Die Progressive-Rock-Supergroup MANDOKI SOULMATES um Mastermind Leslie Mandoki veröffentlichte am 10. Mai 2024 ihr neues Album “A Memory Of Our Future” via InsideOut Music. Aufgenommen wurde die Platte analog in Mandokis eigenen Red Rock Studios, das Mastering geschah derweil in den New Yorker Sterling Sound Studios. Zum Release teilte das Gespann einen Clip zum Titeltrack bei YouTube.

Reinhören ist darüber hinaus in die dritte Auskopplung “We Stay Loud” bei YouTube möglich.

Auch “The Big Quit” ist via YouTube abrufbar. Die erste Single “Blood In The Water” gibt es ebenfalls als Lyric-Clip bei YouTube.

From the misty realms of Oakland, California, Parallel emerges, weaving together the introspective echoes of post-punk and the ethereal whispers of shoegaze. They craft their unique sound by entwining the dense and brooding with the airy and delicate, forming a lush yet austere musical tapestry that shimmers with a dark, haunting beauty. Drawing on the gothic psychedelia of The Chameleons and Sad Lovers and Giants and the minimalist atmospherics of Slowdive, Low, and Wire, Parallel’s music is a modern odyssey through dream pop, slowcore and post-punk—a soundscape that is both timeless and otherworldly.

Their latest enchantment, Blister, unfurls with a melody that winds its way deep into the soul, intertwining dual voices in a dance of vulnerability and strength. The song pulses with a rhythm that mirrors the eternal tension between decay and promise, guiding the listener through a fog-shrouded journey where single guitar notes illuminate the path to a soaring conclusion. Each note paints vivid, ephemeral images, capturing both the tangible and the intangible.

Blister‘s lyrics delve into the transient beauty of decay, juxtaposing ruin with the glimmer of hope. The imagery evokes a journey through shifting realities, where light and shadow play at the edges of perception. Themes of ephemeral existence are woven through the lyrics, suggesting a world where endings are intertwined with moments of rapture, and new visions emerge from the remnants of the past. It’s a world vast yet intimate, where time is marked by both withering and shining moments.

The visualizer for “Blister” beautifully captures this cyclical dance with stop-motion animation of a rose constructing and deconstructing itself. Watch below:


Parallel was born in the autumn of 2019, and their sound was forged in the crucible of drummer Maria’s basement during the early pandemic days. Over the next five years, they refined their craft, emerging from the DIY scene with roots in projects like Ragana and Negative Standards. Their live debut was met with swift acclaim in the Bay Area, leading to a West Coast tour that reached from Tijuana to Vancouver, BC. With plans for an East Coast and Midwest tour in 2025, Parallel’s momentum shows no signs of slowing. They recently opened for Mount Eerie at the Great American Music Hall and contributed to the compilation of Psychic Eye Records, The Ancient Wall, supporting displaced Palestinians and Oakland’s homeless.

In 2023, Parallel returned to Atomic Garden Studios to record Flooded, a six-track mini-album set for release in July 2024 on Play Alone Records and Cherub Dream Records. This album builds on their established sound with dynamic song structures, intricate vocal harmonies, and interweaving dual-guitar melodies, offering an expansive lyrical palette.

Vor wenigen Tagen erschien die neue EP der Deathcore-Band WASTE. Release-Termin von “In Bloom”, das von Chris Whited (BODYSNATCHER) produziert wurde, war der 10. Mai 2024 via Seek & Strike. Nach “Worthless” gibt es mit “Wither” nun einen weiteren Video-Clip.

“Der Song wurde aus purer Wut auf eine Gesellschaft geschrieben, die Menschen als Aktivposten für ihre eigenen Ziele benutzt, ohne auf das wirkliche Leben der Menschen Rücksicht zu nehmen. Die Menschen werden in der Gosse zurückgelassen, mit dem Gefühl, dass ihr Leben nur dann nützlich ist, wenn es für andere profitabel ist, bis sie zusammen mit all den Erinnerungen und Beziehungen, die sie auf ihrem Weg gemacht haben, weggeworfen werden”, sagt die Band.

