30.09.2025 - STELLAR CIRCUITS: neues Album „Phantom :: Phoenix“ – Video zu „Corridor“

Sie folgt auf die Single „I See Your Spirit„.

Oktober 2025 via Scarlet Records.

30.09.2025 - Toronto Post-Punk Duo TRAITRS Return With First New Single in Four Years, “Burn in Heaven”
Toronto’s internationally acclaimed TRAITRS return with their first new material since 2021’s Horses in the Abattoir, unveiling the seraphic new single Burn In Heaven. Released on September 26, 2025, the track heralds a new beginning, serving as the lead single from their forthcoming full-length album, Possessor. Since their last album, the band’s sound has grown more potent and unmistakably more mature—proof that their time away from the studio has been anything but idle.
Like its title suggests, Burn In Heaven is soaring and elegiac, burning with fiery passion and solemn exaltation. The guitars churn along, augmenting the somber melody and dynamic vocals that are both solemn and yearning, evoking a sound that lies somewhere between Brett Anderson and Robert Smith, while delivering lyrics poised between anguish and grandeur. The result is a song that feels at once sacred and hedonistic—a dance party in a cathedral—where shadows move in step with light. Live or in studio, like the entirety of TRAITRS’ catalog, Burn In Heaven never loses its potency—its impact remains undiluted, a testament to the band’s ability to channel raw emotion into anthems that feel both intimate and vast.
The single’s artwork draws from cinema and theatre history, featuring a stark black-and-white still of Isabelle Adjani in her role in The House of Bernarda Alba. The choice is fitting: Adjani’s haunting gaze and the austere, shadow-drenched setting amplify the song’s tension between sanctity and suffering. Much like “Burn In Heaven” itself, the image feels both sacred and forbidden—an echo of gothic devotion and unquiet desire.
Order Burn In Heaven, the B-side This Sick Kiss on 7” and CD via Bandcamp.
And listen to “Burn In Heaven” on Spotify below:
Burn in Heaven makes a triumphant return for Traitrs, following years of international touring to sold-out audiences across Europe and North America, further cementing the band’s reputation as one of the most vital forces in today’s post-punk and darkwave resurgence.
To celebrate the release of “Burn In Heaven” and build anticipation for Possessor, TRAITRS are embarking on an expansive international run that will carry them from Italy through France, Scandinavia, Germany, the Balkans, and all the way to Mexico City. The tour begins October 24th in Rome at Reload SpeakEasy and winds through over twenty cities—including Stockholm, Paris, Athens, Berlin, Vienna, Zagreb, Belgrade, Sofia, and Tbilisi—before culminating on November 28th at Circo Volador in Mexico City.

30.09.2025 - Bay Area New Wave Rockers Candy Whips Release “I Only Have Eyes For You” Covers EP

