Outer Darkness Records is a collective of industrial music artists founded in 2022. The label serves as a platform for emerging and established artists alike, “offering a home for those who embrace the darkness and channel it into their art” as they explain.

Einen der vier neuen Songs des 76-minütigen Albums hat die Sludge-Band jetzt im Netz geteilt: “Yellow Dawn” kann man sich bei Bandcamp anhören.

Die 2001 in der Tschechischen Republik gegründete Band CUTTERRED FLESH veröffentlicht am 24. Mai 2024 ihr neues Album und vergrößert damit die Anzahl der Longplayer in ihrer Diskographie um 1 auf die Gesamtanzahl von 6. Nun aber genug mit Mathe, auch wenn die Komposition der zweiten Singleauskopplung an manchen Stellen schon ein wenig Mathekenntnisse erfordert haben dürften, denn hier werden gekonnt Tempi und Rhythmen gewechselt ohne ins übertriebene Gespiele abzudriften. Von stampfenden Parts bis hin zu flinkem Riffing findet man in diesem Song so ziemlich alles, was das Herz des geneigten Death Metallers erfreuen dürfte. Old School-Vorbilder werden hier modern ins eigene Gewandt gekleidet.
Hört euch die zweite Single mit dem Namen „Descent Into Torment Of Abyssal Whispers“ an und freut euch auf das kommende Album, welches den Namen „Love At First Bite“ tragen wird.

Die Math- / Metalcore-Band SEEYOUSPACECOWBOY hat eine weitere Single veröffentlicht: “Red Wine And Discontent” bei YouTube.

Ein Clip zu “To The Dance Floor For Shelter” steht darüber hinaus bei YouTube bereit und ist eine Kollaboration mit SPIRITBOX-Sängerin Courtney LaPlante. Zuvor präsentierte die Gruppe eine Doppel-Single. “Respite For A Tragic Tale / Silhouettes In Motion” gibt es als Clip bei YouTube, wobei der erste der beiden Songs ein Gastfeature von iRis.EXE enthält.

Die Tracks stammen wie die vorherige Preview-Nummer “Chewing The Scenery” vom neuen Album “Coup De Grâce”, das am 19. April 2024 via Pure Noise Records auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital erscheinen wird.

Zuvor veröffentlichte die Gruppe im Jahr 2021 das Album “The Romance Of Affliction”.

Dero Goi – Resurrected!

 

DERO GOI, former frontman of ‘Neue Deutsche Härte’ pioneers OOMPH!, releases ‘Resurrected’ as the second video single marking his new career as a solo-artist.

It is not accidental that the clip is coming out during the Easter weekend and particularly Good Friday. Dero openly embraces his Christian faith and the opening sequence quotes Isaiah 53:5 which refers to the passion of Christ. ‘Resurrected’ also contemplates what it means to face one’s own dark side. Musically, the singer again demonstrates his outstanding prowess as a songwriter with this utterly captivating track.

DERO GOI comments: “The lyrics of ‘Resurrected’ are about the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ”, the frontman writes. “The video deals with the fact that I have struggled with severe depression and suicidal thoughts for more than 35 years – and how I was finally healed by Jesus Christ when I became a born again believer in him.”

DERO GOI is back! The former OOMPH! frontman delivers a clear statement of intent – both musically, in the shape of his  first excellently produced single ‘Clickbait’ that heads into the synth wave direction, as well as lyrically with a full-frontal assault on our addiction to social media and sensory overload. 

DERO GOI remains true to his unbending will of carrying on as a non-conformist artist. Always outspoken and never shy to share his views, his coming out as a Born Again Christian still critical of the churches in 2020 and declared libertarian political leaning have provoked a wide range of reactions. Those include massive problems in finding a label, booking agent and even shows being cancelled. This poses the question: how tolerant is a scene that prides itself of greatest openness to any social class and lifestyle when those values are being put to the test? Are freedom of the arts and freedom of thought only for those, who conform to certain popular ideas? Sure, there are consequences to words and there are limits to any freedom, but should those apply to an artist who stands firmly on the ground of his country’s constitution and is not breaking any laws? What is freedom worth, if it does not entail the right to dissent? DERO GOI begs to differ and that is not a crime.

At a closer look, neither DERO GOI‘s intensive preoccupation with religion nor social commentary are new elements in his work as an artist. As the vocalist and drummer of ‘Neue Deutsche Härte’ (“new German hardness”) pioneers OOMPH!, DERO GOI‘s lyrics have dealt with the global economic crisis on ‘Zwei Schritte vor’ (“two steps forward”) from the album “Des Wahnsinns fette Beute” (“in the mouth of madness”), and the track ‘Sandmann’ with child poverty in Germany. Examples of the former agnostic struggling with organised religion are manifold on such tracks as ‘Feiert das Kreuz’ (“celebrate the cross”), ‘Hast du geglaubt’ (“did you believe”), ‘Schisma’ (“schism”), ‘I.N.R.I. vs. Jahwe’, ‘Gott ist ein Popstar’ (“god is a pop star”) , ‘Gekreuzigt’ (“crucified”) among many others. 

