“Whitewashed Tomb” ist der Titel der neuen Single aus dem Hause AS I LAY DYING. Die Nummer folgt auf die Preview-Songs “We Are The Dead“, “The Cave We Fear To Enter” sowie  “Burden” – einen Clip zum Track gibt es bei YouTube. Mit “Burden” leiten die US-Amerikaner eine neue Ära ein: Es ist das erste neue Stück mit runderneuertem Line-up, seit Ryan Neff (Bass), Nick Pierce (Drums) und Ken Susi (Schlagzeug) zu Band gestoßen sind.

Alle drei Singles stammen vom kommenden Album “Through Storms Ahead”, das am 15. November 2024 via Napalm Records auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital erscheinen wird. Produziert wurde die Single “Burden” von Phil Sgrosso sowie Hiram Hernandez, den Mix übernahm Aaron Chaparian und das Mastering Ted Jensen. Der Nachfolger des Studioalbums “Shaped By Fire” (2019) soll noch 2024 via Napalm Records erscheinen.

AS I LAY DYING haben die Europa-Tournee 2024 abgesagt – vier Mitglieder sind raus
Für November und Dezember 2024 hatten AS I LAY DYING zudem eine Headline-Tour geplant. Im Vorprogramm sollten CALIBAN, DECAPITATED sowie LEFT TO SUFFER auftreten. Während CALIBAN in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz als Haupt-Support angesetzt waren, hätten in den anderen Regionen DECAPITATED dieselbe Rolle eingenommen. Jetzt wurde die Tournee kurzfristig abgesagt – vorausgegangen war der angekündigte Ausstieg von Bassist Ryan Neff. Kurz darauf gaben auch Gitarrist Ken Susi und Drummer Nick Pierce ihr Ende bei der Band bekannt – beide Musiker gaben moralische Gründe/Konflikte als ausschlaggebend für ihre Entscheidung an.

Nun vermeldet auch Phil Sgrosso seinen Abschied von AS I LAY DYING. Der Gitarrist und Songwriter war seit 2003 Teil des Line-ups und das letzte verbliebene Mitglied nach dem Umbruch im Jahr 2022. Seinen Ausstieg begründet der Musiker ausführlich in einem Statement:

„Hallo zusammen,

Vielen Dank für eure Geduld, während ich mir Zeit genommen habe, meine Gedanken zu sammeln, bevor ich mich zur aktuellen Lage von As I Lay Dying äußere.

Mit den jüngsten Ereignissen, einschließlich des Ausstiegs von Bandmitgliedern und der Absage unserer Europatournee vor der Veröffentlichung eines neuen Albums, ist es klar, dass wir uns in einer schwierigen und ernsten Situation befinden.

Einfach ausgedrückt, haben die jüngsten Ereignisse gezeigt, dass As I Lay Dying nicht länger ein gesundes oder sicheres Umfeld für alle Beteiligten bietet – sei es in kreativer, persönlicher oder beruflicher Hinsicht. Nachdem ich Zeuge einiger besorgniserregender Verhaltensmuster geworden bin, ist mir klar geworden, dass ich nicht länger guten Gewissens weitere Handlungen zulassen kann, die sich negativ auf jeden auswirken könnten, der in diesem Bereich arbeitet.

Aus diesen Gründen liegt es in meinem besten Interesse, mich sowohl kreativ als auch persönlich von As I Lay Dying zu distanzieren.

Ich möchte auch meine volle Unterstützung für Ryan, Ken und Nick zum Ausdruck bringen, die vor kurzem die Entscheidung getroffen haben, sich zurückzuziehen. Ich bin dankbar für unsere Errungenschaften und unsere Freundschaft in den letzten 3 Jahren.

Nach 21 Jahren, die ich dieser Band gewidmet habe, finde ich es bedauerlich, dass ich das, was ich als mein „Lebenswerk“ betrachte, verlassen oder aufgeben muss. Ich denke nicht, dass ich oder andere sich dazu gezwungen sehen sollten, die Band zu verlassen, wie es so viele in der Vergangenheit getan haben.

Nach allem, was wir hier investiert haben, glaube ich, dass unsere Musik mit den richtigen Anpassungen und Umstrukturierungen weiterhin erfolgreich sein und neue Möglichkeiten in einem gesünderen Umfeld erkunden kann.

Im Laufe der Zeit wurde As I Lay Dying durch Dysfunktionalität zurückgehalten, und ich fühle, dass es nicht länger meine Verantwortung ist, diese Last zu tragen.

Vielen Dank an alle, die mich und die Musik von As I Lay Dying unterstützt haben. Ich freue mich darauf, meine Energie und Kreativität in der nahen Zukunft in neue, positivere Unternehmungen zu stecken.

Jacquelyn Dady, known as Nyxx, carves out her space with raw force in Gun. Like the fierce goddess from Greek myth, Nyxx stands crowned in darkness, exuding power, strength, and undeniable femininity through piercing lyrics and bold beats. Her presence is commanding, a storm gathering strength.

