Die Modern Metalcore-Band THE OKLAHOMA KID hat einen neuen Song veröffentlicht: “Ignoranz” kann man sich via YouTube als Musikvideo ansehen. Bei dem Stück arbeitete die Band mit CONSVMER zusammen.

Die vorherige Single “No Sympathy” gibt es als Visualizer-Clip bei YouTube. Auch der Track “Overpowered” steht via YouTube als Musikvideo bereit. Das Stück ist zugleich die erste Single seit dem Album “Tangerine Tragic” (2022).

Die Alternative / Industrial Metal-Band TURMION KÄTILÖT meldet sich mit einer neuen Single zurück. Das Besondere: “Schlachter” ist der erste deutschsprachige Song der Finnen und enthält ein Gastfeature von LORD OF THE LOST-Frontmann Chris Harms.

MC Raaka Pee erklärt dazu:

“‘Schlachter’ behandelt, wie der Name schon andeutet, Themen rund um das Schlachten, die sich sowohl auf das konkrete Schlachten als auch auf metaphorische Bedeutungen beziehen, wie geistiges oder gesellschaftliches Zerreißen und Zerstören. Die Idee für diesen Track entstand aus dem Wunsch, meine jüngere Version herauszufordern, indem ich einen Remix unserer ersten Single ‘Teurastaja’ machte. Wie üblich, liefen die Dinge positiv aus dem Ruder, und der Track wurde unsere erste Single auf Deutsch. Chris hat den Text so bearbeitet, dass er die Stimmung der heutigen Welt widerspiegelt. Am 28. Juni 2024 erschien „Memoria Viva“, das dritte Album von WHITE STONES. Die Band um OPETH-Bassist Martín Mendéz hat zur Veröffentlichung ein Lyric-Video zum Titel “Vencedores Vencidos” hochgeladen.

Mit einem Clip zu “D-Generación” stellte die Death Metal-Formation im Mai einen weiteren Vorgeschmack bereit. Auch ein Video zu “La Ira”, der ersten Single, ist vorab verfügbar.

Martín Mendéz konnte mit „Memoria Viva“ einen schon lange gehegten Plan endlich umsetzen:

 „Ich wollte schon länger eine Platte auf Spanisch aufnehmen. Eigentlich wollten wir unser zweites Album, „Dancing Into Oblivion“ schon auf spanisch machen, mussten dann aber feststellen, dass es doch nicht dafür geeignet war. Dieses Mal haben wir es durchgezogen, auf das Ergebnis sind wir ziemlich stolz.“

„Das Album auf Spanisch einzusingen und die Tatsche, dass wir uns keinerlei kreative Grenzen auferlegt hatten, waren spannende Erfahrungen für mich. Ich glaube, dass wir einen Weg gefunden haben, den WHITE-STONES-Sound zu erneuern und ein einzigartiges Album erschaffen konnten“, ergänzt Sänger Eloi Boucherie.

„Memoria Viva“ entstand im Farm Of Sounds Studio in Barcelona, Gerard Porqueres kümmerte sich um Mix und Mastering. Das Schlagzeug kommt von Joan Carles Marí Tur, die Gitarrensoli von João Sassetti. Außerdem waren an dem Album weitere Gastmusiker beteiligt: Flötist José Ignacio Lagos und Keyboarder Joakim Svalberg.

Die Death Metal-Band GOD DETHRONED präsentieren ihr neues Album “The Judas Paradox” mit einer neuen Single: “Rat Kingdom” gibt es als Clip bei YouTube, den Hintergrund des Stück erklärt Sänger Henri Sattler:

„Dieser Song erzählt vom Vatikan, wo abseits des Weltgeschehens nach wie vor Unmengen an Geschehnissen vertuscht werden. Wer auch immer versucht dort auszupacken, verschwindet einfach in den Schatten der Gemäuer. Die anfänglichen Melodien verleihen dem Song eine hymnisch-bombastische Atmosphäre, bevor ein wahrer Black-Metal-Sturm hervorbricht und der Serpent King mit einem unnachahmlichen Gitarrensolo, mit dem er dem verstorbenen Jeff Hanneman Tribut zollt, ins Höllenlicht tritt.“

Zuvor teilten Niederländer bereits den Track “Asmodeus” bei YouTube.

