Am 14. März 2025 erscheint das neue STORM SEEKER-Album “Set The Sails” auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital. Den Titeltrack gibt es schon jetzt in Bild und Ton bei YouTube. Mit dem Stück stellt die Folk Metal-Band auch ihren neuen Frontmann Sean Graham vor, der bereits zuvor Sänger Timothy bei einigen Live-Auftritten ersetzte.

Derzeit und im Frühjahr 2025 sind STORM SEEKER im Vorprogramm von DARTAGNAN live zu sehen. Im Herbst 2025 steht dann eine eigene Headline-Tournee an.

Die Symphonic Metal-Band YLISIA hat einen Labeldeal bei Wormholedeath unterschrieben. Erstes Ergebnis dieser Zusammenarbeit ist der erneute Release des Albums “Underneath”. Das Debütalbum der Niederländer rund um Keyboarder und Komponist George van Olffen (Ex-KINGFISHER SKY) und Sängerin Liesbeth Cordia (Ex-ANNATAR) ist im Eigenvertrieb bereits im Vorjahr erschienen. Beim italienischen Label wird das Album am 6. Dezember  2024 ein weiteres Mal erscheinen.

“Underneath” wurde von Daan Janzing (u.a. für PHANTOM ELITE tätig) gemixt und gemastert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Gogo Melone (AEONIAN SORROW, ELYSIA) ausgestattet.

In tracing the roots of German-Swiss trio Emily Kinski’s Dead (Oliver Spring, Thomas Kowa, René Ebner), one senses their fierce reverence for the raw, rebellious spirit of 80s post-punk and New Wave. Yet, they sidestep simple revivalism, blending that vintage pulse with electrifying, modern beats. Their sound defies confines, skillfully merging grit with bold invention, forming a thrilling synthesis that’s as fresh as it is fearless.

Black Light District calls upon this retrofuturism with its magnetic pull. The band’s second album pulls listeners into a world as dark as it is beguiling, a place where shadows cradle intrigue and touch upon a strange kinship, a whisper of love’s tenderness amidst isolation.

“This album for us is like a journey back to the 80s, to the music we would have loved in that decade and which we still love to hear and to make,” says Reed.

The band’s lyrics, though spare in word, ring with a searing strength, piercing deep, echoing humanity’s fierce longing to escape life’s unforgiving grasp. In stark, haunting harmonies and piercing poetry, Emily Kinski’s Dead shines a fierce light on existence’s raw, unvarnished truth—the stripped-down ache of being alive in a world unkind, where every note bears the weight of stark reality.

The journey begins with Emily, a cover of Clan of Xymox, a haunting prelude that glows briefly before plunging into the depths. In Dancing on the Battlefield, Kinski confronts a world weary with climate decay, debating with a fossil fuel executive who feeds the flames of destruction. Fabio Rincones’ video brings the story’s pulse to life.

Then, Cold Comfort lulls with deceptive warmth, its chorus swelling before giving way to Pink Pill, a slyly seductive anthem. With Nothingness, euphoria crashes; everything dissipates, leaving only bleak loneliness. Dead Loss pulses with breakbeats, a hurried exit where dark words betray its rhythm. Semaphore masks grief, leading into a trance, and The Mirror in Me brings shoegaze introspection.

The lyric video for The Mirror In Me frames a woman locked in her reflection—a figure half Narcissus, half something from The Hunger. Her gaze is heavy, bearing the weight of a soul wrestling with darkness, burdened by the world’s torment. Shadows coil around her, each line she mouths reflecting humanity’s raw sorrow. She stands, the quiet witness, trapped in a fractured image of suffering yet aching for the light, for release, for some fragile thread of redemption. As hate etches cracks into her spirit, her face becomes a mosaic of despair—a mirror to the ache of being alive.

The bonus tracks—Why Can’t You Love Me? and Siren’s Call—delve into obsession and futile longing, each video deepening this world of Black Light District.

It’s been five years since we last heard from Silent EM, aka NYC-based musician Jean Lorenzo. While the world has changed several times over, Silent EM’s brand of incisive, cold, post-punk flavored electronics has not lost its appeal in the slightest. With that in mind, we’re pleased to announce the release of REAL LIFE, a stunning full-length LP, which is released today on DKA Records in North America and Kernkrach throughout Europe. Each edition features a unique cover designed by Lorenzo.

The album features eight tracks of caustic synth bliss, each which twist and turn at breakneck speed. Each track builds on the tense energy of the last, giving the record a passionate, yet unified feel. Highlights include the appropriately named “World of Sin,” which touches on world-weary issues, the incredibly catchy “Europa,” which features guest vocals by Q-based synth artist Xarah Dion, and “The Hunger,” which features razor sharp leads and throbbing synth bass and percussion. The record on the whole is rather politically charged, a visceral artistic reaction to the rather surreal and distressing political climate we’re experiencing on a daily basis.

