Robert Alfons, the enigmatic mastermind of TR/ST, returns with another shadowy and compelling modern synthpop single. Titled “Dark Day,” this latest release offers a glimpse of his forthcoming album, “Performance,” slated for release on September 13 via Dais Records. In tandem with this announcement, Alfons has revealed plans for his autumn European tour.

Emerging onto the scene in 2010, Alfons has carved out a niche with his brooding blend of elegant electronic pop imbued with a dark, seductive allure. Dark Day is a solemn dirge, with hushed tones and discordant synths crafting an unsettling hypnagogic atmosphere before an explosive hook ignites the track. His music is a noir film in sound, constantly playing a game of shadows and light.

“I think there’s something in the song about the flashes that come to you when you try to fall asleep, flashes that show you where you have unfinished business,” Alfons muses.

TR/ST’s forthcoming album Performance takes its name from a friend’s offhand remark about Alfons’ inherently performative demeanor. The music oscillates between beauty and bitterness, anthem and anguish, capturing the grandeur of melancholia. This album chronicles emotional turmoil, marked by guilt, ghosts, and unresolved tensions.

Recorded in the sprawling, light-polluted labyrinth of Los Angeles, Performance simmers with themes of dread, lust, reckoning, and abandonment. Co-produced with the multifaceted Nightfeelings, the album achieves a smoky, dense atmosphere with eerie synths, profound bass, and Alfons’ bruised, crooning vocals.

“It was such a pleasure working with Cecile Believe and Nightfeelings on production for this track,” Alfons admits.

Performance stands as a world unto itself—persuasive, immersive, and intoxicating. It hovers at the thin line between stirring and disturbing. Alfons’ voice, the anchor in the chaos, sings a collage of impressions and confessions with a blurred, stream-of-consciousness logic. He stands as both observer and instigator, performer and playwright, finding freedom on the stage and in the shadows of the night. His presence is a paradox, a mixture of poise and frenzy, delivering an experience that pulls you into its dark, alluring grip. The album’s allure lies in its ability to be both a refuge and a revelation, a place where Alfons’ haunting vocals guide you through a maze of emotions and electric beats.

Am 2. August 2024 erschien das neue BLUES PILLS-Album “Birthady” via Throwdown Entertainment/BMG. Mit “Bad Choices” haben BLUES PILLS nun einem weiteren Video-Clip daraus veröffentlicht.

Im Juni teilte die Band den Track “Top Of The Sky“:

“Ich wurde inspiriert von einer Dokumentation über einen Influencer in China, der auf Gebäude klettert. Er kletterte auf einen Wolkenkratzer, stürzte ab und starb beim Streaming. Das brachte mich zum Nachdenken über die Zeit, in der wir leben, in der Menschen auf der Jagd nach Aufmerksamkeit und Likes in den sozialen Medien bereit sind, so hoch zu klettern, um online Anschluss und Anerkennung zu finden”, erklärt Gitarrist Zack Anderson.

Mit “Don’t You Love It” hat die Band im April 2024 ein weiteres Video veröffentlicht. Beim Song geht es darum, im Hier und Jetzt zu leben und Spaß zu haben.

Auch zum Titelsong haben die Schweden einen Video-Clip veröffentlicht: “Birthday”-Video bei YouTube.  Zum Record Store Days wurde die Single “Birthday” am 20. April in limitierter 12”-Vinyl-Auflage veröffentlicht.

