Montreal’s post-punk torchbearers, The City Gates, have unveiled their latest single and music video, “Lapidation,” released through a collaboration between Icy Cold Records and Velouria Recordz. This dynamic offering serves as a tantalizing preview of their upcoming European tour, which highlights a special performance at the esteemed Dark Spring Berlin festival in April.

With “Lapidation,” The City Gates unleashes a sonic barrage reminiscent of a pummeling hailstorm. The track is characterized by its guitar-driven force, deep, resonant vocals, and rhythmic underpinnings that compel listeners to the dance floor. Serving as the second single from their anticipated album set for release by the end of 2024, “Lapidation” solidifies The City Gates’ mastery in fusing atmospheric post-punk with the raw energy of gothic rock, creating an immersive soundscape.

Larissa Georgiou alias Larissa Iceglass and William Maybelline have built up a large fanbase with their Post-Punk in recent years, so that their concerts are very often sold out, just like today in Bochum. The opening act was the band HARSH SYMMETRY from the United States.

This limited edition remix album is based upon the “Prisma” album (2022) and all the tracks has been reworked totally by acts such as Valhall, Lights A.M, Vanguard, Midnight Resistance, Karin My and Technomancer just to name a few. Back in 2022 our reviewer said this about the “Prisma” album: “The band still has something apart from the rest which makes their originality and strength. The global production has been improved from album to album but especially the uplifting  effect from the choruses is a noticeable evolution.”

Energischer soll es sein, das neue Album der britischen Death Metal-Band INGESTED: “The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams” erschien am 5. April 2024 via Metal Blade Records. Zum Release veröffentlichte die Gruppe ein Video zu “Endless Machine” bei YouTube.

Darüber hinaus haben INGESTED auch ein Video zu “Pantheon” bei YouTube geteilt.

Mit einem Video zu  “Paragon Of Purity” stellten INGESTED schon im Januar den ersten Song der Platte vor.

Die Band erklärt, was die neue Platte vom Vorgänger “Ashes Lie Still” unterscheidet:

“‘Ashes Lie Still’entstand in der COVID-Phase, das Albums spiegelt diese Zeit wider. Mit ‘The Tide Of Death And Fractured Dreams’ wollten wir wieder energischer werden.  Wir mögen ‘Ashes’ noch immer,  aber die depressiven Momente wollen wir nicht weiter verfolgen. Es gibt einige düstere Momente auf  ‘Tide’ aber größtenteils sind dieses Mal alles mit mehr Elan angegangen.”

Produziert hat das neue Album Nico Beninato, CHIMAIRA-Sänger Mark Hunter steuerte Guestvocals zum Song “In Nothingness” bei, SYLOSIS-Sänger Josh Middleton war am Track “Expect To Fail” beteiligt.

Die Symphonic Power Metal-Band RHAPSODY OF FIRE präsentiert ihr neues Album “Challenge The Wind” mit einem Video zum Titeltrack bei YouTube. Die neue Platte soll dabei in die Vollen gehen, wie Keyboarder Alex Staropoli erläutert:

„Im Unterschied zu allen früheren Rhapsody Of Fire-Scheiben hat das aktuelle Album ausschließlich schnelle Songs und keine einzige Ballade, So viel Metal wie auf ‚Challenge The Wind‘ gab es bei uns noch nie!“

Den Song “Kreel’s Magic Staff” stellte man schon im Frühjahr 2023 mit einem Lyric-Video bei YouTube vor. Es handelt sich dabei um den ersten neuen Track seit dem Studioalbum “Glory For Salvation” (2021).

Die Band kommentiert:

“Liebe Fans und Freunde, wir veröffentlichen heute die erste Single, die auf unserem nächsten und dritten Studioalbum unserer Nephilim Empire Saga zu hören sein wird.

Jedes einzelne Bandmitglied hat hier sehr viel geleistet, um die Messlatte noch höher zu legen. ‘Kreel’s Magic Staff’ stellt den Beginn einer orchestralen Klangreise dar, die euch wieder mitten in unsere Fantasiewelt führen wird.”