Before DERO GOI, who was born as Stephan Musiol on April 16, 1970 in the German city of Wolfsburg, founded OOMPH! in 1989, he already played in a band with his friend Thomas Döppner aka OOMH! guitarist and co-founder Crap at the age of 15 while both were still attending high school. His musical influences display an open mind to stylistic diversity as DERO GOI names among others D.A.F., NITZER EBB, FRONT 242, THE CURE, KILLING JOKE, EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN, AC/DC, DEPECHE MODE, EXTRABREIT, KRAFTWERK, THE BEATLES, ELVIS PRESLEY, and ABBA.

When DERO GOI left OOMPH! at the end of September 2021, all kinds of speculations followed, while the explanation is rather simple. Both sides had developed into different directions in musical as well as lyrical aspects, and it was just the right choice to take, instead of plowing ahead into endless arguments and conflict.

First excerpts from his upcoming solo-project have already hinted that DERO GOI will move into a more electronic direction than the songs previously heard of him. Don’t expect the singer to hold back or shut up. His debut will be released via Dependent early next year.

Häufig ist die spannendste Zeit einer Karriere mitnichten die anfängliche Sturm-und-Drang-Periode, sondern die anschließenden Jahre der Identitätsfindung: Wie will man sich künftig positionieren? Wo möchte man überhaupt hin und welche Stützpfeiler zeichnen den eigenen Sound überhaupt aus? Für SETYØURSAILS scheinen all diese Fragen nahezu Formsache zu sein: Nach dem rabiaten Debüt „Enough“ (2018) entschlüsselte das Quartett schon mit „Nightfall“ (2022) die Blaupause des modernen Metalcore.

„Bad Blood“ ist somit zumindest auf den ersten Blick eine Art Selbstläufer: Alle Tugenden des Zweitwerks finden sich auch im dritten Anlauf wieder, wo satte Riffs sich mit dem zielgerichteten Schlagzeug zu einer groovenden Symbiose verbünden. Das Energielevel schießt folglich schon im eröffnenden Titeltrack in die Höhe – keineswegs der alleinige Verdienst Gastsänger Adrian Estrella (ZEBRAHEAD). Dennoch ist das nur die eine Hälfte des Erfolgsrezepts, versäumen es SETYØURSAILS doch keineswegs, diesem mitreißenden Fundament eine gesunde Ladung Radio-Appeal zur Seite zu stellen.

In den Händen SETYØURSAILS’ harmoniert das Spiel mit den Extremen nahezu perfekt
Öffnet sich das Material, dann meist um Fronterin Jules‘ Singstimme in Szene zu setzen: Eingängige und bisweilen zuckersüße Melodien bilden den Gegenpol zu den galligen Shouts und Screams. Natürlich kennen wir das von vergleichbaren Acts seit nunmehr Jahrzehnten, so hartnäckig im Ohr festsetzen wie „Halo“ oder die abschließende Alternative-Metal-Hymne „Eternally“ können sich aber nur die wenigsten Stücke. Exakt, weil eben das Spiel mit den Extremen in den Händen SETYØURSAILS‘ so perfekt harmoniert, bleibt das furiose „T.F.M.F.“ im Gedächtnis – auch ohne von typischen Songwriting-Konventionen abzuweichen.

Dass sich die Kölner in ihrem Ansatz durchaus an Mainstream-Gepflogenheiten orientieren und dabei meist kompakt unter der Vier-Minuten-Marke bleiben, ist in diesem Fall sogar mehr Stärke denn Schwäche: Denn während sich das sonst solide „Bad Company“ etwas zu lange im Rampenlicht aufhält, sorgt der beständige Tapetenwechsel andernorts für frischen Wind im Minutentakt: Heavy-Rock-Anleihen in „Dangerous“ ziehen uns nach der poppigen Power-Ballade „Lately“ unmittelbar eins über die Rübe und festigen den Eindruck, den wir bereits nach den ersten Tönen zu formen begonnen haben.

SETYØURSAILS setzen anno 2024 möglicherweise ein wenig mehr auf ausschmückende Snythesizer-Untermalung, wissen ansonsten aber schon jetzt, ihren Modern Metalcore in optimaler Weise in Szene zu setzen. Im Gegensatz zur gewöhnlichen Sturm-und-Drang-Phase wirkt „Bad Blood“ dadurch akribisch ausgearbeitet, ohne dafür allerdings auch nur ein Quäntchen Energie im Tausch aufgeben zu müssen.