You are here and so am IMaybe millions of people go byBut they all disappear from view
And I only have eyes for you
The 1950s were a fever dream of juke joints and soda fountains thick with smoke, chrome, and longing. Voices floated from street corners: The Flamingos, The Penguins, The Chordettes, The Cadets. Their harmonies, as sweet as soda pop and as strange as fevered youth, seeped into the bloodstream of popular culture. Punk, post-punk, and bubbly synthpop artists would seize these relics years later, bending them into new shapes, at once mocking, mangling, and celebrating them. Every decade, some restless soul has returned to those spectral refrains to see what secrets they still whisper. Now Candy Whips take their turn, carrying the flame into the circuitry of the present.
Wendy Stonehenge, best known for glam-rock outfit Glitter Wizard, created Candy Whips as a vessel for sounds too unruly for his main band. When the stages went silent during the pandemic, he took inspiration from Mute Records’ Daniel Miller and Frank Tovey, whose late-1970s “virtual band” Silicon Teens reimagined pop through circuitry. In that spirit, Stonehenge drew Kraftwerk’s robo-pulse into Oakland bedrooms, soldering punk and synthpop into a gleaming, improbable alloy.
“I’ve always been a big oldies fan,” Stonehenge says of Moonlight, his new EP of ‘50s standards. The tracklist is a roll call of jukebox ghosts: Gene Chandler’s Duke of Earl, The Penguins’ Earth Angel, Marty Wilde’s Bad Boy. He begins with The Flamingos’ number I Only Have Eyes For You, a song already drenched in dream, now rendered uncanny through filters and sequencers.
“This is probably my favorite doo-wop song and the first I recorded for the album,” he explains. “I feel like it really sets the tone for the whole EP… When I was a kid, it was always on the radio. These days, oldies radio doesn’t really exist, so you have to actively seek it out.”
The version is deeply Lynchian. One can imagine this cover looping in Blue Velvet while Dorothy Vallens stares at the ceiling fan, or echoing across the red curtains of the Roadhouse. The harmonies are intact, but they are refracted like moonlight seen in an oil slick. It feels less like a cover than a portal, an old American ballad wired into a dream sequence. Though many jaded modern bands might be tempted to smother such songs in sarcasm or irony, Candy Whips keeps faith with the tender romance of the original version of I Only Have Eyes For You…an act that feels almost rebellious in itself in these troubled times. And perhaps that’s fitting, for were the Cold War years really ever free of trouble themselves?
“My choice of tracks is more of an intentional thing,” Stonehenge continues. “I’ve noticed that I’m particularly drawn to doo wop and old vocal groups… A lot of these songs are so ingrained in us that it’s easy to overlook how creative and weird they were in their day…. I think I’ve brought some of that weirdness to the forefront.”
Elsewhere, Marvin and Johnny’s Cherry Pie spins into a mechanized midnight dance; The Cadets’ Stranded in the Jungle leaps with staccato jolts, its slapstick vaudeville turned surreal cabaret; Mr. Sandman becomes a lullaby for infants dreaming in circuits; Earth Angel is processed into a mechanized serenade, a robot’s prayer to love.
“If I could turn young people on to this old music, that would be amazing,” Stonehenge professes. “It sometimes bums me out that this stuff isn’t as ubiquitous as it was in my childhood. This era is the well that most good music sprung from!”
And so Moonlight arrives: a séance where candy-striped nostalgia shakes hands with the uncanny. The Flamingos once sang that the world could be falling apart and still “I only have eyes for you.” In Candy Whips’ hands, the sentiment becomes stranger, sharper: love as an old broadcast transmitted into the future, fragile, eternal, and humming with electricity.
Moonlight is out now via Kitten Robot. Listen to Moonlight below and order the album here.

29.09.2025 - Kula Shaker Transforms NYC’s Irving Plaza into a Temple of Psychedelic Sound — US Tour Rolls Onward

At the moment that you wake from sleepingand you know it’s all a dreamWell the truth may come in strange disguisesNever knowing what it means.
The autumnal equinox is supposed to be about balance, a cosmic see-saw where the day finally admits the night is winning. At Irving Plaza, Kula Shaker took that symmetry, stuffed it into a battered Marshall stack, and detonated it across Manhattan. The stage looked like a shrine built by a psychedelic carpenter: colorful malas drooped over guitars and amps, beads dangling like electric rosaries, waiting for Crispian Mills to strike the first chord and send the faithful tumbling into ecstasy.
Photo: Alice Teeple
Mills took on the role as mischievous ringmaster, steering the night with flamboyant abandon. At his side, Alonza Bevan grounded the music with basslines that beat like a second heart. Winterhart drove the drums with a near-shamanic force, while Darlington, the cosmic organist, unleashed synth swells and keyboard runs that cascaded like stained glass breaking into light. Together, the four locked into a form both seamless and electric.
Photo: Alice Teeple
They opened with Great Hosannah from Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts, and the song roared like a choir shot through with kerosene. Mills’s guitar playing was already aflame, sparks practically jumping off the strings. Alonza Bevan anchored the storm on bass, every note thick as wet rope, while Paul Winterhart’s drumming galloped, shamanic and insistent. Jay Darlington sat behind his keys like a wizard with a stack of spellbooks, dialing up the psychedelic projections that sprawled across the walls in amoebic patterns.

