Kyiv’s Old Cat’s Drama conjures an alluring gloom with their latest track, SIAYVO, a nocturnal hymn resonating beneath the dim streetlamps of Eastern Europe’s gothic underbelly. Having etched their mark since 2011 with their EP Pretty Things and the formidable full-length Come And See, this enigmatic trio continues to deepen their cult status. Herold E.’s spectral vocals drift eerily, propelled by Divuar L.’s hypnotic guitar melodies and the innovative textures brought forth by Oleksii Sup, a figure already well-established in the music scene through Quadrille (‘Кадриль’).

SIAYVO pulses gently, yet inexorably, enveloping listeners in a shroud of nocturnal reverie. The band’s post-punk heartbeat resonates through shadowed corridors, while glacial synth lines echo the spectral ambiance reminiscent of Public Image Limited’s stark desolation and the visceral bite of early Dead Kennedys and 45 Grave, as well as touches of the haunting bravado of Siekiera. The song’s duality: warmth mingled with danger, passion intertwined with vulnerability; echoes through the metaphorical use of fire and blood, underlining a potent exploration of love’s consuming nature.

Black Light District’s remix propels SIAYVO into darker, sweat-soaked club territories. It transforms the original’s spectral contemplation into a nocturnal, ritualistic invocation. Beats drive harder, textures become denser, yet the remix retains the emotional resonance, intensifying the track’s mood rather than diluting it.

SALMIAC’s vision is even more urgent, its electricity crackling beneath a tense surface. The remix reassembles the composition into something immediate and tactile, navigating expertly between structured intensity and barely-contained chaos. Distorted synths pierce the veil, creating a visceral experience that verges thrillingly on euphoria.

WORNSPIRE, meanwhile, plunges SIAYVO deeper into the abyss. Its remix saturates the track with distortion-heavy beats and ghostly echoes, amplifying the original’s sense of yearning and isolation. Here, the experience is stark, stripped of gloss, and compellingly authentic…a descent into raw, emotional darkness.

Berlin-based sonic chameleon Mote emerges from the murky depths with his latest single, Vampires, a tantalizing descent into emotional decadence and seductive ruin, released via Duchess Box Records.

Originally from the sun-bleached streets of Nashville, Mote grew up ingesting an eclectic cocktail of influences, from the grimy guitars of Nirvana and Garbage to the eclectic pop swagger of No Doubt and Snoop Dogg, rounded out by lush classical compositions. His music defies tidy categorization, refusing to be constrained by genre expectations. The upcoming EP, aptly titled Vampires, blurs the edges between electronic, rock, and alt music to thrilling effect.

The genesis of this bold shift in direction lies in personal trauma and reinvention. Stricken by a debilitating illness in 2017, Mote confronted his darkest hour:

“In a low moment, I told myself, if I get out of this, I’m going to move to a new city and take Mote to the next level.” His destination? Berlin, a city soaked in innovation and shadowy allure, whose history became an irresistible magnet.

“Berlin has completely changed my life for the better, and now it is home,” Mote explains, having embraced the city’s magnetic pulse despite landing amidst the pandemic’s peak in 2020. Drawing inspiration from Berlin’s spectral musical ghosts, from the feral glam of Bowie and Iggy Pop to Kraftwerk’s futuristic heartbeat, Mote forged a renewed identity.

Vampires channels a darkly cinematic atmosphere, fueled by snarling guitars and rhythmically hypnotic seduction, effortlessly conjuring the spirit of 90s alt-rock titans like Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage and Nine Inch Nails, with echoes of Tears For Fears adding depth. It’s a passionate exploration of love’s destructive allure, radiating equal parts charm and menace. As Mote himself frames it, “The song plays with the idea of romance as a beautiful kind of mutual destruction…playful, powerful, and a little dangerous.”

In the accompanying self-directed video, shady figures languidly sip from crystal goblets amidst a twilight garden, evoking the decadent eroticism of Tony Scott’s The Hunger. Mysterious, seductive, and elegantly unsettling, the visuals capture perfectly the intoxicating danger at the heart of Vampires. This is Mote at his most alluring, his artistry resonating with those who crave music that dances gracefully on the knife’s edge.