Produziert wurde “The Judas Paradox” von der Band selbst, den Mix übernahm Henri Sattler selbst. Für das Mastering schließlich zeichnet Tony Lindgren verantwortlich. Die Platte erscheint am 6. September 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital.

Im Oktober sind GOD DETHRONED dann im Vorprorgamm von BATUSHKA live zu sehen.

Neben Interview-Ausschnitten umfasst das Video auch die Aufführung der drei Songs “Vortex”, “Wallflower” sowie “Dead Hands Feel No Pain” vom noch aktuellen Werk “Wallflowers” (2021). Aufgenommen wurde diese am 31. August 2023 im namengebenden Audiotree Studio in Chicago.

Mit “Mean Sugar” wird am 2. August 2024 via APF Records das neue Album der Stoner / Doom Metal-Band BARBARIAN HERMIT erscheinen. Es ist nach “Solitude and Savagery” (2018) das zweite Album der Engländer aus Manchester.

“Das Album handelt von dem, was wir kennen, und das ist die bittere Süße des Aufwachsens in einer nördlichen Stadt Englands. Es ist eine grobe Darstellung dessen, was es bedeutet, in den letzten Jahren wir zu sein: Jungs, die gegen ihren Willen in die Männlichkeit katapultiert wurden, in einer Zeit, in der sich alles verändert, und doch bleiben wir hier im tröstlichen und wachsamen Schatten der Pennine-Hügel”, sagt Sänger Simon Scarlett.

Es ist das erste Album der Italiener aus Udine nach zwölf Jahren Pause und das vierte Album insgesamt. Erscheinen soll das Album noch im Laufe dieses Jahres via Elevate Records. We resent the same things
William S. Burroughs, ever the literary magician, popularized his friend Brion Gysin’s “cut-up method,” a delightful form of textual collage. Take a piece of writing, snip it into bits, and then toss those pieces into the air to see how they land. The magic lies in the unexpected juxtapositions and fresh perspectives that emerge, tapping into the subconscious in ways that more orderly forms of writing might miss. It’s a bit like consulting an oracle, peering through a doorway into the unknown.

This technique caught the fancy of some intriguing minds—Patti Smith, Thom Yorke, David Lynch, and in particular, David Bowie. During his Diamond Dogs and Low phases, he would slice up printed texts—sometimes his own musings, other times snippets from newspapers—and then reassemble them, resulting in lyrical themes and imagery bubbling up from the depths of his subconscious, creating songs that were as surprising as they were profound. It’s a wonderful reminder that sometimes, a little chaos is all you need to uncover hidden treasures.

Tapping into this creative force, Los Angeles poet and performance artist Pat Salway, also known as Blone Noble, decided to dive into the deep end. He turned to his own diary entries, chronicling the end of a long relationship. Not one to do things by halves, he left his longtime home in a famous historic occult temple in the Hollywood Hills and moved to entirely new and unfamiliar territory, embracing the unknown with open arms and a curious mind.

“I decided to move into a skid row hotel and get rid of all possessions not directly linked to the creation of art, including my car,” he says. “The result has been as intended—a torrent of inspired activity and a deeper connection to my purpose.”

This curve ball in life resulted in something profound…in the case of Blone Noble, it’s become Life’s New Adventure, his first single and video of 2024 and the first in a series coming out over the summer that will culminate in the fall release of his debut EP.

The music for this track draws a playful nod to David Bowie’s Scary Monsters and Low era—just take a glance at that suit, the swagger, and the delivery. Add a sprinkle of Scott Walker’s A-side flair from the Nite Flights album, and you’ve got a recipe for something delightfully offbeat. In a realm filled with cookie-cutter approaches, Blone Noble dances to his own rhythm, keeping it all wonderfully fresh by embracing the unconventional in his songwriting. It’s like finding a rare bird in a forest of pigeons, reminding us that true artistry often lies in the unexpected.

The music video was directed and edited by Pat Salway for Veneer Publications and shot by cinematographer Yoni Shrira. We see him strutting throughout downtown LA, hopping turnstiles, riding the rails to an unknown destination, dancing on escalators. Wherever Blone Noble is headed, it is sure to be interesting.