The setlist was a veritable collage of eras and tempers: Idon’twannapaymytaxes and Ophelia from 1st Congregational Church of Eternal Love and Free Hugs rubbed shoulders with the hallucinatory folk of Into the Deep.
Their cover of Hawkwind’s Hurry On Sundown shimmered like a love letter to psychedelic lineage, while Mystical Machine Gun folded in a snarling snippet of Black Sabbath’s War Pigs, reminding us of the roots of both rage and joy in amplified sound. Watching Mills play guitar is, in itself, a crazy religious experience, as if he is trying to embody the flurry of noise itself.
Photo: Alice Teeple
The old tracks landed like well-aimed prayers: Knight on the Town, Shower Your Love, Grateful When You’re Dead / Jerry Was There. These were hymns from K (1996), still capable of making an audience holler as though Clinton were still president and Britpop hadn’t yet curdled. But it was the newer material that shocked the room into the realization that this band isn’t coasting on incense and nostalgia. The masses sang them back with the same lung-shredding passion as Hey Dude.
They launched into one of their biggest hits, Tattva, which, for many 90s teens, was a brief introduction to Sanskrit and Eastern principles. “Tattva, acintya-bheda-abheda-tattva” translates loosely as “the truth of the inconceivable, simultaneous oneness and difference of all things.” In Gaudiya Vaishnava philosophy, it’s the paradox of the soul and the divine being both united and distinct; a riddle to be lived rather than solved. On this night, the chant resonated with added weight: the autumnal equinox marked the balance of light and dark, while inside, Kula Shaker turned the mystery of oneness and difference into music loud enough to shake the scales of Libra season.
Photo: Alice Teeple
Good Money (from their upcoming Wormslayer album) was another highlight. At the climax, Mills flung a flurry of phony $100 bills into the pit. A blizzard of worthless wealth, fluttering green under the strobe lights. The audience went berserk, scrambling with the zeal of Wall Street interns after an IPO, laughing, hollering, stuffing bills into shirts. It was theatre, sure, but also a perfect parable: greed turned carnival, banknotes unravelled into paper rain.
They closed with Govinda, their eternal mantra, where once again Sanskrit met Fender and the room swayed like a single organism. Irving Plaza temporarily transformed into a temple where East kissed West, religion locked arms with rock ’n’ roll, and everyone shouted along as if salvation depended on volume.
All four members played with electrified grace, their energy boundless, their humour intact. The music itself seemed to shimmer with the notion of what is most holy in art: that it is not perfect, but alive…and alive it must remain. The fabled rapture might not have come after all, but the audience at Irving Plaza certainly was in that state.

29.09.2025 - THROMOS „Satan“ (Black Metal)

THROMOS
„Satan“
(Black Metal)
Wertung: Empfehlung!
VÖ (LP): 01.07.2025
Label: Blutmondsphaeren
Webseite: Metal-Archives / Bandcamp
(hendrik)

29.09.2025 - RELIQA: neuer Song „Your Touch“

29.09.2025 - The Cure Announces First UK Date for 2026 Headlining Isle of Wight Festival

