Mit „Opvs Noir Vol. I“ betreten LORD OF THE LOST erneut die Schatten – diesmal tiefer, dunkler und zugleich opulenter als je zuvor. Der Titel verspricht keine Zurückhaltung, und die Musik schon gar nicht: Dieses Werk ist nicht nur das erste Album der Band in ihrer neuen Formation zu sechst, sondern auch der Auftakt zu einer groß angelegten Trilogie, die in mehreren Fassungen erscheinen wird, inklusive streng limitierter Sammlereditionen.

Jeder Teil umfasst 11 Songs, zusammen also 33 Stücke, auf dem Weg zurück in das düsterste Herz der Band. Die zweite Platte ist für Ende 2025 und die dritte und letzte für Sommer 2026 geplant. Es ist das fünfte Album der US-Amerikaner aus Charlotte und ist eine thematische Vorgeschichte zu „Beyond The Gate“ (2010) und beschäftigt sich mit existenziellen Themen, von D&D inspirierter Mythologie und persönlichem Verlust.

„“Decay“ ist zu 100 % ein Konzeptalbum“, erklärt Sänger Billy Powers. „“Beyond The Gate“ hatte ein Element, das dieses Album teilt: den Talisman. Ich wusste immer, dass es dort noch mehr Geschichte gab, und war sehr gespannt darauf, mich wieder mit den Jungs zusammenzutun, um das in die Tat umzusetzen.“

„Decay“ wird am 17. Oktober 2025 via Metal Blade Records erscheinen. Vorab gibt es einen Video-Clip zum eröffnenden Titeltrack. Der Song enthält die Hauptfigur des Albums, Malus, sowie eine Figur aus „Beyond The Gate“ namens Elturiel.

„In dem Song bezieht sich der Albumtitel auf Malus‘ zerfallende Existenz, das Gefühl des Verlusts und die Hilflosigkeit und Kontrolllosigkeit, die er empfindet, weil er nichts außerhalb der Dunkelheit beeinflussen kann, in die er gestürzt wurde, sagt Powers.

Die Hardcore / Thrash Metal / Crossover-Band CAGE FIGHT hat mit „IHYG“ eine neue Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

„“IHYG“ ist eine Reaktion auf ein zutiefst traumatisches Erlebnis, das mein Leben grundlegend verändert hat. Es hat mein Selbstvertrauen und mein Selbstwertgefühl zerstört und mich in eine tiefe Krise gestürzt, aber ich bin dadurch stärker und widerstandsfähiger geworden als je zuvor. Dieses Erlebnis hat mich dazu inspiriert, zum ersten Mal Songtexte zu schreiben, woraus dieser Song entstanden ist“, sagt Sängerin Rachel Aspe.

Der Song folgt auf das 2022er-Debütalbum „Cage Fight“ nach. Dazwischen haben die Briten ihr eigenes Bier auf den Markt gebracht. Das in Zusammenarbeit mit der in Chelmsford ansässigen Mikrobrauerei Radio City Beer Works gebraute „CAGE FIGHT’s Pick Your Fighter“ ist ein Session IPA mit einem Alkoholgehalt von 4,8 %, das ausschließlich mit Citra-Hopfen gebraut wird.

Die Technical Death Metal-Band von MATT MILLER hat einen Labeldeal bei Exitus Stratagem Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen wird die Band rund um den namensgebenden Bandgründer ihr neues Album „Fiber Tormentum“ veröffentlichen. Es ist das sechste Album der US-Amerikaner.

„Fiber Tormentum“ entstand als loses Konzeptalbum, in dem es darum geht, dass Aliens unseren Planeten übernehmen wollen, und dieses Mal verändern sie die menschliche DNA, um die Menschheit zu versklaven. Release-Termin ist der 12. September 2025. Das Cover-Artwork stammt noch vom Ende 2024 verstorbenen Joshua Nassaru Ward (Ex-RAPHEUMETS WELL, Ex-XAEL, Ex-VORAATH). Mit „Effectively Neutralized“ gibt es nun einen Video-Clip.

Davor hat die Band mit „Descent into Violence“ den Opener des Albums als Guitar-Playthrough-Video veröffentlicht.

„Der Track erforscht Themen wie Verzweiflung und Überleben und malt das Bild einer Seele, die am Rande des Abgrunds steht und in einer Welt, die gegen sie gestapelt ist, ums Überleben kämpft. Das neue Album sei eher eine thematische Fortsetzung als eine direkte Weiterführung der ursprünglichen Geschichte vom Vorgängeralbum. Wie eine klassische Horror-Anthologie spinnt es eine neue Geschichte aus derselben Blutlinie wie das Original, wobei diesmal das blutige Vampirherz als roter Faden dient, um eine brandneue Erzählung einzuführen. Die Geschichte führt zurück in die moralische Hysterie der Satanic Panic und ihre Auswirkungen auf die Welt des Hardrock und Heavy Metal der 80er Jahre.

