Mit „Vlies“ wird am 3. Oktober 2025 das neue Album der Sax-o-Doom Metal-Band MRIODOM erscheinen. Es ist das erste Album des deutschen Quartetts aus Berlin und wurde von Jan Oberg (EARTH SHIP, GRIN) in den Hidden Planet Studios in Berlin produziert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Eric Sepsyz.

„Vlies“ handelt von Entblößung, Kampf und Veränderung. Mit „Kult“ gibt es einen ersten Vorab-Track zu hören.

Die Metalcore-Band ABBIE FALLS hat einen Labeldeal bei Out Of Line Music unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen wird die Band ihres neues Album „Life is just a temporary plan“ veröffentlichen, welches am 12. Dezember 2025 erscheinen wird. Nach „Hellbound“ und „Black Void“ gibt es mit „unnatural order“ – mit Alan Grnja (DISTANT) als Gast – nun eine weitere neue Single.

Erstes Zeugnis der Label-Zusammenarbeit war der Release der Single „Purge„, welche die Tschechen aus Prag gemeinsam mit BREAKDOWN OF SANITY eingespielt haben. Danach hat die Band mit „Victim“ eine weitere Single veröffentlicht.

„Der Song fängt die tschechisch-slawische Depression ein. Es ist eine unerbittliche Reise durch innere Konflikte, die Gefühle des Gefangenseins, des Unverstandenwerdens und der Frustration thematisiert. Der Text ist durchtränkt von Rebellion, mit gewalttätigen, viszeralen Bildern, die sich den selbstzerstörerischen Kräften im Inneren entgegenstellen“, erklärt die Band.

Nach einem Video zu „Blacksmith of Damnation“ gibt es mit der Ankündigung auch einen Video-Clip zu „No Escape„.

„‚No Escape‘ handelt vom Kampf, man selbst zu sein, von der Falle, etwas zu werden, was man nicht ist, und von der Balance zwischen Authentizität und Überleben. Wir haben uns nicht ausgesucht, hier zu sein, aber wir können entscheiden, wie wir das Spiel spielen. Wir sind darauf konditioniert, die Dinge um uns herum nicht in Frage zu stellen, uns anzupassen und unsere Gefühle tief zu vergraben. Wir bauen Mauern, die so hoch sind, dass wir keinen Ausweg mehr sehen. In diesem Song geht es um Identität, Druck, Kontrolle und die Erkenntnis, dass man irgendwann von dem eingeholt wird, vor dem man davonläuft, wenn man sich dem nicht stellt“, erklärt die Band.

Die Symphonic Metal-Band GLASYA hat mit „Fear“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist nach „Heaven’s Demise“ (2019) und „Attarghan“ (2022) das dritte Album der Portugiesen aus Lissabon rund um Sängerin Eduarda Soeiro, die Teil des Live-Line-Ups von MOONSPELL ist.

Das Album erzählt die Geschichte einer Frau, die sich ihren eigenen Ängsten stellen muss und den Mut findet, diese zu überwinden. Der Zuhörer schlüpft in die Rolle der Protagonistin und spürt ihre Beklommenheit, ihre Überzeugungen, ihre Erfolge und das Selbstvertrauen, das sie entwickelt, um einem nahestehenden Menschen zu helfen. Release-Termin ist der 24. Oktober 2025 via Scarlet Records. Vorab gibt es einen Video-Clip zum eröffnenden Titeltrack – mit Gast-Sänger Fernando Ribeiro (MOONSPELL).

„Sarah, die Hauptfigur des Albums, wacht allein, verwirrt und ohne Erinnerungen an einem unwirtlichen Ort auf. Midnight and the stars hang so low

The lights in Portland carry a particular kind of shimmerless glow: industrial, uneasy, freighted with memory. Out of that glow, in the hush and havoc of 2021, Nyx Division formed. Four figures bound together by riffs and rhythm, they built their sound while the world folded in on itself. Global isolation, corrupt politics, collapsing trust: the conditions for their arrival were nothing short of apocalyptic. Nyx Division chose to offer us a reminder that movement is resistance and the floor is sanctuary.

Their debut full-length Midnight Lights feels less like a record than a strike of phosphor against concrete. On the title track, Midnight Lights, Alex Rivas’s bass throbs like an artery, while Mason Wilkinson’s drumming turns each track into a call to arms for the body. Newcomer Justin Cory splinters the sound with guitars that thread menace and glitter in equal measure. And at the centre, Domîno Monët sings as though every vowel might open another world: soaring, pleading, daring the listener to step closer to the flame.