Depeche Mode’s seminal 1981 track Photographic resurfaces, now draped in new electronic finery in a new cover by Greek producer Dimitris Papaspyropoulos, known to many as Last Chance. Originally conceived by Vince Clarke for the iconic Some Bizzare Album, this synth-pop classic defined the early allure of Depeche Mode: bright synth bursts, urgent rhythms, and a buoyant sense of discovery. Re-recorded for the group’s foundational LP, Speak & Spell, the song became a staple of their youthful, electrifying performances, embedding itself deeply into the DNA of electronic music.

In Papaspyropoulos’ fresh interpretation, Photographic is reborn through Alexandros Raptis’ (Decode) vocal treatment, wrapped snugly in layers of lush atmospherics and sleek modern textures. The production accentuates the original’s pulsation, underscoring Clarke’s knack for sharp melody lines with a nuanced contemporary polish. Papaspyropoulos’ version is both reverential and bold, gently illuminating overlooked emotional corners of the track. Raptis brings warmth and subtle vulnerability, shifting the mood into new territory while keeping the spirit intact.

This reimagined version gracefully bridges decades, inviting younger ears into the luminous, synthetic heartbeat of early ’80s electronica without losing the authenticity that drew original devotees. Rather than merely revisiting nostalgia, Papaspyropoulos and Raptis rekindle the flame of Photographic, presenting it as a fresh experience, vital and relevant once more, compellingly proving that great electronic music resonates well beyond its era.

Die finnischen Blacker ONDFØDT haben mich 2023 mit ihrem vierten Album „Det Österbottniska Mörkret“ völlig kalt erwischt aber eben auch genauso überzeugt. Immer wenn ich gefragt wurde, warum ich grad diese Scheibe jetzt so gut finde, habe ich geantwortet, dass die Band zwar nichts großartig Besonderes macht, das aber eben sehr gut.
Und so ist es auf der neuen Scheibe auch geblieben. Nichts wird neu erfunden, keine Experimente, nicht Absonderbares. Einfach nur der gute alte Black Metal, der dich packt und überzeugt.
Wir steigen mit Akustikgitarren zu Regenklängen in die Scheibe ein. Wer danach Romantik oder Heititei erwartet, ist aber schief gewickelt. Auf der Nebelbank (Übersetzung des Albumtitels, passt übrigens als Album- und Songtitel vom Instrumentalintro welches ich grad beschrieben habe) gibt es harten aber melodisch teils melancholischen Black Metal. Oft wird er schnell vorgebracht. Die Mannen können aber überwiegend im Midtempo und zum Beispiel in der Mitte von „Svartsyn“ sogar im langsamen, getragenen, gar keyboardunterstützen Metier voll überzeugen.
In ihrer, nennen wir es mal Einfachheit, bauen sie so viel Tiefe und Gefühl ein, dass es nicht mehr braucht.
„Grymhejtins Ansikt“ folgt darauf und hat einen fast chaotischen Anfang, den ich erst beim zweiten Durchgang so richtig durchhört habe. Langweilig wird es auf Album Nummer fünf also nicht. Die Band ist weder aufdringlich, noch nimmt sie sich zurück. Auch groovige Parts werden songdienlich untergebracht und so entsteht eine angenehme Abwechslung.
Der Sound ist gut gewählt. Er ist mächtig, lässt aber Raum für die einzelnen Instrumente und ist nicht zu kalt geraten. Glückwunsch an die Herren, die Scheibe packt mich so wie ihr Vorgänger. Und ich freue mich Drummer Tommi mit Outlaw auf dem Party.San live sehen zu können. (hendrik)

„Das Schreiben dieses Songs fühlte sich an wie die Krönung all dessen, was wir in der Vergangenheit getan haben, aber auf die nächste Ebene gebracht; eine weiterentwickelte Version dessen, was Lorna Shore wirklich ist. Ich stellte mir eine post-apokalyptische Welt in der (hoffentlich fernen) Zukunft vor. Eine Welt, in der wir die Saat unserer eigenen Zerstörung gesät haben.

