Die Technical Death Metal-Band von MATT MILLER hat einen Labeldeal bei Exitus Stratagem Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen wird die Band rund um den namensgebenden Bandgründer ihr neues Album „Fiber Tormentum“ veröffentlichen. Es ist das sechste Album der US-Amerikaner.

„Fiber Tormentum“ entstand als loses Konzeptalbum, in dem es darum geht, dass Aliens unseren Planeten übernehmen wollen, und dieses Mal verändern sie die menschliche DNA, um die Menschheit zu versklaven. Release-Termin ist der 12. September 2025. Das Cover-Artwork stammt noch vom Ende 2024 verstorbenen Joshua Nassaru Ward (Ex-RAPHEUMETS WELL, Ex-XAEL, Ex-VORAATH). Mit „Descent into Violence“ gibt es nun den Opener des Albums als Guitar-Playthrough-Video.

„Der Track erforscht Themen wie Verzweiflung und Überleben und malt das Bild einer Seele, die am Rande des Abgrunds steht und in einer Welt, die gegen sie gestapelt ist, ums Überleben kämpft. Es ist ein Schrei aus der Tiefe, der die Kämpfe widerspiegelt, mit denen viele konfrontiert sind, die aber nur wenige artikulieren können“, sagt die Band.

In the thick, soupy summer twilight of Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen, Terminal 5 brimmed with electricity as Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark summoned their playful synth-pop spirit for their final, triumphant stop of a rigourous 30-date tour. Despite oppressive heat, the audience radiated excitement, matching every ounce of the band’s seemingly boundless energy. After a spirited performance from opening act Walt Disco, OMD took the stage with jubilant cheers. After all, the audience had waited months for this one.

In February 2024, as the band started gearing up for this tour, frontman Andy McCluskey voiced his excitement at incorporating material from their latest album into the sets. “It’s been six years since we learned new songs for live performances,” he said. “The songs from Bauhaus Staircase will fit beautifully into our setlist – we just have to choose which five to play, as we have to treat people to the hits as well!”

But last August, the tour got waylaid as OMD announced that the band would have to postpone due to health issues – the first time they ever had to do so in their 45-year career. OMD picked things right up again this May with a tour spanning seven weeks and thirty performances, making stops at key cities such as Washington, DC; Atlanta; Austin; Denver; Seattle; Los Angeles; Chicago; and Boston, before its thrilling finale in New York City.

This week, McCluskey, proudly flaunting his state-of-the-art bionic knee, danced with infectious exuberance and great humour, igniting cheers and joyful sing-alongs to classics like Tesla Girls and Locomotion. “This knee’s good for another 66 years!” he proudly proclaimed, doing high kicks as he clutched his guitar.

Co-founder Paul Humphreys wove subtle harmonies with precise elegance, revealing the enduring magic of their creative partnership. Martin Cooper, handling keyboards and saxophone, provided an emotional centerpiece, particularly with his soulful solo during So in Love, bringing tears to many eyes. Drummer Stuart Kershaw drove the pulse of the evening with sharp rhythms, whilst injecting fresh life into beloved tracks. The ensemble, cohesive and inspired, sounded as compelling and elegant as in their earliest days.

Messages and History of Modern (Part I) melded effortlessly, their synth-driven melodies balanced by thoughtful lyricism. A delicate, emotional journey followed as Souvenir eased gracefully into the tender longing of Joan of Arc, culminating dramatically in the sweeping power of Maid of Orleans, leaving the audience momentarily breathless. McCluskey couldn’t resist teasing Humphreys a few times, mentioning a home in France at one point (much to Humphreys’ embarrassment). It was delightful to see such affectionate camaraderie between them, after five decades.

While the band could’ve coasted on their greatest hits alone, true to their word, they peppered in newer offerings such as Kleptocracy and The Rock Drill, each song illuminating the band’s confident evolution, and received equally as enthusiastically. Veruschka added exotic rhythms, as OMD cast a hypnotic spell across the venue…and security tossed out water bottles to the parched onlookers in the pit.

Visuals amplified the night’s impact: striking montages of Louise Brooks from the film Pandora’s Box heightened the atmosphere during its namesake song, while poignant scenes from Pretty in Pink accompanied the heartfelt If You Leave. The buoyancy of Dreaming and the infectious energy of Sailing on the Seven Seas drove the evening toward a powerful conclusion, reaching a dramatic crescendo with the profound immediacy of Enola Gay, underscored by chilling imagery of atomic devastation. One couldn’t help thinking, “here we are again.”