GREH ist eine neue Band von Gjero Krsteski (Gitarre / ex. HELLGREASER), Maurice Monne (Schlagzeug / HARD STRIKE, MILAN) und Martin Kocula (Gesang / GRAU) aus Deutschland. Nachdem Gjero HELLGREASER verlassen hatte, gründete er GREH. Zunächst im Jahr 2022 als Ein-Mann-Projekt und 2023 als vollwertige Band. Am 31. März 2023 erschien die digitale Debüt-EP „Reversion Of The Repressed“ mit fünf Songs, die stilistisch eine Mischung aus Black und Death Metal mit Doom-Elementen darstellen und Traurigkeit und Schwere mit Groove und Dissonanz verbinden.
Die Band hat Bands wie Ophis, HEXIS, Iron Walrus, Magefa unterstützt und seit 2023 Shows zusammen mit Arsen, Dornen, Tristis, Tourin Horse geheadlined und sich eine Legion von Fans erspielt. GREH arbeiten derzeit an ihrem Debütalbum, das im Winter 2024 erscheinen soll.

Die vorherige Single erschien bereits im Mai 2023: “Ghost Of Me” steht als Musikvideo bei YouTube bereit. Gleichzeitig hatten die Australier verlauten lassen, das fünfte, noch unbetitelte Studioalbum noch im laufenden Jahr 2023 fertigzustellen.

Im Oktober 2022 hatte die Formation ihr neues Line-Up vorgestellt: Den vakanten Posten am Keyboard übernimmt Alex Reade (ex-DROWN THIS CITY). Anfang des Jahres hatten sich die Australier von Booka Nile getrennt – als Grund standen Anschuldigungen bezüglich sexuellen Fehlverhaltens im Raum.

Zeitgleich präsentierten MAKE THEM SUFFER mit “Doomswitch” den ersten Song mit Alex Reade – das Musikvideo gibt es bei YouTube.

In a charming interplay of suave art rock and new wave reverie, Don’t Get Lemon’s latest single, “Highway 59,” vividly tributes the tangled emotions and landscapes of European post-punk and the droll warmth of the band’s Houston sound while paying homage to the evocative narrative of Wim Wenders’ classic film “Paris, Texas.” 

The song “Highway 59” is itself an effervescent journey through time and sound, with bubbling retro synths that recall the nostalgic undertones of Survive and Black Marble, coupled with a vocal delivery that finds a unique crossroad between the haunting depth of Dave Gahan, the chameleonic allure of David Bowie, and the resonant croons reminiscent of early-2000s post-punk revival. The presence of the guitars is subtle yet profound, shimmering with an ethereal quality that evokes the peak artistry of The Cure’s “Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me” and “Disintegration,” with echoes of the iconic Cocteau Twins Gretsch sound as heard in “Crushed.”

The accompanying music video, masterfully shot and edited by Jennifer Battaglia, is a visual feast that perfectly encapsulates the song’s ethereal soundscape. It ushers viewers into a vivid, surreal dream—not the kind where you’re hampered by the frustrating inability to run fast or punch hard, but a liberating fantasy where you can step out of your car and dance with the kind of abandon found in the late ’80s golden era of music culture. The only thing missing from this nostalgic reverie? Wistful cameos from Harry Dean Stanton and Nastassja Kinski to complete the homage to “Paris, Texas.”

Emerging from the eclectic music landscape of Texas, Don’t Get Lemon is a band that defies easy categorization. At the core of this art-pop ensemble are Austin Curtis, Nicholas Ross, and Bryan Walters, three longtime friends whose synergy and shared vision have propelled the band into the spotlight. Austin Curtis, the charismatic frontman, commands attention with his compelling vocal presence, and his stage persona is a blend of theatricality and raw emotion.

Nicholas Ross and Bryan Walters complement Curtis’s performances with their multi-instrumental talents, crafting the sonic landscape that has become the band’s signature. Ross’s mastery of synth and guitar layers the music with rich, atmospheric textures, while Walters’s bass and percussion work provide the rhythmic backbone that drives each song. Don’t Get Lemon’s journey began with the release of their debut album Hyper Hollow Heaven, a project that introduced their unique blend of introspective lyrics and captivating melodies. Their follow-up album, Have Some Shame, saw the band expanding their sonic palette, incorporating glittering synth-pop and stomping glam rock into their repertoire. This evolution in their sound reflects the band’s commitment to artistic growth and their desire to explore new musical territories.

Have Some Shame, the 9-song, 37-minute album, is due out on April 23rd, 2024, via à La Carte Records and Summer Darling Tapes. It was recorded in rural Texas by Dan Duszynski (Loma / Sub Pop) and mastered by Paul Gold (LCD Soundsystem, Animal Collective). This buoyant collection of songs revolts against the bored, distant gaze of cliché coldwave and instead retaliates with the warm, fiery embrace of what the band contrastingly dubs as “Heatwave.” This heartfelt sound forms an idiosyncratic identity that also wouldn’t be out of place in a classic John Hughes 80s film soundtrack.