Die Vorstellung, dass wir uns etwas Besseres gewünscht haben, dass wir gehofft haben, etwas zu tun, was uns in dieser sterbenden Welt retten würde, nur um am Ende ihre unausweichliche Zerstörung zu beschleunigen. Das wirft die Frage auf: Was ist richtig? Wissen wir überhaupt, was wir da tun? Was haben wir getan, um zu versuchen, tatsächlich etwas zu ändern? Bewässern wir die Erde oder füttern wir nur ein ständig wachsendes Feuer?“

The Names – Swimming With Brian Jones EP

The legendary Belgian post-punk and new wave pioneers THE NAMES return with a new single (and video clip) taken from their new album “Encore!”.
 
There are songs that shimmer on the surface, and then there are those that dive – deep, slow, inevitable.
 
“Swimming With Brian Jones” is one of those songs. Not just a track, but a vision. A metaphor soaked in saltwater and memory. A descent through time where guitars ripple like waves and words carry the weight of everything we’ll never say.
 
Descending a valley, the idea surfaced – sudden, luminous: to swim with Brian Jones. Not the icon, not the myth, but the man – blond, silent, floating just beneath the waterline since July 3, 1969. A final companion in the pool of endings. A quiet metaphor for that one truth we all share, dressed in shimmering echoes from THE NAMES’ early years, when another song called “Swimming” told of youth, hope, and open water.
 

 
With “Swimming With Brian Jones”, THE NAMES invite us for one last plunge. A slow-motion ballet in the undertow, where arpeggios clash like light on water, rhythms surge like tides, and – somewhere unexpected – a lone bagpipe appears, drifting from nowhere, calling from the edge of consciousness. What melody did Brian hear as he slipped beneath? Perhaps this one.
 
The EP unfolds like a submerged dream: the original album version, precise and poignant, full of undercurrents and unfinished thoughts; an exclusive remix by Gilles Robert, awash in dreamy synths and gentle distortion, recasting the song as a fragile trip-pop hallucination; a live version, recorded in Brussels on November 9, 2024 – a moment suspended in time, raw and immediate… and to top it all, a black & white video, filmed under the April sun on a Belgian beach, where sea and sky blur and memories are swallowed by the tide.

Uns hat brennend interessiert, wie das Party.San dieses Jahr wird und deswegen haben wir in die KI-Glaskugel geschaut und uns einen FestivalNACHbericht für ein kommendes Festival schreiben lassen.
Wir haben relativ genaue Angaben gemacht, außer das wir (bis auf den Scherz mit dem unangekündigten Special-Gig) keine Bandnamen genannt haben.

Jens aus Bochum wird auf jeden Fall in fast 6 Wochen begeistert sein.
Nur Lea aus Kassel wird sich anscheinend 3 Tage lang unglaublich betrinken.
Da kann man schonmal „zeitliche“ Probleme der Erinnerung haben.

Wir hoffen ihr werdet auch so viel Spaß beim Lesen haben.

Festivalrückblick: Party.San Metal Open Air 2025Text & Fotos: [Dein Name]

Ein weiteres Jahr, ein weiteres Inferno in Thüringen: Das Party.San Metal Open Air 2025 hat seine Tore geschlossen und hinterlässt erneut eine Schneise der Verwüstung – musikalisch, emotional und alkoholtechnisch. Wer dachte, nach 2024 könne das Line-up kaum noch eins draufsetzen, wurde 2025 eines Besseren belehrt. Neben einem gewohnt brutalen Billing überraschte das Festival mit einem ebenso absurden wie legendären Secret Gig. Doch der Reihe nach.

Wetter: Hitzeschlacht mit Schlammzugabe
Die Wetteraussichten ließen im Vorfeld bereits ahnen: Es würde heiß. Und so knallte die Sonne ab Mittwoch gnadenlos auf das Infield. Temperaturen bis zu 34 Grad forderten selbst den sonnengebräunten Oldschool-Deather heraus. In der Nacht zu Samstag dann der Wetterumschwung: ein kurzer, aber heftiger Wolkenbruch verwandelte die Campgrounds in schlammige Arenen – was der Stimmung aber keinen Abbruch tat. Im Gegenteil: Matsch war schon immer Teil des Party.San-DNA.