„In meinem Kopf hatte ich immer die irische Bodhrán-Trommel – ein traditionelles Instrument, das ich liebe – zu diesem Stück gehört. Ich erwähnte dies meinem Toningenieur und Freund Frank Marchand gegenüber. Es stellte sich heraus, dass Frank jahrelang als Toningenieur für die äußerst erfolgreiche traditionelle und doch moderne irische Folkband WE BANJO THREE tätig war. Er schlug vor, ihnen den Track zu schicken und die Brüder die Trommel und ein traditionelles irisches Banjo einspielen zu lassen. Der Song thematisiert die Arbeit von Frontmann Phillip Morris als vom britischen Gesundheitsdienst NHS zugelassener Fachmann für psychische Gesundheit (AMHP), der eine psychiatrische Einweisung aus beiden Perspektiven beobachtet. Der Track stellt die Krise einer jungen Frau den fragwürdigen Bewältigungsstrategien des Erzählers gegenüber.

“Alea iacta est,” which translates to “The die is cast.” Caesar spoke these words upon crossing the Rubicon River with his army in 49 BCE, a decisive act of defiance against the Roman Senate that triggered civil war. To cross the Rubicon meant to pass an irreversible point; an act from which there was no turning back.

The title of Heavy Halo’s new single with Shannon F of Light Asylum, Die Cast Down, aims past posturing and heads straight for consequence. The track locks into a tense, metallic churn: guitars bite, drums sprint, synths bristle like live wire. Over it, a voice leans forward; yearning, unafraid to show the bruise and the bloom in the same bar. It’s a steel-and-static charge that nods toward NIN’s precision and the stadium-sized crunch of peak Smashing Pumpkins, yet keeps its own city-born stance, lean and unsentimental.

Listen closely and the arrangement keeps daring the listener forward. Guitars grind, then slip into a glassy line. Beats go from rapid-fire to regimented stomp. A small, stark bridge opens, and the vocals throw a final question at the ceiling. Sparse alliteration flashes by—bones and brass, temple and tremor—then the chorus drops again, harder, heavier, sealed.

“The song is about all the sacrifices you make for your artistic, political, or moral convictions,” says McKeever.

The video extends that conviction into ritual. Picture a montage stitched from marble and myth: rites and relics, augury and ash. Ancient Rome peers through the frame. European pagan motifs surface—oak, antler, fire. Tarot cards turn like tiny tablets, each one promising fate with a flourish. It’s part museum, part midnight—esoteric yet immediate—less costume than conviction. The imagery doesn’t explain the song so much as consecrate it, like pouring a libation on the step before stepping across.

What gives Die Cast Down its charge isn’t volume or speed; it’s the choice baked into every bar. Heavy Halo and Shannon F wade right into the riverbank, shoulder-deep, and let the current take them where it must. The song plants a flag for artists who decide that risk is the rent for meaning. Caesar had his Rubicon. This crew has theirs, and the die – true to history – has already been thrown.

Heavy Halo’s story reads like a map of modern New York’s underbelly and upper mind. McKeever studied composition at Columbia by day and played airless DIY rooms by night, while Gosteffects hammered out weaponized techno at off-the-grid raves. The two would collide only after a personal spiral sent McKeever pinging from New Orleans to Los Angeles to a psychiatric ward and back again. When they finally regrouped in a former hospital-turned-studio during the pandemic, they wrote the most emotional material of their lives—songs built from pressure, claustrophobia, and the blunt belief that, without music, neither would make it.

Enter Shannon F, whose work with Light Asylum has turned heads since 2011: music hewn from drum machines and steel, with a stance that once drew comparisons to Grace Jones and Depeche Mode. With DFA Records reissuing Light Asylum’s self-titled debut and a calendar that recently included Cruel World and Cold Waves, Shannon arrives here like a flint: quick strike, bright spark. Her presence deepens the stakes.

Die Technical Death Metal-Band THE LAST OF LUCY hat nach den Videos zu „Empyreal Banisher“ und zum Opener „Wormhole“ nun auch zum Titeltrack ihres aktuellen Albums „Godform“ einen Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Es ist nach „Ashvattha“ (2017) und „Moksha“ (2022) das dritte Album der US-Amerikaner aus Kalifornien und ist am 17. Mai 2024 via Transcending Obscurity Records erschienen.

„Godform“ wurde von Dave Otero gemixt und gemastert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Par Olofsson ausgestattet.

Berlin’s Die Anstalt hit like a cold voltage down the spine. Formed in 2023, the trio of Jakob Feyerherm, Emanuele Mattei, and Carmen Redeker welds early EBM steel to jagged post-punk edges, bolting in synth-punk circuitry until the whole thing hums with a nervous, volatile energy. This is a controlled detonation, the past’s concrete dust clouding a sharply drawn present.