The album was fully recorded and immaculately mixed in Montreal under the guidance of Xavier Paradis of Automelodi, adding a touch of the producer’s incredible flair to the recordings. This is also the first Silent EM recording to feature guitar on a handful of tracks, which call bands like A Split Second or Parálisis Permanente to mind, resulting in a refreshing and engaging combination of past and present sensibilities.

In addition to releasing the album today, Silent EM has also released a video for lead single “Institution,” shot and directed by Dino Kužnik. The video begins with a nod to the video for “Wraith” from 2019’s The Absence, but doubles down on the track’s condemnation of organized religion with a series of Catholic imagery, shadow play, and performance clips. Loving something you shouldn’t is like clutching a live wire—painful, charged, and impossible to release. You know it’s wrong, yet it hums in your bones, an electric ache that won’t let up. It becomes a constant presence in the mind, a murmur at the edge of thought, a craving that burrows under your skin and festers. You bargain with yourself, feeding this dark affection morsels of your time, your sanity, hoping it’ll be enough to satisfy. But it never is. This kind of love grows roots in places it shouldn’t reach, tangling with your better judgment, throttling reason with its grip. It’s a vice that whispers sweetly, promising release, only to tighten the noose. In the end, you’re left holding onto a thing that gnaws at you, bleeding you dry while smiling back – because the worst part of all is that you still don’t want to let go.

Philadelphia’s Cigarettes for Breakfast stirs up shoegaze with a raw, bone-deep energy, wrapping dense layers of sound around each heart-torn lyric. Their songs bring forth the gauzy spirit of shoegaze giants like My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, yet there’s something distinctly their own, a fresh, iridescent spark igniting the familiar dreamy haze. Every performance spills over with a kind of electric yearning—thick waves of reverb crashing against walls of fuzz, while lyrics drift like echoes, steeped in a relentless longing.

Numb the Pain, featuring guest vocals by Andi from Andi & Alex on the NBC series The Voice, is the third single from their upcoming album Slow Motion, slated for a February 2025 release. The track dives into existential dread, grappling with depression, addiction, and societal angst.

Drenched in sighing reverb, Numb The Pain mirrors a sense of disillusionment and defeat, a return to a familiar, troubled turf. The lyrics drip with indifference and frustration, conveying a sense of being buried or stuck, haunted by doubts of past failures. Themes of numbing pain and fleeing reality weave through, painting a bleak picture of isolation and solitary struggle.

The brainchild of Matt Whiteford, with a rotating roster of members and collaborators, has grabbed listeners’ hearts, shifting from the DIY music scene to sharing stages with Slow Crush, The Asteroid No. 4, and Day Aches. After several EPs and singles, Cigarettes for Breakfast released a debut LP, Join the Circus in 2023, showcasing their knack for exploring love, loss, and self-discovery, taking listeners on a wild ride through raw emotions.

Slow Motion is set to be released in February of 2025.

Die Melodic Death / Heavy Metal-Band GARDEN OF STONE hat mit “Ode To Rage” eine weitere Single ihres kommenden Albums “The Grave Mistake” veröffentlicht. Wenige Wochenzuvor ist ein Lyric-Video zu “Daydream” erschienen.

“Der Song beschreibt einen Kampf mit dem Glauben und der Freiheit, wobei die Metapher eines Vogels mit gestutzten Flügeln den Wunsch ausdrückt, sich von persönlichen Beschränkungen zu befreien. Themen wie Verstrickung, Trotz und das Streben nach Frieden sind in den Text eingewoben und gipfeln in einem Gefühl der Ermächtigung und Befreiung”, erklärt die Band.

Im August hat die Band ein Video zur zweiten Vorab-Single “Waiting For The Light” veröffentlicht.

“”Waiting for the Light” schildert ein Leben, das von Leid und Chaos überwältigt ist, symbolisiert durch Dunkelheit und Gefangenschaft”, erklärt die Band. “Der Protagonist sehnt sich nach Hoffnung und Erlösung und wartet ständig darauf, dass das Licht seine Qualen durchbricht. Die immer wiederkehrenden Themen der Gewalt, der falschen Hoffnung und der Suche nach einem Ausweg unterstreichen die tiefe Verzweiflung und das Ringen um Erlösung.”

Es ist das erste Album der Finnen, die vor wenigen Monaten mit der EP “Tides of Decay” debütierten.

“The Grave Mistake” wurde mit einem Cover-Artwork von Noora Khouya ausgestattet und wird am 29. November 2024 via Inverse Records erscheinen. Vorab gibt es mit “Day of Discord” einen weiteren Video-Clip.