Midnight Lights is a fevered rendezvous: a disco lit by the moon and haunted by possibility. Its lyrics fixate on eyes, halos, the promise of passion suspended in time. What the words describe is fleeting: two people caught at the edge of departure, but what the band delivers is permanence, the kind of chorus that feels tattooed across the evening.

There are echoes of their influences: Killing Joke’s militant repetition, Thin Lizzy’s metallic grace, the gauze of Cocteau Twins and the passion of The Cult – but Nyx Division also yanks disco strobe into their brand of goth rock, let heavy metal muscle shoulder against post-punk cool down, then lace the whole affair with a queer sensibility that insists on desire as defiance. These are not borrowed poses but lived declarations, electrified by personal urgency.

The visuals add another layer. Olivia Bayer’s video for Midnight Lights places the band in a club thick with skulls, webs, and red wash, a theatre of the macabre that somehow still invites communion.

Three years since their inception, Nyx Division are no longer a project born of crisis but a group fully in motion. Midnight Lights is the evidence. It is high-voltage, unsentimental, full of desire and drive. It wants you on your feet, singing as though your voice could hold the world steady for one more night. In the culture of collapse, they conjure resilience, and they do it to the beat.

The band will also be offering the Midnight Lights zine, containing essays by Monet that delve into the themes and meaning behind the songs from Midnight Lights! The zine will be available in print when the album is released and digitally with downloads direct from the band’s Bandcamp.

It is as if the air itself grows heavy, pressed with the residue of every wrong word, every rash deed, every failure to love rightly. To meet another’s eyes is to face a tribunal: memory made flesh, judgment breathing softly. Silence thrums louder than speech; each gesture quivers with the chance of absolution or ruin. The moment suspends itself, taut as wire, vibrating with the ache of histories unspoken. What follows crackles like heat before a storm, like guilt that neither fades nor forgives, but waits…patient, unrelenting.

The House Always Wins by Public Memory enters in the same manner: a transmission from a forgotten station, half-buried in static yet unsettlingly intimate. Synthesizers bend and fracture, their edges worn like stone eroded by years. Beats stagger and shuffle, sometimes mechanical, sometimes human, as if the body and its ghosts move to separate clocks. A voice threads through: spectral, tender, urgent, carrying both ache and invitation. This is music shaped from the margins of recollection: fragments of trip hop, the residue of dub, the pulse of house refracted through rain-streaked glass.

The romance here is taut, electric, charged with unease and the weight of history. Lyrics circle the wreckage of past decisions, temptation smothered into silence, courage that arrived too late. Regret drifts like smoke, yet hidden in its haze is vitality: a rhythm that beckons the body to move, to dance in spite of burden.

The production itself is a fog of texture: keys warped into whispers, percussion echoing down corridors without end. What first feels remote soon presses close, like breath at the nape of the neck. The tenor at its center binds it together, urging, never consoling. The sound feels lush, otherworldly, yet unstable, forever poised on the brink of collapse. That precariousness is its allure: the unpredictability of a dream where streets dissolve, faces shift, and the heart still recognizes something essential beneath the distortion.

So begins 약속 / Yaksok, the new single from Las Vegas trio Past Self, and already we’re cast adrift in the disquieting territory of promises: their fragility, their betrayals, and their power to define who we are in the eyes of others and in the mirrors we avoid.

Past Self were not born in neon shadows but within the walls of a College of Southern Nevada music production class, where Sung Joo Kim, Julian West (Spektor), and Holly Haywood (æther) discovered a shared inclination for texture, unease, and melody. Their early incarnation as Luxury Furniture Store leaned psychedelic, but the tumult of 2020 and the turbulence of its aftermath pushed them elsewhere. By 2023, they shed that skin and renamed themselves Past Self, a title that carries its own dirge of regret and recognition.

Their chosen moniker feels apt: the music is haunted by memory, by ghostly traces of who one once was. Past Self embraces their self-described “K-Goth” identity, fusing Korean and English lyrics into a single breath, pulling threads from darkwave, shoegaze, and post-punk until the distinctions blur. There’s something of The Cure’s mournful openness here, a touch of The Horrors’ dramatic sweep, the thick haze of My Bloody Valentine—but translated into a bilingual register that feels wholly new.