Die Metalcore-Band THE GHOST INSIDE meldet sich mit einer neuen Single zurück: “Split” bei YouTube.

Auch die Preview-Songs “Wash It Away” sowie “Death Grip” stehen als Clips bei YouTube bereit.

Zuvor gab es schon ein Musikvideo zum Track “Earn It” bei YouTube. Es handelt sich bei dem Stück um das erste Material seit dem Comeback-Album “The Ghost Inside” (2020). Produziert wurde “Earn It” von Tyler Smyth und Dan Braunstein, den Mix übernahm Zakk Cervini.

Entnommen sind alle Singles dem Album “Searching For Solace”, das am 19. April 2024 via Epitaph Records erscheinen wird.

Im Oktober und November spielen THE GHOST INSIDE dann einige Konzerte in Europa, um das neue Material auch live vorzustellen.

Mit zwei bockstarken Alben innerhalb von zwei Jahren, dem 2019er Debüt “Traveler” sowie dem 2020er Nachfolger “Termination Shock” haben TRAVELER einen Traumstart hingelegt und sich umgehend an die Spitze meiner Favoriten der neuen Welle traditioneller Metalbands gespielt. Vier Jahre, ein neues Rhythmus-Duo, einen Labelwechsel und eine Pandemie später haben TRAVELER mit “Prequel To Madness” nun ihr drittes Album veröffentlicht. Von Gates Of Hell ist man zu No Remorse Records gewechselt und statt blau/grau/schwarz springt uns ein knallbuntes Cover entgegen, auf dem das Bandmaskottchen in einem Lavasee (?) versinkt.

Bunt statt blau – TRAVELER als Vorbild für die nächsten Wahlen in Deutschland?

Musikalisch bleibt aber trotz des Farbwechsels alles beim alten. Mit dem instrumentalen Intro “Mayday” fallen TRAVELER direkt mit der Tür ins Haus. Bollernde Drums, sägende Gitarren, ein wunderbar rauer Sound. Der Opener “Take The Wheel” startet gleich als Galopper mit wunderbaren Twin Leads. Letztere lassen die Herrn Ries und Schadlich natürlich wie gewohnt über die ganze Albumlänge von der Leine. Dazu kommt der gewohnt starke Gesang von JP Abboud, der immer noch zu den charismatischsten Sängern der NWOTHM zählt und hier erneut absolute Spitzenklasse abliefert.

Matt Ries und Toryin Schadlich spielen auf “Prequel To Madness” mal wieder groß auf

Nach dem Up Tempo-Banger “Dark Skull” und dem ruppigen Nackenbrecher “The Law” folgt mit dem locker aus der Hüfte geschossenen Mid Tempo Rocker “Rebels Of The Earth” ein echter Hit. Das Ding schreit geradezu nach großen Bühnen. Mit “Heavy Hearts” folgt ein ähnliches Kaliber, auch wenn TRAVELER hier wieder stärker aufs Gas treten. Bei “No Fate” hauen Ries und Schadlich wieder ein geniales Lead nach dem anderen raus. Wahnsinn! Zum Schluss kommt mit dem Titelsong noch mal ein richtiges Highlight. Über sieben Minuten wechselt der Song zwischendurch mal die Stimmung, von straightem Up Tempo Banger zu großem Drama und wieder zurück und zum Schluss einen akustischen Ausklang.

TRAVELER liefern auf “Prequel To Madness” gewohnte Qualität ab

Ein oder zwei Stücke mögen vielleicht nicht das starke Niveau der restlichen Songs halten, sind dabei aber immer noch mindestens sehr gut. Alles in allem haben TRAVELER mit “Prequel To Madness” ein weiteres, starkes Album abgeliefert. Kein Quantensprung zu den bisherigen Alben, die waren aber eben auch schon sehr, sehr stark, so dass man das Drittwerk der Kanadier definitiv zu den Highlights in Sachen traditioneller Metal zählen muss.

Die polnische Black Metal-Band BLAZE OF PERDITION stellt ihr neues Album “Upharsin” mit einer weiteren Single vor und hat nun auch ein Video zu “Przez rany ” bei YouTube geteilt.

Schon im März veröffentlichten BLAZE OF PERDITION den Track “W kwiecie rozłamu” bei bandcamp.