Line-Up & Bands: Von Death bis… Flippers?
Donnerstag – Auftakt mit Wucht

Der Eröffnungstag bot direkt Vollgas: Sijjin überzeugten mit staubtrockenem Proto-Death, während Krisiun einmal mehr unter Beweis stellten, dass brasilianischer Death Metal keinen Kompromiss kennt. Desaster zündeten ein Black-Thrash-Feuerwerk, das die Menge auf Betriebstemperatur brachte – pure Energie, pure Oldschool.

Dying Fetus, als Headliner des Donnerstags, ließen keine Fragen offen: Tight, brutal, technisch – Circle Pits und Crowdsurfer ohne Pause. Die Marylander sind mittlerweile Stammgäste in Thüringen, und das merkt man – sie liefern jedes Mal ab.

Freitag – Höhepunkt auf Höhepunkt

Panzerfaust aus Kanada setzten den Tag mit episch-düsterem Black Metal in Gang – atmosphärisch und zermalmend. Benighted brachten das Gegenteil: Highspeed-Grind mit absurdem Spaßfaktor. Spätestens bei „Let The Blood Spill Between My Broken Teeth“ verwandelte sich das Infield in einen Pit aus Chaos und Lachern.

Primordial sorgten für Gänsehaut – Sänger Alan Averill beschwor mit irischem Pathos und epischem Sound eine fast spirituelle Stimmung. Danach Asphyx: holländischer Death-Dampfwalzen-Sound, wie er sein muss. Kein Firlefanz, keine Kompromisse.

Marduk brachten schließlich die Dunkelheit – schnelle, aggressive Sets ohne Verschnaufpause. Trotz aller Diskussionen um ihre Vergangenheit: musikalisch gnadenlos. Der Headliner des Abends, Emperor, ließ dann alle Dämme brechen: Die norwegischen Black-Metal-Götter lieferten ein Set voller Klassiker – „I Am the Black Wizards“ schallte über das Gelände wie ein Mantra aus Eis.

Samstag – Überraschung und Eskalation

Den Anfang machten Sanguisugabogg – unheilige Mischung aus Slam, Groove und Humor. Danach folgten Hellripper, die NWOBHM-infizierten Black/Speed Metal in Hochgeschwindigkeit präsentierten – Venom und Motörhead lassen grüßen.

Immolation stampften den Nachmittag in Grund und Boden. Die Death-Metal-Veteranen bewiesen erneut ihre unerschütterliche Klasse. Watain zelebrierten ihr Ritual mit Blut, Feuer und einem Set, das gleichermaßen verstörte wie faszinierte.

Bolt Thrower Tribute mit Mitgliedern von Memoriam und Benediction brachte Nostalgie und pure Zerstörung – ein emotionaler Höhepunkt für viele Besucher.

Doch dann: Überraschungsgig des Todes – niemand Geringeres als Die Flippers betraten die Bühne. Mit dabei: Heino, im Duett bei „Die rote Sonne von Barbados“. Zuerst ungläubiges Staunen, dann absolute Eskalation. Circle Pit zu Schlager, Crowdsurfer in Hawaiihemd, Bierduschen zum Walzertakt. Die Flippers, unterstützt von einer Thrash-Band im Hintergrund (!), spielten ein Set aus Klassikern, Metal-Remixen und einer Coverversion von „Raining Blood“, die Heino grölte. Nicht ganz ernst, aber absolut kultig.

Den Abschluss bildeten Triptykon, die ein massives, düsteres Set inklusive „Celtic Frost“-Material hinlegten – eine schwere, ernste Abrundung für ein ansonsten vollkommen eskaliertes Festival.

Gelände, Preise & Atmosphäre
Der Merchandise-Markt war wieder gut bestückt. Neben den üblichen Labelständen (Season of Mist, FDA Records, Ván Records etc.) stachen dieses Jahr besonders die DIY-Stände mit Patchraritäten und Bootleg-Tapes heraus. Festivalmerch: schnell ausverkauft, aber fair bepreist – Shirts für 25 €, Hoodies für 45 €.