“Challenge The Wind” wurde von Alex Staropoli produziert, den Mix übernahm Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann. Erscheinen wird das Album am 31. Mai 2024 via AFM Records.

Die Horror Punk / Metal-Band ZOMBEAST meldet sich mit dem Album “Heart Of Darkness” zurück. Veröffentlicht wird die Platte am 17. Mai 2024 via Massacre Records auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital. Reinhören ist voran in die Single “Red Ripper” bei YouTube möglich. Bassist und Gitarrist Jared Smith kommentiert:

„In Marios Text geht es um die mörderischen Taten von Andrei Chikatilo (The Red Ripper), der über ein Jahrzehnt die sowjetische Provinz terrorisierte. Die Musik für den Song hatte von Anfang an eine düstere Stimmung. Sie kam ganz natürlich aus mir heraus, und es machte Sinn, dass Mario sich dem Song textlich aus der dunkelsten Perspektive näherte, die ihm möglich war. Aufgrund der Art und Weise, wie die Spannung der Strophe durch Palm Muting und den treibende Beat gesteigert wird, bis der Song in seinen donnernden Refrain ausbricht, ist er einer meiner Lieblingssongs auf dem Album.“

The concept of “bread and circuses” as a means of social control has been around since the term was coined by Juvenal, a Roman poet active in the late first and early second century AD, but as human nature is eternal, it finds a sophisticated counterpart in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. In Huxley’s dystopian future, the government employs advanced technology, psychological manipulation, and a constant stream of pleasure-inducing activities to maintain societal order and prevent dissent. This world is characterized by the suppression of individual thought and the discouragement of critical engagement through the use of soma, a drug providing escape from reality, and a culture saturated with trivial entertainment and instant gratification. These methods distract from underlying social issues and personal freedoms, ensuring a passive and compliant population. By integrating it into every aspect of life, a dissonant society emerges where the very notion of discontent is virtually eradicated, and the concept of personal fulfillment is defined by the ruling class.

JUJU, the alter-ego of Sicilian multi-instrumentalist and producer Gioele Valenti, flanked by band members Vincenzo Schillaci and Andrea Chentrens, addresses these concerns throughout their upcoming album APOCALYPSE IS GOD’S SPOILER, scheduled for launch on March 15th via UK label Sister 9. APOCALYPSE IS GOD’S SPOILER appears to encapsulate a clear-eyed and disillusioned perspective on our current era, reflecting a world saturated with mass-media, terminal hedonism, and pervasive total war. Their newest track from the album, Dead At 25, showcases the remarkable talents of guest artists Chad Channing (Nirvana) and Luca Giovanardi (Julie’s Haircut) while channeling the distinct vibes of Depeche Mode and The Doors.

“The song paints a fresco on a modern condition: an exasperated tendency towards hedonism, in the heart of a neoliberal civilization, in which everything is a mathematical function of money,” Valenti reflects. “A boy can die in war… another can perish from a trip that ended badly, in a seedy nightclub. The place where you are born determines the directions of your entire existence. What unites these two deaths is the denial of any natural right, other than that of dying. The video stages images of a society committed to running towards nowhere. Speed, money, fake fun, the delirium of a mind adrift. The images of people in the discoteque, lost among shamanic rhythms and psychedelic lights conflict with a total war ending. The same society that plies you with panem et circenses is the same one that sends you to die, like cannon fodder, for someone else’s profit. It really seems to be the Apocalypse. And this is the spoiler, like in a painting by Bosch.”

Gioele Valenti is one half of the acclaimed Occult Psych project Lay Llamas (Rocket Recordings) and the man behind Herself, a folktronica project that involved the likes of Jonathan Donahue (Mercury Rev), John Fallon (The Steppes), and Amaury Cambuzat (Faust, Ulan Bator). He was also the guitarist of Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation. Chiefly, he gave rise to the genre-defying project JuJu.