Toronto-based duo Siviyex are among our favorite modern projects. The band, consisting of multi-instrumentalists Castelvi and M.Gomes have just released their second lp, The Mirrax Sequence, on the freshly minted Nooma Records label. The new LP finds the duo exploring similar territory as their excellent 2020 debut, crossing through multiple genres with the greatest of ease. Similar to bands such as Seefeel and Bowery Electric before them, Siviyex meld electronic passages with gorgeous dream pop textures, uniquely adding elements of Italo disco and hard electro across the board. Each track on the LP is equally dreamy as it is danceable, with Castelvi’s ethereal vocals sitting on top of perfectly programmed percussion, textured guitars, and engaging synth passages. As such, The Mirrax Sequence is a truly enjoyable and eclectic collection of tracks that goes deeper into the psyche with every listen.

We had the chance to catch up briefly with the band about their journey thus far, dreams and nightmares, and the recording of the new LP, including some hints about some upcoming live dates. Enjoy!

Tell us a bit about how the band formed… 

We met at a Cryogenetic live P.A. when M.Gomes was producing music under the name Cryogenetic. We hit it off after talking for hours and started our musical journey together. We were both involved in various music projects and ended up with our first collaboration in a live electronic improv group called Keyop. After that we morphed through various projects and formulated the idea for Siviyex in 2018.

The Mirrax Sequence is your second record, and is certainly no sophomore slump. How was the LP recorded?  

Some of the album was made pre-pandemic, but unfortunately when the pandemic hit it disrupted the amount of time we were able to spend in the studio for a number of reasons. We managed to slowly chip away at the album as our process for creating songs can sometimes be a lengthy one. Feelings of isolation and uncertainty were definitely looming over our heads while creating many of these songs.

The combination of electro/italo and dream pop is certainly unique. I fully believe that the only way to be original these days is to mix genres in interesting ways like this, otherwise, you risk sounding like every other band before you. Not many dream pop bands, especially these days, flirt with electronics the way you do. How did you land on this sound? 

We both have a long history of involvement in electronic music and the band scene. We also both share a love for genres like shoegaze and dark electro. We wanted to have an electronic leaning project that involved guitars and playing instruments on stage. The project is equally influenced by groups like Drexciya and bands like My Bloody Valentine. We tried to fuse those two worlds together.

That said, what are some of your more unexpected influences? 

We are influenced by 80s electronic library music with composers such as Keith Mansfield, Harry Forbes, Nick Sargent, and Andy Clark to name a few. Film music libraries from the 80s such as Parry Music Ltd. out of Toronto released some very interesting thematic 80s electronic music that tends to be the backdrop to our daily lives. Films such as Boxing Helena, Pin, Jacob’s Ladder, and The Lawnmower Man are also big influences.

Quite a bit  of dream pop is less lyrically focused and more about sounds and syllables and textures. With that in mind, can you shed some light on what the LP is about, lyrically? 

Recurring night visions of various entities have always been one of the driving themes and inspiration behind our music. The surreal feeling of waking up and seeing an unknown figure standing in front of you or hovering above you is both terrifying and thought provoking. These mysterious visions and interactions go on to help shape the concepts around our music. Themes such as the subconscious, dreaming and alternate dimensions help us to create theoretical new realities that are often the basis for song concepts and lyrical ideas. Furthermore, our daily lives mixed with dreams and fiction experienced through specific films combine together to help create entities and places that can exist beyond our current state of being.

This is the first release by Nooma Records. How did you get hooked up with the label? 

We got a message from someone on our Soundcloud account asking about one of our songs that was played by Doppereffekt on their NTS radio show. He asked if it was released yet but the song was at the time unreleased. His name was Sary and after exchanging a few messages, this sparked the idea for him to start a label which would have The Mirrax Sequence as the first release. Working with Sary was a great experience from the very beginning as he was very enthusiastic about our music and the concepts surrounding it. Everything flowed from the creation of the artwork by Sary and the pressing of the vinyl. The record was mastered by Rude 66 who we admire greatly and the vinyl was pressed in the Netherlands at Record Industry.