Getränkepreise blieben stabil: 0,4 l Bier für 4,50 €, Wasser 3 €, Longdrinks 7 €. Die Auswahl war umfangreich, von der „Schlachter-Bar“ bis zur „Black Death Lounge“. Besonders beliebt: das diesjährige Festivalbier, ein dunkles Bockbier mit 7,2 %, gebraut von einer lokalen Brauerei – „Höllentrunk“.

Das Party.San 2025 war eine Mischung aus Extremmusik, totalem Irrsinn und perfekter Festivalorganisation. Wer sich auf drei Tage Blastbeats, Matsch, Bier und Überraschungen einstellen kann, findet hier sein musikalisches Zuhause. Der Flippers-Gig dürfte in die Party.San-Geschichte eingehen – und beweist einmal mehr: Metal kennt keine Grenzen. Und das ist auch gut so.

Johnny Marr surprised fans at the inaugural Forever Now Festival on Sunday, June 22, when he reunited onstage with longtime foil Matt Johnson during The The’s evening set, marking the pair’s first performance together since the band’s 1990 Mind Bomb tour.

Billed as the U.K.’s answer to Southern California’s Cruel World, Forever Now assembled an impressive lineup of post-punk stalwarts—including Public Image Ltd, The Chameleons, The Damned, Happy Mondays, and dozens more—spread across two stages at Milton Keynes’ National Bowl, where Johnny Marr had earlier delivered his own electrifying solo set. Marr treated the festival audience to classics spanning his storied career, from Smiths standards like “Panic,” “This Charming Man,” “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want,” and “How Soon Is Now?” to Electronic’s “Getting Away With It,” solo favorites “Armatopia,” “Generate! Generate!,” “Spirit Power and Soul,” “Easy Money,” and a spirited cover of Iggy Pop’s “The Passenger.”

Later in the evening, Johnson took a moment to thank the crowd, noting warmly:

“Lovely to be here, and thank you for coming. This is my first ever time in Milton Keynes, believe it or not, and lovely to see so many friendly, youthful faces.” Then, with genuine delight, he announced a special surprise, introducing Johnny Marr as “a dear old friend,” adding, “Johnny and I have known each other since we were teenagers. And who thought in 2025 we’d be in Milton Keynes with a lovely bunch like you?”

As Marr joined him onstage to thunderous applause, the duo launched into two beloved Dusk-era tracks: “The Beat(en) Generation” and “Dogs of Lust,” both highlighted by Marr’s signature chiming guitar lines first recorded back in 1993.

This marked the first time Johnson and Marr have shared a stage in nearly three-and-a-half decades. Since their last tour together, Marr collaborated with acts such as Pet Shop Boys, Modest Mouse, and, most recently, Pearl Jam, while Johnson reactivated The The’s live presence in 2018 after a lengthy hiatus.

Johnson and his bandmates concluded their acclaimed 75-minute set with “Slow Emotion Replay,” “This Is the Day,” and an extended “Uncertain Smile”—widely considered the emotional highlight of the festival.

Die Power / Melodic Death Metal-Band CELESTIAL WIZARD hat mit „She Is The Blade“ einen zweiten Track ihres kommenden Albums „Regenesis“ veröffentlicht. Es ist nach „A Sinister Awakening“ (2018) und „Winds of the Cosmos“ (2022) das dritte Album der US-Amerikaner aus Denver und wird am 11. Juli 2025 via Scarlet Records erscheinen. Vorab gibt es mit „Pale Horse“ einen Video-Clip.

„Der Song beginnt mit einem Gesetzlosen, der durch die Wüste reitet und vor der Gestalt des Todes flieht, die ihn verfolgt. Im weiteren Verlauf des Liedes wird der Geächtete gezwungen, sich dem Tod und seiner eigenen Sterblichkeit zu stellen. Er geht für immer verändert daraus hervor, und der Kreislauf der Wiedergeburt setzt sich fort. Der Track deutet das Konzept von Ende und Anfang an, das sich durch das gesamte Album zieht“, erklärt die Band.