약속 translates to Promise, and the track sits in that liminal space between vow and void. Kim’s voice trembles with intimacy, weaving Korean and English into the same line, while Spektor’s bass rolls like undertow, dragging everything into its current. Æther’s keys shimmer at the surface, at once consoling and accusatory, while the absence of live drums paradoxically heightens the immediacy—the rhythm pulses with mechanical insistence, like a clock reminding you of time slipping away.

약속 is unsettling in its clarity: “Now that you know the truth, isn’t it strange? You’ve never once looked inside the mirror.” It is less confession than indictment, sung with the weight of knowing that self-recognition, once avoided, can no longer be escaped. The song holds you in that gaze until you flinch.

Past Self’s journey has been marked by growth through shadows: their 2023 EP Die Cry Hate announced their hybrid identity, while last year’s Premonitions expanded their palette. The single 녹슨 칼 / Nogseun Kal (Rusty Knife) explored toxic friendships with surgical coldness. Now 약속 sharpens their focus further, and their growing live reputation, sharing bills with Mareux, Pink Turns Blue, Vision Video, Drab Majesty, and Twin Tribes, suggests their promises are being kept.

Mexico City’s Gris Futuro occupies the spaces between past and present; tactile machinery and flickering digital ghosts; the relentless acceleration of modern life and the hypnotic pull of its shadowed corners. On November 7th, 2025, the duo will finally unveil their debut full-length, Nowadaze, via à La Carte Records, arriving on lush 12” vinyl.

In a cultural moment dominated by algorithmic flattening and playlists designed for background noise, Gris Futuro offer something deliberately imprecise: a lived-in, voltage-driven sound that hums with the errors and warmth of human touch. Their new single, Shine (A Neon Light), is a reminder that the future always carries the static of the past, and that imperfection is where the spark lives.

Formed in late 2021 by Lithuanian vocalist Egl� Naujokaityt� and Mexican synthesist Rogelio Serrano (best known under his alias Equinoxious), Gris Futuro are synth purists in a digital age. Where most musicians chase pristine perfection through laptops and endless plugins, Gris Futuro build their songs from electricity itself: modular racks, vintage drum machines, analog circuitry. Their instruments breathe, crackle, and sometimes fail in unpredictable ways. That volatile hum of chaos gives the music its pulse.

Shine (A Neon Light) expands the duo’s vision of a world suspended between dystopia and desire. Its great mid-80s Italo disco synth work beams with metallic shimmer, while NaujokaitytÄ�’s high, airy vocals hover above the circuitry like a signal from another frequency. The track manages something rare: it feels euphoric in its expansive style, even as it leans into the tension of static, voltage, and overload. The result is a strain of minimal synth that feels both steeped in history and eerily prescient: echoing the stark allure of pioneers like Portion Control, The Naughtiest Girl Was a Monitor, and Minny Pops, while standing shoulder to shoulder with modern luminaries such as Xeno & Oaklander, Martial Canterel, and Linea Aspera.

Nowadaze by Gris Futuro

Gris Futuro capture the vertigo of being alive in the present, suspended between timelines, caught in the glow of machines that both liberate and ensnare us. Nowadaze is their hymn to this uneasy condition: a record that understands that to sound human, music sometimes has to sound broken. In the cracks between perfect beats and fluorescent melodies, Gris Futuro shine all the brighter.

Nowadaze collects and refracts the duo’s recent output, including the haunting Lithuanian-language single Juodi Žirgai, an ode to hidden depths and the inner “black sun” of intuition…and Hiperenfoque, a kinetic meditation on the hyperfixations of the neurodivergent mind. Across the album, NaujokaitytÄ�’s multilingual lyrics (English, Spanish, Lithuanian, and French) unravel subconscious twists, sensual thresholds, and the fragile architecture of the self, while Serrano’s analogue textures oscillate between austere machinery and dancefloor gravity.

Die Trompete, Bochum, Germany 5th September 2025Men Without Hats - “European Tour 2025” - Support: EGOamp One of the most underrated bands of the 80s is MEN WITHOUT HATS. Even though the Canadian synth band didn’t have many well-known songs, they have a huge fan base. With ‘The Safety Dance’, they topped the charts for weeks in 1982 and filled dance floors in clubs. In 2025, MEN WITHOUT HATS went on tour again and made a stop at the small Bochum club Die Trompete in early September. EGO AMP warmed up the crowd with their synth sounds, evoking feelings of the 80s.

Dass IN MOURNING nach ihren eigenen Regeln spielen, ist schnell offensichtlich. Denn die Schweden unachtsam mit anderen Melodic Death Metal-Bands in einen Topf zu werfen, würde den ungleich progressiv angelegten Strukturen von „The Immortal“ nicht gerecht werden. Getragen von erhabenen Melodien offenbart das Material gerade im rhythmischen Bereich ein wenig mehr Komplexität, als wir zumeist im Genre antreffen.