“Der Song schildet eine dystopische, vom Krieg verwüstete Welt, in der Zerstörung und Chaos unvermeidlich und allgegenwärtig sind”, erklärt die Band. “Er personifiziert den Konflikt als eine kalkulierte Kraft, die die Menschheit verzehrt, dargestellt durch lebhafte und grausame Bilder. Der Text betont die Vergeblichkeit des Widerstands und die entmenschlichenden Auswirkungen des Krieges, der nichts Wertvolles zurücklässt.”

In the murky depths of Bloomington, Indiana, Twice Dark took form—a spectral creation, a shadow stitched from the imaginative fabric of Josh Kreuzman in 2020. This dark, pulsing entity—half gothic ghost, half industrial storm—threw roots into strange soil, its music a dense blend of goth, industrial pulses, and electronic rhythms that collide with Italo disco, deathrock, cold wave, and dark wave textures.

Kreuzman’s sound experiments were always steeped in mystery, yet now, with the release of the single Telekinetic, Twice Dark drifts towards the kinetic allure of synthpop. It calls to mind the moody refrains of Depeche Mode and Cetu Javu, mingling with the dance-laden spirits of Cause & Effect, Eleven Pond, The Cars, and The Beloved. It’s a brighter sound—and one of optimism in these uncertain times.

Telekinetic pulses with the fierce journey of a soul bent on escape, driven by the steady courage to push through fear’s grip and reach toward something brighter. This song hums with the ache of loneliness, yet holds a shimmering release, each verse a quiet room filled with past pains, unsaid dreams, and the unrelenting need to break free. With every note, there’s a determination to carve a new path, conjuring strength from the stillness within, willing transformation from the dark.

It’s a hymn to resilience, the quiet endurance born from solitude, a mind over matter—telekinetic—lifting the spirit beyond life’s struggles. There’s a sense of resolve here, an energy that builds not in loud cries but in soft certainty. The chorus swells like a gentle tide, whispering a truth that frees: each forward step is a mark of power, a reminder that the mind can indeed make us free.

In tracing the roots of German-Swiss trio Emily Kinski’s Dead (Oliver Spring, Thomas Kowa, René Ebner), one senses their fierce reverence for the raw, rebellious spirit of 80s post-punk and New Wave. Yet, they sidestep simple revivalism, blending that vintage pulse with electrifying, modern beats. Their sound defies confines, skillfully merging grit with bold invention, forming a thrilling synthesis that’s as fresh as it is fearless.

Black Light District calls upon this retrofuturism with its magnetic pull. The band’s second album pulls listeners into a world as dark as it is beguiling, a place where shadows cradle intrigue and touch upon a strange kinship, a whisper of love’s tenderness amidst isolation.

“This album for us is like a journey back to the 80s, to the music we would have loved in that decade and which we still love to hear and to make,” says Reed.

The band’s lyrics, though spare in word, ring with a searing strength, piercing deep, echoing humanity’s fierce longing to escape life’s unforgiving grasp. In stark, haunting harmonies and piercing poetry, Emily Kinski’s Dead shines a fierce light on existence’s raw, unvarnished truth—the stripped-down ache of being alive in a world unkind, where every note bears the weight of stark reality.

The journey begins with Emily, a cover of Clan of Xymox, a haunting prelude that glows briefly before plunging into the depths. In Dancing on the Battlefield, Kinski confronts a world weary with climate decay, debating with a fossil fuel executive who feeds the flames of destruction. Fabio Rincones’ video brings the story’s pulse to life.

Then, Cold Comfort lulls with deceptive warmth, its chorus swelling before giving way to Pink Pill, a slyly seductive anthem. With Nothingness, euphoria crashes; everything dissipates, leaving only bleak loneliness. Dead Loss pulses with breakbeats, a hurried exit where dark words betray its rhythm. Semaphore masks grief, leading into a trance, and The Mirror in Me brings shoegaze introspection.

The lyric video for The Mirror In Me frames a woman locked in her reflection—a figure half Narcissus, half something from The Hunger. Her gaze is heavy, bearing the weight of a soul wrestling with darkness, burdened by the world’s torment. Shadows coil around her, each line she mouths reflecting humanity’s raw sorrow. She stands, the quiet witness, trapped in a fractured image of suffering yet aching for the light, for release, for some fragile thread of redemption. As hate etches cracks into her spirit, her face becomes a mosaic of despair—a mirror to the ache of being alive.

Am 2. November wird in Mexiko der Dia de los Muertos, der Tag der Toten gefeiert. Im keltisch geprägten Kulturbereich ist es die Nacht vom 31. Oktober auf den 1. November, in der sich die Lebenden und die Toten begegnen. Pünktlich zu Halloween führen REMEMBER TWILIGHT mexikanische Tradition und nordeuropäische Denkweisen zu einem audiovisuellen Gesamtpaket zusammen. Der Titel: „Umwertung aller Werte“. Der neue Song der Süddeutschen fordert zu einer neuen Sicht auf unsere (Sehn)Sucht nach Leben auf. Aufgenommen wurde die Nummer unter Leitung von Markus Stock (The Vision Bleak, Empyrium), veredelt durch die Stimme von Gastsänger Sebastian Lohse (ehemals Letzte Instanz) und mit einem stimmungsvollen Clip bebildert von Regisseur Ommar Gutierrez. Remember Twilight laden ein, sich die Bedeutungslosigkeit der Menschheit vor Augen zu führen. Nicht, um nahezulegen, dass wir unser Dasein auch gleich wegwerfen können. Vielmehr, um zum Überdenken von Prioritäten anzuregen. „Umwertung aller Werte“? Wahrscheinlich nicht. Eine teilweise Abkehr vom Weiterwursteln im Korsett einer dem Untergang geweihten Weltordnung wäre aber immerhin ein Anfang.

Ihr zweites Studioalbum “Every Second An Ocean” haben GRUNDEIS für 12. Dezember 2024 angekündigt. Erscheinen wird die Platte via UNDRESSED Records, eine Single steht nun in Form von “Distanced Far Gone” vorab zur Verfügung. Die Band erklärt zum Track:

“‘Distanced Far Gone’ war einer der letzten Songs, den wir für das Album geschrieben haben und eigentlich haben wir ihn erst im Studio so richtig fertiggestellt. Es war einer dieser Songs mit denen man ins Studio geht und vorher noch nicht genau weiß, ob sie fertig werden oder ob man sich im Studio verrennt und am Ende alles über den Haufen wirft. Irgendwann kamen wir zufällig zu dem Break nach dem Chorus und auf einmal bekam der Song ein neues Alternative Rock Feeling, das uns allen gefiel. Kein ganz fremder Planet für uns, aber noch nie bewegten wir uns so nah an diesem Orbit.“

From the rugged region of Dauphiné comes No Filter: three seasoned souls hardened by twenty years in the French black metal scene, now diving headfirst into the raw currents of punk, Oi, and coldwave. Born from a desire to break new ground, No Filter initially sang in English but soon turned to their native French, finding the language’s blunt, biting edge better suited to their message. Each track pulses with tales of violence and loyalty, nights soaked in revelry, and the stark landscapes of their rural roots.

They sing not of abstract ideals but of lived truths—of friendships forged in fire, of a countryside as wild and relentless as their sound. Their themes grip at the marrow of life’s harsher realities, throwing them into sharp relief. In every chord and verse, No Filter captures a fierce, unfiltered ode to place and people, to roots that run deep and friendships that hold fast.

Musically, No Filter finds kindred spirits among French outfits like Bromure, Syndrome 81, and Oi Boys, but they push their sound further into uncharted terrain, amplifying the synth-wave edge until it feels like an unholy union of New Order’s spectral pulse and The 4 Skins’ raw power. It’s a brew that’s strange yet stunning, rough yet unexpectedly refined—a new voice howling from the French underground. ‘Synth punk, bagarre et blousons noirs,” as the band describes themselves.

Today, the lads unleash a raw and raucous video for La Haine Nous Appartient, capturing a night where fists fly and tempers flare under the glaring lights of a local dance. With fists clenched and bulletproof vests donned, they march into a battleground of grit and bone, a place where tradition collides with pure defiance. Brothers shoulder to shoulder, they brace for the bruises, driven by loyalty, local pride, and a touch of madness. It’s a primal scene: punches aimed squarely for the jaw, voices rising in feral cries, each hit ringing with the thrill and fury of an age-old rivalry.

There is a poetry in the ferocity of the French lyrics. Fear dissolves like mist, thin as the air we breathe—no flesh, no fate, no fury can shackle us. Knuckles glint like fallen stars, clenched in fists as if cast from iron, striking without memory, without root. In the night, we’re shadow-figures, faceless and fearless, tied not to past or place. Rage is our realm. Hear the rough cadence of the street, where alley and asphalt cradle our call, fire-wrought throats hurling guttural chants. The scent of dust and desire clings; we are wild breath and broken glass, hooligans, the raw howl of the unsaved.

Faith? We burn it. The holy is a crumbling mask. Virgin relics fall as flame consumes their shrines, ashes scatter in our wake—a heresy forged in dark fire. Fists high, pride like iron, we sing to the night—no fear, no name, no allegiance but to rage, the only hymn we need.