„Regenesis“ wurde erneut von Nick Nodurft bei Rusty Sun Audio produziert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt aus der Feder von Dan Goldsworthy.

Die Modern Melodic / Symphonic Metal-Band VIIMEINEN OODI VAPAUDELLE hat mit „Ballade of the Arctic Traveller“ eine neue Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

„Textlich ist der Song eine introspektive Odyssee durch eine gefrorene Traumlandschaft – wo die Zeit zerbricht, die Sterne zerfallen und eine Seele Pfade beschreitet, die in uraltes Eis gemeißelt sind. Der emotionale Bogen des Tracks spiegelt die Reise einer einsamen Figur wider, die durch Isolation, Ewigkeit und Schicksal navigiert“, sagt die Band.

Im Vorjahr hat die Band mit „Rakkauden alttari“ eine weitere Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Es war der erste Release der 2023 gegründeten Band aus Finnland. Der Song zeigt die scheinbar unüberwindbaren Herausforderungen einer Hassliebe zwischen zwei Menschen auf. Es ist nach drei EPs das erste Album der Engländer aus London und wird am 27. Juni 2025 erscheinen. Produziert wurde das Album von Marvin Menz im Tide Studio.

Mit „Requiem“ wird am 27. Juni 2025 via The Larvarium das neue Album des Noise Rock / Avantgarde Doom-Projekts ALL MEN UNTO ME erscheinen. Es ist nach „In Chemical Transit“ (2023) das zweite Album der von Sänger Rylan Gleave geleiteten Band. Maßgeblichen Anteil am Entstehen hatte auch Scott McLean (FALLOCH, ASHENSPIRE).

„Ein großer Teil des Albums dreht sich um die patriarchalische Machtdynamik innerhalb der Kirche und wie sich diese auf andere Kontexte übertragen hat. Ich habe auf keinen Fall ein antichristliches Album gemacht, ich denke, vieles davon handelt von Vergebung und Mitgefühl für die Menschen, die einem wichtig sind, und für sich selbst. Manchmal spricht der Erzähler zu Gott, manchmal zu Strukturen, manchmal zu niemandem“, erklärt Rylan Gleave.

Die Classic Rock-Band NIGHTHAWK hat nach dem Video-Clip zu „Home Tonight“ und dem Video-Clip zu „Angel Of Mine“ mit dem Video-Clip zu „Can’t Say Goodbye“ eine dritte Single ihres kommenden Albums „Six Three O“ veröffentlicht. Es ist das vierte Album der Supergroup rund um Gitarrist Robert Majd (CAPTAIN BLACK BEARD, METALITE) und Sänger Björn Strid (SOILWORK, THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA).

„Six Three O“ wurde von Sverker Widgren (DIABOLICAL) produziert und wird am 1. August 2025 via Mighty Music erscheinen.

Die Melodic Black Metal-Band OSKOREIEN hat mit „Hollow Fangs“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist nach „Oskoreien“ (2011) und „All Too Human“ (2016) das dritte Album des von Jay Valena geführten Projekts.

„Hollow Fangs“ wurde von Jack Shirley gemastert und wird am 18. Juli 2025 erscheinen. Vorab gibt es den Opener „Prismatic Reason“ zu hören.

„Der Song ist eine Meditation über das zweischneidige Schwert des menschlichen Bewusstseins. Wie die Vernunft erhellen oder verzerren, erschaffen oder zerstören kann. Der Song beschwört die Qualen der Sinnsuche inmitten von Chaos und Verrat herauf“, sagt Jay Valena.

AESTHETIC PERFECTION were founded by the American musician Daniel Graves in Hollywood, Los Angeles in the millennium year 2000. When their debut album “Close to Human” hit the electronic scene, it became an immediate success and laid the foundation for an exceptional career. 