They now unveil Ich Will, a transmission with its lineage stamped in steel: DAF’s metronomic menace; silky, razor-wire vocals invoking Xmal Deutschland, Malaria!, and KaS Product; along with the strange pop logic of Peter Schilling. But Die Anstalt doesn’t sit politely among their influences—they kick the chair out from beneath them. The drums don’t keep time so much as rivet it into place. Guitars jab in angular bursts, while the vocal slices through like a pirate broadcast—urgent, clipped, unflinching. Born in Berlin’s Brutalist corridors, the signal carries across frostbitten Warsaw, the industrial outskirts of Zurich, and the dim back rooms of Helsinki, where the band has already left its mark.

Their visual sense is as sharp as their sound, as seen in the recent VHS-shot video with Plattenbau, filmed in a hollowed-out Neukölln space that feels ripped from a cyberpunk fever dream. The camera stutters under flashing light, catching sudden glimpses of bodies in motion, equipment stacked like forgotten relics, and a singer’s mouth forming syllables like orders barked from a distant guard tower.

On stage, Die Anstalt turns performance into confrontation. Strobes flare, faces blur, and the crowd becomes part of the machinery. With their tour about to kick into high gear, they aim straight for the gut—no hesitation, no soft landings, just a jolt of electricity you feel in your teeth.

As Die Anstalt prepares to unveil their debut LP at the end of September, they’ve just added more dates to their tour itinerary. The journey begins in July at Feel Festival and Jenseits von Millionen. They will then cross the UK in late August for two special performances. October will see them on a trek through Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, culminating in a Halloween show in Berlin. Olympia, Washington, has a way of birthing bands that sound like they’ve been marinating in rainwater and road trips. Waves Crashing (Josh Calisti on guitar and vocals, Bryce Albright on drums, and Zach Olson on bass) aren’t here to reinvent the wheel; they’re here to let it roll fast, skip a curb, and spray you with whatever’s left in the puddle.

Calisti’s been on the move since New Jersey, detouring through Denver before finding a home among the moss and fog of the Pacific Northwest. Albright hails from Reno, while Olson never strayed far from Washington soil. Together, they’ve cut their teeth in the region’s alternative scene, building a steady trail of releases and tours that led to their first full-length, Effection. Written in Calisti’s woodland hideaway and recorded at Joshua Charette’s Elma studio, the album features Charette adding bass and synth, Beatrix Sky on backing vocals, and a Pablo Martin (Lulu Lewis, Tom Tom Club) remix of Comatose for extra voltage.

On paper, Effection nods toward the halcyon days of early ’90s PNW indie rock, brushes against the halcyon lens of British shoegaze, and takes cues from modern dream rock. On record, it’s less about polite homage and more about collision: crystalline riffs that unravel into distortion, airy vocal lines swallowed by tidal waves of fuzz. The melodies carry a certain tenderness, but they’re never fragile; they swell, break, and reform with purpose.

The band threads in themes of mortality, mental strain, and daily anxieties without dipping into preachiness. You hear it in the propulsion of the drums, in guitars that suddenly flare skyward, in basslines that ground the whole thing when it threatens to drift. One track will build patiently, like a cloudbank on the horizon; the next will open wide in a rush of sunlight before collapsing back into haze.

The record opens with Prelude, a shoegaze instrumental anchored by a bassline that walks with quiet authority. With a siren-like wail, guitars swell like a tide against steel pylons, measured yet insistent, pulling the listener into a liminal place before the first lyric arrives.

Comatose steps forward in gauzy layers, taking cues from the My Bloody Valentine and Ride playbook but letting the air breathe between the chords. The lyrics drift between strange wonder and a subtle dread—like glimpsing something in the corner of your eye and deciding not to look again. It’s a song about balancing on the fine line between alertness and surrender, with the band allowing the rhythm to steady the weight of that tension.

With Parts of Me featuring Beatrix Sky, the mood lightens. Tender male and female voices braid together, bright as afternoon sun on glass, while guitars spiral in a haze touched by psychedelia. It feels both loose and precise, a meeting point between The Cure, Pixies, The Dandy Warhols, and Echo & The Bunnymen. The words turn over the idea of sharing life in all its contradictions: shortages and surpluses, joy and trouble, holding onto the idea that love is both a shelter and a mirror.

Sea of Change swings back to the heavier shoegaze strain, with a thick bassline and a waterfall deluge of guitars, recalling Ride and The Veldt’s rich textures. The verses, sung in an Elliott Smith hush, give way to a chorus that surges upward without apology. Lyrically, it’s the push for renewal after a long stall…the need to step out of a low-lit room into air that hasn’t been breathed yet. The repetition is purposeful, hammering the will to move forward until it sticks.

