Am 05. September 2025 veröffentlichen ELEINE die EP „We Stand United“, im Anschluss ist die Band als Support von PRIMAL FEAR auf Tour.

Mit einem Live-Mitschnitt von „Never Forget“ teilt die Band nun die erste Single:

„Wir haben uns für diesen speziellen Livetrack als erste Single entschieden, um euch unsere kommende EP näherzubringen, da wir finden, dass er uns bestens repräsentiert und ELEINE genau dort zeigt, wo wir uns mit am wohlsten fühlen: AUF DER BÜHNE! ‚Never Forget‘ wurde 2024 beim Masters of Rock in Tschechien mitgeschnitten. Wir hatten damals vielleicht ein oder zwei Stunden geschlafen, die Sonne brannte gnadenlos und es herrschten gefühlte 50°C auf der Bühne. Letztendlich erlebten wir jedoch eine großartige Show vor einem unglaublichen Publikum – und das bei einem der allerbesten Festivals. Zusätzlich melden wir uns zurück, nachdem unser Start ins Jahr 2025 etwas holprig war. Sololand, a DIY project conceived by artist Didier Landron (Sandcastle; Electrical Blue Pop), emerges from the shadowy fringes of Toulon, wielding a tightly wound coil of cold wave and gothic rock distilled in the clandestine glow of solitude. Like a restless ghost navigating neon-lit streets and phosphorescent motorways, Sololand (a portmanteau of “solo” and the first part of his name) siphons the spirit of early post-punk’s blue-tinged shadows that fall upon the ground as the sun sets on the horizon. In the project so far, we hear vocals reminiscent of Batcave-era Gothic rock, akin to those of Play Dead. There are also elements of the smoldering, nocturnal yearning found in The Sisters of Mercy, the driving rhythms characteristic of Killing Joke, and the Western guitar twang of Theatre of Hate and Death Cult. Overall, this combination creates a soundtrack for a compelling vision of existential drama fused with brooding narrative archetypes. such as the strange man in black who rides out alone across the wasteland.

“Creating, writing, and playing music by myself is something I’ve always had in mind and in me since I was a teenager (yes, I’m no longer one),” quips Landron about his choice to fly solo. “I’ve always had music playing in my brain, melodies bouncing on my skull including musical arrangements. It took decades before I made it real and was able to do it all by myself or so, especially because I can’t write music scores literally speaking and hire musicians to play parts. I can’t even describe with words the sounds I have in mind. Thus better doing it myself or striving to do it, including mixing.”

Desert Sick Song prowls with minimalist menace, a murder ballad thick with ambiguity and stripped-down dread. The track moves with the cautious tension of a rattlesnake through dry grasses; sparse, programmed beats underpin a stark bassline and guitars that tremble like heat-haze mirages. Echoes of Sisters of Mercy via First and Last and Always, and Talk About The Weather-era Red Lorry Yellow Lorry reverberate through the twilight, yet Landron’s baritone delivery adds an unmistakable aura of enigmatic menace, blurring reality with fevered visions.

In fact, this track is practically a noir film compressed into four intense minutes, a phantom road trip through American wastelands. Landron’s skillful arrangement delivers a teasing puzzle: Is this a duel with the devil or a final confrontation with the self? Mastered by Liam Remanjon, its vintage textures evoke scratchy film reels, the warm hiss of analog equipment lending a grainy intimacy to the spectral narrative.

“I wanted to write a story about everyday life with underlying violence, and when I see violence and darkness, unfortunately or not, I see it in the United States in a sticky, humid atmosphere, undoubtedly influenced by 50s thrillers and the fact that weapons are freely available,” Landron says. “However the lyrics are somewhat ambiguous and it’s not entirely clear who the protagonist is or who he’s shooting at. And I wanted it this way.”

Landon spoke with Post-Punk.com about the creation of the song, the single’s artwork and creative inspirations:

Describe the instrumentation and production style—what choices did you make to create a sense of haunting mystery and despair? I strived to find a minimalist sound and production to create a dark and cold atmosphere. For the guitar sound, I worked with very 80s-tinged elements with a Roland JC 120 amp, RAT distortion/overdrive, a small touch of echo and a little chorus. The bass is very stripped down. The drums, which are programmed, are deliberately simple and repetitive to create the rhythm of the protagonist through his journey by car and then walking on the dry lake.

Beyond music, what films, books, or visual arts strongly influence your songwriting and aesthetic? 