What gear did you use on the LP? 

For percussion, we used a few different hardware drum machines including the 808, 707, DMX, and DDR-30. Most of the synth sounds are created using a Fender Jazzmaster with synth guitar modules and various effects pedals amped through a Fender Vibratone Cabinet and a Fender Twin Reverb. For bass guitar we used a Fender Precision. For the vox we created a vocal sound that combines a heavily effected natural voice with vocoder technology. We tend to put a lot of effects both new and vintage on everything.

It’s been a while since I’ve played in Toronto – how’s the music scene there these days? 

There are many great people doing interesting things in our community. We have many thriving scenes with lots of great musicians and DJs as well as some great promoters and venues doing top notch underground events on a weekly basis.

Any upcoming shows or touring plans of note?

We are playing this Thursday, May 16th, with Soft Set at a club in Toronto called The Baby G. We also have a show for World Goth Day on Saturday, May 18th, hosted by Darkness Forever at a club called Handlebar in Toronto. §

Die Blackened Death Metal-Band TURIN stellt ihr neues Album “The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing” mit einer weiteren Single vor: “Hopeless Solutions” mitsamt Video-Clip. Auch zu “Loss” haben die Briten ein Musikvideo gedreht, außerdem ist ENTERPRISE EARTH-Frontmann Travis Worland als Gast zu hören.

Den Albumtitel und den Hintergrund der Platte erläutert die Formation wie folgt:

“Es ist nicht nur ein Akronym für TURIN, sondern auch das Herzstück des Albumkonzepts. Wir alle fünf waren schon in Situationen, in denen wir so taten, als wäre alles in Ordnung oder als würde uns nichts stören, aber die Realität ist unversöhnlich, wenn man das tut. Es schadet uns. Es kann sich auf die Menschen um uns herum auswirken, und oft ändert sich die Realität der Situation erst, wenn wir sie ansprechen und nach Unterstützung suchen. In manchen Fällen auch um Vergebung. Wir haben diesen Song gegen Ende des COVID-Lockdowns in Großbritannien geschrieben, um unseren Sound neu zu erfinden und voranzutreiben, was auch immer die nächste Phase dieser Band sein würde. Die Thrash Metal-Band BATTLECREEK hat nach dem Video-Clip zu “Knockout In The First Round” mit “Granville´s Hammer” – mit Gastsänger Philly Byrne (GAMA BOMB) – ein animiertes Video ihres neuen Albums “Maze Of The Mind” als Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Was ich oft vergesse: Wenn die Welt um einen herum immer härter und unerbittlicher zu werden scheint, ist selbst verhärten eine weitere Dosis Gift. Und schon ist der Teufelskreis in vollem Gange, Bitterkeit schleicht sich ins Leben ein, Tränen werden nicht geweint, der Körper scheint bei jeder Gelegenheit bersten zu wollen vor lauter Gefühlen, die da sind und negiert werden. Wie kann man da bestehen? Es waren PALLBEARER, die mich wieder an das obige, von Andreij Tarkowskij in betörende Bilder gegossene Prinzip erinnert haben. Denn mit „Mind Burns Alive“ leben sie Stärke durch Verletzlichkeit.

Ein Frontalangriff auf die Gefühlswelt: PALLBEARERs fünftes Album „Mind Burns Alive“ ist selbstbewusst in Melancholie und Aggression.
Hey, mir egal, dass das klingt wie ein schlimmes Klischee. PALLBEARER, die mit dem guten, aber nicht überragenden „Forgotten Days“ nach dem ergreifenden Doom Metal-Melodram „Heartless“ ein wenig vom Weg abgekommen sind, zielen jetzt wieder auf die Gefühlsebene ab. Etwas, das ihnen sowieso immer am besten stand. Mit knackigen Riffs und den kurzen Songs des 2020er Albums blieben PALLBEARER etwas blass, ihre Stärke, die Melancholie war zu sehr vergraben. Deshalb wirkt die vergleichsweise leise Seite, die das Quartett aus Arkansas auf „Mind Burns Alive“ zeigt, umso offensiver. Was wirkt wie ein Gegensatz, ist purer Mut.