Die Songs entstanden unter “anderen Umständen”, die Band berichtet:

“Für dieses Album haben wir alle Grenzen und Erwartungen hinter uns gelassen, und nur Musik geschreiben, die wir wirklich lieben. Wir wollten das unverfälschte und authentische Gefühl, das wir haben, wenn wir live spielen, auf einem Album einfangen. Gleichzeitig sollte es natürlich das beste Album werden, das wir je gemacht haben. Elin war während der Aufnahmen schwanger. Mehr Rock’n’Roll geht nicht, als gleichzeitig menschliches Leben und Musik zu erschaffen. “

Sängerin Elin ergänzt:

“Ich muss es für mich selbst und für andere Frauen tun. Wir dürfen unsere eigenen Leidenschaften nicht aufgeben,wenn wir Mutter geworden sind. Es wird dauern, bis ich die beiden Welten, die ich liebe, verbinden kann. Aber meinem Sohn Loui wird es gut tun, andere Kulturen, Länder und Musik kennenzulernen. Ich finde es wichtig, ich ihm das zu ermöglichen.”

“Birthday” ist das vierte BLUES PILLS-Album und entstand mit diesem Line-up: Elin Larsson (Vocals), Zack Anderson (Gitarre), André Kvarnström (Drums) und Kristoffer Schander (Bass).

Mit “Somood” wird am 8. August 2024 das neue Album der Melodic Death Metal-Band OSTORATON erscheinen. Es ist nach “Rehla” (2020) das zweite Album der Band aus Saudi-Arabien und sei eine Reise durch das Leben, auf der Themen wie menschliche Erfahrungen, gesellschaftliche Ansichten und historische Reflexionen erforscht werden. Das Album versuche, die Negativität und die Positivität des Lebens zu trennen und strebe nach Ruhe und Frieden inmitten von Hindernissen und Erfolgen.

Los Angeles’ multifaceted DJ, performer, and musician Sayaka Nono has unveiled her new single, Anything Can Be Broken, which arrives like a harbinger of a storm, chilling and unrelenting. The track is a masterful blend of minimal synth and icy coldwave, invoking the spirits of Malaria!, Kas Product, Hard Corps, and In Trance 95. With its authentic 80s vibe, the song envelops you in a dark, rhythmic embrace, characterized by stark, minimalist beats and haunting melodies that echo the sound of treasured tracks culled from out-of-print vinyl releases that demand reissue.

“I originally wrote this song in 2015 with German lyrics, but I decided to change them back to English, and it made even less sense than before, which is perfect,” Nono reflects. “It feels strange to share it so many years later, but it’s taken on a different form, especially after performing it live over the last year and three quarters. This is also the only other song I did not produce myself, and I’m okay with that. This version is much more danceable and less sinister than the original.”

The accompanying video, shot by the LA River and in Nono’s backyard by Alexander Yllescas, was directed by Sayaka Nono. It features a troupe of characters from the Los Angeles underground music scene, showcasing their dance moves with a flair that transcends the typical goth shuffle. Presented in a grainy VHS style, the video captures flickering shadows and fleeting figures, creating an eerie, nostalgic ambiance. The raw, retro visuals perfectly complement the haunting minimal synth and coldwave sound, creating a perfect vision for a sound that evokes the spirit of the underground 80s music scene, while the moody atmosphere and unpolished aesthetics invite you into a world where the past and present merge into a dark, hypnotic dance.

No Future, the enigmatic outfit hailing from the sun-bleached sprawl of Tucson, Arizona, returns with their latest single, “Brief History,” a track that sees post-punk’s brooding heart paired with a kaleidoscopic fusion of pop, goth, and synth-laden textures. The bright, crystalline guitars and soaring vocal melodies create an irresistibly catchy sound, while the synths evoke the cult resonance of Electronic Circus’s “Direct Lines. NAILS-Gitarrist und Sänger Todd Jones hat neue Bandmitgieder um sich geschart und ein neues Album angekündigt: “Every Bridge Burning”, so lautet der Titel des vierten Studioalbums der Grindcore-Band, erscheint am 30. August 2024.

Reinhören kann man nun auch in den dritten Vorab-Song “Lacking The Ability To Process Empathy” bei YouTube und Streamingdiensten.

Zur aktuellen Besetzung gehören neben Todd Jones Drummer Carlos Cruz (WARBRINGER), Bassist Andrew Solis (DESPISE YOU, APPARITION) und Gitarrist Shelby Lermo (ULTHAR).

