Olli-Pekka „Oppu“ Laine (AMORPHIS, BARREN EARTH, MANNHAI) kombiniert mit seiner neuen Band Death Metal mit 70er Prog und Psychedelic Rock: OCTOPLOID veröffentlichten am 5. Juli 2024 ihr Debütalbum “Beyond The Aeons”.

Mit einem Video zu “The Hallowed Flame” stellen die Finnen nun einen weiteren Song des Albums mit einem Clip bei YouTube vor. Bei dem Track ist SWALLOW THE SUN-Sänger Mikko Kotamäki als Gast zu hören.

Die erste Single “Human Amoral” ist als Musikvideo bei YouTube abrufbar – als Gast ist Sänger Tomi Joutsen (AMORPHIS) zu hören. Die zweite Single ist ein gibt es ein Lyric-Video zu “The Dawns In Nothingness”. 

Laine berschreibt “Beyond The Aeons” so:

„ Meine musikalischen Wurzeln liegen im Metal der 80er und 90er Jahre sowie im Progrock der 70er. Das alles angereichert mit Psychedelic- und Stoner-Rock, so kann man  »Beyond The Aeons« eigentlich ganz gut beschrieben. Ich habe lange davon geträumt, für mich ganz alleine Musik zu machen, weshalb OCTOPLOID ein wichtiger Schritt   in meiner Karriere sind. Für das Albums brauchte es jedoch den richtigen Zeitpunkt, die richtigen Mitstreiter und die richtigen Einstellung.“

Aufgenommen wurde “Beyond The Aeons” im E-Studio, den Mix übernahm Petri Majuri, das Mastering wiederum David Castillo. Für das Artwork zeichnet Orion Landau verantwortlich.

Für OCTOPLOID spielt Olli-Pekka Laine nicht nur Bass, sondern auch Keyboard und Gitarre, auch den Gesang hat der Finne selbst aufgenommen. Zur OCTOPLOID-Besetzung gehören außerdem Schlagzeuger Mikko Pietinen (MANNHAI, KASMIR), Gitarrist Peter Salonen (THE KINKY THING), Keyboarder Kim Rantala (ex-AMORPHIS) und Sänger Mikko Kotamäki (SWALLOW THE SUN), der die Band bei Konzerten unterstützt.

Mit einem Video zu “Aftermath” stellen THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER einen ersten Track ihres kommenden Albums “Servitude” vor. Das zehnte Album der Melodic Death Metal-Band erscheint am 27. September 2024 via Metal Blade Records.

Nach dem Tod des THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER-Frontman Trevor Strnad im Jahr 2022 entschied sich die Band, mit neuer Besetzung weiterzumachen: Gitarrist Brian Eschbach übernimmt dazu den Posten am Mikrofon, Gitarrist Ryan Knight kehrte zur Band zurück.

Gitarrist Brandon Ellis blickt zurück auf die Zeit nach Strnads Tod:

“Der Aufschrei nach Trevors Tod hat uns gezeigt, wie wichtig unsere Musik für viele Menschen war, und wie wichtig es ist, dass wir zu seinen Ehren weitermachen. Wir wussten, was zu tun war, auch wenn der Druck immens war. Wir haben alles gegeben, dieses Album fühlt sich richtig an. Ich bin stolz auf das Album und stolz auf uns fünf. Man kann es nie allen recht machen, aber ich weiß, dass diese Musik eine heilende und positive Kraft für diejenigen sein wird, die sich darauf einlassen!”

“Ich musste mich einfach voll reinhängen”, sagt Eschbach über “Servitude” und seine neue Rolle in der Band. “Es war einfacher, Texte für dieses Album zu schreiben als die drei Songs, die von mir kommen. Ich suchte mir ein Thema aus, recherchierte es und tauchte einfach ein. Obwohl ich so etwas noch nie zuvor gemacht hatte, lief es wie von selbst, als ich erst einmal angefangen hatte.”

Gitarren, Bass und den Gesang nahm die Band in THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER-Gitarrist Brandon Ellis’ Studio in New Jersey auf. Die Drums wurden mit Mark Lewis in Nashville, Tennessee eingespielt.

Now, with her debut single, NOT HOT, from her forthcoming EP DRAMA, Lourene is stepping into a new chapter of her musical tale. Living up to her reputation as a queen of strange elegance and genre-blending poetics, she bridges post-punk, grunge, and electronic vibes.