Unter den sechs Songs ist kein Hit, schon gar kein beherzter Metalsong wie „Thorns“ oder „The Quicksand Of Existing“, aber Material, das PALLBEARER nahbar sein lässt. „Where The Light Fades“ beginnt sehr leise, unverzerrte Gitarren und Brett Campbells beinahe brüchige Stimme werden präsenter, aus Schmerz wird Stolz, wenn die Rhythmussektion hinzukommt, und das Stück arbeitet sich langsam, aber sicher hin zu einer Klimax. „Signals“ schlägt in dieselbe Kerbe, wirkt ein wenig balladesk, ist aber wieder so selbstbewusst melancholisch, dass es wirkt wie eine zärtliche Umarmung, gerade wegen des fast schon erlösenden Finales, das mit einem Hauch ANATHEMA-Flair (denke „Judgement“), außerordentlich berührend geraten ist.

PALLBEARER loten die Extreme aus: „Mind Burns Alive“ geht unter die Haut – egal ob laut oder leise.
Die Riffs im Titelsong sind im Gegensatz dazu voluminös und wuchtig, in der Strophe wird es wieder leise und intim, und am Ende melodiös, wuchtig und feierlich. Wenn PALLBEARER über eine Selbstauflösung singen, tun sie es mit beachtlicher Präsenz. Dieser Kontrast wirkt auch im zehnminütigen „Endless Place“, das wie eine Reise durch Isolation, schwermütig beginnt, in einen bedrückenden Abgrund führt, den man nur übersteht, weil ein guter Freund dabei ist. Ein wenig lichten sich die Wolken im spannungsgeladenen Finale mit schönem Saxophoneinsatz und simplen, aber gut in Szene gesetzten Leadgitarren. Heavier wird es nur noch mit dem abschließenden „With Disease“ – ein bitteres, überraschend brachiales Finale für ein subtiles Album, wie der Blick in ein abyssales Nichts.

Zärtlich und abgründig zugleich zeigen PALLBEARER auf „Mind Burns Alive“, das, was sie am besten können: Sie berühren mit ihren Songs, gehen in die Tiefe und liefern das, was „Heartless“ angedeutet hat: Große Momente, ohne im Pathos zu ertrinken. Das gelingt auch, weil die Musiker ihre Egos zurückfahren und als Einheit agieren, um ihre Ideen vollumfänglich zur Geltung bringen. Das Riffing mag nicht so prägnant sein, wie auf früheren Alben, aber was PALLBEARER daraus machen, ist stellenweise gewaltig. Einer sticht dennoch heraus: Brett Campells Stimme ist mittlerweile sehr sicher und versiert, fern davon, weinerlich zu wirken.

Ein Lehrstück in Sachen emotionaler Musik: Auf „Mind Burns Alive“ zeigen PALLBEARER, was sie am besten können.
Und doch ist es Bassist Joseph Rowland, der mit dem leisen „Daybreak“ am allermeisten aus „Mind Burns Alive“ herausholt. PALLBEARER wenden hier mehr als nur eine ähnliche Formel wie mit „Where The Light Fades“ an, hier transformieren sie Schmerz in pure Anmut. Dieser Song, diese Heaviness in der zweiten Hälfte ist so verdammt gut, dass es mir wieder völlig egal ist, dass ich hier erneut ein Klischee bediene. PALLBEARER waren nie nahbarer, nie schöner, nie besser als in diesen sieben Minuten.

