21.08.2025 - BRAINSTORM covern „Boys Of Summer“

21.08.2025 - Melbourne Post-Punk Outfit High Control Group Release Hazy Live Studio Video for “Hole in Heaven”

Everything eventually connects
And in hindsight all makes sense
Theres no coincidences
Just cooperative incidence
Melbourne’s High Control Group arrive like ghosts from a different decade, bearing the scars and shimmer of early ’80s UK post-punk. What started as Will Parker’s introspective sketches has since expanded into a full band featuring members of Hideous Sun Demon, Boat Show, Japanese Heart Software, U-Bahn, and others. Together, they conjure something both steeped in history and restless in its reinvention.

Their latest single, Hole In Heaven, first released in July and now reimagined in a live session at Melbourne’s Big House Studios, distills those obsessions with fate, chance encounters, and mortality into four minutes of stark beauty. Hole In Heaven builds around a lattice of arpeggiated synths and restrained guitar figures. The rhythm section holds steady with krautrock insistence, allowing tension to simmer until it bursts. There are echoes of Gary Numan’s chilly futurism and Sad Lovers & Giants’ windswept melancholy, but High Control Group strip these influences of nostalgia, instead folding them into a contemporary urgency.

At the center is Parker’s voice: a baritone that deadpans with Curtis-like detachment, yet carries the haunted conviction of Adrian Borland. The lyrics circle themes of converging paths, cosmic coincidence, and the inescapable fade of all things — but also the persistence of memory, the strange endurance of feeling even when flesh and time betray us.

The live recording arrives with a self-directed video from Parker, assisted by videographer Matthew Nolch. Multiple cameras capture the performance with the hazy grit of an unearthed VHS, a fitting frame for a song that feels unstuck in time. Analogue glitches and muted tones amplify the sense of dislocation, as though the footage had been sitting in someone’s cupboard since 1983, waiting for rediscovery.

Watch the live video for “Hole In Heaven” below:

High Control Group inhabits the terrain where yearning collides with dread, where the drive for human connection meets the inevitability of its dissolution.

20.08.2025 - Experimental Dream Pop Project Sunday’s Child 9 Refracts Solitude in Prismatic Video for “Your Apple”

Sunday’s Child 9, the Germany-based project of Nicole Faux Naiv, slips into the present moment with Your Apple, a single that feels equal parts intimate confession and quiet experiment. Known once for her dream pop guise as Nicole Faux Naiv, she has now fashioned a different guise entirely: leaner, stranger, and altogether more daring.

Comparable touchstones (This Mortal Coil, Nico, Zola Jesus, Mazzy Star) offer useful compass points, but Your Apple is more elliptical than any lineage suggests. There is no reliance on genre trappings; rather, a willingness to wander into unmapped corners where folk, ambient, and ethereal wave hold uneasy company.

Her palette is spare but richly hued: piano keys pressed as if reluctant to break the silence, synthesizers humming like low lantern light, guitars drawn out into long, deliberate sighs. Field recordings – the clatter of air, the hush of a room – creep into the mix, not as ornament, but as part of the breath itself. This is music that seeks to fold the outside world into its frame, blurring the line between composition and confession.

“Poetry is formed in the soul and is then released into the outside world,” says the artist. “The process itself is poetic.” One hears this credo in the piece’s shape: voice pared to its essence, a fragile murmur laced with quiet authority. It is a song that listens as much as it speaks.

The video, created by Adem Yildirmaz and Nicole Stieben, is a fractured vignette: Nicole multiplied in prisms, wandering through the silence of her own mind. It resists explanation, instead demanding one’s complicity. We glimpse her in fragments: an artist in solitude, yet never still, restless in stillness.

Watch the video for “Your Apple” below:

Nicole’s earlier works, Moon Rally (2022, Bronzerat Records) and Life In The Dream Sphere EP, were praised for their refinement—produced alongside Robbie Moore and performed across Paris, Strasbourg, and Berlin. Yet Sunday’s Child 9 marks a decisive turning: a turn away from polish toward something deliberately unsettled. A 2023 appearance in Tokyo, with help from musician Noriko Sekiguchi, hinted at this restlessness. Now it crystallizes.

An album is promised in October 2025 via her own Romantic Rebirth imprint. If the quiet elegance of Your Apple is any indication, it will not flatter the ear so much as unsettle it: an act of poetry released, in her words, from the soul into the world, strange fruit proffered with an outstretched hand.

20.08.2025 - Boardwalk Dreams — Darkwave Duo Dead Cool Explores Grief and Nostalgia in Video for “Story of Another Life”

Always running out of time
It’s our life
Coming to the end of the line
The story of another life
Wilmington, North Carolina’s Dead Cool return with Story of Another Life, a single that carries personal weight into the heart of their music. The track begins with a mechanized beat, steady and unyielding, as though someone has managed to lock time itself into a rhythm. Synths surge forward with insistence, glowing with a nocturnal charge, conjuring the atmosphere of a city that never really sleeps.

For Johnny Yeagher, the song emerged during a period when the ground shifted beneath him. His mother’s cancer diagnosis fractured the idea of permanence, leaving him to face the truth that days can change in an instant. That rupture informs the entire track. Every note, every turn of the arrangement, is touched by that revelation, that what feels eternal can dissolve without warning.