‘It’s about breaking beauty standards in order to reconnect with the natural female power that is inside of all of us – a force that can save our world from collapse,” says Lourene.

NOT HOT cleverly challenges the myth of ‘hotness,’ proving once again that Lourene is anything but ordinary. This energetic manifesto tackles self-empowerment, body image, and reclaiming female energy with the subtlety of a sledgehammer wrapped in velvet. It confronts society’s obsession with physical perfection, offering a rousing anthem for those who refuse to be shackled by impossible beauty standards. The song rejects the pressure to conform, celebrating the freedom to redefine beauty on one’s own terms. It’s the culmination of Lourene’s most profound personal transformation, a baptism for her spiritual path, and a reminder that true beauty is elusive and undefinable.

Directed by Lourene herself, the video showcases her artistry and her bold creative vision. Set against the stunning landscapes of Cat Ba and Ä�ảo Phụ Nữ , ‘NOT HOT’ is an exploration of self-discovery through three distinct personas. The location of the video derives its name from a legend involving women who lived on or visited the island, with local folklore filling in the sparse historical records with tales of brave women who defended the region or contributed to its cultural heritage. These stories suggest the island was a gathering place for women from nearby areas for traditional rituals or as a sanctuary during conflicts, contributing to its mysterious and revered status.

“…I embody the raw power of my wild punk mermaid soul unleashing uninhibited energy amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Cat Ba,” says Lourene. “Cat Ba…serves as a powerful backdrop for this transformation. Then, I transition into my pure and sensual inner child, showcasing vulnerability and a connection to innocence. Finally, I appear as my urban persona, navigating the urban scenery of Haiphong. Essentially, it’s about breaking beauty standards in order to reconnect with the natural female power that is inside of everyone. This force can save our world from collapse.”

This whimsical dance between these three facets reflects the many layers of our identities and the perpetual interplay between our wild instincts, our inner child, and the masks we wear for the world. The video highlights nature as a binding force, the city’s undeniable influence, and the universal wellspring of inner strength that resides within each of us. Now Italy’s Monoscopes offer You’re Gonna Be Mine, a charming new single and video by the Woyzeck Traumfabrik. This track hails from their second album, Endcyclopedia, released last January by Big Black Car Records. It’s quite the delightful number, with a sprinkle of whimsy. Imagine a noise cavalcade accompanied by dreamlike scenery—echoes and distortions wandering through a psychedelic and eerie forest.

The song speaks of intense longing and an unwavering determination to win someone’s love. The singer grapples with temptation, feeling themselves fall ever deeper. Despite the hurdles, they fully embrace their hopeful (and perhaps slightly delulu) confidence that this person will eventually be theirs. It’s a tale of persistence, hope, and a steadfast belief in the inevitable reciprocation of their affections.

In 2015, Monoscopes came into being, guided by Paolo Mioni—a multi-instrumentalist from Padua and former member of Italy’s Jennifer Gentle. Joining him were veterans of the North-East Italian indie scene: Francesco Sicchieri on drums and percussion, Francesco Pagliarin on guitar and bass, and Marco Degli Esposti, who handles bass, guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals. With their combined talents, Monoscopes evolved into a full-fledged band. Their sound, reminiscent of Spiritualized, Built to Spill, and Interpol, is both familiar and refreshingly unique.

In 2021, Monoscopes treated us to their debut album, Painkillers And Wine, released via Big Black Car Records, their very own label. Not ones to rest on their laurels, they began recording their second album, Endcyclopedia, at Marco Degli Esposti’s Happenstance Recording Studio. This new record sees the band scaling new heights in lyrics, songwriting, and performance.

Between these bookends, you’ll find a delightful assortment of tales of ordinary madness, a potpourri of emotions and events, and a no-holds-barred exploration into human nature. It’s like a whimsical journey through the labyrinth of the human psyche, with a few amusing detours along the way.

Released in January 2024, Endcyclopedia boasts some delightful guest appearances by Tommaso Cerasuolo, the lead singer of Perturbazione, and Francesco Candura, who lent his bass skills to Jennifer Gentle for many years.