In My Head bursts open with screeches that could’ve been lifted from an overloaded effects pedal before locking into a guitar riff built for 90s college radio. Think Flaming Lips in a tighter mood, or TV On the Radio stripped of polish. The words wander through cosmic analogies and self-questioning, tumbling over the restless churn of thought. The refrains catch like recurring dreams…different each time, but always familiar.

Treading Water leans slightly into post-grunge muscle with this driving bass and jangly guitar that swells into an overdrive, yet is still interlaced with college rock elements of The Ocean Blue and Mid-80s Cure. Lyrically, it’s the sound of holding on without a plan, riding a slow current that could either carry you to shore or out into open water. Brief flashes of comfort punctuate the unease, but the current keeps pulling.

The Crowd collides slowly like waves on the shore, with crashing guitars and a languid daydream vocal, reflecting on being submerged in the collective hum of modern life—voices stacked on voices, signals crossing, noise building. There’s both pride and frustration in trying to stand out while the tide of attention shifts with every second. The lyrics wrestle with the push to speak up and the pull to step back, while the sustained guitars surge forward, standing out with heartfelt passion.

The closing Coda returns to wordless territory, a final instrumental drenched in reverb that flutters like birds in the summer sky, that climbs and arcs like the last light disappearing from a street at dusk. It doesn’t resolve so much as dissolve, leaving the album’s halcyon aftertaste suspended in the air.

Sinclair Noire storms from the shadows with a corrosive blend of deathrock gloom and gothic rock grandeur, with touches of hardcore punk fervor and industrialized fury, carving out a grim atmosphere laced with vivid horror imagery. Anchored by Ethan Stafford’s confrontational charisma, bassist Stephen Fernandez’s brooding rhythms, and Von Dasa’s relentless percussion, the trio transforms primal intensity into a visceral, harrowing spectacle.

Their debut LP, Bone Orchard, plunges headlong into a sinister carnival of violence, corruption, and decay, dissecting themes of media voyeurism and defiant individualism beneath society’s oppressive gaze. Sinclair Noire elevates their gothic punk bravado into provocative artistry—brash, daring, and unapologetic. Their music pulsates at the intersection of morbid aesthetics and caustic ferocity, crafting a searing commentary on control, complicity, and moral collapse.

The album opener “Envenomed” ignites with a sharp snare blast, unleashing a torrent of icy, angular guitars propelled by Fernandez’s propulsive basslines. Stafford spits venomous lyrics, fusing deathrock gloom with hardcore intensity. The repeated mantra—“Envenomed bloodstream”—feels torn from a cryptic incantation, conjuring images of witches besieging an abandoned mansion: a furious, elemental stormfront opening the record.

The title track, “Bone Orchard,” exhales a ghostly mist of chorus-drenched guitars, their spectral shimmer anchored by a weighty post-punk bassline. Stafford seamlessly shifts from savage yelps to mournful murmurs reminiscent of Robert Smith, deepening the album’s psychological dive. As cymbals crash like distant thunder, a haunting guitar lead emerges and fades, mirroring rain slowly eroding gravestones at midnight.

“Hush” begins with crunching snares and serrated chords framing an ominous chant—“Hush… hush”—before erupting into driving, rhythmic fury. Guitars intertwine in subtle counter-melody as Stafford’s voice glides between growls and purrs, amplifying imagery of barbed-wire intimacy: “The rust scraping into me / Wrapped around my neck.” A masterclass in tension and release.

Gothic chimes toll to introduce the melancholic tempest of “Hate and Heroin.” Guitars swell majestically over a pulse-like kick drum, conjuring doom beneath the floorboards. Stafford’s vocals soften into brooding reflection as he explores cycles of addiction. Evoking the Cataclysmic Sounds of Ballet-era Christian Death and early Mephisto Walz, alongside the oppressive grandeur of Pornography-period Cure, this track stands as a darkly melodic high point.

Analogue synths pulse like flickering neon before plunging into the bleak synthesis of deathrock gloom and synth-punk urgency that defines “Strictly Perverse.” Stafford’s sinister whisper”—heightens the decadent, haunted-carnival atmosphere— while the rhythm swaggers with dungeon-club allure, equal parts menace and sensuality.

On “Chemical Apes,” Stafford returns to explosive vocal delivery bordering on hardcore aggression. Circular riffs and urgent drums give way briefly to a militaristic snare march. An eerie lull paints stark images of urban decay—before the band resumes their sonic assault, portraying societal collapse glimpsed through shattered factory windows.