Victor Hugo, Paul Auster, Jonathan Coe’s Welcome to the Club; Cioran’s aphorisms and Scandinavian thrillers. Paintings : Vermeer and Rembrandt. Cartier-Bresson, Clergue, Doisneau, Ronis. The aesthetic of Wings of Desire (Wim Wenders) and the  tense, desert-like atmosphere of Sergio Leone’s films.

If you could select one novel or film that “Desert Sick Song” could soundtrack, what would it be and why?

I would pick Christopher Nolan’s Memento regarding the neo-noir monochrome psychological atmosphere and the main character’s amnesia and inability to form new memories resulting in something totally messy in his brain. I think Leonard Shelby could have been the main character of Desert Sick Song in some aspects.

Who created the single’s artwork? Explain the concept behind it and why you chose this imagery.

I did it. I wanted a cover made from a photo of a desert, but in France, there are no deserts! I searched through my photo archives and found some analogue photos taken during a trip to southern Spain, in Andalusia. The one used for the cover is a photo taken in the Spanish “desert” of Tabernas. A place that notably served as a filming location for Segio Leone’s spaghetti westerns.

Your lyrics mention darkness, despair, demons, and angels—what personal experiences or philosophical ideas drive these themes?

Life could be harsh and pointless. The world is unfair, humanity is unfair, and life sometimes seems absurd, but I also like the idea of ​​making something positive and generous out of it, whatever the outcome. I’d like to make sure that I’m not gonna be buried amongst the narrow-minded with my free mind.

Are you currently working on additional songs, an EP, or a full album for Sololand? If so, what can listeners expect next?

I have material to release either a bunch of singles or an EP within a semester. I mostly need to work on writing lyrics and adding vocals. It’s not a matter of inspiration but rather a matter of having time and space to achieve it. However, I am wondering whether to release an instrumental version of a song in a few weeks before making a sung version. Either way, it’s pretty exciting!

Do you plan more singles, collaborations, or live performances? I’m gonna focus on finalizing a few songs first. Then I’ll start putting together a set so I can consider playing shows.

Swiss duo Veil of Light takes a heartfelt dive into synthpop romance with their latest single, “Stay Stay Stay,” from their newest album, “Hymns of Faith and Trust,” released via Young & Cold Records (YCR 187). Echoing the synth-driven charm of New Order and the sophisticated pop sensitivity of Pet Shop Boys, the track bursts forth with lush orchestral stabs, engaging synth hooks, and a spirited vocal interplay between Michael Ho and guest vocalist Belia Winnewisser.

The relaxed, detached demeanor of the band juxtaposes intriguingly with the determined, performative artistry of the swimmer, adding depth and playful contrast to the visual narrative.

Stay Stay Stay is undeniably Veil of Light at their peak: a sleek, spirited gem that balances vibrant melodies with emotional resonance, demonstrating their continued excellence in crafting memorable and thoughtfully expressive synthpop.

In an era dominated by echoes of the familiar, John Bérb-Eluha emerges with a fierce stride into unexplored territories of absurdity and existential humour. Widely celebrated for his meticulous contributions to Side-Line magazine’s Face the Beat compilations and his dark, industrial remixes for German titans Wumpscut, Bérb-Eluha’s latest self-named endeavour, BERBELUHA, plunges listeners into a theatrical whirlpool where sardonic wit melds seamlessly with surrealist melodies.

Dramat z Nietzschego (Drama from Nietzsche) acts as both ironic homage and incisive critique, twisting philosophical grandeur through a lens of mundane absurdity. Echoing Nietzsche’s profound yet mocking examination of humanity’s overinflated dramas, the album oscillates between biting satire and unabashed chaos, akin to the thought, “what if Hieronymus Bosch’s grotesque visions were set to coldwave and minimal electronic pulses?” This is not an album to casually enjoy on a long car ride or a turn on the elliptical machine, it is food for the intellect (if not honey to the eardrums).

Paralysis epitomizes this ethos, manifesting a sonic overload that transforms endless potential into a stifling deadlock. Through the repetitive use of shuddering metallic drum beats and baroque synth rhythms, along with dramatic lyrical emphasis, Berbeluha interrogates the ironic paralysis spawned by overwhelming abundance, marking an ironic farewell to the freedom promised by boundless creativity. Opening with bass synths buzzing and droning sustained synth warbles, Little Icicle unfolds as a twisted fairytale laced with giallo beats, juxtaposing festive wonder against sudden disaster. The bright charm of holiday baubles suddenly plunges into grim stillness, reminding listeners of life’s precarious fragility: innocence swiftly giving way to a darker fate, delicate as melting ice.

