Die Modern Metal-Band LIV SIN hat einen Labeldeal bei Seek and Strike unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Schweden aus Stockholm ihr neues Album „Close Your Eyes“ veröffentlichen. Es ist das vierte Album der 2016 gegründeten Band rund um Sängerin Liv Jagrell (Ex-SISTER SIN).

„Close Your Eyes“ wurde von Tue Madsen gemixt und wird am 8. August 2025 erscheinen. Vorab gibt es einen Video-Clip zum Titeltrack – mit Gast-Sänger Lars Palmqvist (SCAR SYMMETRY).

„Der Song behandelt das Thema Menschenhandel. Liv hatte die Idee für den Text, nachdem sie eine Dokumentation über Menschen gesehen hatte, die in Osteuropa in die Fänge von Menschenhändlern geraten“, erklärt die Band.

Double-Bass: Steve Di Giorgio (TESTAMENT, DEATH) und Jeroen Paul Thesseling (OBSCURA, PESTILENCE) haben sich 2019 zur Prog Metal-Fusion-Band QUADVIUM zusammengetan, das Debütalbum „Tetradōm“ wurde am 30. Mai 2025 via Agonia Records veröffentlicht.

Seit vielen Jahren wollen wir gemeinsam Musik machen, als Fretless-Bass-Duett, erklären Steve und Jeroen. „Wir wollen Rhythmus- und & Leadbass sein noch nur Solo-Licks austauschen. Das ist allerdings leichter gesagt als getan! Eine solche Band zu gründen war eine spontane Idee, aber im Laufe der Jahre kamen aber immer wieder darauf zurück. Es dauerte lange, bis wir einerseits wussten, wie wir den Bass ins Zentrum rücken können und wer uns dabei unterstützen könnte.  Yuma ist ein alter Bekannter und zu unserem Glück macht er auch bei diesem Projekt mit. Er versteht, dass zwei Bassisten das Klangspektrum ausfüllen, und liefert das Rückgrat, das unsere Ideen zusammenhält. Nach einer langen Suche nach dem nächsten Musiker sind wir auf Instagram auf Eve und einige der verrücktesten Gitarren- (und Bass-!) Videos, die wir je gesehen haben, gestoßen. Mit Eve haben wir ein weiteres Bandmitglied gefunden – und dazu ein Studiogenie, das alles zu dem Album zusammenführte, das wir jetzt präsentieren und auf das wir stolz sind.

Die Stoner Rock-Band ALPHAWHORES hat nach den Video-Clips zu „Pirate Mode“ und „Beautiful Music, Awful Person“ mit „Bloodsport“ einen weiteren Video-Clip von ihrem neuen Album „You Can Come Out Now“ veröffentlicht.

Das nach „I“ (2024) zweite Album des Geschwisterpaares wurde von Adrian Bushby produziert und von Evan Rodaniche gemixt. Release-Termin war der 13. Juni 2025.

Zuvor hat die Band mit „Over and Over“ einen Song von HOT CHIP gecovert und als Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Die Cover-Version galt als Vorbote für die Europa-Tournee, welches das Duo aus Panama, das aus Massiel Pinzón und Juan Carlos García de Paredes besteht, im Februar und März 2025 in Angriff nahm.

Die schwedische Alternative Rock / Metalcore-Band PALESKIN hat am 13. Juni 2025 via Out Of Line Music ihr neues und zweites Album „Euphoric End“ veröffentlicht. Nun gibt es auch zum Titeltrack einen Video-Clip.

Vorab haben die Schweden unter anderem die Vorab-Single „Love me, slow“ veröffentlicht.

„“Love me, slow“ ist ein Song darüber, dass man Drogen und Alkohol nimmt, um seine Gefühle zu betäuben, und später merkt, dass man nicht davor weglaufen kann und es einen verzehrt“, erklärt die Band.

Vorab gab es auch zum Opener „One Night On The Town“ einen Video-Clip. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Song über die Aufregung und die Vorfreude auf das, was vor einem liegt, wenn man sich auf eine Nacht vorbereitet. „Angeheizt durch Alkohol, verschwimmt die Nacht bis in die frühen Morgenstunden und wird zu dem, was man gemeinhin als „chaotisch“ bezeichnet, komplett mit Konfrontationen und unzüchtigem Verhalten.“

Ausgehend von der biblischen Geschichte von Kain und Abel erforsche die Band die zerstörerischen Triebe, die den Sündenfall der Menschheit ausmachen, und rufe Themen wie innere Konflikte, moralischen Zusammenbruch und ursprüngliche Gewalt hervor.