Life’s New Adventure is out now on Veneer Publications. Blone Noble produced the track, recording the instrumentation at his studio at the Hotel Bristol in Downtown Los Angeles, with live drums and vocals recorded at his drummer Brendan Peleo-Lazar’s East Hollywood studio. Mixed and mastered by long-time collaborator Jonny Bell at Jazz Cats Studio in Long Beach, CA.

Blone Noble will embark on his first-ever European tour in support of the new release in July, with performances in Paris, Barcelona, and London. More dates TBA.

Mit “Splitscreen” ist am 28. Juni 2024 die gemeinsame Split der deutschen Blackened Punk Rock-Band AXIDS und der US-amerikanischen Hardcore-Band KNELT BEFORE erschienen. Nach dem Video-Clip zum Opener “Axidpelliarmus” gibt es mit “Axidstence Is Wayne” nun einen weiteren Video-Clip.

Die Split zeigt, wie die Jungs aus beiden Bands aufgewachsen sind: Popkultur, Videospiele und Punkrock. Parallelen und Unterschiede wurden von Rachid Lotf mit Liebe zum Detail für das Cover-Artwork inszeniert.

Nachdem die früheren Veranstalter des WITH FULL FORCE FESTIVALS in diesem Jahr mit einem neuen Festival namens FULL REWIND in Dresden im Schlachthof ihr Comeback eingeläutet haben, kehren Sie nun an den Flugplatz Roitzschjora zurück, wo das WITH FULL FORCE von 1999 bis 2016 stattgefunden hat.

Das FULL REWIND 2024 findet vom 2. bis 4. August statt. Geplant sind zwei Bühnen, ein zu Fuß erreichbares Campinggelände, die Veranstalter versprechen außerdem faire Preise – und die legendäre Erdbeer-Bowle.

Nun steht auch die Tageseinteilung fest, wobei eine Änderung im Nachhinein bereits angekündigt wurde: SICK OF IT ALL mussten krankheitsbedingt ihre Teilnahme absagen.

Zuvor bestätigte man außerdem DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER, SLOPE, CROWNSHIFT, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, H2O, IGNITE sowie die US-Thrash-Metal-Band TESTAMENT.

In der zweiten Bandwelle kündigten die Organisatoren zuletzt TERROR, LIFE OF AGONY, ELSTERGLANZ, EMMURE, EKTOMORF, RISE OF THE NORTHSTAR, ROTTING CHRIST, PRO-PAIN, EXCREMENTORY GRINDFUCKERS, TRAGEDY, STESY und DRILL STAR AUTOPSY an.

Die ersten Namen der Bands für das FULL REWIND 2024 hat man nun Mitte Oktober 2023 verraten: Das Billing führen AMON AMARTH als erster Headliner an. Außerdem mit dabei sind HATEBREED, SICK OF IT ALL, EMIL BULLS, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, BODYSNATCHER und MILKING THE GOATMACHINE.

Tickets gibt es zum Early-Bird-Preis von 129,-€ auf der offiziellen Festival-Website. Ein zusätzliches Parkticket schlägt dabei mit 35,-€ zu Buche.

Hinter dem FULL REWIND FESTIVAL stecken die Veranstalter des WITH FULL FORCE, die bis ins Jahr 2018 für das Event verantwortlichen waren. 2018 zogen sich Roland “Bogo” Ritter, Sven Borges und Mike Schorler zurück. Das ehemalige WITH FULL FORCE heißt seitdem FULL FORCE  und findet im Juni in Ferropolis zwischen Leipzig und Berlin statt, 2024 vom 21. bis 23. Juni 2024.

Los Angeles crooner Indiana Bradley’s authentic, melodic post-punk style collides beautifully with traces of rich Americana. In a story that could be called “From Cornfields to Carnivals,” Bradley has taken his Midwestern roots and transformed them into a whirlwind of spun yarns and a storied life that crisscrosses the world like the stamps on Carmen Sandiego’s passport.

As a journalist, Bradley collected stories like a connoisseur of human quirks, each one offering a fresh lens on our endlessly puzzling existence. Now, these wanderlust-infused tales have migrated into his music, transforming his songwriting into a globetrotter’s guide to the soul. Bradley’s musings dive into the big questions—life, death, the murky waters of morality, and that eternal dance between light and dark.