Doch auch über die gesamte Spieldauer von 50 Minuten leisten sich PALLBEARER so gut wie keine Schwächen. Sie sind ganz sie selbst, nicht zuletzt, weil „Mind Burns Alive“ ein selbstproduziertes Werk ist. Selbstbewusst gehen sie einen ähnlichen, nicht ganz so transformativen Weg, wie ihn 40 WATT SUN mit „Wider Than The Sky“ betreten haben. Mit einigen der besten Songs ihrer Karriere wird „Mind Burns Alive“ ein Album wie aus einem Guss, das sich wandelt, je öfter man es hört, das wächst, mal tröstlich und mal bedrückend ist. Eines, das aus dem Herzen kommt und zu Herzen geht, weil PALLBEARER begriffen haben, dass es die vermeintliche Schwäche ist, die stark werden lässt und dazu inspiriert, Verletzlichkeit zuzulassen. Getreu Tarkowskij sehen PALLBEARER und schauen nicht nur. Ihr bisher bestes Album? Vielleicht, oder sogar wahrscheinlich. Auf jeden Fall ganz, ganz großes Kino.

PINDHAR has set a new standard in ethereal electronica, infusing it with a rare human touch. Drawing inspiration from Pindar, the ancient Greek poet known for his explorations of parallel universes, the Milan-based duo was founded in 2019 by Cecilia Miradoli and Max Tarenzi. Their sound is rich with velvety echoes reminiscent of The Cure and early 4AD, blending the dreamy allure of dream pop with warm electronic elements, steering clear of any traces of cold detachment.

What sets PINDHAR apart is the exceptional quality of their songs. Their work nods to the likes of Massive Attack, Portishead, Beach House, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, and Circuit des Yeux, creating a sound that is both familiar and uniquely enchanting.

Murderers Of A Dying God  is a hard-hitting song that channels the scream of planet Earth, condemning the arrogance of humanity as it brings about destruction. It paints a bleak picture for other living beings, highlighting a world with no sanctuary, only cages, sorrow, and death.

Taking a more forgiving look at our nature, Humans reveals that, in the end, we’re just humans who’ve gone too far in the name of some god, not realizing we too shall fade away like flowers.

Inspired by Inio Asano’s seinen manga, Solanin captures the stark reality and dystopia of a big city, highlighting its cruelty and loneliness. It paints a picture of inhabitants as raindrops in a storm, lost and isolated amidst the chaos.

Imagine a world caught in perpetual frost, where time stands still and echoes of voices and colors from a long-lost past still whisper. Frozen Roses captures the essence of young lives trapped without a clear future, like roses frozen in ice, their fragrance forever locked in an uncertain destiny.

In the haunting Abysses, we ponder if every dark thought and every wound we inflict on one another could be healed by exchanging souls, even for just a single day. It’s a contemplation on the depths of empathy and the transformative power of truly understanding another’s pain.

Finally, At The Gates Of Dawn is a poignant tribute to a departed friend, a call to those who are no longer with us. It seeks to exorcise the lingering sense of absence, transforming it into a meditation on the profound meaning of life, and the echoes of those we’ve lost that continue to shape our existence.

In 2020, amidst the global lockdown, Pindhar recorded their first album, Parallel. The legendary Howie B contributed remotely to its production, and in 2021, it found its home with the English label Fruits de Mer Records. Their journey continued with tours across Italy and Europe, accompanied by drummer Alessandro Baris.

By the summer of 2023, Pindhar paused in Bristol to complete recordings for their new album at Riverside Studio in Bath. Collaborating intensely with Bruno Ellingham, known for his work with Massive Attack, Unkle, Portishead, Everything But the Girl, and New Order, they forged a powerful creative partnership.

During this period, James Johnston—painter and musician, founder of Gallon Drunk, and collaborator with Nick Cave and PJ Harvey—graciously provided the image of one of his paintings, Lake House, for the cover of A Sparkle on the Dark Water.

