Die Metalcore-Band NEAERA stellt ihr neues Album “All Is Dust” mit einem Videoclip zur Single “Pacifier” bei YouTube vor. Die nunmehr achte Studioplatte der Münsteraner folgt auf das selbstbetitelte “Neaera” (2020) und enthält zehn neue Tracks.

Erscheinen wird “All Is Dust” am 28. Juni 2024 via Metal Blade auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital.

Die Modern Melodic Death Metal-Band NUMENTO hat mit “Singularity” eine neue Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Beim Song geht es darum, dass jeder von uns seinen eigenen Weg und seinen inneren Frieden im Leben finden muss, indem er auf seine eigene Intuition hört.

Im März 2024 ist mit “Timetrap” eine weitere Single mitsamt Video-Clip erschienen. Der Song ist von Science-Fiction-Geschichten inspiriert und erzählt von verschiedenen Dimensionen der Zeit. Im Mittelpunkt der Geschichte steht auch die Tatsache, dass wir der Wahrheit oder unserem Schicksal, das wir täglich durch unsere eigenen Handlungen und Entscheidungen gestalten, nicht entkommen können.

Wenigen Wochen zuvor ist mit “The Solipsist” eine weitere Single mitsamt Video-Clip erschienen. Die Geschichte des Liedes dreht sich um einen Protagonisten, der in seiner Fantasiewelt gefangen ist, wo er sich in der Einsamkeit als allmächtig sieht, andere nachahmt, aber nur seine eigene Existenz im Zentrum von allem begreift.

Die Songs werden Teil eines neuen und dritten Albums der Finnen sein, welches im Sommer 2024 erscheinen soll. Zuvor hat die Band mit “The Cataclysm” (2019) und “The Vile Entity” (2022) zwei Alben veröffentlicht.

SLIPKNOT haben ihren neuen Schlagzeuger nun auch offiziell vorgestellt: Eloy Casagrande (ex-SEPULTURA) nimmt künftig hinter den Kesseln Platz und löst damit Jay Weinberg (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES) ab, von dem sich die US-Amerikaner Ende 2023 trennten. Live erleben kann man das neue Line-up auch hierzulande noch 2024.

Unter dem Motto “Here Comes The Pain” sind SLIPKNOT im Dezember 2024 in Europa und Großbritannien auf Tour. Die Band gibt insgesamt elf Konzerte, drei davon sind in Deutschland, eines in der Schweiz.

Die Metalcore-Band ICE NINE KILLS hat einen Mitschnitt ihres Songs “Welcome To Horrorwood” bei YouTube gepostet. Aufgezeichnet wurde der Song wie der Live-Clip ihres Stücks “The Shower Scene”, der Mitschnitt ihres Tracks “Funeral Derangements” und das Live-Video “Hip To Be Scared” am 29. August 2023 im Municipal Auditorium in Riverside (Kalifornien). Entnommen ist “The Shower Scene” dem aktuellen Album “The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood” (2021).

NESTOR haben erste Infos zum Nachfolger ihres Debütalbums “Kids In A Ghost Town” verraten und einen ersten Song daraus geteilt: Die neue Platte heißt “Teenage Rebel” und erscheint am 31. Mai 2024. Zur zweiten Single “Caroline” kann man sich nun einen Clip bei YouTube ansehen.

The origin of the track is explained by the band’s frontman Alex Svenson: “‘Stay Strange!’ is the call that Dusty Gannon of Vision Video shouts after every show”. When we returned home from our last tour with them, I began working on the song and made it a tribute to the post-punk/goth scene. It was also a natural choice to invite Dusty to sing the chorus.”

Vom Großen zum Kleinen: Erörterten WHEEL auf „Resident Human“ (2021) noch die menschliche Natur an sich, rückt auf dem Drittwerk ein spezieller Aspekt der Thematik in den Fokus: Personenkult und Medien nimmt sich „Charismatic Leaders“ zur Brust und wird dadurch natürlich unweigerlich politisch. Unsere Beeinflussbarkeit durch Medien-Konglomerate prangert Sänger James Lascelles ebenso an wie die zusehends dominante Rolle markanter Führungspersönlichkeiten, hinter deren Auftreten die eigentlichen Inhalte in den Hintergrund treten.

Keineswegs neue Konzepte, wie der Frontmann selbst feststellt, und doch aktueller denn je. Vielleicht ist es auch diese besorgniserregende Entwicklung, die den Einstieg „Empire“ so aufbrausend erscheinen lässt. Für WHEEL ist das Stück regelrecht aggressiv: Das metallisch geprägte Riffing drängt zwischen den ruhigen Strophen mit Zug nach vorne und zeigt uns so eine Seite des Trios, die wir in dieser Ausprägung noch nicht kannten.

Ausladende Prog-Kompositionen sind auch auf “Charismatic Leaders” das Herzstück WHEELs
Wobei die britisch-finnische Band auf „Charismatic Leaders“ freilich nicht alles über den Haufen wirft. Ausladende Prog-Metal-Eskapaden um die Zehn-Minuten-Marke bilden weiterhin das Herzstück ihrer Musik, die nach wie vor auf eine gesunde Balance aus Tiefgang und Zugänglichkeit setzt. Entspannt und federleicht können wir uns in „Porcelain“ fallen lassen oder uns in die fordernden Arrangements mit leichtem TOOL-Einschlag reinfuchsen, wie sie uns „Disciple“ oder „Submission“ zur Genüge präsentieren.

