Die Psychedelic Stoner Rock-Band STONED JESUS hat mit dem Video-Clip zu „Shadowland“ eine erste Single ihres kommenden Albums „Songs to Sun“ veröffentlicht.

„In diesem Song geht es darum, inmitten der Instabilität der letzten Jahre einen festen Boden unter den Füßen zu finden“, sagt Frontmann Igor Sydorenko.

Das Album ist der erste Teil einer Trilogie, die die verschiedenen Phasen von der Band abdecken wird. Weitere Alben sind das düstere „Songs to Moon“ und das proggigere „Songs to Earth“.

Mark E. Smith was never one for subtlety. Stepping back into this whirlwind, Beggars Arkive is bringing back The Fall’s 1989 half-studio, half-live album, Seminal Live, out September 5th. Newly remastered by the deft hands of Kevin Vanbergen, the reissue lands digitally and in limited yellow vinyl glory. With refreshed artwork, insightful new sleeve notes, and unseen bonus content, this release celebrates one of the most cherished chapters in the sprawling Fall saga.

The lineup captured here, featuring the dynamic chemistry of Brix Smith, Craig Scanlon, Steve Hanley, Simon Wolstencroft, Marcia Schofield, and the unmistakable Smith himself, still ignites memories of a legendary era. Originally issued by Beggars Banquet in June 1989, Seminal Live punctuated the prolific 1984-1989 run that delivered iconic records such as The Wonderful and Frightening World Of, This Nation’s Saving Grace, Bend Sinister, The Frenz Experiment, and I Am Kurious Oranj.

Seminal Live occupies unique territory within The Fall’s sprawling discography. The first half plunges into uncharted studio territory, offering fresh tracks like the sardonic punch of “Dead Beat Descendant” and the group’s irreverent twist on Lonnie Irving’s classic “Pinball Machine,” a nod to Smith’s enduring fascination with country music filtered through his acerbic lens.

Flip to the second side and you’re pulled into the raw electricity of The Fall onstage: these recordings are stitched together from explosive performances spanning Vienna to Manchester circa 1988. Penelope Farmer’s quietly strange 1969 children’s classic, Charlotte Sometimes, finds shy newcomer Charlotte Makepeace shuffling uneasily between eras, slipping seamlessly into the life of Clare, a girl residing decades before. Their whispered diary exchanges bridge the uncanny divide, tossing each other a lifeline between identities, blurring gently into oblivion.

Naturally, Robert Smith couldn’t resist the tale’s phantasmagoric charm, borrowing entire haunting phrases for The Cure’s 1981 single Charlotte Sometimes; its B-side, Splintered in Her Head, equally plundered from Farmer’s dreamlike prose.

Enter Modele, Toronto’s latest custodians of glacial glamour, gracefully resurrecting Smith’s midnight reverie. This fresh retelling is no dusty tribute; instead, it sparkles with crisp, contemporary menace, honouring the shadowplay of both the novel and its musical antecedent. Chris Huggett and Nathan Wiltshire carve out a stylish path through post-punk’s familiar gloom, their synths winking slyly over basslines thicker than winter smoke.

The duo wisely avoid an outright mimicry, opting instead for subtle homage, evoking the stately chill of The Church, the rhythmic panache of Simple Minds, and the electronic elegance of Depeche Mode, but with a quieter, more understated flair. It’s mood music with a sardonic grin, darkness made danceable, decadence delivered without indulgence.

Modele’s treatment of the beloved Charlotte Sometimes offers a shimmer of nostalgia without succumbing to mere sentimentality. This spectral slow-dance proves definitively that even the frostiest of nights can have a beat worth moving to…provided you’re dressed in your finest existential ennui!

Jokes for Angels unfurls like a secret diary from a raconteur too sharp to fall into cliché. Brian Michael Henry’s sardonic, urbane third album dances gleefully on the edge of sincerity and satire. Henry, a deft observer cloaked in smoke and irony, surveys a twilight New York, all neon-drenched Bowery sleaze and artful self-awareness. The record, steeped in noir humour and wry storytelling, slices elegantly through despair, leaving a grin rather than a grimace.