From the debut album Sunrise Ocean Bender, where African influences held sway, to Our Mother Was A Plant, Maps And Territory, where the blending of shoegaze and psychedelic elements evolved into a post-punk fusion reminiscent of Joy Division, with an increasingly pronounced noise trend, JUJU has now achieved a more mature formal balance, characterised by a pure and distinct identity.

With APOCALYPSE IS GOD’S SPOILER, JuJu once again redefines the game. This album signifies an evolution from their established sound and also marks a return to their roots and a more pronounced embrace of “western” imagery. embracing that blend of Post Punk, Shoegaze, Darkwave, Industrial, and Synthpop, and then anchors it to the Tribal and Occult Psych elements of JuJu’s origins.

Out on March 22 is the new album from the electropop act Kraftman, “Chernobyl”. The physical edition is limited to 300 hand-numbered copies and comes in a jewel case holding an 8-pages booklet.

Based in Manchester, UK, this is the music project of Gary Hunter who now offers his 3rd studio album, the follow-up to “Giro d’Italia” (2022) and the debut “Electrique Fabrique” (2021). Musically this should appeal to fans of Metroland, 808 Dot Pop or Kraftwerk.

This time Gary produced an album centered around the Chernobyl disaster, that occured in 1986. The album touches on subjects such as “Radiation”, “Anatoly Dyatlov” (Chief Engineer on duty in Reactor 4, on the night of the incident), “Uranium-235”, “Acute Radiation Syndrome” and more.

Die Grunge-Band MARISA AND THE MOTHS hat mit “Borderline” einen weiteren Video-Clip ihres neuen Albums “What Doesn’t Kill You” veröffentlicht.

“Die Geschichte in diesem Video ist ein nostalgischer Blick zurück auf mich selbst als kleines Kind, auf das Gefühl, ein Außenseiter zu sein und nicht dazuzugehören, und wie sich das zu ändern begann, als ich Musik und alternative Kultur entdeckte”, sagt Sängerin Marisa Rodriguez. “Ich stellte mir vor, wie stolz diese jüngere Version von mir wäre, wenn sie mich jetzt sehen könnte, wie ich mich selbst akzeptiere, eine Band leite und all die Dinge tue, die ich mir als Kind vorgestellt und erträumt habe. Diese persönliche Geschichte ist eine wirklich gute Darstellung dessen, worum es in dem Song geht, nämlich darum, seine Verrücktheit zu akzeptieren und zu feiern, indem man sich selbst treu bleibt.”

“What Doesn’t Kill You” ist nach “Marisa And The Moths” (2019) das zweite Album der Briten, die dazwischen eine Handvoll Singles veröffentlicht haben. Erschienen ist das Album am 3. Mai 2024. Mit “Just Like Me” hat die Band vor wenigen Wochen eine weitere Vorab-Single als Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Der Song sei eine introspektive Reise zu den verschlungenen Parallelen in uns selbst und der Gesellschaft.

Im März ist mit das Video zu “Get It Off My Chest” erschienen. Das Video porträtiert das Wachstum und die Stärke, die man auf der anderen Seite einer scheinbar schlimmen Erfahrung finden kann. Es zeigt auch, dass Sängerin Marisa in der Lage ist, ihren Körper, ihre Sexualität und ihre weibliche Stärke zu akzeptieren:

“Wenn du meinem unsicheren 18-jährigen Ich gesagt hättest, dass ich ein so freizügiges und anzügliches Musikvideo machen würde, dann hätte ich dir ehrlich gesagt nicht geglaubt! Aber ich denke, das macht die Geschichte, die dahinter steckt, umso kraftvoller und entspricht auch der Bedeutung des Albums.”

Im Februar ist mit “SAD” eine weitere Vorab-Single als Video-Clip erschienen.

“In diesem Song geht es um die Scham, traurig zu sein, während man nach außen hin ein anderes Bild abgibt. Es geht um die Herausforderung, ein fröhliches Gesicht zu machen, während man innerlich das Gefühl hat, dass die Welt zusammenbricht”, erklärt Marisa Rodriguez.