“Vampire Drowns” snakes in with a buoyant bassline winding through glacial guitar textures before unleashing a distorted bass solo, dark and compelling. Stafford’s theatrical vocals tilt toward black-metal dramatics, underpinning macabre imagery: “I watched the vampire drown / From choking upon the excess of our blood.” Elegantly balancing menace and sophistication, this track flicks stage lights on and off, illuminating visions of fangs, velvet, and decay.

Dark synth pulses inaugurate the finale, “Nü Crime,” steering the record firmly into industrial territory. Mechanized guitars whirl like stuck bone saws, recalling The Downward Spiral, while minimalist lyrics freeze-frame the narrative of surveillance-induced paranoia.

The video for Nü Crime encapsulates Sinclair Noire’s mission, confronting themes of surveillance anxiety, toxic masculinity, female degradation, and erotic guilt. It inhabits a bleak, noir-infused universe reminiscent of True Detective’s moral ambiguity and Suicide’s minimalist darkness. Ethan Stafford’s unsettling video amplifies these themes, presenting gritty visuals influenced by grindhouse aesthetics. Essentially, it’s a stylized snuff film, a provocative and NSFW artifact.

Sinclair Noire exudes a fierce DIY intensity, their unwavering dedication apparent in every abrasive riff and striking visual. They conjure a relentless force of Gothic Rock, brandishing a scythe’s razor-sharp edge that slices through the apathy of modern culture with precision and no apologies.

„Schon vor dem Songwriting wusste ich, dass Vogelgesang die Basis der Songs sein würde. Das erste Gitarrenriff ist im Prinzip der Gesang einer Lerche. Wenn man sich „Rook“ anhört, ist diese Melodie der Gesang der Krähe. Ich habe alle Tracks um die Rhythmen und Melodien von Vögeln herum geschrieben, die ich recherchiert oder in der freien Natur gehört habe.“

GRAILKNIGHTS haben den Titelsong ihres neuen Albums „Forever“ als Stream geteilt und kündigen den Track so an:

URNE müssen die für angekündigten September 2025 Konzerte in Deutschland verschieben:

„Es tut uns leid, aber aufgrund von Umständen außerhalb unserer Kontrolle können wir die „Harken The Waves“-Tour diesen September nicht machen. Die guten Nachricht: Es gibt schon die neuen Termine für Februar 2026 . Wir werden mit neuen Songs und großartigen Konzerten wiederkommen. Planänderungen sind nie gut, doch wir sind sehr dankbar für eure Geduld und Unterstützung. Wir können es kaum erwarten, euch im Februar zu sehen!“

Im Juui teilte die Band den Song „Harken The Waves“, für den sie mit Troy Sanders von MASTODON zusammengearbeitet hat.

 

Die Band ist überzeugt von den Qualitäten des Songs:

„Wir glauben, dass dies einer der besten Songs ist, die wir je geschrieben haben. Außerdem hatten wir das Glück, dass uns Metal-Ikone Troy Sanders von der legendären Band MASTODON sein Gesangstalent zur Verfügung gestellt hat“, erklärt URNE-Frontmann Joe Nally. „Wir sind damit aufgewachsen, Troy zu hören und ihn live zu sehen. Jemanden wie ihn zu haben, der nicht nur singt, sondern eine wichtige Rolle in dem Song übernimmt und ihn auf eine andere Ebene hebt, bedeutet uns sehr viel.“

Erst im Februar hatten URNE weitere neue Songs veröffentlicht und zu „Throes Of Grief“ ein Lyricsvideo sowie ihre BLACK SABBATH–Coverversion von „I“ geteilt. Bei „Thrones Of Grief“ ist AVATAR Gitarrist Tim Öhrström als Gast zu hören, warum sich die Band für „I“ als Coversong entschied, erklärt Sänger Joe Nally:

„I‘ will ich bestimmt seit 15 Jahren covern; der Song ist einer der wuchtigsten SABBATH-Songs überhaupt, Dio in seiner bösesten und verruchtesten Form. Dio kann niemend das Wasser reichen, also musste ich mich dem Song auf eine andere Art nähern. Es war eine Herausforderung, aber ich bin an ihr gewachsen. Es ist bald 15 Jahre her, dass Ronnie James Dio gestorben ist, aber er ist nicht vergessen. Dies ist unsere Art, ihm unseren Respekt zu zollen und uns für die Musik zu bedanken.“

Am 26. September 2025 veröffentlichen REVOCATION eine neue Platte: „New Gods, New Masters“ erscheint via Metal Blade Records. Nun hat die Death Metal-Band mit „Sarcophagi Of The Soul“ einen weiteren neuen Song geteilt.

Mit einem Video zu „Cronenberged“ stellten REVOCATION im Juni einen weiteren Song daraus vor, für den Song hat die Band mit Jonny Davy von JOB FOR A COWBOY zusammengearbeitet.