Mit “Give Me The Painkiller” haben NAILS im Juli die zweite Single geteilt. Als ersten Vorab-Song stellte  die Band im Juni ‘Imposing Will’ vor.

Mit “The Lurking Shadow of Death” wird am 27. September 2024 via Immortal Frost Productions das neue Album der Black Metal-Band ARS VENEFICIUM erscheinen. Es ist nach “The Reign of the Infernal King” (2016) und “Usurpation of the Seven” (2020) das dritte Album des belgischen Duos, welches aus Ronarg und Sänger Surtur besteht. Neulich im Plattenladen lief diese Platte und ließ mich sogleich aufhorchen. Das Lied, das ich hörte war wie ein Ting sämtlicher Richtungen des Shoegaze. My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive und Cigarettes After Sex kamen mir als erste Inspiration sofort in den Sinn. “Everyone Out“ hieß das Stück, wie ich auf Nachfrage erfuhr. Von Diiv, wurde dann als Info noch nachgeworfen. „Was, die haben ein neues Album draußen? Zeig her!“

Tatsache, die New Yorker haben ihr 4. Studioalbum vorgelegt und ihr Name (bis 2012 DIVE) ist Programm. Man kann wunderbar in die Musik eintauchen. Ohne Label im Hintergrund wurde das Geld für die Produktion erstmal vorgestreckt und wenn wohl auch Streit, politische Differenzen und Krisengespräche viel Energie abgezweigt haben und den Verlust langer Wegbegleiter zur Folge hatten, kann sich das Ergebnis wirklich sehen lassen.

Die Platte ist nicht euphorisch, klingt aber auch nicht total düster. Die Band hat sich von den Grenzen befreit, die dem Genre oft auferlegt bzw. zugesprochen werden. Schon der Albumtitel zeugt von Humor, wenn auch mit einer leicht zynischen Note. Hier muss ich mir nichts schön trinken, sondern komme von Anfang an voll auf meine Kosten. Anders als bei „Cigarettes After Sex“, deren Lieder nach wiederholtem Hören oft eintönig und austauschbar wirken, finden sich hier abwechslungsreiche Nuancen und Instrumentierungen, die z.B. den Vergleich mit Alben von Slowdive nicht scheuen müssen. Ein idealer Soundtrack auf Wanderungen durch belebte Straßen aber auch auf Spaziergängen an Wiesen und Feldern entlang. Klagende, sauber produzierte Gitarren, sanfter Gesang und im Ohr bleibende Melodien lassen den Hörer der Musik schnell näher kommen und gleich dem Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer, wie ihn Caspar David Friedrich zeichnete, blickt bzw. hört man ruhig in die Weite hinein. Der Gesang scheint von weit her das Ohr zu erreichen, das die Gitarren und das Schlagzeug schon längst umspielen. Dem Album wohnt eine Selbstvergessenheit inne, von der man sich gerne anstecken lässt. Nach eingängiger Recherche behaupte ich, dies ist das erste Album auf dem alle vier Musiker Lieder beigesteuert haben und doch klingt es sehr homogen wie aus einem Guss. Nun muss es draußen nur noch wieder kälter werden, dann ist die Stimmung vollkommen. (M.W.)

“Wir lieben HOLE,  ‘Violet’ wollten gleich mehrere von uns gerne covern. Courtney Love von HOLE war schon immer mutig und kompromisslos. Der Text deutet Gewalt und die sexuelle Ausbeutung einer Person unter dem Deckmantel der Romantik an. In diesem Song macht sie sich ihre Frustrationen zunutze und findet einen Weg, die Kontrolle zu übernehmen und agiert anschließend mit roher Gewalt. Mit “Violet” können sich viele identifizieren,  der Track, der Text und das Arrangement sind verdammt brillant und inspirierend. Von dieser Energie wollen wir etwas für uns abzapfen.”

