In our perpetual waltz with time, we often find ourselves adrift in a sea of memories, elusive and cold, like shadows flickering in the twilight of consciousness. These moments, once vivid, now fade like the dying light of a distant star, yet they grip us with a haunting familiarity. The past, in its transitory nature, becomes a mirror, reflecting both the beauty and impermanence of our existence. We reach out, trying to hold onto what slips away, only to realize that the journey is not about clinging to what was, but about understanding the fluid nature of life itself—a continuous flow, forever changing, never stagnant.

Endless, the haunting new single from Los Angeles dark synth-pop outfit Sleek Teeth, prowls through the labyrinth of isolation, hunting for meaning in a world steeped in chaos. The beats and rhythms pulse with precision, slicing through the brooding fog that has long suffocated the underground scene. It’s a journey back in time, where moments freeze and fade, slipping just beyond reach. The past haunts with the cold, indifferent grip of memories that refuse to let go. The struggle against a dark, unrelenting tide leaves the listener adrift, knowing they’ll never fully grasp the end, only the endless uncertainty that shadows every step.

The video, directed by Adrian Stucker, stitches together a sun-soaked montage of SoCal life. You see a couple playing around at a seaside amusement park, their carefree moments captured against the backdrop of endless summer days. But just when you think you’ve got it figured out, flashes of a red mystery cut through the fun. It’s a strange ride, blending the ordinary with the inexplicable, reminding you that life’s full of odd wonders and mysteries that defy explanation. This clip leaves you pondering the hidden depths beneath the surface. Where does it all lead?

“We worked with director Adrian Stucker to create a story that takes an unpredictable path, where we start out in a place that feels familiar and end up somewhere completely unexpected,” says the band. “Most journeys in life don’t come with a map or a finish line, so it can be easy to feel lost or start questioning yourself along the way. This is an exploration of the rewards- and perils- of letting go of expectations and embracing uncertainty.”

Die Doom-Death / Heavy Metal-Band MOOSE CULT hat nach “Headless Cult” mit “Death Meditation” einen zweiten Track ihres kommenden Albums “Book of the Machines” veröffentlicht. Es ist nach “Moose Cult” (2023) das zweite Album der englischen und US-amerikanischen Band, die von Jon Higgs (MONSTERWORKS, BULL ELEPHANT, THŪN) ins Leben gerufen wurde. Weiterhin Teil des Teams sind Bassist Hugo Wilkinson (MONSTERWORKS, THŪN), Drummer James Knoerl (GARGOYL, THŪN) und Gitarrist Tommy Loose (SMOKESCREEN).

“Book of the Machines” ist stark von dem Roman “Erewhon” (Samuel Butler, 1872) inspiriert, der einen Abschnitt namens “Book of the Machines” enthält, in dem als eines der ersten Beispiele über Maschinenintelligenz und Selbstreplikation nachgedacht wird.

Die Blackened Death Metal-Band DREAMLESS VEIL hat einen Labeldeal bei Relapse Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen wird die neu gegründete Band rund um Dan Gargiulo (ARTIFICIAL BRAIN, Ex-REVOCATION), Dave Haley (PSYCROPTIC, RUINS, WEREWOLVES, THE AMENTA) und Mike Paparo (INTER ARMA, ARTIFICIAL BRAIN) mit “Every Limb Of The Flood” ihr neues und erstes Album veröffentlichen.

“Every Limb Of The Flood” sei ein düsteres Konzeptalbum, das den Weg von “Grief” nachzeichnet, einer Figur, die aus einer ausgiebigen Ausschweifung erwacht und versucht langsam zu verschwinden. Das Album wurde gemeinsam mit Brett Bamberger (REVOCATION) aufgenommen, von Gitarrist und Bassist Dan Gargiulo gemixt und von Colin Marston (GORGUTS, KRALLICE) gemastert.