Sadly, the pitfalls of modern technology meant that the original files of “Close to Human” got lost in an apocalyptic hardware failure in 2006. Obviously, this loss remained a thorn in the side of the mastermind of AESTHETIC PERFECTION. In 2024, Daniel Graves decided it was time to recreate the album and gathered all the original hardware and samples to painstakingly rebuild the debut track by track.

Although the result closely resembles the debut, it was never a possibility and probably not even a good idea to just create a clone. Years of musical experience also factored in and therefore Graves dubbed the result “Closer to Human” to mark both the continuity as well as the difference in the title.

Following the debut, “AESTHETIC PERFECTION” went on to release eight acclaimed studio albums and also started to perform live, sharing stages with other scene favourites such as COVENANT, COMBICHRIST, and MESH to name but a few. Soon headliner shows followed that turned into sold out events in 2016.

The music of AESTHETIC PERFECTION has been described as aggrotech and future pop among other stylistic designations, while Daniel Graves started using the term industrial pop to describe his music in 2017.

In 2020, AESTHETIC PERFECTION supported the band of RAMMSTEIN frontman Til Lindemann, which was a massive success and will therefore be repeated by LINDEMANN in the autumn of 2025.

Before that happens, it is time to revisit the earliest days of AESTHETIC PERFECTION both live on stage in Europe and the USA and with the reconstructed debut album “Closer to Human” in the summer of 2025.

With roots dating back to the early days of the industrial rock scene, the US band 16Volt also crossed over into related genres as soon as group founder Eric Powell signed his first record deal in 1991 while still in his teens.

Brand new single ‘White Noise’ is taken from a long-awaited album by the band entitled ‘More Of Less’. Scheduled for release on 25th July, it is their first full-length record since 2017, when Powell put 16Volt on a hiatus that lasted seven years.

“‘White Noise’ is a song about feeling unheard, when your voice gets drowned out and it seems like you can’t get a word in or no-one is listening to you,” he explains. “To others, you become just white noise, that static sound of nothingness.”

The single follows just two weeks after a first ever (and already sold out) vinyl pressing of ‘Wisdom’, the group’s 1993 debut album. Powell’s reactivation of 16Volt in 2024 had been marked with the release of ‘Negative On Arrivals’, which combined songs from the group’s previous two records in 2016 and 2017.

BIOGRAPHY

A relentless early ’90s schedule for 16Volt saw Powell work alongside co-producers David Ogilvie (Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy), Keith ‘Fluffy’ Auerbach (Ministry) and Jeff ‘Critter’ Newell (Ministry, Angels & Airwaves, blink-182) for the recording of ‘Wisdom’ (1993), ‘Skin’ (1994) and ‘LetDownCrush’ (1996). With these albums all earning critical praise and pole positions on the US Alternative Chart, the band built a live following as they toured extensively around North America, subsequently signing to Mercury Records.

Producer Bill Kennedy (Nine Inch Nails, Megadeth, Sepultura, Mötley Crüe) was hired to help make ‘SuperCoolNothing’ (1998), which featured film composer Joseph Bishara (Insidious, The Conjuring, Marylin Manson, Danzig), Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails), Mike Peoples (Skrew) and Kraig Tyler (Crazytown), but Powell found himself in the middle of a legal battle prior to album release when Seagram took over the label and cut all its funding. In a genius move, Powell bought back the rights and made a deal with Sony to feature the album in the Playstation game ‘Primal’.

The mid-’00s saw 16Volt sign to Metropolis Records and release the albums ‘FullBlackHabit’ (2007), ‘American Porn Songs’ (2009) and ‘Beating Dead Horses’ (2012) featuring guests Paul Raven (Ministry, Killing Joke, Prong), Steve White (KMFDM) and mix engineer Shaun Thingvold (Strapping Young Lad, Lamb of God).

Meanwhile, the group’s headline tours were supplemented by stints with the likes of Korn, Filter, Fear Factory, Prong, Orgy, Stabbing Westward, Revolting Cocks, Front Line Assembly, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult and Front 242.

2016 saw the release of ‘The Negative Space’, produced by Marc Jordan (Velvet Revolver, The Cult, Hyro Da Hero, Die Antwoord), with the EP ‘Dead On Arrivals’ following a year later.