Die Progressive Metal-Band FADING ECHOES hat einen Labeldeal bei Wormholedeath unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Griechen ihr neues Album “Shadow of Another” veröffentlichen. Es ist das erste Album des Trios, welches aus Sänger und Bassist Dimitris Stratikis, Pianist und Keyboarder Vasilis Sarou sowie Gitarrist Petros Printezis (AFTERIMAGE) besteht. Als Session-Musiker wirkten Gitarrist Jim Politis und Drummer Nick Vell (LUCIFER’S CHILD, CHAOSTAR) mit. Ein Release-Termin steht noch aus. Mit “The First Step Forward” gibt es nun ein Lyric-Video.

“”The First Step Forward” ist eine Hymne der Resilienz und Transformation. Mit Themen wie der Überwindung von Widrigkeiten und der Suche nach einer besseren Zukunft ermutigt der Song die Zuhörer, vergangene Kämpfe zu überwinden und neue Anfänge zu wagen”, sagt die Band.

SÓLSTAFIR stellen einen neuen Song vor und haben ein Video zu “Hin Helga Kvöl” bei YouTube veröffentlicht.

“Es ist ein Lied über den Tod”, erklärt SÓLSTAFIR-Sänger und Gitarrist Aðalbjörn Tryggvason. “Es geht um die Erkenntnis, dass wir eher früher als später sterben, wir sollten uns bewusst sein, dass alles ein Ende haben wird. Der Song becshreibt die persönliche Vorstellung von Ragnarök – oder Armageddon. Doch was passiert danach? Werden wir wiedergeboren oder sind wir nur Futter für die Würmer? “

SÓLSTAFIR arbeiten derzeit an einem neuen Album, das noch in diesem Jahr erscheinen wird. Veröffentlicht wird die neue Platte der Isländer via Century Media, die Band hat vor kurzem einen Plattenvertrag bei dem Label unterschrieben.

Aðalbjörn Tryggvason hat eine besondere Verbindung zu Century Media Records:

“Wir sind schon seit langer Zeit Fans. Ich habe die Hälfte meiner Death Metal-Sammlung in den 90er Jahren von ihnen gekauft. Wir haben unsere Karriere auf einem deutschen Label begonnen und jetzt sind wir zurück bei einem – und wir freuen uns auf viele weitere Jahre!”

Die Thrash Metal-Band MYTHOLOGIK hat nach dem Lyric-Video zu “Scorched Earth” und dem Video-Clip zu “Lord Death” mit “Satanael” ein weiteres Lyric-Video ihres kommenden Albums “Blood in the Sky” veröffentlicht. Es ist das erste Album des texanischen Duos, welches aus Multi-Instrumentalist BRYAN ECKERMANN (SCARS OF THE FLESH) und Sänger Joe Gregory besteht. Zuvor hat die Band mit eine selbstbetitelten EP debütiert.

Die niederländische Singer-Songwriterin CHARLOTTE WESSELS (ex-DELAIN) meldet sich mit der neuen Single „Chasing Sunsets“ zurück, die durch ein Musikvideo ergänzt wurde. Das erste traditionelle Soloalbum The Obsession, das am 20. September 2024 über Napalm Records erscheinen wird, verspricht eine erzählerische Erkundung von Angst und Befreiung. Mit Gastauftritten von Simone Simons von Epica und Alissa White-Gluz von Arch Enemy mischt es eingängige Elemente mit progressiven und härteren Soundscapes.

Die Emocore / Alternative Rock-Band DOWNCAST hat nach dem Opener “raincheck” mit “your band sucks anyway” einen weiteren Video-Clip ihrer kommenden EP “WTF Happened” veröffentlicht. Zuvor haben die Engländer mit “bittersweet” einen weiteren Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

“”bittersweet” wurde zum Gedenken an einen engen Freund geschrieben, den wir vor knapp zwei Jahren verloren haben. Es beschreibt die widersprüchlichen Gefühle von Zuneigung und Trauer, die entstehen, wenn man einen Ort wieder besucht, der mit jemandem verbunden ist, der nicht mehr unter uns weilt”, erklärt Sänger Liam Edwards.

“WTF Happened” folgt dem 2022er-Debütalbum “i saw hell when i was with you” nach. Release-Termin ist der 6. September 2024.

UNTO OTHERS melden sich mit einer neuen Single zurück und haben ein Video zu “Raigeki” bei YouTube  geteilt.

Mit “Raigeki” veröffentlichten  UNTO OTHERS die zweite Stand-alone-Singl ein diesem Jahr. Schon im Mai meldete sich die Band mit dem ersten neuen Material seit dem 2021er Album “Strength” zurück und veröffentlichte ein Video zu “Butterfly” bei YouTube.  „Butterfly“ wurde von Tom Dalgety in Portland produziert und abgemischt, das Musikvideo kommt von Zev Deans.