Neue „abartige“ Geschichten vom Abgrund, makaber und düster hervorgebracht von EISREGEN auf ihrem mittlerweile 17. Studio-Album. „Abart“ macht da weiter, wo der „Grenzgänger“ Anfang 2023 aufgehört hat, und bringt 11 neue Stücke mit gewohnt unheimlichen und unheilvollen Geschichten, dargeboten mit Mastermind M.Roths
unverkennbaren Vocals. Es sind die innersten Abgründe, die EISREGEN immer wieder zu Tage tragen, die man selber nicht zu denken oder auszusprechen vermag. Aber es gibt z.B. bei vielen Menschen die Situation, wo man mit dem Protagonisten im Lied „Ich und mein Bolzenschussgerrät“ tauschen möchte. Darf und macht man aber nicht, geht aber hier…

Und so geht es in gewohnter Qualität durch das Album. Musikalisch gefällt es mir mal mehr, mal weniger, aber die Texte werten das Ganze nochmal auf. Muss man mögen, sicherlich, aber Fans wissen, was sie erwartet. Und für die Hardcore Fans gibt es dann auch noch ein Schmankerl. Einem der größten Bandhits der Thüringer wird ein Sequel spendiert, es gibt die „Die Rückkehr der Elektro Hexe“. Dazu gesellen sich die Songs „Elektro Baba Yaga“ und mit „1000 tote Nutten

Chasing the ghosts of a failed romance is like wandering through a fog-choked alley, searching for something you lost in the mist, knowing full well it’s gone. It’s a twisted dance with shadows that never solidify, always slipping through your fingers like smoke. The memories, blurred and bittersweet, pull you into their grip, promising warmth – but delivering only the cold bite of reality. You find yourself tracing old paths, revisiting the scenes of past passions, hoping to rekindle a fire that’s long since burned out. But the ghosts remain just that—phantoms of a love that once was, now only echoes in the corridors of your mind. It’s a futile chase, a film noir scene playing on a loop, where the ending never changes, and the heartbreak is always the same. The only thing left to do is to let the ghosts go, before they pull you under for good.

This is the impetus behind Falling In Love With A Ghost, the new single from Swiss-American post-punk duo Crying Vessel, who has returned from the void with a new sound, setting the stage for the full experience of their staggering twenty, count-em, twenty-new songs. Sepulchers: The Servant and Sepulchers: The Maiden reveal the duality of the band’s musical essence. Falling In Love With A Ghost is on the former.

The song sketches a haunting love affair with something intangible—a ghost, perhaps, that lingers just out of reach. The speaker is drawn to this ethereal presence, a love that feels achingly real yet remains ever elusive. The romance drags them into a nightmare of obsession, haunted by the specter wherever they go. Melancholy wraps around every line, with despair seeping through each word.

In the music video, Oberli crafts a chilling tale of two souls—one very much alive, the other a shadow, a whisper of what once was. The dancers twist and turn in a bittersweet ballet, their movements echoing a tragic love, where one partner might not even be there anymore, just a phantom of the past.

1349 haben nach “Ash of Ages” und “Shadow Point” mit dem Opener “The God Devourer” eine dritte Single ihres kommenden Albums “The Wolf and The King” veröffentlicht. Es ist das achte Album der Norweger und wurde mit einem Cover-Artwork von Jordan Barlow ausgestattet.

“Dies ist unser achtes Album, und das Artwork und die Texte sind voller Anspielungen auf diese Zahl der Unendlichkeit”, erklärt Sänger Ravn. “Man kann sich im Grunde auf die Suche machen, um im Artwork Hinweise auf die Zahl zu finden.”

In 1993, in the midst of the second wave`s heyday, when numerous classic albums saw the light of day and many a blaze ignited the northern sky, GEHENNA were brought forth in Stavanger, Norway`s fourth largest city. In the course of the same year their efforts resulted in their first and only demo Black Seared Heart which was released by the band on tape in very limited quantities. The demo comprises 7 songs of which 3 are instrumentals serving as intro and outros respectively. Although the demo reveals the members` at the time limited capabilites as musicians, it`s, by and large, a very enjoyable first recording with lasting qualities. The sound is leagues above the average demo production since Black Seared Heart was recorded in a studio. The moody songs – for the most part played in moderate tempo – are written in a way that reveals GEHENNA as talented songwriters even at this early stage. Notably, the keyboards, whose remarkable melodies would go on to become one of the band`s trademarks were already present on the demo. As an added bonus the rerelease of Black Seared Heart comes with an instrumental, a song recorded at the rehearsal-room and most importantly a studio recording-session that was aborted before completion that was supposed to result in the band`s first EP First Spell. The songs were completely new remastered by Patrick W. Engel at the Temple of Disharmony to ensure the best possible sound for this timeless Black Metal classic.