Die Thrash Metal-Band ANVIL hat eine neue Single geteilt: “Truth Is Dying” gibt es auf allen gängigen Plattformen im Stream. Entnommen ist das Stück dem 20. Album “One And Only”, das laut Frontmann Lips Kudlow auf bewährte Qualitäten setzen soll:

„Wir sind unserem alten Stil so ähnlich wie seit Jahren nicht mehr. Wir haben alle unsere moderneren Aspekte fallengelassen, insbesondere die 90er-Jahre-Version von Anvil. Es gibt keine sexuellen Themen und keine Thrash-Speed-Songs wie auf früheren Alben.”

Zur ersten Single “Feed Your Fantasy” gibt es sogar ein Musikvideo bei YouTube. Produziert haben den Song wie das Album Martin ‘Mattes’ Pfeiffer und Jörg Uken. Die Platte erscheint am 28. Juni 2024 via AFM Records.

Die italienische Doom-Band DI’AUL hat für 7. Juni 2024 eine neue EP mit dem Titel “II” angekündigt. Die beiden darauf enthaltenen Songs sollen die Wartezeit auf das Album “EvAAvE” verkürzen, das für Ende 2024 geplant ist.

Zum Material äußert sich die Formation:

“Dies ist der erste Teil eines umfassenderen Werks, dessen Leitmotiv sich ganz um das Weibliche und das vom Geschlecht losgelöste „Weibliche“ dreht: von der Misshandlung bis zur Erlösung, von der Beziehung zur Familie bis zur Gesellschaft im Allgemeinen. Denn in der tiefsten Natur des Menschen ist das „Weibliche“ der wichtigste Teil in jedem von uns, der das in sich birgt, was Garcia Lorca ‘Duende’ nannte. Die meisten Texte sind also weitgehend von der Poesie von Sylvia Plath, Amelia Rosselli und Virginia Woolf inspiriert.“

Aufgenommen und gemischt hat “EP II” Enrico Baraldi, das Mastering übernahm Esben Willems. “EP II” erscheint via MooDDoom Records. Die erste Single “Azazel” kann man sich in Bild und Ton bei YouTube ansehen.

Montreal-based musician and producer Automelodi (aka Xavier Paradis) has just released a new single, titled “Cavallo,” ahead of his first European tour in five years. The digital single is the first taste of new music since 2019’s excellent Mirages Au Futur Verre​-​brisé LP and is available on Bandcamp today. “Cavallo” is a bona-fide big-beat synth pop masterpiece, chock full of massive hooks, icy synths, throbbing percussion, and passionate French vocals. Paradis pushes his studio wizardry to the extreme once more, with interesting and engaging countermelodies, string pads, and synth squeals weaving in and out of the track. For those unfamiliar with Automelodi on the whole, fans of mid-period Depeche Mode, Quartet-era Ultravox, Dead Or Alive, and the darker side of Italo disco will find much to love, but even then, Automelodi’s immense talents and command of his craft far outshine mere genre trappings and comparisons. In a sea of excellent singles over the years, “Cavallo” is one of Automelodi’s best efforts yet, and will be sure to be a dance floor bar burner in no time at all…

RIOT V veröffentlichten ihr neues Album später als angekündigt: “Mean Streets” erschien am 10. Mai 2024. Ursprünglich sollte das Album ab 16. Februar erhältlich sein, dieser Termin wurde nun um zwei Monate verschoben. Zum Release teilte die Band als Entschädigung ein Musikvideo zum Titeltrack.

Zuvor haben RIOT V auch ein Video zu “Love Beyond The Grave” online gestellt.

Anfang Dezember präsentierten RIOT V  die erste Single “High Noon” mit einem Lyric-Video bei YouTube, es folgte ein Video zu “Feel The Fire”. 

Im Mai stellen RIOT V ihre neuen Songs dann auch live vor, als Support wurden TAILGUNNER bestätigt.

“Mean Streets” entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit Produzent Bruno Ravel. Das Mastering übernahm Bart Gabriel, das Artwork gestaltete Gyula Havancsáks.