Bradley takes his globe-trotting wisdom and distills it into driving guitars and rhythmic keys, with lyrics that muse on the grand themes of life, death, good, and evil. His droning baritone growl channels the spirit of Nick Cave or Johnny Cash, while his faster-paced tracks give you a jolt reminiscent of Joy Division meeting Fugazi and INXS. His latest endeavor, Simulate—with bandmates Eddie Curi on bass, Lucas Aton on drums, Andy Rehfeldt on guitar, and Daddy Priest on guitar—serves up a blistering homage to the raw intensity of The Gun Club and Killing Joke. Simulate, off the album Canticles of Los Angeles, is a philosophical rock ‘n’ roll rollercoaster that dares you to hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

“Simulate is…a sonic-speed train wreck of a song that dares you not to listen to it,” says Bradley. “On the punkier side we used some thrashing guitars, rockabilly keys, and vocal effects to make it a wild ride. The video was filmed using live footage from a show at the infamous Rainbow Bar and Grill on LA’s sunset strip. The cool part is everyone in the video was a random guest of the bar that night and no paid actors or extras were used. Their natural raucousness, energy, and all out weirdness totally steal the show and I couldn’t be happier about that. I think the video shows that rock n roll is not dead.”

Directors of Photography Brian Bins, Veronica De La Rosa, and Doug Escobar used handheld cameras and camera eye glasses to immerse the viewer right into the performance and the glorious chaos. Buckle up, buttercup!

Thus far, Indiana Bradley has released one full-length LP, Ghost Star, and two live albums recorded at The Satellite and Harvard & Stone. Enlisting the talents of A.F.I. bass player Hunter Burgan, Bradley released the EP Pale City in the Spring of 2023. The work is produced and mixed by Burgan, who also plays guitar and bass on the tracks.

His most recent release, Canticles of Los Angeles was produced by Seth Olansky. The EP / mini album solidifies Bradley’s style as category-breaking, as the record haunts the listener with stories of pirates, Hollywood, heaven, hell, and redemption.

Receipt, an underground music artist emerging from the quiet corners of West Tennessee, has unleashed their scorching new industrial post-punk single “Sunhead,” marking the project’s second release. With driving drums, bass that pulses like a heartbeat, and a blend of analogue and VST synths, all wrapped in abrasive production, the track plunges headlong into a labyrinth of electronic chaos.

“Sunhead” defiantly confronts both societal norms and personal struggles with the raw emotion of grunge, casting the sun as a metaphorical antagonist. The lyrics vividly depict a struggle against false fronts and the crushing weight of expectations. Imagine our protagonist, stripped bare and vulnerable on cold steel, battling inner demons and the pressures of the world.

Yet amidst the stark imagery, there’s a flicker of rebellion within the tempest. Even as the song descends into chaotic crescendos and overlapping choruses of anguish, “Sunhead” remains a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. It’s a defiant stare into life’s inevitable disappointments and contradictions, a declaration that says, “Though you may seek to mar my life and blind my eyes, I shall not submit.”

On the theme of the song, Reid Gentry, the artist behind Sunhead, enigmatic states, “Every Good Boy Does Fine.”

WITHIN THE RUINS haben für 23. August 2024 ihr neues Album “Phenomena II” angekündigt. Darauf enthalten ist auch die Single “Castle In The Sky”, zu der die Progressive Deathcore-Band ein Musikvideo produziert hat. Warum die Formation einen Nachfolger ihres “Phenomena”-Albums (2014) geschrieben hat, erklärt Gitarrist Joe Cocchi:

“Wir hatten eine Handvoll Songs geschrieben und waren auf der Suche nach Inspiration. Wir wollten das zehnjährige Jubiläum von ‘Phenomena’ feiern, weil es ein Höhepunkt unserer Karriere war. Ich schrieb ein Demo, das Steve an ‘Phenomena’ erinnerte. Es war also seine Idee, ‘Phenomena II’ zu machen. Die Stile haben sich wirklich angeglichen, was die einzigartigen Gitarreneffekte und die Themen angeht, bei denen jeder Track eine Geschichte aus der Sicht einer Comicfigur erzählt.”