Angelo Repetto and Nicolas Balmer, the creative minds behind Konstant, ignite a wave of creative fervor with the release of their latest music video for the explosive single “Feuer.” This track, throbbing with an electrifying pulse and fervent lyrics, is brought to life through a visually arresting video that captures the essence of their dynamic artistry. Firmly rooted in the Swiss alternative scene, Konstant channels the creative energy of late 70s and early 80s new wave and synth music. Die Alternative Rock-Band 40 WATT SUN hat nach dem Titeltrack mit “Astoria” eine zweite Single ihres kommenden Albums “Closer to Life” veröffentlicht. Es ist das vierte Album der Engländer und folgt auf das 2022er-Album “Perfect Light” nach.

“Closer to Life” wurde gemeinsam mit Chris Fullard aufgenommen und gemixt und von Adam Gonsalves gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Tekla Vály. Erscheinen wird das Album am 6. September 2024 via Fisher’s Folly, dem Label von Gitarrist und Sänger Patrick Walker (WARNING).

Es ist das erste Album des 2008 erstanden elektronischen Projekts von Alessandro “Otto” Galli, der für seine Musik einen Nintendo Game Boy verwendet. Die Melodic Metal-Band JADED HEART hat mit “Intuition” eine neue EP angekündigt. Die Scheibe, welche auf das 15. Album der Band, “Heart Attack” (2022), folgt, beinhaltet neben dem neuen Titeltrack, zwei Cover-Versionen sowie eine Live-Aufnahme.

“Intuition” wurde von Henrik Larsson gemixt und gemastert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Giannis Nakos ausgestattet. Release-Termin ist der 27. September 2024 via Massacre Records.

Picture an empty town down the shore, the kind where the echoes of summer laughter still haunt the deserted boardwalks. “Delancey” by South Jersey outfit Polaroid Fade is a love song, not for a person, but for a place. It serenades the silent streets, the vacant houses, and the wistful memories they hold. The melody captures the haunting beauty of an off-season beach town, where every shuttered window and weathered sign whispers tales of what once was. It’s a ballad to towns like Cape May, Avalon, and Stone Harbor, where the sea breeze carries ghosts of past romances and promises unkept.

Polaroid Fade sailed into the South Jersey scene just over a year ago, though their musical roots run deep. It’s comprised of Nicoletta, the band’s vocal dynamo and lyricist; Tyler, a guitarist with a multi-instrumental pedigree, spins intricate melodies and hooks that linger; Grace, the bassist, who anchors each track with grooves that pulse with rhythm and melody; and RJ, the drummer from a metal background, who injects dynamic energy and precision, allowing the band to delve into softer textures without losing intensity. Their dreamy sound is a seamless blend of old-school new wave and modern alternative rock, bridging the past and present with a fresh, familiar flair.

Delancey unfurls with an infectious refrain, its driving tempo and beguiling guitar tones striking a balance between classic and contemporary. The track epitomizes the perfect vibe for gliding down the boardwalk on a breezy day. Effervescent, buoyant vocals reminiscent of Kate Pierson and The Shangri Las blend seamlessly with the lush, layered sound, echoing hints of Lush, The Sundays, Liz Phair, Martha and the Muffins, and Berlin. The jangling guitars, however, place us squarely in 1980s Glasgow. The chorus swells like the tide, invoking a bittersweet nostalgia for lost moments. Delancey tugs at the heartstrings, making you yearn for a place frozen in time, awaiting the return of its fleeting summer romance.

Since dropping their debut single “Any Other Way” in 2022, Polaroid Fade has steadily built a dedicated fanbase and made significant waves in the local scene. Now, with their sights set on the open road, the band is poised to push the boundaries of their musical exploration. Die Progressive / Post-Rock-Band LIZZARD hat mit “Elevate” eine zweite Single ihres kommenden Albums “Mesh” veröffentlicht.

“Dieser Song ist eine Selbstbetrachtung darüber, wie ich mit dem Verlust umgehen musste. Ein innerer Dialog, um das Trauma in eine positive Antriebskraft zu verwandeln. Und das Akzeptieren der Tatsache, dass wir den Verlauf des Schicksals eines jeden nicht ändern können. Wir sind alle hier, um die verschiedenen Farben und Geschmäcker des emotionalen Tanks der anderen zu sein”, sagt Sänger und Gitarrist Mat Ricou.