His vocal pulls the listener into that reckoning. There is no grand flourish, but a slow, deliberate ascent. The lyrics rise like wisps of smoke into still air, fragile yet insistent; hovering in the space between memory and the wish to hold back the hands of the clock. They’re less about surrender than recognition, acknowledging what cannot be stopped while still finding meaning in the attempt to pause it. The song’s tension between the mechanical drive of the beat and the ache of the voice creates its power. It’s a reminder that movement doesn’t cancel out grief. Instead, it becomes the way through. To dance is to hold on, to acknowledge that time is fleeting and yet insist on being alive within it.

The accompanying video, directed by Bradley Pearce, takes these ideas and places them in a more intimate frame. Johnny and Angie Yeagher are seen at a Boardwalk carnival at night, surrounded by neon lights and temporary pleasures. They eat cotton candy, watch a carousel spin, and walk toward the ocean where the tide presses against the sand. These are small gestures; moments of connection that steady us when the wider world feels unsteady.

Story of Another Life signals significant songwriting and video production growth for Dead Cool through its unflinching honesty. It’s a song that acknowledges fragility without collapsing under it, finding strength in rhythm, in memory, and in the simplest acts of love.

Watch the video for “Story of Another Life” below:

Dead Cool takes its name from a Chrome Cranks cut, a sly nod that hints at the duo’s taste for grit and glamour in equal measure. Johnny drives the songs with a mix of voice, synth, and guitar that shifts shape from track to track, while Angela anchors the pulse on bass and lifts the melodies with her harmonies. Together they strike a balance between urgency and atmosphere, somewhere in the wide terrain of darkwave, post-punk, and synthpop.

Since 2020, they’ve been building momentum the old-fashioned way: stage by stage, crowd by crowd. In the States, they’ve left their mark at Absolution Fest in Tampa and Dark Castle Fest in Louisville. Across the Atlantic, they’ve carried the same energy into nights at London’s Slimelight and Italy’s Midnight Club in Bergamo. Along the way, they’ve shared bills with Bootblacks, ACTORS, Astari Nite, Korine, Vision Video, and Xeno & Oaklander…bands that, like them, thrive in the after-hours where dance and drama meet.

20.08.2025 - Berlin Post-Punk Outfit Agatha is Dead! Sings of a Broken Relationship in “No Love to Prove” — Tour Dates Announced!

The heart, worn like a stone in the pocket, gathers its bruises in silence. Love, when it tilts so far off-center, ceases to feel like communion and hardens instead into a kind of debt collected in sleepless nights, in humiliations swallowed, in the body’s flame reduced to a faint ember. When the hand unclenches, when the cord finally frays and breaks, there is no parade of triumph, only the stark, lonely hush of release. Something shifts: the air clears like smoke after a fire, and within the emptiness lies a thin murmur of grace. It is the sensation of weight lifting, of remembering the self unbent, of stepping into the indifferent dawn stripped of illusions but carrying a fierce, scarred clarity.

Berlin’s Agatha Is Dead! gives that moment a voice. Their new single, no love to prove (Duchess Box Records), sets the stage for their debut EP order, arriving October 10th. The track bottles the charge of relationships broken by imbalance—the fatigue of endlessly justifying love to someone unwilling to meet halfway, and the sharp lucidity of finally refusing the cycle. It begins in resignation but does not stay there; it coils into something urgent, unbound, and emancipatory.

no love to prove is less confession than proclamation. The vocals, commanding and visceral, recall the raw immediacy of PJ Harvey colliding with the wiry bite of Bush Tetras. Guitars carve out lines that are jagged yet insistent, while the bass thrums with an anchoring impatience, a refusal to stall, a pulse that keeps pressing forward. The rhythm section lends unyielding, restless attitude.

It’s the sound of exhaustion turned inside out, of pain transmuted into momentum. Where once there was depletion, Agatha Is Dead! summon motion, force, even joy in severance. Their music captures the paradox of release: that to let go, finally, is to feel not smaller but larger, more alive. no love to prove is a reminder that liberation rarely arrives with fanfare.

Listen to “No Love to Prove” below:

Formed in the chill of 2021’s lockdown, the band began as an experiment between old friends Lilly Bartholomew-Günther and Noah Oisin O’Donoghue. What started in school corridors found new urgency in Berlin basements, soon joined by Joey Ramone Hansen on drums, driving with grunge bite, and bassist Arthur Melzow, anchoring everything with a wiry, muscular tone. Their bond stitched together a sound wired to Joy Division’s stark pulse, The Cure’s gothic ache, Molchat Doma’s deadpan drawl, and Fontaines DC’s street-corner urgency.

The live shows came quickly, their first in 2022 arriving only weeks after Melzow joined. Since then, Agatha Is Dead! have become regulars across the city’s clubs and corners, testing out a catalogue equal parts serrated and spellbound. They’ve absorbed shards of Bloc Party’s sharp edges, DIIV’s dream-haze, Liily’s restless chaos, and The Pretty Reckless’s unapologetic stomp.

Now the stages grow larger. Their first Berlin headliner sold out months ahead, a sign that word spreads quickly when a band burns this brightly. The upcoming tour in September carries them beyond the city’s limits, into rooms that will soon feel too small.

Tour Dates:

5 Sep @ Privatclub, Berlin – Sold Out
6 Sep @ Monkeys Music Club, Hamburg
8 Sep @ Lux, Hannover
10 Sep @ Yuca, Köln
12 Sep @ Ponyhof, Frankfurt
14 Sept @ Backstage Club, München

20.08.2025 - THE HALO EFFECT covern „If You Were Here“ von KENT

THE HALO EFFECT haben den KENT-Song „If You Were Here“ gecovert, Gitarrist Peter Iwers erklärt, was ihm der Song bedeutet:
