilä (DAWN OF SOLACE) bedient, deren Anteil schon beim Vorgänger “Syttyköön toinen aurinko” etwas im Zunehmen begriffen gewesen ist.

Punktuell arbeiten KAUNIS KUOLEMATON Überraschungsmomente ein
Kompositorisch ist zudem eine Zunahme an Mut, was sperrige Aufbauten eines Songs betrifft, festzustellen. So geht nach dem flüssigen und gut gewählten Opener “Surussa uinuva”, der gar LORNA SHORE-Tendezen aufweist, “Elävältä haudattu” durchaus unberechenbar vor. Solche Überraschungsmomente sollten gerade bei gestandenen Bands ein Must-Have sein. Aber auch das mehr oder minder klassische KAUNIS KUOLEMATON-Zusammenspiel von Black Metal-Passagen mit sanften Klängen funktioniert auf “Mielenvalta” nach wie vor sehr gut, wovon man sich nicht nur bei “Peilikuva” überzeugen kann. Auch bei den anderen Songs leisten sich die Finnen kaum grobe Aussetzer – wie etwa der mit Frauen-Vocals besetzte Titeltrack, der geschickt mit Synths spielt und sehr starke, dunkle Growls von Olli Suvanto (TOMB OF FINLAND, END OF AEON) bereithält. Einzig “Aallot” bleibt blasser und wirkt in den Clean-Passagen etwas zu soft. Und auch das abschließende “Hukkunut sydän” hat mit Längen zu kämpfen.

GO AHEAD AND DIE haben am 20. Oktober 2023 ihr neues Album “Unhealthy Mechanisms” herausgebracht – laut Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, KILLER BE KILLED)  ist es “die anarchistischste Platte, an der ich in meiner gesamten Karriere beteiligt war!” Zum Release will der Musiker diese Behauptung mit einem weiteren Clip unterstreichen: “Drug-O-Cop” steht via YouTube bereit.

Mit einem Lyrics-Video zu “Desert Carnage” hat die Band um Igor Amadeus Cavalera und seinen Vater Max nun einen weiteren Song daraus im Netz geteilt. Schon im August stellten GO AHEAD AND DIE ein Video zu ‘Tumors’ vor.

Zack Zack Zack is a Turkish formation driven by Yigit Bakkalbasi and Cemgil Demirtas. They’re based in Vienna (Austria) and this year released their second full length simply entitled “Album 2” on the Austrian Trost Records. The sound mixes Western- and Eastern influences resulting in a fascinating fusion between EBM and Dark-Wave/Pop. “Album 2” took me by surprise and was a perfect opportunity to get in touch with the band. Yigit Bakkalbasi give us more details about the band and the new work.

Q: Can you first of all introduce us to Zack Zack Zack by giving us more details about the origin and members of the band? And how and when did the band see the daylight?

Cemgil was studying Art at Kunstschule Wien and approached me to perform for one of his class projects. The feedback from that performance was so positive that it just kept coming.

Q: You guys are Turkish natives but I think you’re living in Vienna (Austria), right? Do you feel close to the Turkish underground scene -for as far as we can speak about a scene over there, and how important is the place where you’re based for composing this kind of music?

Yigit: We have always been aware of both local and international music scenes, especially those that are underground and Experimental with a DIY spirit. Music has always been at the center of our lives, in both Turkey and Austria.

Yigit: Mostly, when we are composing, it’s organized chaos that eventually becomes a song through different processes, which are not always the same. But mainly, I can say that the songwriting mostly comes from Cemgil, while the studio sounds and recording come from me.

Q: I noticed the band name Zack Zack Zack is meant as an ‘artistic manifesto.’ What is it all about and how do you transpose these ideas into sounds and lyrics?

Yigit: When we started the band, the “Ibiza Tapes” were just happening, and we formulated our band’s name around this significant word. It refers to a particular event that especially Austrians can relate to. The word itself doesn’t mean anything specific; it’s open to interpretation, much like our music.

Q: Tell us about your new album simply entitled “Album 2” and how did the transition from your debut album “Album 1” to the new one happen?