Zuvor ist ein Video zu “Black Sheep” erschienen. Der Song erforscht die tägliche Dichotomie von Körper und Geist.

Es ist das fünfte Album der in Frankreich ansässigen Band und stellt Fragen dazu, wer und was wir hinter dem Schleier (“Mesh”) wirklich sind, unter dem Geflecht des Scheins, mit dem wir alle unsere Gefühle und Sehnsüchte schützen, aber oft auch verbergen.

“Mesh” wurde in einer verlassenen Fabrik aufgenommen und von Peter Junge produziert. Release-Termin ist der 27. September 2024 via Pelagic Records.

Leider hatte ich bisher die 2 Gigs von den sympathischen EMPATHY TEST in Bremen verpasst! Aber dafür erhielt ich nun die Live Platte der Wave Elektropopper um Frontmann, Sänger und Bandgründer ISAAC HOWLETT mit grandiosen 12 Tracks, die sich teils ganz gut von den CD Original Songs unterscheiden. Man merkt sofort, das hier wirklich alles Live eingespielt wurde und die Band richtig Herzblut in ihr Projekt gelegt hat.  Das Trio aus London gibt es übrigens seit 2014 und für Fans von TEARS FOR FEARS, DE/VISION, DEPECHE MODE, ALPHAVILLE, OMD, DIORAMA, MESH, SOFT CELL, ELEGANT MACHINERY, CAMOUFLAGE, BOYTRONIC, HURTS und anderen verdächtigen aus der Synth Ecke sind die Jungs auf jeden Fall ein großer Tip. Man merkt auch hier schon den prägnanten 80er Wavepop Einfluß. Die 12 Titel von der aktuellen Live CD werden dem geneigten Fan wie aus einem Guss präsentiert und gleich einer meiner Lieblingssongs, das mitreißende „Monsters“ kommt als Opener zuerst. Die markant, tragende und glasklare Stimme von ISAAC, die mich ab und zu an die von MORTEN HARKET erinnert, begeisterte mich sofort durch ihr Gefühl, die Sanftheit und dann wieder auch durch Dynamik, sie prägt und performed einfach jeden Song. Das ist noch ein Sänger, der mit und auf den Synth Tönen seiner Tracks spielen kann, wie auf einer Klaviatur. Soll heißen das er seine Lieder gesanglich genauso so lenkt und über die Sounds fast jubeliert, wie er es Live gern haben möchte, also eine Stimme besitzt, die einen wahrlich berührt und wirklich jeden in seinen absoluten Bann zieht. Titel wie „Making Worlds“, „Bare My Soul“ und vor allem „Incubation Song“ sind der helle Wahnsinn an nostalgisch, melancholischen Auswürfen. D zu gesellen sich Ohrwürmer wie „Doubts“, „Demons“ und natürlich der abgefeierte Überhit „Losing Touch“, der jede Wave Pop Party sprengen müßte. Das emotional, melodische und teils auch voluminöse Sound Bild mit tollen tanzbaren Beats und großartigen Texten der „Liveaufnahmen“, sind einfach fantastisch und wundervoll aufeinander abgestimmt, als wenn es die Gruppe schon seit Jahrzehnten in der Besetzung gibt. Hier wurden alle großartigen Tracks der einzelnen 3 Platten, EPs, Singles,  also der bisher gesamten Diskographie,  zu einem Live Meisterwerk zusammengefaßt und ich hoffe beim nächsten Konzert endlich einmal dabei zu sein. Denn immerhin war die Truppe schon in der EU und den USA live unterwegs. Das hier ist ganz großes „Elektro Gefühlskino“ und man darf auch sehr gespannt sein, wohin die Weiterentwicklung der Band tendiert. Denn eigentlich sind alle Songs aus der bisherigen Vergangenheit garnicht mehr zu toppen oder zu steigern, das ist für mich schon jetzt Wave Synthpop „A La Champions League“. Und wenn schon MIDGE URE und BOY GEORGE die Musik als „musikalischen Orgasmus“ bezeichnen, weiß man Bescheid.