In stark contrast, “Legs” opens with distorted horns and bubbling disco beats, evoking a Leonard Cohen-esque collaboration with Golbin via Tenebrae. The song finds humour in the mundane, elevating daily rituals of hygiene into obsessive rites of bodily awareness. Beneath its comedic veneer, Berbeluha subtly tackles human anxieties around cleanliness and control, winking at the listener through obsessive repetition. Meanwhile, opening with a rubbery synth dirge that transforms into a phantasmagoric organ sound, Fishing is a whirlpool of atmosphere that humorously dissects procrastination and perpetual postponement through deep vocals and higher-pitched wails. Dreams of leisurely fishing trips remain tantalizingly out of reach, exposing humanity’s hesitant nature. Here, the irony is sharp: the comforts of delay become both refuge and prison.

With an almost folk-synth EBM beat, laced with metallic strumming and the dull knell of thick bells, Weather is a dirge that dives into paranoid uncertainty, blurring the line between internal anxieties and external disturbances. It evokes our compulsive search for reasons behind emotional unrest, oscillating humorously between suspicion and mundane meteorological scapegoats.

The album closes with an instrumental trio: the chilling, slow synth reminiscent of a hailstorm enveloping an aluminum cocoon in “Szkorbut” (Scurvy); the bubbling, whimsical sound of “Berbeluha,” which feels like the synth soundtrack to an 80s fairytale film; and the ominous descent into the depths in “Full,” which guides listeners into a deeper realm of reflective abstraction.

Particularly striking is Full, a hypnotically robotic mantra delivered with calculated precision, reflecting existential saturation amidst paradoxical emptiness. Directed visually by Łódź-based woodcut artist Andrzej Nowicki, Full encapsulates modern exhaustion, an allegory of information overload and emotional vacancy…a compelling endnote to a thoughtfully provocative record.

Dramat z Nietzschego is an oddity, and a triumph in balancing philosophical heft with mischievous levity —a sharp and satirical dance through life’s absurdities, offering an absurd yet profound voyage that leaves listeners intrigued, amused, and curiously unsettled. It is an album unlike any other, building a world of its own within its uncanny embrace.

„Es ist einer der seltenen Songs, die ich mit dem Bass und dieser grundlegenden funkigen Idee begonnen habe, wobei ich gleichzeitig eine ziemlich geradlinige Melodie im Hintergrund beibehalten habe, egal wie dicht der Rhythmus wurde. Ich liebe es, wenn Arrangements sich so anfühlen, als würde man eine Seite umblättern und in eine andere Dimension gelangen, aber ich fand es wichtig, dass dieser Song sich trotz seiner Dynamik nahtlos anfühlt. Selbst wenn es heavy wird, fand ich es im Kern lustig, dass man immer noch das Gefühl hat, dass es Prince‘ Band spielt, und dass es funky bleibt.“

„WAKE OF VULTURES“ basiert auf der Idee „Geteiltes Leid ist halbes Leid“, geht aber noch einen Schritt weiter. Es ist die Kehrseite der Gesellschaft unglücklicher Menschen. Sobald man Teil dieser Gruppe ist, ist man entweder ein Geier oder das elende Stück Fleisch, an dem sie sich laben. Noch so eine warnende Geschichte … Ich erkenne ein Muster.“

 

Das neue Album der Power Metal-Band um Matt Barlow und Freddie Vidales (beide ex-ICED EARTH) wurde aufgenommen und gemastert von Byron Filson im Villain Recording in Phoenix, Arizona. Das Artwork ist von Kamil Pietruczynik.

Im August 1976 probten MOTÖRHEAD im Manticore Studio von EMERSON, LAKE AND PALMER in Fulham und nahmen die ersten Songs in der Besetzung Lemmy (Bass/Gesang), Fast Eddie Clarke (Gitarre) und Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor (Schlagzeug) auf.  49 Jahre später ist dieses angeblich lange verschollene Band ganz zufällig wieder aufgetaucht – und wird nun zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum der Band unter dem Titel „The Manticore Tapes“ veröffentlicht.

Nun gibt es auch einen animierten Clip zu „Leavin‘ Here“

Zum Reinhören teilte das Label im Mai auch die 76er Version Version von „Motörhead„.

Der Motörhead-Produzent Cameron Webb hat die Bänder im Maple Studio überarbeitet,  Andrew Alekel übernahm das Mastering im Bolskine House.

“The Manticore Tapes” werden als Deluxe Expanded Bookpack mit einer Doppel-LP und einer 7”-Single, als Single-LP, auf CD sowie digital erhältlich sein – Veröffentlichungstermin ist der 27. Juni 2025.