Family Style bursts out with jittery glee, Henry throwing vocal punches that land somewhere between a Bowie howl and Byrne twitch. The scenario of Leatherface’s dinner date morphs bizarrely, hilariously, terrifyingly into a song buzzing with frenetic guitar sparks courtesy of Colin Summers, whose angular riffs scorch and soothe.

A dark chuckle echoes through Magic Hands! with post-punk energy, all urgent rhythm and sly falsetto echoes. Henry’s deep voice struts across basslines, playfully subversive, presenting erotic escapades wrapped in dance-floor-ready beats. Magic Hands! lingers in the air like perfume on a stranger’s skin, a hushed and smoldering tribute to the masseur who knew the body’s language better than words ever could. The song broods, it beckons, it breathes in the quiet space between indulgence and need, tracing the blurred border where pleasure becomes reverence.  Then the album dips into gloomier waters with Octavia. Summers’ fretwork cuts aggressively melodic arcs around Henry’s ghostly baritone, narrating Octavia Hatcher’s chilling fate. A pulse-quickening gothic waltz unfolds, evoking sheer panic and beauty simultaneously.

In Transformers, tragedy is distilled into dark-wave elegance. Summers unleashes a passionate guitar solo, illuminating Henry’s detached vocal delivery…a powerful tribute to a lost friend who succumbed to addiction. The album’s namesake track spins deliriously into chaos, eulogizing departed comedians with wild abandon, a magnetic whirl reminiscent of the Magnetic Fields at their whimsical, nihilistic best.

I Don’t Really Love You When You Cry serves candy-coated cynicism à la Morrissey, a jangly pop tune bright enough to veil its biting critique. Henry tosses aside his electronic playbook for a spotlight on his robust bass-baritone, serving up a love song that’s heavy on the irony and light on the sap:  a tongue-in-cheek serenade. Channeling an anti-hero in love, Henry draws a line at tear-wiping, offering up laughs with a side of ‘tough love.’ It’s a peppy dive into ’60s pop.

Good Dad, a song about knowing your lover would absolutely prove to be a deadbeat father, ramps up the surf-rock theatrics; Henry’s baritone gliding atop Paul Hinkes’ frenetic riffs, sharp and irreverent. Valentine’s Day simmers gently with ambient club noise; Summers’ guitar lines and Jake Goodman’s mellow saxophone add layers of cool Lou Reed’s Coney Island Baby charm. Henry’s bad-boyfriend pleas feel sincerely insincere, leaving listeners simultaneously amused and skeptical. “The song is a “bad boyfriend’s” appeal to his lover to stay, despite evidence that he or she should not,” Henry says.

The mature, band-driven Now You’re On Your Own drifts effortlessly into country-rock territory, a collaborative gem reminiscent of Warren Zevon’s nuanced storytelling. Sam C. Jones and Michael Reilly’s warm rhythms lend authenticity, while Henry’s piano provides an unexpectedly radiant flourish. Closing track Waiting (Post-Punk Remix) revisits obsession through a thrilling new lens. Colin Summers drives the track forward with rhythmic propulsion and atmospheric guitar, offering a hopeful sheen to the protagonist’s desperate quest for attention. It’s a jubilant finale, darkly optimistic.

With Jokes for Angels, Brian Michael Henry delivers a delicious paradox: sharp observations wrapped around heartfelt truths, laughter resonating within the darkness. (Oscar Wilde who?) Henry conjures genuine art from city shadows…the kind of rare storyweaver that seasoned New Yorkers nostalgically yearn for; penning elegant numbers that prove there’s still a gritty realm below 14th Street.

Religion of Heartbreak’s music is the art of controlled chaos: an electric communion of desire and detachment. We have grown complicit, even eager, architects of our own subjugation, crafting the towering conglomerates whose shadows now stifle us. Cybertrucks glide silently down our boulevards like chromium-plated leviathans, a reflection of our surrender to spectacle. The quaint shame of ‘selling out’ has evaporated entirely; ambition is naked, virtue commodified. Wendy’s, once merely a dispensary of hamburgers, now seeks intimacy, friendship…a smiling corporate deity beckoning from the neon temple. How effortlessly we accept this insidious charm, trading critical thought for convenience, our skeptical instincts dulled by the soothing narcotic of advertising’s newfound benevolence. What strange delights comfort our captivity.