Die Black Metal-Band MARGANTHA hat nach dem eröffnenden Titeltrack und „Curse Of The Full Moon“ mit „Wolves At The Door“ einen dritten Track ihrer kommenden EP „Blood Moon Sacrifice“ veröffentlicht. Es ist der erste Release des internationalen Projekts aus Finnland und Italien.

Bei der Scheibe handelt es sich um ein Konzeptwerk, das auf einer seit Generationen mündlich überlieferten Legende beruht: Die Sage, die dem Sänger Nocturnus I als Kind von seiner Großmutter erzählt wurde, handelt von einem Werwolf, der ein Jägerdorf am Fuße einer abgelegenen Bergkette heimsucht. Aus diesem Mythos entstand eine Sammlung von Liedern.

„Blood Moon Sacrifice“ wurde von Andy LaRocque (KING DIAMOND) im Sonic Train Studio gemixt und gemastert und wird am 27. Juni 2025 via Rockshots Records erscheinen.

As tradition demands, I packed my suitcase, got myself ready, and headed toward Leipzig main station to stow away my luggage. My instincts told me to plan for disruption, so I had my backup plans ready - marked in the Pfingstbote, in the app, and on old-school paper - especially along the familiar route of Line 11.

So I came prepared: multiple schedules marked up in the WGT app, handwritten alternatives on paper, passages highlighted in the Pfingstbote - my personal survival kit for the inevitable shifts of fate. On this particular Saturday, it would be the weather playing its whimsical tricks. Still, no forecast could dampen the spirit of exploration this festival always awakens in me.

Die Blackened Crust-Band STYGIAN hat mit „Dreadlands“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das erste Album der Italiener aus Ravenna und erforsche den Kontrast zwischen zwei spirituellen Welten:

„Den auf Harmonie ausgerichteten heidnischen Traditionen und dem Erbe der abrahamitischen Religionen, die oft die gewalttätigsten Instinkte der Menschheit kanalisieren. Während die heidnischen Riten dazu dienten, ursprüngliche Kräfte auszudrücken und zu bändigen und das Gleichgewicht zwischen Mensch und Natur aufrechtzuerhalten, haben monotheistische Dogmen häufig Krieg und Zerstörung im Namen des Glaubens gerechtfertigt.“

„“Spirit in the Mist“ erzählt die Geschichte einer Qual, die nie vergeht“, erklärt die Band. „Der Erzähler – der Mörder der im Lied beschworenen Figur – wird von der Gegenwart des Geistes der Frau heimgesucht. In Nebel gehüllt, kehrt sie zurück, ohne eine Spur zu hinterlassen, doch hinterlässt sie tiefe Wunden in ihm. Hin- und hergerissen zwischen Verleugnung und Reue versucht er, die Vergangenheit zu begraben, zwingt sich, sich nicht zu erinnern, nicht zurückzukehren, nicht hinzusehen. Aber die Schuld lebt weiter, und der Geist geht weiter. Keine Vergebung. Kein Frieden. Nur die Stimme des Windes… und eine Präsenz, die sich weigert, vergessen zu werden. Die Heavy Rock-Band I.F.A hat mit dem Video-Clip zu „Intiaani“ mit dem Video-Clip zu „Pedon kieli“ eine dritte Single ihres kommenden Albums „Tiimalasi“ veröffentlicht.

„Der Text des Liedes basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Roman von Janne Tulonen. Der Song zielt darauf ab, die reflektierende Geschichte des Romans über das Wachstum zu verfolgen, mit seinen Erfolgen und Enttäuschungen, Rückenwind und Rückschlägen und dem Konflikt zwischen Gut und Böse in jedem von uns“, erklärt die Band.

Es ist nach „Ifandia“ (2021) das zweite Album der Finnen, deren Ursprung als Band bereits Mitte der 80er-Jahre zu finden ist. „Tiimalasi“ wurde mit einem Cover-Artwork von Erkko Reiniö ausgestattet und wird am 8. mit „Reckless“ eine neue Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Davor ist schon ein Video zu „Hush“ erschienen. Der Song erzählt vom chaotischen Kampf einer alleinerziehenden Mutter am Rande eines Nervenzusammenbruchs, in dem sie sich der unbändigen Rebellion ihrer Kinder stellen muss.

„“Hush“ ist mit Vorsicht zu genießen. Ich war nie eine perfekte Mutter. Ich lehne die Idee von „elterlicher Aufoperung“ oder „Kompromissen“ ab, die unnötige Schuldgefühle erzeugen. Autonomie hat bei mir immer Priorität bekommen: Meine Kinder können kochen, sich zurechtfinden, sich selbst organisieren und diese Erziehung hat ihren starken Charakter geprägt. Es gibt manchmal Konflikte, sie hören nicht immer und wir sind auch nicht immer einer Meinung. Aber am Ende führt es oft zu den richtigen Entscheidungen“, sagt Lucie Sue.