Manchester’s Reliquia has surfaced from the depths of the city’s underground music scene with their potent fusion of gothic rock, post-punk, darkwave, and metal. Co-founded by US-transplant Gregg Neville (Push Button Press, Golden Gardens) and lead guitarist Tobias Gray (The Machinist), the band’s lineup is completed by George Kal on guitars, Andy Lindley on bass, and Karim Nashar on drums. This quintet forges a unique sonic identity, drawing from the influences of The Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, and The Mission, while resonating with the heavy undertones of Katatonia, Paradise Lost, and My Dying Bride.

Today, Reliquia unveils their latest single, “Shallow,” a dark and brooding exploration of fractured relationships through a chilling lyrical narrative. The track delves into the decaying remnants of emotional bonds, rendered through unsettling imagery and haunting harmonies. It’s a gritty depiction of love on the precipice, a dismal dance of deception and despair.

Die Thrash / Death Metal-Band HERAKLEION hat mit “Necroverse” eine neue EP angekündigt. Es ist nach “Curse of Eternity” (2022) die zweite EP der US-Amerikaner aus New Orleans und thematisiert die morbide Neugier der Menschheit auf den Moment, in dem man in das Reich des Todes hinübergeht. Jeder Song berührt einen anderen Fall, der versucht, den Moment zu rationalisieren, in dem das Leben aufhört und die Reise durch das Reich des Todes beginnt.

“Necroverse” wurde von Pete deBoer (u.a. für BLOOD INCANTATION tätig) in den Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo produziert, wobei die Aufnahmen wurden mit einem API Legacy Plus, einer 24-Spur-Bandmaschine von Studer und einer ganzen Reihe von analogen Zusatzgeräten gemacht wurde.

“Wir wollten keinerlei digitale oder computergestützte Unterstützung verwenden”, erklärt Schlagzeuger Speed Wilson. “Es war wichtig, dass wir es so machen, wie es Bands früher gemacht haben: live, auf Band, ohne Klick.”

The loss of a friend strikes at the heart of our being, stirring a profound sense of grief and reflection. As we traverse the middle years of life, such a loss can catalyze a midlife crisis, forcing us to confront our own mortality and the fleeting nature of existence. In this profound moment, we realize that our time is finite, and the relationships we hold dear are precious and irreplaceable. This period of life is not just about reckoning with the end – but also about rediscovering the essence of living.

The latest single from Vancouver’s post-punk outfit ACTORS, spearheaded by Jason Corbett on vocals, Shannon Hemmett on synth, Kendall Wooding on bass, and Adam Fink on drums, is a powerful punch to the gut. Dead Inside, released through Artoffact Records, is a raw concoction of distortion, perfectly placed bass lines, electric guitars, and crashing cymbals. The track reverberates with the raw emotion of feeling numb and disconnected. It dives deep into quintessential human emotions, showcasing the band’s knack for translating personal pain into a visceral listening experience. Their ability to channel human affliction into music is evident, creating a track that hits hard both sonically and emotionally,

Dead Inside paints a picture of an impending and unavoidable downfall, marked by malicious intent and inevitable ruin. Isolation and inner emptiness are palpable, with no escape from harsh reality. A faded photograph and a pixelated screen symbolize a loss of connection and control. The repeated refrain “dead on the inside” underscores the depth of emotional numbness and despair, emphasizing a bleak and desolate state of being.

“The recent loss of several friends and the realization of how finite our time is really had an effect on me over the past few months,
says Jason Corbett. “That dark and sometimes anxious emotion permeates my music with ACTORS. The new single just comes right out and says it.”

Death, while painful for the bereaved, can serve as a stark reminder to live authentically, embrace vulnerability, and cherish each moment. It’s a call to deepen our connections, to live fully in the present, and to honor the memories of those we have lost by living our lives with greater intention and compassion.