Automatic’s Mercury slips onto the scene with the sly ease of a cinematic antihero, blending synth swagger and rhythmic buoyancy into a track built for wry smiles and bobbing heads. Izzy Glaudini, Halle Saxon, and Lola Dompé know well the seductive power of subtlety, embedding their critique of societal malaise within grooves that float effortlessly through your bloodstream.

Mercury is born from the back alleys of trip-hop, nodding knowingly toward the classic breaks of Stones Throw’s golden era, yet steering clear of nostalgia. Its breakbeat backbone provides a hypnotic pulse, punctuated by ethereal synth flourishes and whispered warnings. The song whispers sweetly but carries a weighty warning against surrendering to nihilism, coaxing listeners to remain hopeful amid chaos.  The lyrics strike a balance between dreamy existentialism and a subtle push toward awakening. They explore isolation and urban decay with poetic flair, weaving emotional detachment and quiet hopefulness into verses that gently urge us to face reality, reconnect with the natural world, and resist the pull of numbing passivity.

“Despite the horrible shit constantly happening, life can still be mysterious and beautiful,” says Glaudini. “I wanted to lean into a sense of dreaminess, and to have the verses feel like a dark lullaby.”

The video for Mercury captures this spirit perfectly, presenting the trio sipping an ambiguous emerald concoction. Whether it’s the mystical Green Faerie of absinthe or some other iridescent drink of libation, the symbolism is clear: either way, they’re inviting you to stop doomscrolling, remove a few things from the TikTok shop, take a sip…and join their conspiratorial critique of our troubled times.

This single solidifies Automatic’s ability to pair incisive observation with addictive rhythms. They guide listeners toward self-reflection, masked cleverly behind hypnotic beats and winking irreverence. Mercury is a call to awaken, served stylishly with a side of sardonic charm.

Automatic’s approach to their forthcoming album, Is It Now?, due out via Stones Throw on September 26, is playfully cynical; a dark joke delivered with an infectious grin. Automatic urges listeners to confront society’s oppressive structures. Building momentum since their last record, 2022’s Excess, the band has shared stages with the likes of Tame Impala, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Marías, and IDLES. Continuing this momentum, Automatic hits the road again this fall, co-headlining alongside Sextile (see tour dates below).

Beneath the perky minimalist grooves and charming pop melodies lies a cleverly concealed commentary on modern life. While Is It Now? doesn’t claim to provide all the answers, it certainly encourages listeners to ask sharper questions…or at the very least, inspires them to dance their way toward enlightenment.

HATEBREED kehren mit neuer Musik zurück: „Make The Demons Obey“ folgt auf das Studioalbum „Weight Of The False Self“ (2020) und steht ab sofort als Lyric-Video bei YouTube zur Verfügung.

Beim „Back To The Beginning“-Konzert in Birmingham standen am 5. Juli 2025  BLACK SABBATH nach über 20 Jahren wieder in der Besetzung Bill Ward, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler und Tony Iommi auf der Bühne, gleichzeitig war das Konzert OZZY OSBOURNEs Abschied von der Bühne – nicht nur von der Konzertbühne, der Sänger ist am 22. Juli 2025 verstorben.

Nun soll Anfang 2026  ein Mitschnitt des Konzerts ins Kino kommen,  Mercury Studios arbeiten an einer Kinofassung mit dem Titel ‘Back To The Beginning: Ozzy’s Final Bow’. Der Film soll laut Produktionsfirma „die rohe Kraft und das emotionale Gewicht von Ozzys letzter Verbeugung in seiner Heimatstadt Birmingham einfangen. Gezeigt wird das als 100 Minuten umfassendes Kinoerlebnis, das ein Schlaglicht auf die Musik von Ozzy Osbourne und Black Sabbath wirft.“

Auf dem Billing standen neben BLACK SABBATH und OZZY auch Bands wie METALLICA, SLAYER, PANTERA, GOJIRA, HALESTORM, ALICE IN CHAINS, LAMB OF GOD, ANTHRAX und MASTODON. Mit dabei waren auch Billy Corgan (THE SMASHING PUMPKINS), David Draiman (DISTURBED), Duff McKagan & Slash (GUNS N’ ROSES), Frank Bello (ANTHRAX), Fred Durst (LIMP BIZKIt), Jake E. Lee, Jonathan Davis (KORN), K.K. Die Synth Rock-Band ZETRA veröffentlicht am 22. August 2025 eine neue Digital-EP: „Believe“ erscheint via Nuclear Blast und enthält fünf Tracks, darunter die Single „The Spider„, die auf allen gängigen Streaming-Plattformen verfügbar ist.