UNTO OTHERS sind im Sommer auf Tour, die Band spielt nicht nur auf einigen Festivals, sondern auch in Clubs in Berlin, München und Hamburg.

Das WISDOM TOOTH FESTIVAL geht 2024 in eine neue Runde: Gefeiert wird am 12. und 13. Juli 2023 am “Wildbachstadion” Hochstein in 86657 Bissingen. Tickets gibt es ab sofort zum Preis von 82,-€ über den offiziellen Festival-Shop im Vorverkauf. Tagestickets schlagen mit je 55,-€ zu Buche.

Nun hat der veranstaltende “Tooth Fairy”-Verein für den Vortag eine Warm-up-Party angekündigt: Gefeiert wird am 11. Juli 2024 von 20:00 Uhr bis 00:00Uhr auf dem Festivalgelände. Der Eintritt ist frei und während der Happy Hour (20:00-22:00 Uhr) kostet das Bier lediglich 2,-€. Neben Musik wird zum Zeitvertreib auch Bierpong angeboten.

Im Februar veranstalteten die Organisatoren einen Bandcontest für lokale Künstler:innen; Preis war ein Eröffnungsslot auf der Mainstage des Festivals. Letztendlich für sich entscheiden konnten diesen Wettbewerb INTERSTELLAR DUST, die nun auf dem WISDOM TOOTH FESTIVAL 2024 auftreten dürfen.

Zuvor wurden ENSLAVE THE CHAIN für das Festival bestätigt. Außerdem spielen FIDDLER’S GREEN, die wie EQUILIBRIUM ganz oben auf dem Billing Platz nehmen. Letztere hat das Open Air Anfang Dezember als ersten Headliner bestätigt. EQUILIBRIUM werden 2024 zum ersten Mal auf dem Festival zu Gast sein. Außerdem sind HIVE LEADER, SCHATTENMANN, THE PRIVATEER, DIEVERSITY sowie SOUL DEMISE mit dabei.

Schon seit Juli im Lineup sind INFECTED RAIN, die eigentlich schon für 2023 vorgesehen waren, aber aufgrund von terminlichen Überschneidungen letztlich absagen mussten. Weiterhin mit dabei sind TROLLFAUST, STONES OF JORDAN, NITROGEN sowie FRAGMENTATION.

Double-Bass: Steve Di Giorgio (TESTAMENT, DEATH) und  Jeroen Paul Thesseling (OBSCURA, PESTILENCE) haben sich zur Prog Metal-Fusion-Band QUADVIUM zusammengetan, das Projekt existiert seit 2019. Zur aktuellen Besetzung gehören außerdem Schlagzeuger Yuma van Eekelen (OUR OCEANS, PESTILENCE) und Gitarrist Jennings Smith (MYTH OF I, KAATHE).

Nun haben QUADVIUM einen Plattenvertrag bei Agonia Records unterschrieben, das erste Album soll im Herbst 2024 veröffentlicht werden.

Fest steht zudem, wer sich um das Artwork kümmert: Das Cover der noch unbetitelten Platte kommt von Travis Smith.

Unter dem Banner der Burgentour werden die Spielleute von IN EXTEMO wieder durch die mittelalterlichen Burgen und Schlösser des Landes ziehen und ihr Publikum auf eine einzigartige Reise in ihre eigene musikalische Vergangenheit mitnehmen. In the early 2000s, amidst the restless streets of New York City, Interpol emerged as the vanguard of the post-punk revival, carving out a distinct niche in the alternative music landscape. Their debut album, Turn on the Bright Lights, was a luminous eruption, swiftly positioning them as titans of the genre. With the release of Antics in 2004, Interpol’s stature was cemented, thanks to brooding, atmospheric tracks like “Slow Hands” and “Evil.” Over the years, the band has consistently delivered critically acclaimed works, culminating in their seventh album, The Other Side of Make-Believe, released in July 2022, which showcases their enduring prowess and innovative spirit.

This fall, Interpol celebrates the 20th anniversary of Antics, with a tour featuring the entire record. Today, they’ve announced three US shows in Chicago, Austin, and Los Angeles, bookending their previously announced UK, Ireland, and EU dates. Each city will host a special guest: Deafheaven, …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, and The Walkmen, respectively.