Die Gruppe erklärt den Hintergrund der Platte:

“Mit ‘Upharsin’ wollten wir die Wunden der Menschheit als Kollektiv öffnen. Das Album reflektiert darüber, wie Menschen dazu neigen, sich zu Konflikten und Streitigkeiten hinreißen zu lassen. Wie Religionen und Politik sowie andere Aspekte unseres täglichen Lebens von unseren niederen Instinkten verdorben und getrieben werden, da wir uns willentlich weigern, aus unserer eigenen Geschichte zu lernen, da wir uns dafür entscheiden, den Schattenaspekt unserer psychischen Realität zu ignorieren und zu vernachlässigen, was uns wiederum immer weiter in den ewigen Kreislauf der Gewalt führt. Es ist wahrscheinlich das realistischste Konzept, das wir übernommen haben, mit deutlich weniger spirituellen Tendenzen und einem viel bodenständigeren Ansatz.”

“Upharsin” folgt auf das Studiowerk “The Harrowing Of Hearts” (2020) und erscheint am 19. April 2024 via Metal Blade.

Die Death Metal-Band GRAND CADAVER hat eine neue Single veröffentlicht: Ein Lyric-Video zu “Terminal Exit” gibt es bei YouTube. Frontmann Mikael Stann (DARK TRANQUILLITY) kommentiert:

“Mit ‘Terminal Exit’ wollten wir die ursprüngliche, rohe dämonische Kraft abrufen. Wir wollten die Art von schierer Härte erreichen, die nur Death Metal bieten kann. Gleichzeitig wollten wir erforschen, was Grand Cadaver ist und was Grand Cadaver sein kann, während wir uns immer noch an unsere Wurzeln erinnern.”

“Terminal Exit” erscheint am 26. April 2024 zusammen mit dem Track “Skinless God” als limitierte 7″-Single via Majestic Mountain Records (250 Stück).

Vor ziemlich genau elf Jahren habe ich “Putrid Death Sorcery”, das Debüt der Franzosen NECROWRETCH, besprochen. Das Teil war eine mehr als solide old school Death Metal-Platte. Inzwischen ist die Band bei Album Nummer fünf angekommen und hat sich musikalisch doch ein ganzes Stück weit verändert. Wo auf “Putrid Death Sorcerx” noch mehr oder weniger die reine Death Metal-Lehre zelebriert wurde, haben sich NECROWRETCH inzwischen deutlich mehr in Richtung Black Metal orientiert, schwedische Titanen wie DISSECTION oder NECROPHOBIC, welche ebenfalls gekonnt zwischen Black und Death Metal reüssieren, kommen mir sofort in den Sinn, wenn ich “Swords Of Dajjal” höre.

Auf “Swords Of Dajjal” haben NECROWRETCH sich musikalisch deutlich in Richtung Black Metal bewegt

Im Vergleich zu NECROPHOBIC, die ja aktuell mit “In The Twilight Grey” auch wieder ein neues Album am Start haben, fehlen halt ein wenig die griffigen Refrains. Davon abgesehen liefern NECROWRETCH hier aber auf ganzer Linie ab. “Ksar Al-Kufar” baut kurz Spannung auf, um dann als mächtige Up Tempo-Hymne los zu marschieren. Gekonnt wechseln die Franzosen zwischen atmosphärischen Passagen und Raserei. Mit “The Fifth Door” setzen NECROWRETCH in Sachen Aggression gleich noch einen drauf und starten mit Blastbeats. Aber natürlich sind die Herren als Songwriter clever genug, auch hier für Abwechslung zu sorgen und versuchen sich sogar kurz mit sowas wie Klargesang. Also… fast.

Düstere Atmosphäre und abwechslungsreiche Songs machen den Reiz von “Swords Of Dajjal” aus

Mit “Di Mauri” folgt eine vertracktere Nummer, bei der NECROWRETCH immer wieder Haken schlagen zwischen atmosphärischen Mid Tempo-Parts, verschachtelten Riffs und Blast-Attacken. Wem das zu kompliziert war, den holen NECROWRETCH mit dem Titelsong gleich wieder ab. Ganz großes Kino liefern NECROTWRETCH mit dem Instrumental “Daeva” ab. Das knapp drei Minuten lange Stück trieft nur so vor düsterer Atmosphäre. Die marschierenden Riffs werden von unverzerrten Gitarren flankiert. “Total Obliteration”, welches genauso klingt wie es heißt, macht danach den Sack zu.

Dank Corona hatten NECROWRETCH Zeit, ausgiebig an “Swords Of Dajjal” zu arbeiten – es hat sich gelohnt!

Auf “Swords Of Dajjal” schaffen NECROWRETCH es perfekt, Aggression und Atmosphäre zu verbinden. Alle Songs sind clever arrangiert, niemals kommt Langeweile auf, weil vielleicht zu lange zu stumpf ein Tempo durchgeballert wird. Die wirklich starke Gitarrenarbeit von W. Cadaver tut ihren Teil dazu und sorgt für jede Menge Atmosphäre. Aber auch Drummer N. Destroyer muss man hier mal erwähnen, denn dieser spielt hier auch ganz groß auf und setzt Akzente, während der Bass hauptsächlich der Rhythmusgitarre folgt. Man merkt dem Album an, dass die Band lange und hart an den Kompositionen gearbeitet hat und hiermit ihr bisher wohl ambitioniertestes Werk geschaffen hat.