Anfang des Jahres hat die Band mit „Battlestation“ eine weitere Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Der Song sei dabei ein Manifest, das die Tabuthemen Ungleichheit und sexuelle Erwartungen anspricht.

“Our lives are but specks of dust falling through the fingers of time. Like sands of the hourglass, so are the days of our lives,” Socrates once mused—a contemplation fittingly echoed in Dancing Plague’s stark new single, “Turn to Dust.” Directed by Aux Animaux and edited by Dancing Plague’s own Conor Knowles, the accompanying monochromatic video—a haunting exploration of isolation and urban desolation—perfectly complements the track’s existential ruminations.

Shot across the shadowy, gothic architecture of Berlin and the rain-streaked urban expanse of Portland, “Turn to Dust” presents a bleak, yet beautiful visual meditation. A lone figure drifts through cavernous cityscapes, as stark chiaroscuro lighting captures their alienation and fragile humanity. Each frame underscores the sense of emotional decay and fragmented identity at the heart of Dancing Plague’s upcoming album, Domain, which is set for release just before the leaves begin their autumnal decay.

Musically, the track slowly unfurls with brooding intensity: deep bass synth pulses set a deliberate pace, gradually giving way to icy stabs that pierce the sonic gloom. Conor Knowles’s baritone vocals smolder with a quiet intensity, simultaneously vulnerable and menacing. At the heart of the track is a recurring, infectious synth melody—urgent, dramatic, and insistent like a siren signaling impending existential collapse.

Within Domain, “Turn to Dust” marks a pivotal moment of tension and release. It follows the raw confessional plea of the opening track, “With You I Am Nothing,” and precedes the anxiety-ridden introspection of “Impostor,” contributing to the album’s broader narrative arc—a profound exploration of self-alienation, emotional numbness, and disillusionment.

Knowles channels these deep emotional currents with unflinching intensity, deftly blending elements of EBM, goth, and darkwave into a cohesive, compelling soundscape. The result is more than genre homage; it’s an intimate journey into the frayed edges of personal collapse and tentative rebirth.

“Wrong Floor” immediately presents a subtle shift from ULTRA SUNN’s usual energetic and aggressive EBM sound. While it maintains the same ethos as the duo’s debut album, US, which thrived on urgent, pulsating beats designed to energize dancefloors, this latest single thoughtfully explores a more subtle and shadowy territory. Here, the baroque sigh of organ synths drapes the track in melancholic grandeur like a ballroom brimming with vampiric nobility, underpinning a minimalist structure that leans toward the sparse austerity of coldwave. The song’s pulses and bass synth, courtesy of Gaelle Souflet, are honed expertly here, reverberating with restrained intensity and conjuring memories of Wolfsheim’s darkest synthpop moods through Sam Huge’s lordly vocal delivery.

There’s still a heartbeat of classic EBM and Darkwave rhythms, yet it’s tempered, revealing a nuanced blend of darkwave’s moody melodicism, laced with stark coldness. The resulting atmosphere is less a direct club anthem than a cinematic plunge into emotional vulnerability—exactly as the band describes: a “slow-motion fall into a dreamlike state.” The lyrical inspiration, rooted deeply in Sam’s personal narrative—his mother’s struggles with addiction—adds a layer of poignant, dreamlike despair to the music’s already haunting fabric.

Visually, the track comes paired with evocative artwork from Brussels-based visual artist Moe Loko, whose handmade illustrations promise to accompany each track of the forthcoming album, amplifying the record’s themes of personal struggle and transformation. Loko’s imagery of mirrored faces and medicinal motifs aligns perfectly with the single’s surreal exploration of beautiful danger.

The Beast In You itself promises to continue this thematic introspection, with ULTRA SUNN openly diving into deeper, rawer emotions than previously explored. The album’s ten tracks, including earlier released eponymous lead single “The Beast in You,” hint at darker, more textured sonic spaces. Titles like “Fluorescent Sun,” “Guardian of Your Dreams,” and “You Came With a Blade” foreshadow a grippingly visceral journey.

Drawing upon their Belgian heritage, ULTRA SUNN proudly weaves threads of classic EBM and Belgian new beat throughout the album, a sonic homage to their country’s storied electronic legacy. Yet the duo deftly merges reverence with reinvention, carrying the aggressive, analog intensity of pioneers like Front 242 and DAF into contemporary terrain with fresh, meticulously structured compositions.

The album’s visual dimension underscores ULTRA SUNN’s interdisciplinary vision, blending electronic music with high fashion, performance art, and activism—areas where the duo have consistently made their mark. The album’s sleeve displays both Sam and Gaelle armored in the shining gleam of medieval armour attire, symbolic of confronting internal battles and transformations.