Bassist Donnie Van Stavern erklärt zur Platte:

“Wir freuen uns riesig, das mittlerweile 17. RIOT-Album, »Mean Streets«, über das Toplabel Atomic Fire Records veröffentlichen zu können! Mit dieser Scheibe haben wir uns etwas zurück zu unseren Wurzeln begeben: So finden sich einige Hardrocker, aber natürlich auch zahlreiche Power-Metal-Songs auf der Platte wieder. Als ich den ersten Vorabtrack, ‘High Noon’, den es auch in Form eines Lyricvideo zu sehen und zu hören gibt, schrieb, war ich gedanklich gänzlich bei Mark Reale, der ein großer Westernfan war und ebenfalls Songs über dieselbe Thematik geschrieben hat [u.a. ‘Restless Breed’/’Gunfighter’]. The 2024 edition of Wave Gotik Treffen, is about to kick off this week! Once again, the sprawling festival runs from Friday, May 17th, until Monday, May 20th, in venues spread across the entire city of Leipzig.

This year’s edition of the world’s largest Gothic festival has something for every taste, ranging from straight-up post-punk, gothic rock, darkwave, synthpop, minimal, and industrial. We have thoroughly reviewed the schedule and venue itineraries and compiled a list of bands and artists we suggest you see during your visit to the festival this coming weekend.

We recommend heading to Felsenkeller on Friday night and catching the mixed lineup of darkwave and post-punk with Echoberyl, Dancing Plague, Kontravoid, Haunt Me, and Rendez-Vous. For a mix of Batcave, old-school, goth, and classic post-punk, head over to Täubchenthal for The Cemetary Girlz, Principe Valiente, The Rose Of Avalanche, and Theatre Of Hate. And there is also the option for Andi Sex Gang and Miranda Sex Garden at Schauspielhaus.

Afterward, head to Agra Halle for Ladytron’s special set for the midnight special at 1 am.

Saturday sees Haus Leipzig showcasing an eclectic mix of top-notch synth and minimal synth acts with Martial Canterel, Position Parallele, Automelodi, Xeno & Oaklander, and French legends Martin Dupont. For those looking for alternatives, head over to Felsenkeller for a set by Finish Gothic Rock legends Two Witches. And Täubchenthal is the place to be for old-school Batcave and Deathrock, and sound, featuring The Bellwether Syndicate, Ausgang, Tragic Black, and the legendary Sex Gang Children.

Sunday presents a myriad of choices, making it difficult to decide where to go. If you prefer to stay in one place, Volkspalast offers a solid lineup with The Foreign Resort, Klez.e, Agent Side Grinder, The Secret French Postcards, A Projection, Nürnberg, and Soviet Soviet. For those looking for a more dance-driven and synth-heavy evening, Stadtbad features performances by Years Of Denial, SDH (Semiotics Department of Heteronyms), Sierra, Public Memory, and Sextile. Don’t miss the midnight special with Editors at Agra Halle, which also showcases The Beauty Of Gemina, The Danse Society, and Diva Destruction earlier in the evening. Alternatively, Moritzbastei hosts darkwave act Neila Invo, Schauspielhaus presents Swedish synth-pop artist Karin Park, as well as Bon Harris, and Spiritual Front. And for industrial and techno fans, Täubchenthal offers Orphx and Esplendor Geometrico.

Monday, the final day of the festival, offers an easier choice for closing out your Wave Gotik Treffen experience. You can head to Agra to catch Vive La Fete’s energetic set. But you can also stay put at Haus Leipzig, which features a lineup of Lament, Topographies, Social Station, and The Slow Show, catering to fans of synth and post-punk. For those who prefer a more intense, industrial vibe, Kollaps will be performing at Volkspalast Kantine.

Lastly, Friday through Sunday, if you want to dance after the concerts, we highly recommend the When We Were Young party at Täubchenthal.

Das WISDOM TOOTH FESTIVAL geht 2024 in eine neue Runde: Gefeiert wird am 12. und 13. Juli 2023 am “Wildbachstadion” Hochstein in 86657 Bissingen. Tickets gibt es ab sofort zum Preis von 82,-€ über den offiziellen Festival-Shop im Vorverkauf. Tagestickets schlagen mit je 55,-€ zu Buche.