The video showcases the band in a scene that pays homage to Bauhaus’s iconic appearance in the intro of the 1983 Tony Scott Vampire film, The Hunger.

Es ist nach “Vanished Cadavers” (2020) und “Engrossed in Decay” (2022) das dritte Album der US-Amerikaner aus Illinois und wird am 8. November 2024 via Prosthetic Records erscheinen. “Catastrophic Reconfiguration” wurde mit einem Cover-Artwork von Julian Felipe Mora Ibañez ausgestattet. Die Aufnahme erfolgte gemeinsam mit Matthew Aguilar, während Greg Wilkinson (AUTOPSY) für Mix und Mastering verantwortlich zeichnete.

Labor Day weekend turns New York City into a gothic haven with the return of A Murder of Crows (AMOC) festival. AMOC 2024 promises a macabre cavalcade of gothic and post-punk music, drawing dark souls from all corners of the globe.

Inspired by his many trips to Leipzig’s legendary Wave Gotik Treffen, The Red Party’s Sean Templar founded A Murder of Crows (AMOC) in 2015. What began as a humble one-day event at Mercury Lounge, featuring a trio of bands and a quartet of DJs, quickly gained traction. By 2016, it had morphed into a two-day affair, steadily expanding its reach. Fast forward to 2021, the festival embraced the digital age with a 12-hour live stream on Twitch, sharing its gothic grandeur with a global audience. Not one to rest on its laurels, AMOC added an opening party in 2023, cementing its reputation as a must-attend event for darkwave devotees.

This year’s lineup is set to enchant and enthrall, ensuring the city pulses with the beat of black-clad hearts and echoing guitars, welcoming enthusiasts for a weekend drenched in dark elegance and moody melodies.

The festivities kick off on August 29 at TV Eye in Ridgewood. Attendees will be treated to a live performance by Boston/NYC outfit The Hunt. The night will also feature fifteen DJs from various cities.

Die Thrash Metal-Band FLOTSAM AND JETSAM präsentiert einen weiteren Song ihres 15. Studioalbums “I Am The Weapon” und hat nun auch ein Video zu “A New Kind Of Hero” veröffentlicht.

Der Song ist inzwischen der vierte Vorab-Song und folgt auf “Burned My Bridges”. Anfang Juni teilten FLOTSAM AND JETSAM einen Clip zur Single “Primal” bei YouTube. Das Stück folgte auf das Lyric-Video zum Titeltrack bei YouTube.

Zur neuen Platte haben die US-Amerikaner Folgendes zu sagen:

„Wir freuen uns sehr auf das neue Album ‘I Am The Weapon’. Wir haben viel Mühe und Gedanken in die Musik gesteckt und können es kaum erwarten, unseren nächsten Metal-Angriff auf die Musik-Community loszulassen…“

AVANTASIA kündigen ihr mittlerweile zehntes Album an. „Here Be Dragons“ soll Anfang 2025 erscheinen. Um dies zu feiern wird die Symphonic-Rock/Metal-Band um Bandleader und Frontman Tobias Sammet auf eine ausgedehnte weltweite Arenen-Tour gehen.

Tobias Sammet sagt dazu: „Die Festivalsaison dieses Jahr war erst der Anfang einer neuen Ära für AVANTASIA, ein Appetithappen sozusagen. Denn die eigenen Shows auf unserer ‘Here Be Dragons’-Tour sind halt nochmal was ganz anderes. Wenn wir die Leute komplett in unsere phantastische Welt entführen und sie alles andere um sich herum vergessen können. Es wird ein Erlebnis, eine aufwendige Produktion mit Spezialeffekten, größer und besser als alles, was wir früher auf die Beine gestellt haben. Nicht zu vergessen, dass wir gerade an großartiger neuer Musik arbeiten, hymnisch und episch. Und ich bin überzeugt davon, dass diese Songs sich perfekt mit unseren Bandklassikern und vielleicht auch ein paar lange nicht gehörten Stücken in der Live-Setlist ergänzen werden.“

Even though it’s still early in the morning and many partied late into the night yesterday, a fairly long line has already formed in front of the Tanzbrunnen area. But when the gates open, it only takes a few minutes for us to find our spot in front of the stage. For me, being in the front row is a must for today’s opener on the Main Stage. After all, J:DEAD, one of my highlights of the day, is scheduled for the morning.