“Gun is an anthem of self-reliance, born from the struggle of feeling abandoned—an empowering reminder that you can rise alone,” says the artist. “The message is clear: you don’t need help or hindrance from others; your self-reliance is your greatest strength.”

Starting out as the fiery frontwoman for a high school pop-punk band, Nyxx transformed into a solo powerhouse, debuting with the single Wicked in 2013. It wasn’t until her 2016 EP Nightmare, however, that Nyxx truly defined her sound—producing each track in her Los Angeles apartment, every note a reflection of her own relentless drive.

After a long silence, she returned in 2023, roaring back with the dreamlike hearse and the feral intensity of her collaboration with MORIS BLAK on FERAL. Her much-anticipated EP, releasing this fall under SHVDOW Records, promises to show her evolution, a testament to her resilience and creative ferocity.

Gun, the fierce first single from Nyxx’s upcoming EP salt, strikes with sharp intensity. Produced by David Dutton (genCAB) and mixed by Walter Kazmier, the track pulses with raw emotion, tapping into themes of power and defiance. Nyxx, rooted in gothpop, channels boldness…and autonomy.

Die Modern / Alternative Metal-Band ENEMY INSIDE stellt ihre Single “Fck That Party” – der Track enthält ein Feature von CLAWFINGER-Sänger Zak Tell. Die Nummer folgt auf “Should Have Known Better” und “Sayonara”, das in Form eines Videoclips bei YouTube abrufbar ist. Zuvor veröffentlichte die Gruppe das Musikvideo “What We Used To Be”. Sängerin Natassja Giulia erklärt den Inhalt des Stücks:

“‘What We Used To Be’ erzählt von einer Beziehung, die sich Stück für Stück auflöst: Sei es eine romantischer Art, eine Freundschaft oder die Beziehung zu sich selbst. Es geht darum, festzustellen und zu akzeptieren, dass sich Situationen und Menschen, auch man selbst, verändern und es meist keine andere Lösung gibt als weiterzuziehen.”

Brooklyn-based dream pop quartet The Harrow have returned with a brand new four-track EP, which kicks off with the powerfully mesmerizing single “Cinderglow.” The track begins with an ominous choral passage before launching into a slithering six string bass groove, backed by thunderous 808 beats and buzzing, bass-heavy synthesizers. As the song continues to twist and turn, we are treated to a surreal lyric and heavenly vocals that tap into a similarly ethereal space as Projekt Records and 4AD have over the years.

It’s been three years since The Harrow’s last release, and since then, the band has shifted lineups once more to welcome new vocalist LeeAnn Falciani, who joins guitarist Greg Fasolino (The Naked and the Dead, Bell Hollow) and multi-instrumentalists Frank Deserto (Dream Affair, ChameleonsVox) and John Forester (Boa). The Cinderglow EP features three entrancing new tracks, each one different than the last, and a re-recording of the band’s early single “The Fall,” which is given new life by producer Xavier Paradis (Automelodi). “Vanishing Point” is a dazzling track two, featuring driving bass grooves, treated piano lines, and a catchy, fuzzed-out chorus that you can’t help but shake a tail feather to. “Scarlet Vigil” closes the EP with show-stopping aplomb, chock full of gorgeous vocal melodies, eerie guitar and synth passages, droning horns, and a walloping groove that locks in perfectly and drives the track deep into the ether. The track features guest contributions by Chris Santiago, who also collaborated on Geneva Jacuzzi’s latest LP.

Deserto offers a few words about the release:

“Cinderglow” was a true labor of love. There are passages on this EP that date back about a decade, while others point heavily toward where we’re heading next. All the same, after years of experimenting with different styles, instruments, and collaborators and seeing what sticks, we finally feel ready to re-emerge from our cocoon. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and we’re excited to have found our footing once more.

In a society wary of individuality, the path to self-determination is both freeing and isolating. To walk one’s own way, distinct from society’s numbing cadence, invites suspicion but also profound insight. Rituals become essential—a steady anchor, guiding us inward while external pressures try to erode our essence. Each purposeful act reclaims the quiet needed for true introspection, a rebellion against conformity’s flattening force. Through ritual, we cultivate a sacred space for self-discovery, a place where the mind can explore its own depths. In these symbolic gestures, the self finds its strength, its truths unshaken by collective norms.

Pink Depression brings us into the fold with the haunting Big Good Angel. Hailing from Ventura, California, the band blends sultry synths with a dark wave undercurrent, stirring up something both decadent and intense. Their sound pulses with an ‘80s post-punk beat, gritty yet polished, where John Laux’s guitars ring out with a sharp, edgy clarity, and Ozzy Parrilla’s bassline drives the rhythm with a relentless pulse. At the forefront, Tanner Allen’s deep vocals cut through the mix, brooding and fierce, adding a haunting quality to the overall mood.