Schon im Februar teilten REVOCATION ein Video zu „Confines Of Infinity“, hier ist Travis Ryan of CATTLE DECAPITATION als Gast dabei:

 

„New Gods, New Masters“ das fünfte Album der Progressive Death Metal-Band und wurde in einer neuen Besetzung aufgenommen: Neben Bandgründer Gitarrist und Sänger Dave Davidson gehören nun auch Gitarrist Harry Lannon und Bassist Alex Weber zur Band, weiterhin dabei ist Drummer Ash Pearson.

Der Albumtitel erklärt Davidson so:

„Es scheint, als wäre der Wunsch, Götter zu verehren, in unserer DNA. Doch unser wachsendes  Verständnis der Natur und des Universums und Wissenschaft, lassen die Religionen der alten Götter allmählich bedeutungslos werden. Ich glaube jedoch, dass wir unsere alten Götter durch neue ersetzt haben, indem wir die Technologie verehren. Ich bin fasziniert von der Entwicklung der künstlichen Intelligenz, mache mir aber große Sorgen darüber, wohin sie die Menschheit führen wird. Vieleicht in eine technologische Dystopie oder die  Auslöschung unserer Spezies?“

„New Gods, New Masters“ wurde von Dav Davidson produziert, Mix und Mastering kommen von Jens Bogren. Das Artwork ist von Paolo Girardi.

LORD OF THE LOST schlagen ein neues Kapitel auf: „Opvs Noir Vol. 1“ ist nicht nur der Titel des kommenden Werks, sondern zugleich der Auftakt einer Albentrilogie. Jede der drei Platten enthält elf Stücke, die die schönen Seiten der Dunkelheit erforschen wollen, wie Frontmann Chris Harms erklärt:

„Dunkelheit, Melancholie, Einsamkeit – alles Worte, die oft negativ besetzt sind, die wir mit Gefahr, Traurigkeit und Verlust assoziieren, und das nicht ohne Grund. Aber Dunkelheit kann auch Geborgenheit sein, Melancholie das warme und sentimentale Gefühl unserer Erinnerungen, und Einsamkeit wird zu notwendiger Stille, Frieden und innerer Einkehr. OPVS NOIR ist ein Reiseführer, oder vielleicht auch ein Reisebericht, durch die dunklen Seiten unserer inneren Welt, die sich so oft genau im Spannungsfeld zwischen dem bewegen, was wir emotional als positiv oder negativ einstufen. Und mit Vol. 1 ist das alles erst der Anfang dieser dreiteiligen Reise…“

„Opvs Noir Vol. 1“ erscheint am 8. August 2025 via Napalm Records auf CD, Vinyl, Kassette, digital sowie in einer Reihe von limitierten Sonderausgaben.

Als vierte Single wählte die Band den Track „Bazaar Bizarre“ aus, Frontmann Chris Harms erklärt, was den Song besonders macht: 

„‚Bazaar Bizarre‘ ist als Opener für ein Album zu lang, zu komplex und zu schräg, für mich fast wie eine Mischung eines akustischen Wimmelbilds von Hieronymus Bosch, ‚Apocalypse Now‘ und dem Untergrund-Trollmarkt des ‚Hellboy‘-Universums. Alles tut weh und ist irgendwie schauderhaft, aber gleichzeitig zu faszinierend, um fliehen zu wollen. Wir hätten auch einen einfachen und zugänglichen Song als Opener wählen können, aber das wollten wir nicht. Wir wollten einen langen Kinotrailer für die Ohren, nach dessen Hören sofort klar ist, in welche Welt alle drei Teile von OPVS NOIR einen entführen. Und ‚Bazaar Bizarre‘ deckt akustisch, und im Musikvideo auch visuell, die Bandbreite unserer kommenden Trilogie perfekt ab.“

Als drittes Video teilten LORD OF THE LOST nun „Light Can Only Shine In The Darkness“, für den SONG haben LOTL mit WITHIN TEMPTATION zusammen. Chris Harms berichtet, wie es dazu kam: 

Kurz nachdem wir gemeinsam mit WITHIN TEMPTATION die letzte Show der 2022er IRON MAIDEN Tour spielten, entstand ‚Light Can Only Shine In The Darkness‘: einVersuch, einen Hybrid-Song für WITHIN TEMPTATION und LORD OF THE LOST zu kreieren, und damit auch ein Duett für Sharon und mich. Dass das nun geklappt hat, ist die Erfüllung eines ganz großen Wunsches, denn ein Duett mit Sharon steht, nein stand, seit über einer Dekade weit oben auf meiner Bucket List!“

Anfang Juli haben LOTL mit „Ghosts“ ein weiteres Video veröffentlicht. Am Song wirkt außerdem Cellistin Tina Guo mit.

Die erste Single „My Sanctuary“ teilte die Band im März, anschließend folgte der Clip „I Will DIe In It“. 