Im Jänner hat die Band den Video-Clip “Who Are You Waiting For?” veröffentlicht. Der Song erforscht die Nachwirkungen einer toxischen Beziehung und behandelt Themen wie Selbstfindung, Selbstbestimmung und Widerstandskraft.

“In diesem Song geht es darum, die eigene Macht zurückzuerobern und zu erkennen, dass die Liebe, die man einst mit jemandem zu haben glaubte, nicht mehr da ist – und vielleicht war sie es auch nie. Es geht darum, seinen eigenen Wert nach einer missbräuchlichen Beziehung wiederzuentdecken, seine Stärken anzunehmen und zu erkennen, dass man gut genug ist, auch wenn das in der Situation, in der man sich befindet, schwer zu glauben ist”, erklärt Frontfrau Marisa Rodriguez.

BRING ME THE HORIZON haben Anfang Januar 2024 einen neuen Song geteilt: “Kool-Aid” steht u.a. via YouTube als Lyric-Video bereit. Jetzt folgt auch ein regulärer Clip zum Track bei YouTube.

Zuvor hatten die Briten im Oktober 2023 mit dem Lyric-Video “DArkSide” einen neuen Song veröffentlicht.

Das neue Album “Post Human: NeX GEn” erscheint später als ursprünglich geplant, wie die Briten im Sommer bekannt gegeben haben. Eigentlich sollte die Platte in digitaler Form bereits ab dem 15. September 2023 erhältlich sein. Da man jedoch noch etwas mehr Zeit brauche, um an Details zu arbeiten und die Songs zu perfektionieren, konnten BRING ME THE HORIZON diesen Termin nicht einhalten. Veröffentlicht werden solle das fertige Werk nun im Laufe des Jahres 2024 – ein genauer Termin steht noch aus.

Der Ankündigung vorausgegangen war der neue Song “AmEN!” bei YouTube. Als Gäste wirken zudem der Rapper Lil Uzi Vert sowie GLASSJAW-Sänger Daryl Palumbo mit. Darüber hinaus haben BRING ME THE HORIZON auch ein Musikvideo zu “AmEN!” nachgeschoben – ansehen kann man es bei YouTube.

Zuvor hatten die Briten den Track “Lost” mitsamt Musikvideo bei YouTube geteilt. Das Musikvideo zum vorhergehenden Track “Strangers” steht ebenfalls im Stream bereit.

Auch zur Single “Die4You” gibt es einen Clip, den man sich bei YouTube ansehen kann. Das Stück war das erste neue Material seit der EP “Post Human: Survival Horror” (2020) und wohl der erste Vorgeschmack auf die zweite Veröffentlichung der vierteiligen EP-Reihe unter dem Motto “Post Human”.

Belgian darkwavers Ultra Sunn continue to push the boundaries of their sound with the release of their haunting new single, “Some Ghost Could Follow,” a precursor to their eagerly awaited debut full-length album, US, set for release globally on April 19th via Artoffact Records.

In a world where music often flits from one trend to the next, it’s rare to stumble upon a sound that feels both utterly timeless and thrillingly contemporary. But here we are, caught in Ultra Sunn’s gossamer web.

That haunting synth hook is a siren call, permeating the atmosphere with a smoothness that belies its complex underpinnings. It takes up residence in your soul, making mundane moments feel more…cinematic, the kind that turns a simple walk down the street into a strut down a personal runway, all eyes on you.

Drawing comparisons to grandiose gothic novels, there’s a romantic depth and intrigue in Some Ghost Could Follow, but not the kind that’s tied up with a neat bow at the end. This is the romance of the night, of shadows and whispers; of things left unsaid, feelings simmering just below the surface. The song makes you feel more alive: lighting a fire in your chest and daring you to waltz ever onward with your demons rather than run from them. In an era where so much music feels disposable, Ultra Sunn offers a piece of eternity captured in melody and verse.