Big Good Angel steps into a twilight world where freedom’s thrill melds with the surreal. It traces self-determination in a society that finds individuality unsettling, as moonlit rituals become an escape from the ordinary. Mystery and intrigue entwine, conjuring an otherworldly pull toward the unknown, an allure that defies the bounds of convention. The song calls to mind the likes of Drab Majesty, Cold Cave, Soft Kill and Bootblacks, but with a more dark, sensual, and electric twist. They compose soundscape here that feels both sleek and raw, an invitation to lose yourself in a world where every note, every pulse, pulls you further in. Pink Depression’s music grips tightly, luring listeners into a nocturnal dream that’s both hypnotic and unforgettable.

Frontman Tanner Allen joined forces with director James Spruil, who tackled the project with a focused vision. Filmed in a single day, the video captures the energy of a spontaneous creation. With friends filling the roles and an open spirit on set, they created a world that feels both familiar and deeply strange, each frame pulsing with the excitement of self-discovery and unrestrained expression. It explores the seductive charm of finding one’s own path, in a world intent on shaping us to fit.

Jacquelyn Dady, known as Nyxx, carves out her space with raw force in Gun. Like the fierce goddess from Greek myth, Nyxx stands crowned in darkness, exuding power, strength, and undeniable femininity through piercing lyrics and bold beats. Her presence is commanding, a storm gathering strength.

“Gun is an anthem of self-reliance, born from the struggle of feeling abandoned—an empowering reminder that you can rise alone,” says the artist. “The message is clear: you don’t need help or hindrance from others; your self-reliance is your greatest strength.”

Starting out as the fiery frontwoman for a high school pop-punk band, Nyxx transformed into a solo powerhouse, debuting with the single Wicked in 2013. It wasn’t until her 2016 EP Nightmare, however, that Nyxx truly defined her sound—producing each track in her Los Angeles apartment, every note a reflection of her own relentless drive.

After a long silence, she returned in 2023, roaring back with the dreamlike hearse and the feral intensity of her collaboration with MORIS BLAK on FERAL. Her much-anticipated EP, releasing this fall under SHVDOW Records, promises to show her evolution, a testament to her resilience and creative ferocity.

Gun, the fierce first single from Nyxx’s upcoming EP salt, strikes with sharp intensity. Produced by David Dutton (genCAB) and mixed by Walter Kazmier, the track pulses with raw emotion, tapping into themes of power and defiance. Nyxx, rooted in gothpop, channels boldness…and autonomy.

As she prepares to promote salt, Nyxx sets off on a 13-date tour, beginning November 2nd at QXT’s in Newark, New Jersey. She’ll be joined by Danny Blu, known for his theatricality and intensity, along with newcomers Die Sexual, whose edge promises to stir audiences.

Die Blackened Hardcore-Band GRIEF RITUAL hat mit “Recursion” – mit Rachel Aspe (CAGE FIGHT) – einen Video-Clip ihres kommenden Albums “Collapse” veröffentlicht. Es ist das erste Album der Engländer, die 2022 mit der EP “Spiritual Disease” debütierten.

“Collapse” wurde von Jake Murray bei Just Noise Audio produziert und von Brad Boatright gemastert. Release-Termin ist der 31. Januar 2025 via Church Road Records. Zudem gibt es nach “Bile” mit “Gnaw” einen weiteren Video-Clip.

“Bei “Gnaw” geht es darum, für sich selbst zu kämpfen und sich durch die systematischen Fluten des Scheiterns und der Frustration um uns herum zu erheben, um Unterstützung in unseren Gemeinschaften, durch Verbündete und Freundschaft zu finden, und um LGBTQIA+ Freude am Ausdruck und am eigenen Sein zu finden”, erklärt die Band.

Die Heavy Rock ‘N’ Roll-Band NITROGODS hat mit “Valley Of The Gods” ein neues Album herausgebracht. Es ist das fünfte Album der Deutschen und ist am 25. Oktober 2024 via Massacre Records erschienen. Gemixt und gemastert wurde das Album von Alex Scotti im ManCave Studio, während Sänger und Bassist Claus “Oimel” Larcher für das Cover-Artwork verantwortlich zeichnet. Mit “Left Lane To Memphis” feierte die Gruppe den Release der Scheibe. Auch zu “Broke And Ugly” gibt es vorab ein Video. Außerdem gewährt das Lyric-Video “Kings Of Nothing” einen Höreindruck.

She became successful as NENA and had a lot of successes with the band of the same name. With the English version of the song ‘99 Luftballons’, the band also achieved great success beyond German borders. 40 years later, they continue to spread their spirit. The electro-pop duo ISSA_BLOCH performed as the opening act on this evening. The special aspect of this duo, is that the singer is Larissa Kerner, the daughter of NENA. Larissa performed with her partner Janick Zebrowski for some time now.