HUMAN IMPACT veröffentlichen ihr zweites Album: “Gone Dark” erscheint am 4. Oktober 2024 via Ipecac.

Nun kann man sich vorab auch einen Clip zu “Hold On” ansehen. Mit einem Video zu “Destroy To Rebuild” stellten HUMAN IMPACT im Juni den ersten Song der neuen Platte vor.

Zu HUMAN IMPACT gehören Chris Spencer (UNSANE), Jim Coleman (COP SHOOT COP), Eric Cooper (MADE OUT OF BABIES, BAD POWERS) und Jon Syverson (DAUGHTERS).

Spencer verspricht, dass das Zweitwerk heftiger als das selbstbetitelte Debüt ausfallen wird:

“Wir wolltenroher und aggressiver sein als die vorherigen Veröffentlichungen, wir wollten mehr von unserer Live-Atmosphäre einfangen. Diesmal hatten wir Zeit, ein komplettes, zusammenhängendes Album zu entwickeln, die Songs mit Zwischenstücken zu verbinden – so wie es bei einem Konzert ist. Mit ‘Gone Dark’ sind wir uns voll und ganz darüber im Klaren sind, wer wir als Band sind, daher ist das Album fokussierter.”

Das Team vom HEADBANGERS OPEN AIR hat die ersten Bands für das HOA 2025 angekündigt. Das 27. Gartenfest findet vom 24.-26.07.2025  wie gewohnt auf dem Festivalgelände in Brande/Hörnerkirchen statt.

Derweil bedankt sich das HOA-Team bei den Besuchern des jetzigen Festivals für die gute Stimmung, das tolle Feedback sowie die aufgeräumten Campingplätze. OPETH veröffentlichen ihr 14. Studioalbum, „The Last Will And Testament“ am 11. Oktober 2024. erscheinen wird! Als ersten Vorgeschmack präsentieren die Schweden nun die erste Single ‚§1‘ als Stream.

Im Februar 2025 sind OPETH auf Europatour, in Deutschland sind vier Konzerte angekündigt.  Wer „The Last Will And Testament“ jetzt vorbestellt, kann sich mit einem Code Tickets für die Tour reservieren, der allgemeine Vorverkauf startet am 9. August um 10 Uhr.

OPETH Sänger/Gitarrist Mikael Åkerfeldt warnt, dass man der neuen Platte vielleicht etwas Zeit geben sollte:

„Ich muss es einfach loswerden: Ich liebe dieses Album. Vielleicht bin ich sogar ein bisschen stolz? Natürlich enthält es einige altbekannte Zutaten, denn die meiste unserer Musik entstammt derselben Quelle. Es dürfte also keine Überraschung sein, dass die Platte nach OPETH klingt. Ich erstarre fast etwas in Ehrfurcht, wenn ich sehe, was wir mit „The Last Will And Testament“ geschaffen haben. Träume ich all das? In gewisser Art und Weise hängt alles auf dem Album irgendwie zusammen und auch musikalisch schimmert hier und da unser Können durch, hoffe ich. Aber was weiß ich schon? Ich neige dazu, das ‚Ungewöhnliche‘ jeglichem ‚Offensichtlichen‘ vorzuziehen, obgleich ich damit einer Minderheit anzugehören scheine, aber damit kann ich leben. Also, eine berechtigte Warnung vorab: Erwartet nicht, dass es sofort ‚klickt‘, aber falls doch, dann geht das selbstverständlich auch in Ordnung!“

„The Last Will And Testament“ ist ein Konzeptalbum über die Zeit nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg und erzählt die Geschichte eines wohlhabenden, konservativen Patriarchen, dessen letzter Wille einige Familiengeheimnisse zutage bringt. Die Songs spiegeln dabei die Geständnisse des Patriarchen wider, zeigen aber auch die Reaktionen seiner Zwillingskinder und eines an Polio erkrankten Mädchens, um das sich die Familie kümmert.