ORANGE GOBLIN bringen ein enues Album raus: “Science Not Fiction” erscheint am 19. Juni 2024 via Peaceville/Edel.

Zur ersten Single “(Not) Rocket Science” gibt es auch ein Lyricvideo bei YouTube, der animierte Clip kommt von Matthew Vickerstaff.

Ben Ward fasst die Message des Songs zusammen:

“Das Leben kann erstaunlich einfach und unkompliziert sein, wenn man aufhört,  Zeit zu verschwenden und jeden Tag nutzt. Sei bereit, hart zu arbeiten, erwarte keine Almosen und genieße den Weg dorthin. Als Chris mit der Musik ankam, sagte er, es müsse etwas im Stil von Bon Scott oder Lemmy werden – ich denke, das ist gelungen.

“Science, Not Fiction” entstand Ende 2023 im Woodworm Studio in Großbritannien, Produktion und Mix kommen von Mike Exeter, das Mastering von Peter Hewitt-Dutton. Auf dem Album gibt Bassist Harry Armstrong (ex-HANGNAIL) seinen Einstand bei ORANGE GOBLIN, sein Vorgänger Martyn Millard hatte die Band 202o verlassen.

“Das Album führt fort, was wir bisher gemacht haben. Wir haben beim Songwriting all unsere Einflüssen und Lieblingskünstlern in einer Schüssel durchgemischt und versuchen, die Band zu erschaffen, die wir immer hören wollten. Dieses Album ist reifer, wir sind keine Küken mehr und haben jetzt zehn Alben gemacht. Background/Info: Mexican artist and label owner Dimitri Berzerk last year released his debut-album “Nineteen Eighty Four”. He previously released several noticeable EP’s featuring guest singers while he also got a name for the endless number of remixes he made.

– – – : The main challenge for this artist is to get more recognition on the European continent but he definitely has a nose to compose alluring Electro.

Die Sexual – ”Inservio” EP!

Dark electronic duo, DIE SEXUAL recently unveiled their newest EP, Inservio. The EP is a testament to submission, devotion and slavery to the dark nights, strobing lights and the pulsating beat of the music.

Says founding member, Anton Floriano: “We wanted to capture that feeling in these songs, the surrendering of your body and soul to the night, the music, your desires, letting go of all cares and just being “slaves to the tempo”.

“Lights Down Low”‘s idea of losing one’s self to pulsating rhythms while a “safe space” for someone to be who they want at no cost is explored in “House Of God”. It’s there where we are free of judgement, devoid of cares and stress of our daily grind.

Lastly, “Need To Sin” presents a tantalizing roleplay scenario where the subject submits to her ultimate desires and hedonistic fantasies, knowing any hesitation of guilt should be discarded as forgiveness will always be granted.
 
Inservio is self-produced and crafted in the band’s home studio of vintage analog and modular synthesizers, fueled by their inspiration of classic EBM and modern techno, to be enjoyed on the dancefloors, in the basements and in the bedrooms.

APOCALYPTICA machen da weiter, wo Mitte der Neunziger Jahre alles begann: Am 7. Juni erscheint “APOCALYPTICA Plays Metallica Vol. 2”, also ein weiteres Album mit METALLICA-Coverversionen der finnischen Cellisten.

Als zweiten Preview-Song haben APOCALYPTICA nun ihre Version von “The Unforgiven II” als Video bei YouTube veröffentlicht.

Auch zur ersten Single “The Four Horsemen” gibt’s ein Video, mitgemacht bei dem Song hat übrigens auch METALLICA-Bassist Rob Trujillo.

Neben Trujillo baten die finnischen Cellisten weitere Gäste zu sich ins Studio, die Namen der Gastmusiker werden noch bekannt gegeben. Da die Tracklist bereits veröffentlicht wurde und METALLICAs “One” dort auch als Instrumental-Version aufgeführt ist, kann man davon ausgehen, dass wohl auch wieder eine Sängerin oder ein Sänger an dem Album beteiligt war.

APOCALYPTICA-Gründer Eicca Toppinen erklärt, was “Apocalyptica Plays Metallica Vol. 2” vom ersten Teil unterscheidet:

“Das Coolste ist, dass nicht wir dieses Album forciert haben, es wurde uns angeboten. Als wir das erste Album live gespielt haben, hat es so viel mehr Spaß gemacht und war so viel aufregender, als wir erwartet hatten. So kam die Idee auf, wieder etwas wie das erste Album zu machen., Natürlich können wir es nicht einfach wiederholen: Wir mussten uns selbst herausfordern und die Energie und Emotion von METALLICA aus einer neuen Perspektive betrachten.