Selofan—the Athens-based duo comprised of Joanna Pavlidou and Dimitris Pavlidis—are finally crossing the Atlantic for their debut North American tour. After more than a decade spent sculpting moody and macabre synth hymns and shadowy soundscapes, the pair have carved out their own realm within the international darkwave community, deftly blending dramatic atmospheres, evocative vocals, and pulsing analog electronics.

More than just performers, Selofan curate Fabrika Records, a beacon in the contemporary underground scene. Through their imprint, they’ve nurtured a constellation of legendary acts including Lebanon Hanover and She Past Away, reinforcing their status as pioneers steering the genre’s current renaissance. Now, at long last, Selofan’s spellbinding theatrics are ready to enrapture North American audiences.

Formed in 2012, Selofan quickly distinguished themselves through their emotionally resonant narratives and meticulously layered dark synth productions. Albums like 2018’s Vitrioli brought forth dark anthems such as the pulsating “Give Me a Reason” and the chilling “Ist Die Liebe Tot?”—tracks that merge bleak introspection with irresistible rhythm. Partners in Hell (2020) deepened the duo’s exploration of shadowed sentiments, featuring standout cuts like the noir-driven “There Must Be Somebody,” the ominously cinematic “Nichts,” and “Auf Deiner Haut,” a track whose spectral sensuality shimmers with witchy allure.



Their most recent effort, Animal Mentality (2024), sees Selofan at their most refined and hauntingly expressive. The album’s standout single “Sticky Fingers” crafts a gripping narrative of doomed Alpine escapism over crisp, frost-tinged synths, while “Lucille” showcases Dimitris Pavlidis’s vocal turn in a gothic fairytale laced with perilous romance.



Selofan’s debut North American tour spans coast-to-coast, kicking off August 19 at Montréal’s Bar Le Ritz PDB before making stops in major cities including New York City, Tampa, and Atlanta. The duo then heads to Texas for dates in Houston, Dallas, and Austin, followed by a stop in Denver. They wrap up their long-awaited stateside journey on the West Coast, performing in Portland, Seattle, Riverside, and concluding on September 6 at Los Angeles’ Lodge Room in Highland Park.

British avant-garde experimental musicians Tian Qiyi return with their latest single, Dharma, graced by the legendary bass vibrations of Jah Wobble. Marking the final taste before their second LP, Songs For Workers (out June 27 via Pagoda Records), the track epitomizes their thrilling, multicultural alchemy.

Far beyond a mere family affair, Tian Qiyi unites brothers John Tian Qi Wardle and Charlie Tian Yi Wardle with their father, Jah Wobble, a cornerstone figure of post-punk and dub, melding these deep influences with the expansive cultural heritage of their mother, Zilan Liao. Their moniker itself, drawn from the brothers’ middle names: “Tian” shared between them, “Qi” (together), and “Yi” (one), is emblematic of their approach, an eclectic unity transcending musical and cultural boundaries.

Dharma flows effortlessly between transcendent Eastern psychedelia and rhythmic hypnotism. Charlie’s ethereal voice drifts seamlessly over entrancing percussion laid down by John Tian Qi, his delivery charged with an otherworldly allure. The brothers’ intricate command of traditional instrumentation enhances the track’s psychedelic essence, resulting in a rhythmically irresistible experience that fuses ancestral echoes with contemporary experimentalism. This track encapsulates a profound and magnetic cross-cultural dialogue, revealing Tian Qiyi as masters of their richly textured musical hybrid.

The lyrics dive boldly into existential escape, envisioning a realm beyond physical and linguistic confines. They articulate the disorientation and liberation found in abandoning the known for pure consciousness. Dreamlike and abstract, the imagery captures an otherworldly detachment, exploring freedom in surrendering to weightlessness and timelessness…a poetic meditation on transcending humanity’s rigid definitions and embracing boundless awareness.

“Songs For Workers is an album where we have moved away from influences and inspiration, instead embracing instinct and familiarity,” says John Tian Qi Wardle. “Our background played a crucial role, from the traditional Chinese music we learned with our grandad and mum, to the improvisational, instinctive playing we developed from performing and recording with our dad.”

On Songs For Workers, Tian Qiyi guides us across a boundless sonic steppe, merging post-punk’s experimentation with ancient Eastern melodies into a kaleidoscopic melange. Evocative instrumentation paints vivid imagery—falconry rituals, galloping horseback pursuits, and the colourful swirl of ceremonial garb—interwoven deftly within experimental textures. While Jah Wobble’s foundational jazz and dub oeuvre resonates deep beneath the surface, his sons boldly chart a far-flung musical geography, crafting an album of visionary, multicultural alchemy that is far removed from familiar terrain.