Tickets will go on sale Friday at 10am local time.

In April, Interpol played the biggest show of their career at Mexico City’s Zócalo, a place with enough space for 280,000 enthusiastic souls. Billed as a free gig, it was Interpol’s way of saying, “Gracias” to their devoted Mexican fans who have been there for them through thick and thin, and possibly through some questionable haircuts. The band turned the iconic main square into a sea of music and memories, proving once again that Interpol, much like tacos, is best enjoyed with a crowd.

Regaining autonomy after a toxic relationship is a profound and essential transformation. It means reclaiming one’s sense of self, independence, and control that the abuser sought to diminish. This path involves healing deep emotional scars, rebuilding one’s self-worth, and redefining personal boundaries. It is about rediscovering one’s voice and strength, making choices that honor one’s well-being. Restoring autonomy is vital for moving forward, embracing self-empowerment, and stepping into a life unshackled from the shadows of past abuse. Curtain’s powerful new single and video, Against The Wall, touches upon this theme, and the power one has to overcome these moments of darkness.

Sometimes, out of silence, unexpected and precious music movements arise. Curtain is one such phenomenon. The French band’s debut album, No Flowers By Request in 2000, and their 2006 release Urban Disease, have cemented them as torchbearers of the French coldwave scene, blending melody with a raw, energetic intensity. After a long hiatus, they marked the 20th anniversary of No Flowers by Request with a deluxe reissue in November 2021 via MusikÖeye.

Between 2022 and 2023, Curtain reasserted their presence with numerous gigs, sharing the stage with Christian Death, Selofan, and Kontravoid. During this period, the duo of Ema.B (guitar & vocals) and François P (bass) crafted new songs, releasing three singles. Curtain’s distinct style is a fusion of danceable, powerful rhythms, syncopated melodic bass lines, unique guitar sounds and riffs, original synth samples, and intensely expressive vocals.

Against The Wall, the opening track of Curtain’s latest album, spins the tale of a woman’s desperate escape from her partner’s violence. While dark, it is not without hope. This post-punk anthem ushers listeners into the band’s world, depicting a night fraught with internal battles. She resists the pull of home, evading violence and unexpected threats. Amidst the silence and mental turmoil, she fights on, determined not to surrender to the insidious grip of her fears.

In the video below, we find ourselves drawn into a nocturnal tale. A woman wanders through various spaces, each more enigmatic than the last, as she tries to evade a mysterious masked figure. Her journey through the night is both haunting and surreal, a dance of light and darkness, fear and determination.

Curtain have long been a prominent force in the French coldwave music scene. Their distinct blend of melodic, energetic, and intense sounds has garnered them a dedicated following, both in their home country and beyond.

Curtain’s new album Between Us, released on 17 March by Manic Depression Records, features eight tracks that traverse a landscape of melodic pop, dark-electro, post-punk, and indie rock.

Following their release party at Cirque Electrique in Paris, Curtain performed live on 25 May 2024 at Le Trabendo, sharing the stage with iconic bands Martin Dupont and Corpus Delicti. During this event, their new video for Against the Wall was showcased.

Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Angela Chambers has been a treasure in the underground dark synth scene for several years. As a member of nouveaux-new beat project Dust, the new wave-inspired Waking Dreams, and Berlin-based art collective Neu West, her creative energy knows no bounds. Recently, the chameleon-esque Chambers has been releasing a string of singles under her own name, operating in a more alternative pop-based sphere, expanding her sonic palate to incorporate a series of more eclectic influences. With that in mind, we’re honored to premiere the video for new single “Say It to My Face.” Check it out below.

“Say It to My Face” is a glossy, dark pop gem, featuring throbbing low end, syncopated synth leads, and r&b-flavored beats and snaps that recall both Annie Lennox and Lana Del Rey to mind. Chambers’ vocal are both smooth and biting as she delivers lines that drip with passion, seemingly wearing her heart on her sleeve as the song takes flight with an incredibly catchy and massive chorus. The video, shot on location in Los Angeles and directed by Jonathan Mariande, features Chambers in a lavish, disco ball-inspired dress, masquerading in a beautiful poolside mansion with stained glass windows and similarly ornate features. The video doubles up on the track’s scathing lyrics and passionate delivery, with Chambers delivering a tour de force performance, supported by Konstantina Focas, also pantomiming key moments as a more subdued domestic worker.