Lead-Cellist Perttu Kivilaakso fügt hinzu:

“Wir haben nun über 20 Jahren darüber gesprochen, ein weiteres METALLICA-Album zu machen, da es noch so viele großartige Songs gibt, die wir spielen wollten! Zuvor erschien bereits der Preview-Track “Cure” bei YouTube. Es handelt sich dabei um den Titeltrack ihres sechsten Studioalbums “Cure”, das am 5. April 2024 erschienen ist. Auch den Vorab-Song “Pale Iris” kann man sich via YouTube ansehen.

Produziert wurde “Cure” von Dan Braunstein, der auch für Mix und Mastering verantwortlich zeichnet.

Der Gitarrist und Komponist von LAKE OF TEARS, Daniel Brennare, begibt sich mit der Veröffentlichung von „The Secrets of the Rain“ (Movement I), seiner ersten Solokomposition, auf ein neues klangliches Abenteuer. Dieser instrumentale, orchestrale Track markiert einen bedeutenden Schritt für Brennare, der seine Talente außerhalb des Bereichs der Gothic Metal Band unter Beweis stellt. „The Secrets of the Rain“ ist auch die erste Veröffentlichung auf Brennares eigenem Label roQon und wird auf allen wichtigen digitalen Plattformen erhältlich sein.

About the forthcoming EP, Archetypes

On the upcoming EP, Archetypes, the band examines the tropes that have weaved a thread across societies for centuries. “It’s such an interesting topic and really highlights the power of language whether written or passed down via  word of mouth. The legends hold a commonality that span through time and culture. Before the world was connected by technology, these stories held the experiences and wisdom for generators to come. Whether they are steeped in symbolism or ritual, the lessons are still infused and if sensational, that only ensures the survival beyond our limited life spans.”   

Founded in 2013, US Dark Pop outfit, ESOTERIK, have steadily evolved into what fans have lovingly coined as Pagan-Synth. The band, comprised of Allison Eckfeldt and Brady Bledsoe, is known for their heady potion of soundscapes that highlight the melodic side of 80’s synthpop alongside the intensity of rock sensibilities. With lyrical content that explores the human condition and how we experience life with senses known and unknown, each compassion beckons the listener towards deep exploration of shadow and light. Their last release, “Alchemy”, has been described as “an album which has mystical folk tendrils, spliced together with electronic synths and rhythms. It is beautiful and danceable with a spiritual center, calling back to a time when our ancestors were more in-tune to the world they walked in and the earth was far more listened to.” 

Gearing up for most extensive US tour yet, ESOTERIK will be joining forces with scene veterans, Combichrist, for the “Only Death is Immortal” tour in March for what will undoubtedly be a high-octane all-out assault of the senses. With more road time also comes new inspiration with several singles being slated for spring and summer. The first single off the upcoming EP, “Trickster,” is sonically reminiscent of something you would have heard blasting in a club back in 1986 alongside “Bizarre Love Triangle”. With Allison Eckfeldt’s highly emotive vocal delivery and a grit we haven’t seen before,  it’s easy to get swept away in the chaos that is quintessential to the Trickster.

IN APHELION haben ein neues Album angekündigt: “Reaperdawn” soll am 9. August 2024 erscheinen, eine erste Single steht nun in Form von “When All Stellar Light Is Lost” bei YouTube bereit. Gitarrist und Sänger Sebastian Ramstedt kommentiert:

Dies war der erste Song, der nach dem letzten Album geschrieben wurde. Es ist ein ziemlich chaotisches Biest, bei dem die Musik perfekt zu den Texten (geschrieben vom ehemaligen Necrophobic-Mitglied Martin Halvdan) passt. Obwohl es ein kurzer Track für IN APHELION ist, gibt er dem Hörer einen Vorgeschmack darauf, wohin das Album gehen wird. Es ist ein erster Blick auf ein wirklich episches und gewalttätiges Album.”

Der Nachfolger des 2022er Albums “Moribund” wird via Century Media veröffentlicht, die schwedische Death/Black Metal-Band hat vor kurzem einen Plattenvertrag bei dem Label unterschrieben.

Die Band wurde 2020 von Sebastian Ramstedt und Johan Bergebäck (beide von NECROPHOBIC) gegründet, zur Besetzung gehören außerdem der niederländischen Schlagzeuger Marco Prij (CRYPTOSIS) und Bassist Tobias Cristiansson.

Die Heavy Metal-Band TUNGSTEN hat einen Plattenvertrag mit Reigning Phoenix Music abgeschlossen. Gemeinsam wird man noch 2024 das vierte Studioalbum “The Grand Inferno” veröffentlichen, die erste Single “Walborg” steht als Clip bei YouTube bereit.