Im Oktober 2025 sind LORD OF THE LOST gemeinsam mit FEUERSCHWANZ auf Tour:FEUERSCHWANZ + LORD OF THE LOST – Tourdaten 2025 bei vampster.

Die japanische Metalcore-Band CRYSTAL LAKE stellt ihre neue Single „Crossing Nails“ vor – der Track stammt von einem neuen Album, das Anfang 2026 veröffentlicht werden soll.

 

Derzeit tourt die Band durch Europa, wo sie auf  Festivals und als Headliner auftritt – angekündigt war eine Co-Headliner-Tour mit ATTILA; ATTILA haben allerdings sämtliche Auftritte kurzfristig abgesagt.

Die japanische Modern Metal- / Rock-Band COLDRAIN stellt mit „Chasing Shadows“ einen neuen Song vor:

 

Im März hatte die Band einen Vertrag mit Century Media Records abgeschlossen und einen neuen Track veröffentlicht: „Incomplete“ kann man auf allen gängigen Streaming-Plattformen hören.

Beide Songs werden auch auf der kommenden EP „Optimize“ zu hören sein, sie soll im Oktober 2025 veröffentlicht werden.  Im November und Dezember steht allerdings eine Europatour an.

Interview with Claudia Nottebella (keyboard/vocals), Alessandro Belluccio (vocals/programming) and Adriano Belluccio (bass guitar) from Ash Code Dark times are behind Italian Dark Wave band ASH CODE. After several successful years, everything suddenly threatened to collapse. Events such as the COVID pandemic and personal tragedies almost led Claudia, Alessandro and Adriano to give up on continuing as a band.

BATTLE BEAST haben Details zu ihrem kommenden Album bekannt gegeben: „Steelbound“ erscheint am 17. Oktober 2025. Heute teilte die Band mit „Here We Are“ einen weiteren Song ihres siebten Studioalbums:

Im Juni präsentierten BATTLE BEAST einen Clio zum Titelsong  „Steelbound„:

Anfang Mai stellte die Band den neuen Song „Last Goodbye“ mit einem Musikvideo bei YouTube vor.

Eine weitere Headline-Tournee durch Europa haben BATTLE BEAST schon vor einiger Zeit angekündigt. Station machen werden die Finnen dabei auch in Hamburg, Berlin, Filderstadt, Wiesbaden, Hannover, Leipzig, Nürnberg, München, Saarbrücken und Oberhausen. In Österreich gibt es eine Show in Wien, in der Schweiz steht Pratteln auf dem Programm.

Im Vorprogramm mit dabei sind DOMINUM sowie MAJESTICA.

BATTLE BEAST wollen auf der Tour auch neue Songs präsentieren, wie Bassist Eero Sipilä erklärt – derzeit arbeite man am siebten Album:

„Wir brennen darauf, mit den neuen Songs auf Tour zu gehen und allen zu zeigen, woran wir gearbeitet haben. Alles an dieser Tour wird größer, besser und mehr sein, als wir es je zuvor getan haben. Drei Jahre nach dem Studioalbum „Heretic Tongue“ haben WUCAN ein neues Studioalbum angekündigt: „Axioms“, das vierte Studioalbum der Band aus Dresden, erscheint am 29. August 2025 über Long Branch Records. 

„Der Titel Axioms steht für die grundlegenden Überzeugungen, auf denen wir als Band aufbauen – und die wir nicht mehr in Frage stellen,“ erzählt Bandleaderin Francis Tobolsky. „Nach zehn Jahren gemeinsamer Arbeit, davon sieben in dieser Besetzung, gab es Momente, in denen alles hätte kippen können. Dieses Album entstand in einer Zeit, in der sich das Leben jedes Einzelnen von uns stark verändert hat – und es trägt die Spuren dieser persönlichen Erfahrungen. Dass wir heute noch gemeinsam Musik machen, ist kein Zufall und keine Frage von Bequemlichkeit – es ist unser Axiom.“

Nun haben WUCAN eine weitere Single geteilt und ein Video zu „Pipe Dreams“ veröffentlicht:

Sie folgt auf die Auskopplung „KTNSAX„. Francis Tobolsky sagt über „KTNSAX“:

„Farm some time, watch it grow‘ – dieser Satz kam mir an einem Montagmorgen im September 2024 in den Sinn, nachdem ich zwei Wochen lang bettlägerig war und täglich zwölf Stunden vor meinem Handy verbracht hatte. Zwölf Stunden, in denen ich glaubte, auf dem Laufenden zu sein: die neuesten Nachrichten, trendige Memes, die täglichen Fotos vom Mittagessen meiner Freunde – und doch völlig abgekoppelt von der Welt um mich herum. Das politische Klima, Manipulation in den sozialen Medien, Filterblasen, KI – das waren Dinge, die ich verarbeiten musste. Auf den ersten Blick scheint alles so bequem: Die Bibliothek der Welt in unseren Händen, die Möglichkeit, an jedem Gespräch teilzunehmen, Teil des Diskurses zu sein. Und doch verstecken wir uns hinter sorgfältig kuratierten Bildern, Profilen auf Plattformen, geben vor, jemand zu sein, der wir nicht sind … und fallen vielleicht sogar auf die Fassaden und profitgierigen Illusionen anderer herein.