Regarding the new track, Ultra Sunn shares, “The difference here is that we are a little more intimate and personal about ourselves and with you. With this track, we invite you to think about these ghosts who could follow you in the night as you wander in a city that you know too well. The streets are paved with regrets, but some ghosts seem so much weaker in the end. In the verses, we mention insomnia, resilience, and the memories that come back to haunt you like a hallucinatory apparition, directly and deliberately interrupted by the mantra of the chorus, like a magic spell, a prayer, a call to order.”

Adding depth to their musical inspiration, the band notes, “The composition has a more orchestral aspect, comparatively, and is somewhat more feminine. We thought of the French-Canadian singer Mylène Farmer, who is a great source of inspiration for us in her way of being, her strength, her character, and her incredible stage performances. Strong and powerful women are often a source of inspiration in their gestures, their relationship with the body, and in their unique sensitivity.”

Accompanying the single is the second installment in Ultra Sunn’s live video series, showcasing the band’s experimental approach to visuals and lighting, further enhancing the track’s atmospheric qualities.

Die Doom Metal-Band HAUNTED hat einen Labeldeal bei Ripple Music unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Sizilianer aus Catania ihr neues Album “Stare at Nothing” veröffentlichen. Es ist nach “Haunted” (2016) und “Dayburner” (2018) das dritte Album der 2015 gegründeten Band.

“Stare at Nothing”, das sich mit dem Menschen beschäftige, der sich selbst wählt, sieht und akzeptiert und sich nicht mit dem Universum, mit einem Gott, mit dem Unendlichen arrangiert, sondern nur mit sich selbst, wurde von Carlo Longo im NuevArte Studio in Catania aufgenommen und gemixt und von Esben Willems gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Kristina Lerner. Erscheinen wird das Album am 19. April 2024. Nach dem Video-Clip “Catamorph” gibt es mit “Malevolent” nun einen zweiten Track zu hören.

Es ist ein kurioses Spannungsfeld, in dem sich „Rogue Asylum“ bewegt. Einerseits transparent und zeitgemäß produziert, finden THE GROUND SHAKER doch einen Weg, ihrem Heavy Rock eine adäquate Kante zu verpassen. Die Gitarren knurren, der Bass sägt, Sänger Giro bringt trotz rauer Stimme ungewöhnlich viel Charme mit. Dadurch erlangen die groovenden und eingängigen Tracks Wiedererkennungswert, während sie sich ihr ungeschliffenes Profil bewahren.

Zwischen nachdenklich in „Mask of Insanity“ oder kraftvoll („Dragon In The Sky“) findet das Quartett einen guten Mittelweg, um Pop-Appeal mit kernigem Rock-Sound zu vereinen. Zart und hart verbinden THE GROUND SHAKER überdies in „A World Which Only I Can See”, wo zwischendurch ein paar unverzerrte Akkorde die Riff-Decke aufbrechen – ein Stilmittel, das nicht nur im lockeren „I Wonder Why“ wiederkehrt. „Demons In My Dreams“ setzt beispielsweise mittels sanfter Töne auf eine Prise Melancholie, nachdem uns die Gitarre in „Ride On Me“ kurz zuvor noch mit Rock’n’Roll-Vibes angestachelt hatte.

Diese Variation tut „Rogue Asylum” spürbar gut, kann allerdings den homogenen Charakter der Platte nicht ganz überdecken. Das muss kein Nachteil sein, lässt in diesem Fall und aufgrund fehlender Impulse die Spannungskurve während des letzten Drittels allerdings etwas abflauen. Ein neues Gesicht zeigt uns die Band zu diesem Zeitpunkt leider nicht mehr, führt uns jedoch immerhin selbstbewusst und abgeklärt durch ihre Interpretation modernen Heavy Rocks. Schön, dass es auch dort mitunter noch roh und kratzig werden darf.

Die Epic Shamanic Black Metal-Band DARKESTRAH hat mit “Nomad” ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das siebte Album der Band und wurde von Andy Schmidt (DISILLUSION) produziert. Erscheinen wird das Album am 29. März 2024 via Osmose Productions. Mit “Nomad” gibt es nun vorab den Titeltrack zu hören.