Schlagzeuger Anders Johansson (ex-HAMMERFALL) kommentiert:

„Reigning Phoenix Music mag zwar ein neuer Name sein, aber die Menschen bei RPM gehören zu den erfahrensten der gesamten Branche. Wir sind gespannt, welche Pläne wir gemeinsam verwirklichen können.“

Die Modern / Alternative Metal-Band FUTURE PALACE präsentiert ihre neue Single “Uncontrolled” mit einem Musikvideo bei YouTube. Sängerin Maria erklärt den Inhalt des Songs:

“Der Kontrollverlust im Titel bezieht sich vor allem auf die eigene psychische Gesundheit und die eigene Entscheidungsfähigkeit. Man schafft es nicht mehr, morgens aufzustehen und muss sich immer wieder neu aufraffen. Man schafft es nicht mehr, Fristen einzuhalten oder überhaupt zu funktionieren. ‘Uncontrolled’ stellt dar, wie es sich anfühlt, wenn alles zusammenbricht und hoffnungslos erscheint.”

“Uncontrolled” folgt auf die Single “Malphas” – das letzte Album “Run” erschien im Jahr 2022.

Die Modern Thrash Metal-Band DUST BOLT hat einen Plattenvertrag mit AFM Records abgeschlossen. Das fünfte Studioalbum trägt den Titel “Sound & Fury” und erschien am 23. Februar 2024 über das neue Label. Jetzt hat die Formation eine spezielle Akustikversion ihres Songs “Disco Nnection” bei YouTube veröffentlicht – aufgenommen wurde der Clip im Backstage München.

Zum Release veröffentlichte die Gruppe die Single “I Am The One” bei YouTube. Einen weiteren Höreindruck bietet zudem der Clip “Leave Nothing Behind” bei YouTube. Außerdem haben DUST BOLT mit dem Musikvideo “Disco Nnection” sowie “Burning Pieces” zwei weitere Songs der Platte im Netz geteilt.

Einige der neuen Tracks kann man sich seit geraumer Zeit anhören: Mit “New Flame” gibt es seit Anfang Oktober ein weiteres Lyric-Video . Zuvor gab es auch zum Titeltrack ein Video: “Sound & Fury” gibt’s bei YouTube.

Mit  “I Witness  bei YouTube veröffentlichten DUST BOLT schon im Juli die erste Single von “Sound & Fury”. Die Formation erläutert den Entstehungsprozess der Platte:

“Als wir den Prozess für dieses Album gestartet haben, hatten wir im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes nichts. Kein Geld, keine Budgets, kein Label – nichts. Nichts, als eine Vision. Eine Vision und uns. So haben wir begonnen, die Drums in Berlin mit geplünderter Kohle von Omas Sparbuch zu recorden. Und so haben wir weiter gemacht. Alles aus eigener Kraft und Hand. Eine Studio gebaut, das Engineering gelernt. Bis ich mich als Hauptproduzent (zusammen mit einem Freund und fast schon 5. Bandmember) in einem Keller in München wiederfand. Stunden, Tage, Wochen. Am Ende, konnten wir uns erneut glücklich schätzen mit Moritz Enders für das Mixing & Mastering (u.A. für Casper, Silbermond, Kraftklub, The Intersphere) den Kreis unserer Ideen und Vision zu schließen.

Dieses Album markiert nicht nur die Wiedergeburt, sondern den Anfang einer neuen Ära für DUST BOLT. Für Metal in und aus Deutschland. Denn wir sind heiß & wir sind ready. Wir haben so Einiges zu erzählen. Denn das war lediglich erst der Anfang…“

Die Melodic Death Metal / Industrial-Band CYPECORE hat Ende Februar einen neuen Song online gestellt: “Doomsday Parade” ist u.a. via YouTube als Audiostream verfügbar.

Auch der vorherige Preview-Track “Make Me Real” steht via YouTube und allen gängigen Streaming-Portalen auf Abruf bereit. Zudem hat das Quartett auch ein Musikvideo zum Song nachgelegt, ansehen kann man es bei YouTube. Dabei handelt es sich um den Titeltrack des gleichnamigen Albums, welches am 26. April 2024 erscheinen wird. Vorbestellen kann man die Platte als limitierte “Survivor Deluxe Box” (333 Stück) mit Powerbank, DogTag, Flagge und Patch über den bandeigenen Shop.

Die Single “Patient Zero” gibt es darüber hinaus als Visualizer-Clip bei YouTube. Auch den Track “Neoteric Gods” kann man in Bild und Ton bei YouTube sehen.

Für April und Mai 2024 hat die Formation zudem eine neue Tour angekündigt. Dabei spielen CYPECORE Konzerte in Nürnberg, Leipzig, München, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Essen, Köln, Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover und Heidelberg. In der Sschweiz steht eine Show in Aarau auf dem Programm. Tickets sind u.a. über die offizielle Bandhomepage erhältlich.