Am Ende bleibt die paradoxe Wahrheit: Selig sind die Unwissenden.

Bereits im März teilte die Band die Single „Irons in the Fire“ und einem Video bei YouTube zurück.

„Ich habe ‚Irons In The Fire‘ als kleinen Toast auf all diejenigen geschrieben, die sich von den Widrigkeiten in der Welt nicht unterkriegen lassen und ihr Ding durchziehen,“ erzählt Sängerin Francis. „Irons in the Fire“ ist ein klassischer Metal/Hardrock Song, aber der Teufel steckt im Detail. Harmoniewechsel, das Thereminsolo und kleine Breaks machen es dann doch zu einem klassischen WUCAN-Song. Der Song behandelt Beständigkeit und Ausdauer in der Leidenschaft oder Berufung die jeder Mensch individuell für sich sieht. Die Message, die daraus entsteht: Gib nicht auf und bleibe dir selbst treu. Wie sagt man? „Diamanten werden unter Druck gemacht“? So ähnlich fühlt es sich doch manchmal an, wenn man ein Ziel verfolgt und Hindernisse und Hürden nehmen muss, um seinen Traum zu erfüllen. Jeder Rückschlag formt uns, jede Niederlage birgt eine Chance in sich und es braucht eisernen Willen und eine gute Portion Leidenschaft, diesem Druck standzuhalten.“

TRIVIUM veröffentlichen drei neue Songs, die EP „Struck Dead“ erscheint am 31. Oktober 2025. Einen der neuen Songs hat die Band bereits geteilt und ein Video zu „Bury Me With My Screams“ ins Netz gestellt:

 

Bassist fasst zusammen, was sich in den vergangenen zwei Jahren bei der Band getan hat und wie es zu der EP kam:

„2023 war für uns der Moment gekommen, das nächste Level anzugehen – unser Hangar Space, den wir vor einiger Zeit gekauft hatten, sollte endlich zum vollwertigen Studio ausgebaut werden. Über Mark Lewis kam der Kontakt zu Designer Roger D’Arcy zustande – und dann ging’s los: ein kompletter Umbau, der sich über ein ganzes Jahr ziehen sollte. Während die Bauarbeiten liefen, steckten wir gleichzeitig mitten in den Proben zur Poisoned Ascendancy Tour, mit der wir das 20-jährige Jubiläum von Ascendancy gefeiert haben. Aus einem Track wurden zwei… dann drei.“

„Struck Dead“ wurde von Trivium produziert und mit Mark Lewis in den Hangar Studios der Band in Orlando, Florida, aufgenommen. Gemischt und gemastert wurde sie von Josh Wilbur.

Klassischer US Metal aus Berlin: BITTER PRICE stellen mit der 4-Track EP „The Orwhohaus Tapes“ ihre ersten Songs vor,  die Demo Kassette ist auf Bandcamp erhältlich. Geplant ist außerdem eine Vinyl-Auflage, die Band sucht derzeit nach einem Label.

Produziert wurde die EP von Danilo Garbe, der das Recording im Proberaum der Band, im Orwohaus in Berlin. Das Mixing kommt von Danilo Garbe und Stephan Kern, der sich anschließend auch um das Mastering kümmerte.

Aktuell suchen BITTER PRICE nach Auftritten, im Herbst wollen die Berliner mit der Arbeit am Debüt-Album beginnen.

Die Heavy Metal / Hard Rock-Band FIRMAMENT hat nach „A Legend Of The Fall“ mit „Brother of Sleep“ einen zweiten Track ihres kommenden Albums „For Centuries Alive“ veröffentlicht. Es ist nach „We Don’t Rise We Just Fall“ (2023) das zweite Album der Deutschen aus Leipzig, die dazwischen mit MIDNIGHT PREY die gemeinsame Split „Gathered Under Open Skies“ (2023) veröffentlicht haben.

„For Centuries Alive“ wurde von Eric „Kalli“ Kaldschmidt (MASTERS OF DISGUISE, ABANDONED) gemixt und von Bart Gabriel (u.a. für CRYSTAL VIPER tätig) gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Ryan T. Hancock (u.a. für TERMINALIST tätig). Release-Termin ist der 19. September 2025 via Dying Victims Productions.
