Die Thrash Metal-Band KAKSONEN hat mit „Valo-olento“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist nach „Universumin kuningas“ (2023) das zweite Album der Finnen und wird am 17. Oktober 2025 via Inverse Records erscheinen. Vorab gibt es den Opener „Vastavoimat“ zu hören.

During Olivia Rodrigo’s performance on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury 2025, The Cure’s Robert Smith surprised the audience by appearing as a secret guest. It was a remarkable moment that only Worthy Farm could provide. The 22-year-old singer introduced Smith, calling him “perhaps the best songwriter to come out of England, a Glastonbury legend and a personal hero of mine.” This introduction came nearly midway through her set. Together, they performed “Friday I’m in Love” and “Just Like Heaven.”

It was a strange combination — a goth‑rock elder statesman and a Gen‑Z pop star — yet oddly natural. Rodrigo, whose music is infused with alt-rock elements, comes from the opposite end of the spectrum to Smith. But for this moment, they met in the Cure’s own crossover pop hits, fusing Rodrigo’s contemporary bite with Smith’s timeless jangle.

Rodrigo has been open about her alt‑rock roots. In a 2023 NME interview, she confessed she saw The Cure and Depeche Mode with her dad—early formative shows that shaped her musical DNA

Their brief musical union also underscored shared values beyond the stage. Rodrigo’s Fund 4 Good advocates reproductive rights and youth education, while Smith has long supported benefit concerts and activism.

Rodrigo’s headline set was already electric—“drivers license,” “good 4 u,” and a fireworks‑finisher of “Get Him Back.” But the secret‑guest reveal of Robert Smith, her heartfelt praise, and those two Cure classics transformed the night.

Die Heavy Rock-Band APPALOOZA hat mit „Tarantula“ eine zweite Single ihres kommenden Albums „The Emperor of Loss“ veröffentlicht. Das neue Album wurde von Arthurus Lauth bei Brown Bear Recording aufgenommen und gemixt und von Ronan Cloarec gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Sänger und Gitarrist Wild Horse.

Zuvor hat die Band mit dem Video-Clip zu „Magnolia“ eine erste Single veröffentlicht.

„Dieser Song erforscht auf subtile Weise das Thema des Stockholm-Syndroms, indem er ein tiefes Gefühl von Verlust, Isolation und existenzieller Desorientierung vermittelt“, sagt die Band. „Die Erzählerin – eine Frau – scheint emotional gestrandet zu sein, als wäre sie in den Nachwehen einer Trennung oder eines Verschwindens gefangen, das sie in der Zeit hängen gelassen hat, während sie auf etwas wartet, das sie nicht definieren kann. Mit subtiler Ironie verweist das Lied auf die symbolische Treue und Hingabe der Magnolie und verdreht sie in eine dunklere Sehnsucht: Sie sehnt sich nach ihrem Peiniger, nach genau der Person, deren Abwesenheit ihr ein Gefühl der Leere beschert hat. Als ob sie ohne ihn nicht mehr existieren würde.“

„The Emperor of Loss“ ist das vierte Album der Franzosen und folgt dem 2023er-Album „The Shining Son“ nach. Erscheinen 12. September 2025 via  Ripple Music.

But you’ve forgotten just why
There’s a moment in House of Harm’s new single, Carousel, where time seems to stretch thin, like aging film stock or breath held too long. The Boston-based trio, long masters of blurred edges and clean wounds, return with something both direct and elusive: a song that moves in circles but never settles.

“Carousel is about emotional loops,” explains vocalist Michael Rocheford, “how we keep spinning through the same moments, even as everything around us changes. It’s the feeling of disorientation when you want to move forward but can’t stop looking back.”

His voice reports with the calm of someone too tired to be surprised anymore. The lyrics trace a path lined with broken promises and unfinished sentences, where betrayal is less an event and more a state of being. Longing persists like smoke in a closed room, thick and directionless.

The music builds slowly, deliberate and unflinching, shaped by the same DNA that links The Church’s shimmer, The The’s steady gloom, and The Cure’s crystalline ache. But House of Harm never aim for imitation; they stay within reach of silence, letting space do as much as sound. Guitar lines quiver and hold. Drums snap like memory resurfacing without warning. It’s less a ballad than a slow, controlled collapse. Carousel isn’t about closure. It doesn’t point forward, or even backward. It spins…gracefully, grimly, through the kind of recollection you don’t invite, but can’t quite shake. And in that motion, House of Harm finds something close to the truth.

Caroline Bailey’s video amplifies that tension with surreal restraint. The band performs under an indifferent spotlight, surrounded by dust and distance. There’s a strange geometry to the space: corners that shouldn’t meet, shadows that move like they’ve made other plans. Somewhere between Lynchian dream logic and post-industrial purgatory, reality warps just enough to feel familiar…somewhere in a realm between Field of Dreams and Children of the Corn.

Die Progressive Death Metal-Band HAXPROCESS hat einen Labeldeal bei Transcending Obscurity Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die US-Amerikaner aus Jacksonville ihr neues Album „Beyond What Eyes Can See“ veröffentlichen. Es ist nach „The Caverns of Duat“ (2023) das zweite Album der 2020 gegründeten Band.

„Beyond What Eyes Can See“, das am 25. Juli 2025 erscheinen wird, wurde mit einem Cover-Artwork von Juanjo Castellano Rosado ausgestattet. Vorab gibt es nach dem über elf Minuten langen Opener „Where Even Stars Die“ und „The Confines of the Flesh“ mit „Sepulchral Void“ nun einen dritten Track zu hören.

Die Death/Doom Metal-Band PERISHING hat einen Labeldeal bei Transcending Obscurity Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen wird die Band aus Costa Rica ihr neues Album „Malicious Acropolis Unveiled“ veröffentlichen. Es ist das erste Album des Quartetts rund um Gitarrist Justin Sánchez (MORTUAL).

„Malicious Acropolis Unveiled“ handelt davon, dass der Tod das Epizentrum der Verbindung des Körpers mit dem Elementaren ist. Ein Release-Termin steht noch aus. Vorab gibt es den Track „Castle of the Leached Body“ zu hören.

Die Melodic Death Metal-Band DEAD END FINLAND hat nach dem Lyric-Video zu „Adrenaline“ mit dem Video-Clip zu „The Reason“ eine vierte Single ihres neuen und noch unbetitelten Albums veröffentlicht.

„Das Thema des Liedes ist eine Art lyrische Darstellung einer psychischen Krise, die das Gefühl des Verlorenseins, den Schmerz, die Suche nach Sinn und den Wunsch, das eigene Leiden zu verstehen, beinhaltet. Es gräbt sich tief in das eigene Ich ein und offenbart sowohl die menschliche Verletzlichkeit als auch die Widerstandsfähigkeit. Auch wenn man sich manchmal erschöpft und hoffnungslos fühlt, gibt es immer noch Leben und den Willen zu überleben“, sagt die Band.

Im Juni des Vorjahres  hat die Band mit „Saint & Sinner“ eine zweite Vorab-Single veröffentlicht.

„Das Lied handelt von verschiedenen Aspekten des menschlichen Geistes. Die Konfrontation zwischen Gut und Böse und das menschliche Moralverständnis“, erklärt die Band.

Im März ist mit „Innocent“ die erste Single des Albums erschienen. Als Gast wirkt Sängerin Nina Kuronen (ENDLESS EXAM) mit. Es wird das sechste Album der Finnen sein.