Einmal mehr vereine das Album Black-Metal-Riffs und traditionelle zentralasiatische Melodien, Verse aus kirgisischer epischer Poesie und Visionen von spirituellen Reisen.

Die Black Metal-Band ACATHEXIS hat nach “The Other” mit “A Slow, Weary Wind” einen zweiten Track ihres kommenden Albums “Immerse” veröffentlicht. Es ist nach “Acathexis” (2018) das zweite Album des internationalen Trios, welches aus Dany Tee (LOS MALES DEL MUNDO, Ex-IN ELEMENT), Gitarrist und Bassist Olmo “DÉHÀ” Lipani (MALADIE, SLOW, WOLVENNEST) sowie Drummer Jacob Buczarski (MARE COGNITUM, DET EVIGA LEENDET) besteht.

“Immerse” wird am 20. März 2024 via Amor Fati Productions und Extraconscious Records erscheinen. V

Die Melodic Death Metal-Band SHADOWPATH hat nach “Outside the Tetrahedron” mit “Unwounded We Bleed” einen weiteren Video-Clip ihres kommenden Albums “The Aeon Discordance” veröffentlicht. Es ist nach “Rumours of a Coming Dawn” (2017) das zweite Album der Schweizer aus Aarau.

“The Aeon Discordance” wurde in den SOS Basement Rec. Studios aufgenommen und wird am 10. März 2024 erscheinen.

SHADOWPATH sind Drummer Samuel Baumann, Gitarrist und Bassist James Pankhurst, Keyboarder und Sänger Philipp Bohny sowie Sängerin Simone Christina (Ex-ELIS, Ex-FELONY, Ex-LEGENDA AUREA).

THE VISION BLEAK haben eine Tour im Hernst 2023 angekündigt – mit dabei hat die Dark Rock-Band dann auch ihr neues Album “Weired Tales”, das am 12. April 2024 veröffentlicht wird.

Mit “Chapter II: In Rue d’Auseil” haben THE VISION BLEAK vor kurzem einen weiteren Song ihrer neuen Platte “Weired Tales” vorgestellt. “Weird Tales” besteht aus einem Song, der in verschiedene Kapitel aufgeteilt ist. Multi-Instrumentalist, Komponist und Produzent Schwadorf beschreibt den Track so:

“Dieses Stück ist ein Paradebeispiel für ein klassisches Gruselmärchen und musikalisch hunderprozentig THE VISION BLEAK. Es war eines der ersten, die für ‘Weird Tales’ geschrieben wurden, und ist gleichzeitig eingängig, dunkel und tanzbar. Dieser Teil ist im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes “Gothic” – mit einem leichten 80er-Jahre-Vibe durch analoge Synthesizer. Der Text basiert auf H. P. Lovecrafts Kurzgeschichte “Die Musik des Erich Zann”, in der der Geiger Erich Zann sein Instrument in einer schrecklichen und grauenvollen Dissonanzorgie kreischen und schreien lässt, was gespenstische, unheimliche Melodien erzeugt.”

“Hier ist der erste Auszug aus unserem neuen Album ‘Weird Tales’ in Form von zwei Kapiteln. Dieses Album ist ein dunkles und erhabenes One-Track-Opus, das wir schon lange realisieren wollten. ‘Once I Was a Flower’ und ‘The Premature Burial’  handeln von Tod und Gräbern, könnten gleichzeitig aber kaum unterschiedlicher sein. ‘Once I Was a Flower’, das auf einer Kurzgeschichte von Lafcadio Hearn basiert, ist ein gotisches Stück voll Traurigkeit und Schönheit. Es erzählt die Geschichte einer Blume und ihres Duftes – ihres Geistes -, die das Grab mit einer jungen Frau teilt. The Premature Burial” erinnert an das Grauen, lebendig begraben zu werden. Drr Song beruht auf Edgar Allen Poes Geschichtssammlung über Menschen, die dieses grausame Schicksal erlitten. ‘Once I Was a Flower” hat einen ganz besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen. Es war nicht nur die erste musikalische Idee für ‘Weird Tales’, die das Konzept prägte, sondern es ist auch einfach die schaurigste und wunderbarste poetische Kurzgeschichte, die ich je gelesen habe. Sie ist unbeschreiblich schön und vermittelt gleichzeitig unsere romantische Weltsicht von einer lebendigen, temperamentvollen Natur.”