As pioneers who inspired generations, from Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure, and Pet Shop Boys to LCD Soundsystem and CHVRCHES, OMD’s Terminal 5 performance celebrated both their storied past and present vitality.

“We’ll be back soon,” they assured the crowd, concluding the encore with a timely and powerful rendition of their 1980 masterpiece, Electricity, a song still urgently calling for cleaner energy after 45 years.

Australian artist Sean Bell sends a fresh wave of optimism surging through his latest single, Under The Blacklight, a luminous burst of post-punk pop infused with buoyant immediacy. The DIY music video captures this spirit perfectly: a playful, surreal spectacle of ultraviolet glow, skull motifs, and glinting aluminum foil, evoking the whimsical theatricality of David Byrne’s elastic theatrics in Stop Making Sense. Meldamor slithers from the desert heat of Phoenix, the brainchild of Mel and Dave Parley, a duo expertly tuned to a frequency somewhere between midnight rebellion and dawn revelation. Their heavy darkwave palette is splashed boldly with synth-soaked post-punk hues, peppered with shards of classic metal and echoes of punk fury, creating music that’s equally suited for shadow-drenched clubs and open-road anthems.

Dave Parley (formerly of cholo-goth pioneers Prayers) brings an undeniable intensity from Tijuana’s vibrant underground to Meldamor. He layers brooding synths like waves of black silk, punctuated by bursts of percussion as fierce as a street brawl, all underscored by vocal growls that threaten as much as they entice. Meanwhile, Mel Parley’s lyricism dances delicately over this tempestuous sea, her voice fluidly shifting between vulnerability and raw aggression. Love and loss intertwine; grief and existential anxiety surface without filter, unguarded and stark.

Their latest visual offering, Ride Thy Panther, unfolds like a nocturnal ritual: a stylish monochrome assault of leather and chains set against a bridge backdrop. A menacing canine guardian glares from the shadows, amplifying the tension, as Meldamor challenges the viewer from their makeshift stage and switches to a ferocious performance on a real one. The track pulses with an eclectic blend of rhythmic hip-hop beats, relentless EBM basslines, hardcore metal ferocity, and gothic theatricality. Each synth note surges irresistibly forward, building into a dancefloor siege; the vocals growl and whisper threats that thrill and chill in equal measure.

Meldamor embraces contradiction and celebrates it, their music a magnet drawing listeners towards a beautifully unsettling center. It’s a project defined by its emotional firepower, propelled by relentless rhythmic conviction and bound together by a fearless attitude. „Strange Kind of Paradise“, das neueste Album der Post Punk Band RED LORRY YELLOW LORRY, wurde heute offiziell von COP International veröffentlicht. „Strange Kind of Paradise“ war fast zwei Jahrzehnte in der Mache. Viele Fans hatten schon lange die Hoffnung aufgegeben, dass es jemals das Licht der Welt erblicken würde – doch nun ist es da, die letzte Aufnahme, die das geschichtsträchtige Werk von RED LORRY YELLOW LORRY vervollständigt.

  After hinting at what was in store with three single releases this year, Slighter has announced full details for the forthcoming In Ruins album. Die Progressive Rock-Band DARKNESS IS MY CANVAS hat einen Labeldeal bei Rockshots Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Finnen ihr neues Album „The End of Times“ veröffentlichen, welches am 1. August 2025 erscheinen wird. Nach dem Opener „Wash“ ist mit „Ink In The Water“ nun ein weietrer Track erschienen. Davor gab es nach dem Video-Clip zu „Bleed“ mit „Day Zero“ auch ein Lyric-Video.

„The End of Times“ ist das erste Album der Band, die zuvor zwei EPs veröffentlicht hatte. Vorab gibt es mit „Rejected“ noch ein weiteres Lyric-Video.

Die Atmospheric Post-Black Metal-Band CORRIDORÉ hat mit „Abandon“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist nach „Corridoré“ (2019) das zweite Album der US-Amerikaner aus Wisconsin und sei eine Meditation darüber, was es bedeutet, nicht nur die Verzweiflung loszulassen, sondern auch die Strukturen, Systeme und persönlichen Erzählungen, die sie aufrechterhalten. Das Album beschäftigt sich mit Themen wie Isolation, Trauer und der zerbrechlichen Widerstandsfähigkeit des menschlichen Geistes.