Über all dem schwebt Lascelles sanfte wie heller Singstimme, die sich selten in den Vordergrund schiebt und dennoch mittels klar definierter Gesangslinien durch die Stücke führt. Dass die transparente Produktion derweil jedem noch so kleinen Detail seinen Platz einräumt, hilft nicht allein Drummer Santeri Saksalas angenehm unverkrampften Spiel, sondern erzeugt grundsätzlich eine weitläufige und geräumige Klangkulisse.

WHEEL setzen auf eine vertraute Basis, um Neues zu wagen
Zugute kommt das wiederum den zahlreichen Wendungen, mit welchen WHEEL ein Stück wie „Saboteur“ frisch halten: Der getragene, bisweilen verträumte Mittelpart bricht so die beklemmende Atmosphäre auf, welche die manchmal schleppende, manchmal kraftvoll drückende Gitarrenarbeit herausbeschwört.

Obgleich die Formation ihrem Profil auf diese Weise neue Konturen verleiht, bewegt sich „Charismatic Leaders“ im Gesamten allerdings weiterhin in gewohnten Bahnen: Statt zur Revolution aufzurufen, geht es musikalisch um Fortschritt, was in diesem Fall vorwiegend bedeutet, dem politisch aufgeladenen und beängstigenden Grundkonzept einen passenden Rahmen zu spendieren. Dass dabei manche Arrangements über die komplette Laufzeit hinweg auch ineinanderfließen können, ist dem oft vorgelebten Understatement WHEELs zuzuschreiben.

Ein kleiner Fleck auf der Weste, welcher sich aber im Endeffekt gar nicht so bemerkbar macht: Verlieren die Musiker doch einmal unsere ungeteilte Aufmerksamkeit, schalten wir unbewusst und wie automatisch selbst vom Kleinen zurück zum Großen: Nicht das verkopfte Detail ist nun wichtig, sondern die grundlegende Atmosphäre, in welcher wir uns auch im Jahr 2024 treiben lassen können, ohne mit einem bösen Erwachen rechnen zu müssen.

Life throws curveballs faster than a major league pitcher in the ninth inning, and Urban Heat’s latest single, Seven Safe Places, catches every one with grace.  In this track, the Austin-based band spins the tale of lovers darting from one hideout to another, never quite escaping the looming threat that snaps at their heels. It’s a musical game of hide and seek, where the stakes are nothing less than finding peace of mind in a society that often seems on the brink of collapse.

Seven Safe Places is a melodic post-punk tune that explores the ups and downs of seeking a little tranquility in the chaos of modern life. With this offering, Urban Heat is stepping up its game, blending Jonathan Horstmann’s rich, distinctive vocals with sharp-as-a-tack poetry and a beat that could make any wallflower bloom.

With a wink and a nod, Seven Safe Places sees Horstmann serve up a dose of playful melancholy. His knack for turning brooding introspection into catchy hooks is on full display here, proving that you can indeed dance your sorrow away — for at least a moment of respite until the music ends.

“The song is about uncertainty and loss, and how each day of the week we have another opportunity to find a fleeting safety,” says Horstmann. “I imagined a pair of star-crossed lovers on the run, and each day they find a place to hide out that gets compromised and they find themselves looking for the next. Life is like that sometimes. We can’t take any of our safe places for granted because there’s no telling how long they will exist.”

Für ihr neues Album “Banished By Sin” haben DEICIDE einen Plattenvertrag beim neu gegründeten Label Reigning Phoenix Music unterschrieben, das 13. Studioalbum der Death Metal-Band erschien am 26. April 2024. Zum Release teilte die Gruppe zudem einen Clip zu “From Unknown Heights You Shall Fall” bei YouTube. Warnung: Das Video zeigt “u.a. suizidale Handlungen”, die auf manche Personen verstörend wirken können.

Die Retro Rock-Band NO WAYNE hat mit “Sjöhagsvägen” eine neue EP angekündigt. Es ist nach “4 Star EP” (2023 – noch unter dem Namen FINNJÄVLAR SE) die zweite EP der schwedischen Band, die sich unter besonderen Umständen gegründet hat: Gitarrist Kai und Drummer Ilpo sind Brüder. Doch erst nach dem Tod eines Elternteils vor ein paar Jahren entdeckten sie die Existenz des jeweils anderen und nahmen Kontakt auf. Ein wichtiger gemeinsamer Nenner war ihre gemeinsame Leidenschaft für Musik, und als sie feststellten, dass sie beide Instrumente spielten, beschlossen sie, gemeinsam eine Band zu gründen. Schon bald holten sie Göran, Kais ältesten Freund, als Bassisten und Kais Ex-Frau Camilla als Sängerin hinzu.

“Sjöhagsvägen” wurde von Chips Kiesbye (SATOR) produziert und wird am 14. Juni 2024 erscheinen.

Die Progressive / Post-Metal-Band EVA CAN´T hat mit “Emisferi” ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das fünfte Album der Italiener aus Bologna und soll im September 2024 via My Kingdom Music erscheinen.

“Es ist ein Konzeptalbum, das von einer Reise von Pol zu Pol entlang eines völlig unbewohnten und unbewohnbaren Planeten Erde handelt”, erklärt die Band. “Die Platte ist in zwei Abschnitte (Süd- und Nordhalbkugel) und jeweils in zwei weitere Unterabschnitte (Land und Wasser) unterteilt.