Chambers is currently collaborating with Nashville-based producer Doug Romanow and Grammy-award winning producer Bruce Sugar, with an EP due out this year followed by a full-length LP in 2025. Old Cat’s Drama, a deathrock / gothic rock trio from Kyiv, has released a new single titled U Pitmu (Into The Darkness). This is the band’s second single since Russia invaded Ukraine, and true to form, the band offers some scathing political commentary in its words.

U Pitmu, inspired by the grit of 2000s deathrock and the raw edge of 2010s dark punk, hurls itself into the fray with riffs that echo the footsteps of a traveler on a one-way path into the unknown.

The lyrics unfold a descent into darkness, both tangible and abstract. A burning aurora lights the way to an abyss, a stark mirror to the chaos and destruction engulfing Ukraine. The speaker’s plunge into this void is driven by unsettling premonitions and a yearning for oblivion, mirroring the profound despair and anxiety that grip those caught in the throes of conflict.

Amidst this bleak landscape, voices falter, and a piercing light carves through the gloom, hinting at a fierce struggle for survival and a fragile glimmer of hope for peace. U Pitmu takes us on a harrowing ride through fear, regret, and the search for solace. It captures the essence of inner turmoil and the wait for a dawn that promises both terror and a strange sense of release.

In the end, U Pitmu challenges us to ponder the worth of paradise itself, laying bare the intricate dance of struggle and existence. The song stands as a testament to the complex emotions born from conflict, pulling listeners into a world where hope and despair are inextricably linked.

Since their inception as a duo in 2011, Old Cat’s Drama has etched out a distinctive place in the traditional goth music scene, becoming something of a semi-cult phenomenon within their hometown. Their body of work, highlighted by the EP Pretty Things and the album Come And See, has firmly established them as a noteworthy force in the genre.

The band’s creative soul is embodied by its founding members. Herold E.’s eerie vocals and poignant lyrics set the tone for their sound, while Divuar L.’s music composition and evocative guitar work create a haunting backdrop. In 2019, a significant shift occurred with the arrival of Oleksii Sup, formerly of the band Quadrille (Кадриль). His presence injected new life and vision into Old Cat’s Drama, adding depth and vigor to their already distinctive style.

Together, this trio pens music that resonates with the melancholy and introspection inherent to goth, exploring the shadows of existence with vivid pictures of longing and despair, hope and desolation.

Ahoy there, Nereids!  Nauti Siren has just dropped anchor — with their delightful debut single, Mermaid of the Year. The new duo spins a yarn about a harrowing, late-night escapade with a riptide that whisked frontwoman Jessie Evans (Subtonix, The Vanishing) into the ocean—a story that’s now immortalized in the track’s undulating beat, shimmering synths, and whirling rhythm.  cheekily dips a toe into the ’70s with an electronic twist that’s anything but dated. Elements of disco, new jazz, calypso, reggae, and electronic dub into a hypnotic dance floor jam about a brush with Poseidon.

The song is paired with a vivid, kitschy DIY video sprinkled with nautical nods. It’s a visual feast, playful and surreal, much like a dream concocted by a seaside carnival. In it, we meet a mermaid with a flair for the dramatic and a penchant for environmentalism. With the confidence of someone who’s faced down the scariest of sea monsters, she revels in her underwater sovereignty, darting through the depths with an effortless grace that would make any human swimmer green with envy, or at the very least algae.

Our aquatic heroine embraces her oceanic roots, winning the admiration of all sea creatures and even a few puzzled beachgoers. Her beach isn’t just a stretch of sand; it’s a haven of joy, a sanctuary where she frolics in the waves, picks up trash with the enthusiasm of someone finding buried treasure, and basks in the sun with her daughters, living life one carefree splash at a time.

The ocean and beach are her domains, brimming with happiness and triumph. She glides through the water, a mermaid on a mission, leaving a trail of bubbles and a hint of mischief in her wake. With a flick of her tail and a twinkle in her eye, she invites us all to join her in this sun-soaked paradise, where the seashells sing, the waves whisper secrets, and even the most mundane tasks, like tidying up the beach, are transformed into grand adventures.

So, if you ever find yourself by the shore, keep an eye out for our mermaid friend. You might spot her at the water’s edge, orchestrating a sandcastle competition, or perhaps leading an impromptu beach clean-up with the grace and authority only a true oceanic queen can muster. And if you’re lucky, she might just invite you to dive into her world.