Sven Martin ist mit seinem Projekt KAELTE inzwischen fest in der deutschen Neofolk-Szene verankert und sein letztes Album „Lieblingslieder“ hat sicher auch die Genre-Anhängerschaft überzeugen können. Auf dieser quasi Best Of interpretierte er 16 Songs seines bisherigen Schaffen im reinen Neo Folk-Gewand und zeigte sich Szene affin wie nie zuvor. Sein neues Album „Aus tiefen Höhlen“ ist dagegen musikalisch wieder deutlich breiter aufgestellt und sehr dunkel-düster ausgefallen. Kein Wunder bei der aktuellen Weltlage und es ist ja auch kein Geheimnis, dass sich Sven Martin zusammen mit seiner Frau Franziska offen beim Ukraine-Konflikt positioniert haben bzw. sich klar zu Kiew bekennen. Das sie mit dieser Haltung polarisieren, ist ebenso klar und hat ihnen schon einige Hörer und sogar einen Veröffentlichungsmöglichkeit gekostet. Deshalb erschien „Aus tiefen Höhlen“ wieder nur im Eigenverlag und CD-Format, wobei sich die 9 neuen Songs auch gut auf Vinyl gemacht hätten. Michael Tellbach (ART ABSCONs) hat nämlich das Album analog gemastert und auch zum Teil aufgenommen, gemischt, wie darauf Bass gespielt. Gerade dieser schleppend-rollende Bass dominiert den Sound des Albums und verweist auf die Post Punk-Wurzeln von KAELTE, die hier homogen mit Dark Folk- und Martial Industrial-Elementen äußerst atmosphärisch verwoben werden. Ein weiteres Pfund von KAELTE ist die Stimme von Sven Martin, welche gleichfalls tief, sonor und hypnotisch klingt, was ja in dem Genre eher eine Ausnahme ist. Lyrisch und thematisch lassen dagegen die deutschen Texte wenig Hoffnung und malen finster-grimmige Endzeitbilder an den schon längst brennenden Horizont. „Aus tiefen Höhlen“ ist sicher kein „Hit-Album“ für die „Lagerfeuer-Disko“, jedoch sehr tiefgründig, zwingend und atmosphärisch geworden, was es für mich nach „Gegengift“ zum bisher besten Werk von KAELTE macht! Das Crossover-Projekt KEYGEN CHURCH hat für 22. März 2024 ein neues Album mit dem Titel “Nel Nome Del Codice” angekündigt. Hinter dem Namen steckt Songwriter Victor Love (MASTER BOOT RECORD), der seine Musik für KEYGEN CHURCH während unangekündigter Live-Streams komponiert und aufnimmt.

“Nel Nome Del Codice” enthält neun Tracks und vereint Elemente aus Doom, Gothic und Black Metal mit Barock und Klassik. Reinhören kann man vorab in die Singles “La Chiave Del Mio Amor” und “Nel Nome Del Codice”.

Das Album erscheint via Metal Blade auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital.

There’s a song featuring sampling parts of Julian Assange, another one as a collaboration with Solitary Experiments and there’re cover versions of Depeche Mode and The Sound.

+ + + : I have often had the feeling of repeating myself when evoking Kirlian Camera but more than ever before I believe there’s no other formation like this Italian band. This is music without compromises which makes it authentic and timeless; Bergamini and his friends don’t follow trends and established genres but simply are a genre on their own. The album is diversified and never repeating itself. I prefer the danceable side of the work but more than anything else I think that without Elena Alice Fossi it would be another band and another album.