Im Februar veranstalteten die Organisatoren einen Bandcontest für lokale Künstler:innen; Preis war ein Eröffnungsslot auf der Mainstage des Festivals. Letztendlich für sich entscheiden konnten diesen Wettbewerb INTERSTELLAR DUST, die nun auf dem WISDOM TOOTH FESTIVAL 2024 auftreten dürfen.

FIDDLER’S GREEN und EQUILIBRIUM führen das Line-up des WISDOM TOOTH FESTIVALS 2024 an
Zuvor wurden ENSLAVE THE CHAIN für das Festival bestätigt. Außerdem spielen FIDDLER’S GREEN, die wie EQUILIBRIUM ganz oben auf dem Billing Platz nehmen. Letztere hat das Open Air Anfang Dezember als ersten Headliner bestätigt. EQUILIBRIUM werden 2024 zum ersten Mal auf dem Festival zu Gast sein. Außerdem sind HIVE LEADER, SCHATTENMANN, THE PRIVATEER, DIEVERSITY sowie SOUL DEMISE mit dabei.

Schon seit Juli im Lineup sind INFECTED RAIN, die eigentlich schon für 2023 vorgesehen waren, aber aufgrund von terminlichen Überschneidungen letztlich absagen mussten. Weiterhin mit dabei sind TROLLFAUST, STONES OF JORDAN, NITROGEN sowie FRAGMENTATION.

Straight out of NEPA, aggro-punk duo Malice Machine has unleashed a brand new album, Act of Self-Destruction. Masterminds Syn and Julie-X weave together a sinister assembly of synths, throbbing bass, methodical drums, and razor-edged, furious vocals.

As with their previous releases, Act of Self-Destruction remains lyrically bleak, dark, and foreboding. Tracks like Delete Me offer an inward-looking perspective on feeling useless or dejected, while others such as Hyena criticize society and its leaders for perpetuating a destabilized world. The songs on Act of Self-Destruction explore the darkest parts of the human psyche and the world around us.

The album introduces Malice Machine’s original concept of “aggro-punk,” fusing the harsh electronic synth, bass, and drum assault of aggrotech with the rebellious, raw energy and directness of punk. Their aggressive electronic beats, harsh vocals, and dark, dystopian themes blend elements of EBM (Electronic Body Music), harsh electro, and darkwave.

Act of Self-Destruction features pounding basslines, distorted synths, and intense, shouted lyrics that explore rebellion, technological dystopia, and inner turmoil. Their lyrics delve into the darker aspects of human existence, examining societal control, personal demons, and the impact of technology on humanity. With this collection, it’s evident that Malice Machine is broadcasting their relentless message to the chaos of their wicked musical realm. Through this album, the band has discovered and embraced its true identity.

Die Post-Black Metal-Band CHROME WAVES hat mit “Lost Horizon Live 1/5/2024” ein neues Live-Album angekündigt. Es ist nach vier Studioalben das erste Live-Album der US-Amerikaner aus Chicago und wird am 7. Juni 2024 via Disorder Recordings erscheinen. Vorab gibt es nach dem Opener “When Night Falls” nun auch den Song “Wind Blown” zu hören.

“Ich bin seit meiner Kindheit ein Fan von Live-Alben, von der rohen Punk-Attitüde der frühen Bootlegs von NIRVANA bis zur bezaubernden Atmosphäre von EMPERORs “Emperial Live Ceremony”, und ich will uns keineswegs vergleichen, aber ich denke, dass CHROME WAVES irgendwo zwischen diesen beiden liegt. “Lost Horizon” war meine erste Chance, die Produktion einer Live-Performance zu beaufsichtigen, und das Ergebnis übertrifft meine Erwartungen”, sagt Gitarrist Jeff Wilson, der das Album auch gemixt und gemastert hat.