Yigit: The songs in both “Album 1” and “Album 2” come from the same world. We haven’t changed much; we’ve just grown a bit musically. So it was natural for us to name the second album “Album 2.”

Q: According to me, one of the main characteristics is the ‘Eastern’-like touch running through the songs, created by very specific guitar play—or is it a more traditional instrument? It creates an easily recognizable sound DNA, so can you tell us a bit more about it? And tell us a bit more about songwriting and instruments?

Yigit: While making the album, my aim was to fuse Western and Eastern sounds while maintaining Western music standards, so the music could be universally accessible. We have worked with various ethno-music virtuosos who can play Turkish and Persian instruments, as well as modern instruments like the saxophone and guitar. This mixture enriches the listening experience.

Q: A last word about further plans and projects like live performances, new songs, and clips?

Yigit: We are working on a remix album called; “Türlü” that will be released next year (2024), featuring remixes from our dearest friends and great bands such as Solo Ansamblis, Shad Shadows, Emmon, Infecticide, and Fiasko Leitmotiv.

In terms of live performances, there will be a significant shift starting next year. I will take on a more central role, leading a new ensemble of singers and instrumentalists for our live shows. Cemgil will no longer be part of these performances, but I’ll continue to work on Zack Zack Zack’s evolution. And hopefully, the remix album will also be pressed onto some kickass-looking vinyl.

Ritual commemorates significance; a bid for restoration; an intricate bond. After delving into the abyss with Inferno, French darkwave duo Denuit finds themselves within the mist-laden realm of their latest offering: Ritual.

Denuit ventures into uncharted territories of artistic expression with Ritual. Traditional confines of genre dissipate, granting precedence to unfettered creativity and innovation. This transformation finds its counterpart in Lis’s vocals, an eerie reverberation evocative of mythic lamentations, narrating an enthralling duality of realms, as if caught in the evanescent embrace of dusk. This ethereal domain beckons us to confront our vulnerabilities, celebrate our deepest affections, and emerge renewed, unencumbered, and primed to begin anew.

Ivi’s compositions, intensified by haunting electronic notes, curate the ambient backdrop. This soundscape decisively shifts towards the electronic realm, leaving no room for ambiguity. Deep bass notes dominate as synthesizers pulse vibrantly, their modern beats harmoniously intertwined with the time-honored melodies of violins and pianos. The occasional electronic disruption—momentary glitches and sonic sparks—paints a picture of a world precariously balanced on the brink of upheaval. Ultimately, it serves as a deeply felt tribute to Cyberpunk, reveling in both its visual and sound-rich complexities.

The album opens with the plodding Nott, which expresses a deep fear of the night. Amidst this nocturnal setting, the French lyrics, and creeping synths, the world feels slow, as if anesthetized or turned to stone. Shadows clothe the surroundings, and there’s a sense of wandering through foggy limbo. The recurring dread is tied to something sinister lurking in slumber.



Ritual follows: an eerie instrumental evoking the howls of night and descending spirits – setting the perfect scene for a dance around the cauldron.



Zombies unfurls a harrowing tale of living in a house besieged by zombies, symbolizing an onslaught of challenges and adversities. This house, once a cocoon, has transformed into a prison, with nightly echoes of lost souls adding to the chilling atmosphere. The inhabitants live in constant fear and silence, ever trying to escape, yet perpetually surrounded by the lurking “monsters” outside their walls. Morning brings no respite, as madness and insanity continue to rage and threaten their sanctuary.



Your Pain is a loving encomium to a lost loved one:

“Your Pain is a song that I feel deeply connected to,” Ivi says. “I lost my father in April, this song is for him. He was ill for almost a year, sometimes he felt a bit better, some days not.

Your Pain is about his pain, my pain, and pain itself. We do what we can to avoid feelings that we paint as negative, like grief and pain, but I find that letting the pain run through my veins and experiencing it fully helps me to understand it better and enjoy every moment and smile I get on the way to the other side of it. The synth melody on this song expresses my deepest feelings far better than the words I’m sharing with you here.”



The sensuous Skeletons shifts gears a bit, emphasizing a deep sensation that’s felt “in the bones.” This profound link is likened to the enduring nature of “skeletons” and the timeless taste of “eternity.” The repeated phrases reinforce this unyielding and intrinsic bond between the two entities.