Außerdem präsentierte man im Juni die neue Single „So“ mit einem Musikvideo bei YouTube. Es handelt sich dabei um den ersten Track seit dem selbstbetitelten Debütalbum „Zetra“ (2024). 

Zeitgleich hat das Duo mit „Shards Of Power“ sowie „A Queen Ascends“ zwei B-Seiten hochgeladen. Anhören kann man sie auf allen gängigen Streaming-Plattformen. Zusammen mit zwei weiteren Stücken sind diese Bonus-Tracks auch auf der Bandcamp-Edition von „Believe“ zu finden.

Hinter dem Namen KING ULTRAMEGA verbirgt sich ein besonderes Projekt: Die Supergroup möchte mit ihren Aktivitäten die mentale Gesundheit sowie deren Wohlbefinden in den Fokus rücken. Hierzu arbeitet das Kollektiv mit Reigning Phoenix Music und MusCares zusammen.

Ein erstes musikalisches Lebenszeichen ist die Cover-Version des SOUNDGARDEN-Stücks „Rusty Cage„, mit der man sich vor deren verstorbenen Sänger Chris Cornells Lebenswerk verneigen möchte.

Eingespielt hat den Track die folgende Besetzung:

Ein Clip zu „No Apologies“ war der dritte und letzte Vorab-Song aus dem neuen WEDNESDAY 13-Album. Die zehnte Platte des ‚Duke of Spook‘ erschien am 25. April 2025 via Napalm Records und trägt den Titel „Mid Death Crisis“. Nun legte die Gruppe aber nochmals nach und hat ein Video zu „Rotting Away“ geteilt.

Zuvor teilt die Band auch einen Clip zu „In Misery“ und ein Video zu „When The Devil Commands“.

„Ich bin in den 80er Jahren aufgewachsen und erinnere mich gut an die ‚satanic panic‘. Eltern hatten damals Angst vor Heavy Metal und waren besorgt um ihre Kinder, wenn sie diese Musik hörten. Meine Mutter kontrollierte ständig meine Kassetten und vergewisserte sich, dass ich nicht vom Teufel besessen war. Die meiste Musik, die ich hörte, handelte nicht von diesen Themen, aber sie wurde unter Generalverdacht gestellt. Als ich den Text für unseren neuen Song schrieb, lies ich mich davon inspirieren, was meine Mutter erschrecken würde, wenn sie unsere Musik hören würde. Mein Ziel war mit dem Text unmissverständlich klar zu machen, dass es hier um den Teufel geht – aber es ist auch klar, dass sich dieser Song mit einem Augenzwinkern gemeint ist und wir nicht planen irgendwelche Kirchen anzuzünden.“

Produziert wurde die neue Platte von Gitarrist Alex Kane und gemischt von Steve Evetts. Als Gastsänger ist FASTER PUSSYCAT-Frontmann Taime Downe zu hören.

Es ist ein Song über die Kraft, weiterzumachen, wenn alles Vertraute zu Staub geworden ist. Im Juni hatte die Band mit „Spirit Corrosion“ ein weiteres Video zu einem der neuen Songs veröffentlicht.

 

Als erste Single teilten die Norddeutschen den Track „Overcast“:

„Generation Of The Void“ entstand zwischen 2021 und 2024, Gitarren, Bass und Schlagzeug wurden in den Woodshed Studios in Landshut aufgenommen, der Gesang von Jacob Hansen in den Hansen Studios in Ribe.  Zusätzliche Elemente, wie Synthesizer  hat NAILED TO OBSCURITY_Gitarrist Jan-Ole Lamberti  im Hauptquartier der Band in Ostfriesland produziert. Die Produktion kommt von V. Santura, Jacob Hansen und Lamberti aufgeteilt. Artwork und  des Albums kommen von Giannis Nakos.