„Die Songs auf „Abandon“ wurden vor und nach der Pandemie geschrieben, in einer Zeit der Selbstreflexion und des Wandels“, erklärt Bassist und Sänger Eric Andraska. „Wie der Rest der Welt nahm auch CORRIDORÉ eine kleine Auszeit, kehrte aber mit einem neuen Fokus zurück, der zu diesem Album führte. In der Vergangenheit habe ich meine Songs in der Regel aus der dritten Person geschrieben, aber mit diesem Album, obwohl die Texte und Themen immer noch abstrakt sein wollen, ist es das persönlichste, das ich mit Texten gemacht habe. Ich wollte, dass die Platte diese Gefühle von Isolation, Einsamkeit und Trauer ‚abandonment‘ vermittelt; aber auch aus der Perspektive von Dingen ‚to abandon‘ zu betrachten, um aus dem auszubrechen, was uns quält.“

„Abandon“ wurde von Dustin Sisson (u.a. für VANISHING KIDS tätig) in den Blast House Studios gemixt und von Carl Saff (u.a. für ELDER tätig) gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Sick of Realism (u.a. für NIGHT CROWNED tätig). Release-Termin ist der 22. August 2025 via Hypaethral Records. Vorab gibt es den Track „(Become) Carrion“ zu hören.

„Das war der erste Song, den wir für dieses Album geschrieben haben“, sagt Andraska. „Der Song handelt von dem unausweichlichen Marsch auf den Tod, während wir versuchen, einen Lichtschimmer in der Dunkelheit einer Gesellschaft zu finden, die immer weniger Sinn macht und mit jedem neuen Tag unversöhnlicher und entfremdender wird. Letztendlich ist es schwer, nicht das Gefühl zu haben, dass alles ‚entglitten ist, aus dem Blickfeld‘ und zu der erschütternden Erkenntnis zu gelangen, dass wir vielleicht schon die ganze Zeit tot waren.“

Im  Juni ist mit „The Forgotten Part I“ eine weiterer Video-Clip vom Album erschienen.

„Der Song erzählt die Geschichte von Gaias Sicht darauf, wie die Menschen sie behandelt haben. In der griechischen Mythologie steht Gaia für Mutter Erde, die als erste aus dem Urchaos hervorgegangen ist. Als Reaktion auf all das, was die Menschen der Mutter Erde angetan haben, schlägt sie in Form von Tsunamis, Erdbeben, Waldbränden usw. zurück. Nachdem die Menschen erkannt haben, wie falsch sie den Planeten behandelt haben und dass die letzte Stunde naht, bereuen sie ihr egoistisches Verhalten und ihre Handlungen aus der Vergangenheit und versuchen, Gaia zu überzeugen, indem sie sich in die Religion flüchten. Aber alle Gebete bleiben ungehört, und alle Lobpreisungen werden ignoriert“, erklärt Gitarrist Andreas Ballnus.

Es ist nach „Philosophobia“ (2020) das zweite Album der internationalen Band rund um Sänger Domenic Papaemmanouil (WASTEFALL) und Gitarrist Andreas Ballnus (PERZONAL WAR).

Die Melodic Death Metal-Band LEFT HAND PATH hat nach dem Video-Clip zu „Eye for an Eye“ mit dem Lyric-Video zu „Charnel Grounds“ eine weitere neue Single veröffentlicht. Der Track erforsche die alte buddhistische Tradition der Himmelsbestattung, bei der der Körper des Verstorbenen den Elementen der Natur auf kargen Bergfriedhöfen geopfert wird. Der Song reflektiere daher auch über den Kreislauf von Leben und Tod und fange die raue Essenz von Sterblichkeit und spiritueller Transzendenz ein.

AMORPHIS haben ihre neue Single „Bones“ veröffentlicht, ein Vorgeschmack auf ihr kommendes Album „Borderland“, das am 26. September 2025 über Reigning Phoenix Music erscheinen wird. Im Gegensatz zur ersten Single des Albums, „Light And Shadow“, die einen eher aufmunternden Ton anschlug, taucht Bones“ in dunkleres, schwereres Gebiet ein. Textlich reflektiert „Bones“ den Überlebenskampf der finnischen Vorfahren und verleiht dem Song Tiefe und Gewicht.