Dark Soot struggles with darkness and fear. The recurring imagery of ashes, darkness, and black soot symbolize the emotional turmoil and weight of the singer’s fears, which feel suffocating and inescapable. Despite a yearning for life and light, the singer feels ensnared by shadows and darkness, indicating a deep internal battle between hope and despair. The lyrics also touch on themes of mortality, the passage of time, and the fear of losing one’s soul, adding depth to the emotional landscape of the song.

Flesh describes a visceral experience of physical ailment, with vivid imagery of bacteria and creatures invading the singer’s body. Amidst the torment, the singer grapples with their humanity and identity, pondering if they’ve become a mere vessel for their afflictions.

Fear is about confronting and mastering that which frightens us, transforming it into empowerment and celebrating the ability to find beauty in darkness.

The chanting Sacrifice delves into the complexities of a turbulent relationship marked by intense emotions of love and disdain. A longing for metamorphosis is further highlighted through mystical imagery, where the singer wishes to meld with the other person to become something entirely new – a chimera with hopeful visions. Finally the compelling French-lanaguage Abysses narrates a surreal journey of immersion in another’s gaze, leading to a watery abyss.

The potency of the album Ritual is drawn directly from the depths of their very souls, serving as a heartfelt homage to fervent love and the vibrancy of existence.

Originating from the artistic souls of Ivi Topp and Lis Araignée, Denuit is a testament to their electronic heartbeat. Es passt zum Namen: Langsam doch unablässig pirschen sich VARG an die Top 10 der deutschen Charts heran: “Das Ende aller Lügen” landete 2016 auf Platz 17, im Jahr 2020 folgte Zeichen auf der 16 und nun rückt “Ewige Wacht” auf Nummer 15 vor. Es ist zugleich der höchste Charteinstieg für die Coburger, die damit überraschenderweise sogar BEARTOOTH hinter sich lassen. Deren “The Surface” schneidet mit Rang 24 eher enttäuschend ab und spiegel kaum die vollen Konzerthallen der Frühjahrstour wider, zumal die letzte Platte “Below” (2021) noch auf der Zehn landete.

Drawing from the legacy of luminaries like Bronski Beat, Cabaret Voltaire, She Past Away, DAF, and even the unexpected touches reminiscent of Fine Young Cannibals, Sleek Teeth isn’t just a mosaic of these influences. They take these familiar auditory echoes and mould them, creating a distinctive and foreboding sonic signature that sets them apart. While one can recognize the undertones of these iconic groups, Sleek Teeth stands firmly in its unique identity, demonstrating how they’ve artfully synthesized their influences while introducing their own fresh perspective to the genre.

Als Vorgeschmack steht darüber hinaus ein Clip zum Track “Lonely Planets” bei YouTube bereit.

Die Punk / Rock-Band ENGST stellt ihr neues Album “Irgendwas ist immer” mit einer fünften Single vor: “Wir werden alle sterben” bei YouTube.

Das Stück folgt auf die Vorab-Songs “Kopf hoch” sowie “Umtausch ausgeschlossen” bei YouTube.

Zum Track “Drei Uhr Nachts” hat die Formation schon zuvor einen Clip produziert. Auch “Geschichte schreiben” präsentieren ENGST mit einem Musikvideo bei YouTube. Das Stück folgt auf eine Reihe von Singles, die Ende 2022 und Anfang 2023 veröffentlicht wurden.

Die neue Platte erschien am 20. Oktober 2023 via Arising Empire.

Im Herbst 2023 gehen ENGST darüber hinaus auf Tour, um das neue Material live vorzustellen. Begleitet wird die Formation von BLUTHUND.

Mit “Dysfunctional Assumptions” wird in einigen Tagen die neue EP der britischen Punk Rock-Band CALM. erscheinen. Das Quartett besteht aus Ashley Merritt, Fred Jones, Jamie Lyons und Raphael Souza.

Die Metalcore-Band HOLLOW FRONT hat einen neuen Song mit dem Titel “Over The Cradle” als Video bei YouTube online gestellt.