Åkerfeldt berichtet, wie das Album entstand:

„Dies ist die erste Scheibe, auf der Walt am Schlagzeug zu hören ist. Ihm bei seinen Aufnahmen zuzusehen und zuzuhören, war ein außergewöhnliches Erlebnis, weshalb ich mich einfach nur fragte: Wie kann ein Mensch derart gut spielen? Die Alteingesessenen unter uns, Mendez, Fred, Jocke und ich, nahmen unsere Teile fristgemäß auf und ich denke, dass wir ebenfalls gut abgeliefert haben, was sicherlich auch daran liegen mag, dass wir quasi nüchtern waren, wenn die roten Aufnahmelämpchen angingen. Wir sind eben Profis, wie ihr seht! Wir fühlten uns in den Rockfield Studios wirklich wohl, wir lieben sie! Stefan Boman kümmerte sich um die Aufnahmen [er hielt mehr oder weniger alles auf Band fest…] und den gesamten Mix. Miles Showell masterte die Platte anschließend in den Abbey Road Studios, was wir, Stefan und ich, ihm mit einem Curry in Covent Garden dankten. Travis Smith verlieh der Musik mit einem einmal mehr ureigenen Artwork das passende Gewand. Alles in allem hoffen wir, dass wir einen musikalischen Happen geschaffen haben, an dem ihr in der regnerischen Jahreszeit knabbern könnt. Danke für eure Zeit, fürs Lesen und fürs Zuhören. Dank euch können wir eine derart beachtliche Historie vorweisen. Für unsere Zukunft werde ich euch dann in der eigentlichen Zukunft danken. Geht das klar?“

OPETHs 14. Studioalbum wurde von Åkerfeldt geschrieben, während er für die Texte Klara Rönnqvist Fors (THE HEARD, ex-CRUCIFIED BARBARA) mit ins Boot holte. Aufgenommen wurde „The Last Will And Testament“ gemeinsam von Åkerfeldt und Stefan Boman, der mit Joe Jones und OPETH auch für die technische Umsetzung verantwortlich war. Dem Abmischprozess nahmen Boman, Åkerfeldt und die übrigen OPETH-Musiker sich in den Atlantis Studios sowie den Hammerthorpe Studios an. Die Streicherarrangements wurden von Åkerfeldt und Dave Stewart (EGG, KHAN) geschrieben, während Stewart auch deren Aufnahmen in den Londoner Angel Studios leitete.

Travis Smith gestaltete bereits zum elften Mal ein Cover für die Band. Dieses Mal schuf er ein schauriges Bild, das an Stanley Kubricks  „Overlook Hotel“-Fotografie erinnert.

 

Als Gäste sind Flötist und JETHRO-TULL-Frontmann Ian Anderson und  EUROPEs Joey Tempest zu hören. Åkerfeldts jüngste Tochter, Mirjam Åkerfeldt, schließt die Gästeliste mit ihrer Stimme auf ‚§1‘ ab.

Am 30. August 2024 erscheint “Victorious Death – Live In Latin America”, das erste Livealbum von DEMONICAL als CD und MC.  Wer den Mitschnitt auf Vinyl haben will, muss sich bis zum Herbst gedulden, die LP-Version ist ab 27. September 2024 erhältlich.

Die 14 Songs von “Victorious Death – Live In Latin America” wurden auf der DEMONICAL-Tour im September 2023 mitgeschnitten.

Reinhören kann man in die erste Single, zu “Sun Blackened (Live)” gibt es auch ein Video bei YouTube.