Insofern führen uns auch naheliegende Referenzen mit früheren OPETH oder gar THE OCEAN in eine gänzlich andere Richtung. Letztere blitzen nicht nur in Tobias Netzells gepressten Shouts punktuell hervor, auch das massive Riff von „Song Of The Cranes“ trägt ein wenig Post-Metal-Flair in sich. Gleichzeitig ist es nur eine Facette des Sounds, den IN MOURNING hier weiterentwickeln: Björn Petterssons zarter Klargesang sorgt für ein paar Augenblicke der Introspektion, während sich die Leadgitarre in den offen angelegten Passagen ähnlich entfaltet, wie sie es gerne bei INSOMNIUM tut.

„The Sojourner“ wiederum ist nicht weit von SOENs „Imperial“ (2021) entfernt, nur eben in den Melodic Death Metal übersetzt. Sich zu wiederholen kommt für IN MOURNING offenbar nicht in Frage, wie sich alsbald im wundervoll getragenen „North Star“ oder den Black-Metal-Spitzen von „Staghorn“ zeigt. Gefühlvoll-melancholisch oder ungezügelt furios – „The Immortal“ macht sich so ziemlich jeden Gefühlszustand zu eigen, auf Album- wie auf Songebene.

Beachtlich ist an diesem Ansatz vor allem, wie schlüssig die vielfältigen Kompositionen letzten Endes zu einem ganzen Werk zusammenfinden und dabei – aller Querverweise zum Trotz – doch auf eigenen Beinen stehen. Talent gehört sicherlich dazu, aber was IN MOURNING darüber hinaus auszeichnet, ist der Mut, das bestehende Regelwerk in der Schublade zu lassen, um die Grenzen des Genres kurzerhand neu abzustecken.

Mit ihrem zweiten Studioalbum melden sich MAAHES zurück. „Nechacha“ erscheint am 19. September 2025 via Massacre Records auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital und soll musikalisch zugleich härter und orchestraler ausfallen. „Nechacha“ bezeichnet das „Flagellum“, ein altägyptisches Symbold der Herrschaft, das Pharaonen und Göttern vorbehalten war. Ab sofort verschafft das Video „Keeper Of Secrets“ einen Eindruck der Platte.

Produziert wurde die Platte von Thomas Winnerl und Heiko Müller. Den Mix übernahmen Müller und V. Santura. Für das Artwork schließlich zeichnet Marcus Röll (Autumn Arts) verantwortlich. Zuvor erschien das Debütalbum „Reincarnation“ im Jahr 2020.

DARK ANGEL haben ihr neuen Albums „Extinction Level Event“ veröffentlicht. Die erste neue Platte der Thrash Metal-Band seit 34 Jahren erschien am 5. September 2025 via Reversed Records. Den Entstehungsprozess dokumentiert die Gruppe mit einer Videoserie bei YouTube. Die Erste Episode der „Making of“-Reihe kann man bereits ansehen:

Der Titelsong war für einige Zeit bei YouTube zu finden, inzwischen wurde der Track aber vom DARK ANGEL-Channel wieder gelöscht, der Track ist offiziell nur noch als Digital-Single erhältlich.

Geschrieben hat den Song DARK ANGEL-Gitarrist Jim Durkin, er ist 2023 verstorben. Gene Hoglan berichtet:

„Jim Durkin hat uns dieses Stück hinterlassen, es fasst perfekt zusammen, was DARK ANGEL ausmacht.  Ich liebe den Song. Wir haben ihn zum Mittelpunkt der Platte gemacht, nicht als Tribut an Jim oder aus sentimentalen Gründen,  sondern weil es ein Killersong ist. Er hat ihn vor zehn Jahren geschrieben, und nach heutigen Maßstäben ist er immer noch umwerfend.“

Das Cover von „Extinction Level Event“ ist von Cain Gillis.

Bei Spotify kann man sich „Circular Firing Squad“ anhören, der im Juni als Single veröffentlicht wurde.

Psychedelisch, progressiv und mit Retro-Vibe beschreibt die Rock-Band THE LANCASTERS den Sound ihres neuen Albums „The Word Of The Mistral“. Davon überzeugen kann man sich mittels der Single „Hildegarde“, die u.a. via bandcamp verfügbar ist.