DJ Dmitry is a figure who strides confidently through the annals of music history, a name that resonates with the echoes of New York’s iconic Pyramid Club. As a co-leader of the transformative dance, fashion, and art collective Deee-Lite, Dmitry infused a vintage flair with funk, ushering these elements into the digital age with a radical understanding. Jessie Evans emerged as a luminary in the 2000s San Francisco post-punk scene, her talents too immense to be contained by its confines. Cutting her teeth with Subtonix and The Vanishing, she soon sought new horizons across Europe and South America. As a solo artist, she collaborated with legends like Toby Dammit, Steve Mackay of Iggy and the Stooges, and Budgie of Siouxsie and the Banshees. Her music evolved into a distinctive blend of world rhythms, disco, jazz, reggae, and rocksteady, all tinged with an esoteric spirituality. Jessie’s life continues to expand, from a local San Francisco art hero to a global solo artist, and now embracing her roles as wife and mother. Her sound is a confluence of the experimental and the precise, daring yet always in command, embodying a cool sense of control that defines her unique artistic fingerprint.

As Nauti Siren embarks on their musical voyage, they’ll be making waves soon at – where else? The famed Coney Island Mermaid Parade, the most fitting of debuts. So, anchor’s aweigh for this catch of the day.

Und wieder erreicht mich ein neues Post Punk Wave Juwel, wobei das britische Elektro Duo KVB mit Sängerin/Keybaorderin KAT DAY und Singer Songwriter sowie Multi Instrumentalist NICHOLAS WOOD ja bisher schon so einiges an wunderbaren Platten veröffentlicht hat. Übrigens wurden sie in 2010 gegründet und residierten zwischendurch in Berlin, wo es ja früher oder später fast alle kreativen Indie / Alternativ Bands hin verschlägt und sind nun aber wieder in Manchester beheimatet. Und es sind auf „Tremors“ wieder kleine elektronische, dunkle Perlen, aber auch moderne, stimmungsvolle Meisterwerke entstanden, die sie in dieser, ihrer so typischen Coldwave Stilrichtung, auch schon bei den ersten, früheren Platten hatten mit einfließen lassen. Sozusagen haben sich THE KVB von ihrer eigenen Vergangenheit inspirieren lassen. Irgendwo zwischen BEACH HOUSE/ A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS oder HANTE/JESUS AND MARY CHAIN bzw. LEBANON HANOVER / BOY HARSHER/frühe NEW ORDER pendeln sich die Klanglandschaften ein. Also „Back to the Roots“ könnte man sagen. Das konnte man auch bei der  Single „Labyrinths“ vom Album hören, dem wohl wildesten Stück in dem es inhaltlich um historische Subjektivität und der Flexibilität der Wahrheit im Aufbau von Geschichten geht – so die Band. Das selber erstellte Video dazu zeigt einen heftigen Mix aus blendenden Röhrenbildschirmen verbunden mit analogen Störungen, sowie digitalisierten Naturaufnahmen, fraglos ein sehr ästhetisches Video seiner Art. Die 10 elektronischen Songs und vielschichtigen Klänge der Tracks mit strahlenden Gitarrensounds an sich, sind wie immer sehr abwechslungsreich und unterhaltsam, mal dynamisch/hypnotisch daherkommend und begeistern mit einer berauschend, melodischen Atmosphäre zwischen kühlem Synth-Pop und düsteren Sound Scapes der Post Punk Ära. Ein sehr gelungenes Werk und beeindruckendes emotionales Album , das sich auf jeden Fall lohnt.

“I love remixes because they have a mind of their own,” adds Augustus Muller of Boy Harsher. “I typically remove everything and follow the vocals. Chelsea’s voice is so beautiful and vulnerable on this track, and I was just trying to make room for it. I was getting a bit of an R&B vibe and tried to lean into that.”

The Roundhouse, London, UK 9th June 2024Gary Numan - “Replicas / The Pleasure Principle 45th Anniversary Tour 2024” It’s been 45 years since GARY NUMAN released ‘Replicas’ and ‘The Pleasure Principle’. They were released in 1979 six months apart. ‘Replicas’ - which was recorded at Gooseberry Studios in London - was released on the 4th of April of that year and ‘The Pleasure Principle’ on the 7th of September. Both were released on Beggars Banquet with ‘Replicas’ being the last album recorded as the TUBEWAY ARMY.