Zuvor hat die Gruppe das Stück “Will I Run?” als Clip bei YouTube veröffentlicht. Außerdem gibtÄs “We’re All Left Suffering” als Musikvideo bei YouTube im Stream. Entnommen ist der Track wie die vorherige Single “Letting Go” dem Album “The Fear Of Letting Go”.

Erschienen ist die Platte am 27. Oktober 2023 via UNFD auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital.

Mit dem Stück “Letting Go” verabschiedet sich die Formation zugleich von ihrem ehemaligen Gitarrist Dakota Alvarez, welcher ebenfalls noch in dem Stück zu hören ist. Sänger Tyler Tate erklärt:

“Ursprünglich war ‘Letting Go’ eher mit der Idee des Loslassens einer vergangenen romantischen Beziehung im Hinterkopf geschrieben. Eine Person, die herausfindet, wie sie sich von jemandem, den sie geliebt hat, lösen kann, weil es nichts mehr gibt, woran sie sich festhalten kann……und so ist es dann auch gekommen…
Aber nachdem [Sänger/Gitarrist] Dakota [Alvaraez] die Band verlassen hatte, bekam der Song eine ganz neue Bedeutung für mich. Als es für mich an der Zeit war, meine Parts zu schreiben, begann ich, den Song aus einer neuen Perspektive zu sehen. Es wurde zu einem Song darüber, dass Dakota Hollow Front loslassen und auf eigene Faust losziehen muss.

Vielleicht sprach er über eine Ex, als er den Text schrieb, aber als ich die Worte ‘We let our guard down / The passion’s gone now’ hörte, konnte ich mich sofort damit identifizieren, nur auf eine andere Art, als er es beabsichtigt hatte. Der ganze Schmerz über seinen Weggang kam zum Vorschein. Meine Worte richteten sich nun an Dakota. Ich sagte ihm, wie sehr es mir leid tat, dass er gegangen war, dass es zu viel für ihn geworden war, denn ich hätte nie gedacht, dass ich ihn auch verlieren würde. Ich hatte wirklich geglaubt, dass Dakota und ich auf lange Sicht zusammenarbeiten würden, dass wir in 10 bis 20 Jahren immer noch zusammen Musik machen würden. Aber manchmal läuft das Leben eben nicht so, wie man es geplant hat. Und das ist in Ordnung. Man hebt die Scherben auf und macht weiter. Man lässt den Schmerz los und macht weiter.”

XASTHUR Vordenker, Multiinstrumentalist und Sänger Scott Conner alias Malefic ging auf seinem zweiten offiziellen Album "The Funeral of Being" (2003) einen großen Schritt weiter auf dem rauen, harschen und furchteinflößenden, aber dennoch melancholischen Weg, der seine Band von den meisten Vertretern der US-Black-Metal-Szene klar unterschied. Trotz des ebenso einzigartigen wie einsamen Ansatzes gilt "The Funeral of Being" noch immer als ein Eckpfeiler und Klassiker des schwarzmetallischen amerikanischen Untergrunds. XASTHUR wurden ursprünglich 1995 von Sänger und Multiinstrumentalist Scott Conner in Kalifornien, USA, ins Leben gerufen. Anfangs handelte es sich um ein finsteres Black Metal Projekt, das fest in der Tradition der nordischen "zweiten Welle" des Genres stand. Im Laufe von neun Alben und einer Vielzahl von Split-Singles, EPs und gelegentlichen Demos wurde XASTHURs individueller, besonders depressiver Stil innerhalb der extremen Szene sehr geschätzt. Im Jahr 2010 verkündete Scott plötzlich das Ende von XASTHUR und hob stattdessen das akustische Dark-Folk-Projekt NOCTURNAL POISONING aus der Taufe. Im Jahr 2015 kehrte der Amerikaner zum Namen XASTHUR zurück, betonte aber, dass seine Zeit als Black Metal Musiker vorbei sei. Auf seinem derzeit aktuellen Werk "Inevitably Dark" haben XASTHUR das selbst auferlegte Tabu teilweise gebrochen, ganz einfach weil Conner Lust auf Black Metal hatte und deshalb die selbst gesetzten Grenzen wieder fallen ließ.