The Cure have confirmed yet another major festival date for 2026: they are set to headline the Isle of Wight Festival, adding a key UK date to their burgeoning European summer slate. The announcement marks their first confirmed U.K. festival appearance of the year.
Isle of Wight Festival 2026 is slated for June 18–21 at Seaclose Park in Newport. The Cure’s slot will close out the event, making it a marquee headliner position. In addition to The Cure, the festival has already revealed its co-headliners, Calvin Harris and Lewis Capaldi, establishing a diverse and multi-genre bill. They’ll be joined by punk icons the Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter, cult favorites like Wet Leg, The Last Dinner Party, and Shed Seven, as well as veteran acts including Suzanne Vega, Rick Astley, David Gray, and Feeder. The eclectic lineup further expands with appearances by The Kooks, Starsailor, KT Tunstall, and Jo Whiley’s 90s Anthems, promising a weekend that bridges generations and styles.
On the 2026 Isle of Wight lineup, Festival director Caroline Giddings said: “It might be our best line-up yet. It’s my favourite so far, at least. We’re proud to put the future of music and current stars on a bill alongside artists like The Cure and the Sex Pistols, who helped lay the foundation of pop culture.” She adds, “The festival has always been an extension of the Isle of Wight’s rich cultural history. From Lewis Carroll and Tennyson to Julia Margaret Cameron, the island has been a source of inspiration for artists through time. We always try to honour that by presenting the very best music has to offer, giving people an unforgettable festival experience in the process.”
This UK headline follows hot on the heels of The Cure’s earlier 2026 festival confirmations: Nova Rock in Austria on June 12 and Rock en Seine in Paris on August 30. Together with their newly announced Primavera Sound (Barcelona) appearance, the Isle of Wight booking strongly suggests The Cure are aiming for a full European festival tour—crossing the Channel to ensure their U.K. fan base isn’t left out.
The Isle of Wight appearance is especially notable because The Cure have not been frequent headliners of major U.K. festivals in recent years, with their 2019 Glastonbury appearance and 20th Anniversary Hyde Park show being the only exceptions. Also included in the band’s forthcoming schedule, Robert Smith has also been announced as the guest curator for 2026’s Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.
On the studio front, speculation over new music remains active. Robert Smith has previously stated in recent interviews that the follow-up to 2024’s Songs of a Lost World is “virtually finished” and could arrive before next summer’s festivals kick off. The band’s last official release was the 2025 charity remix album Mixes of a Lost World, featuring contributions from artists such as Four Tet, Paul Oakenfold, Orbital, Chino Moreno, Trentemøller, and more, with proceeds benefiting War Child UK.

Rock en Seine (Aug. 26–30, 2026, Paris): The Cure headlining Aug. 30—via rockenseine.com

26.09.2025 - Old-school Deathrockers Altar De Fey Return in Silent Film Inspired Video for “Judith With The Head Of Holofernes”

The story is ancient, yet it cuts with fresh steel: Judith of Bethulia enters the tent of Holofernes, pours his goblet, watches him slump into stupor, and with his own sword severs the head that once commanded armies. The image has been carried across centuries of paint, sculpture, and scripture. Now it surfaces again, reborn in Judith With The Head of Holofernes, the keystone of their Altar De Fey‘s new album Under a Waxing Moon, out now on Transylvanian Recordings.
Altar De Fey (Kent Cates, Aleph Kali, Skot Brown, and Jake Hout) rose out of San Francisco’s early-eighties crucible of deathrock, and now, four decades on, they return with a record steeped in ritual cadence and theatrical menace. Eight tracks shape Under a Waxing Moon, each one walking the line between punk ferocity and the morbid pageantry of gothic rock. Guitars rake the air with serrated brilliance; basslines drive like an engine in the earth; drums strike with the steady insistence of procession and execution. Over it all, the voice cuts through with an incantatory edge; less sung than declared, summoning ruin, rebellion, and nocturnal rite.
At the center stands Judith With the Head of Holofernes, both parable and anthem. Its rhythm feels inexorable, like Judith’s own footsteps crossing the enemy camp. Tension swells, then breaks, releasing in sharp stabs of guitar and commanding voice. The song embodies the moment of the strike: the intoxication, the violence, the return with the severed head raised high.
Marcelle Marais’s companion video amplifies the spirit of the record with a stark black-and-white homage to silent cinema. Borrowing freely from Salome, Ben-Hur and Cleopatra, it revels in robes, veils, and grand theatrical gestures. Camp lingers at the edges, yet ceremony anchors the spectacle, blurring burlesque with ritual. Theda Bara’s coiled intensity and Francis X. Bushman’s hauteur echo through the frames, interspersed with tasty guitar solos from the band. Excess becomes allegory; exaggeration reveals truth. Cecil B. DeMille might blanch, but here artifice is wielded as both homage and subversion; reverent, mischievous.
The fable itself is embodied by Skye Seeley as Judith and frontman Jake Hout as Holofernes. Their performances bring myth into flesh: the seduction, the collapse, the severing stroke, and the victorious return. In Altar De Fey’s rendering, the legend becomes more than a tale preserved in paint and scripture. It becomes a sign of wit overturning tyranny, of beauty turned into its sharpest weapon against brute force.
Watch the video for Judith With The Head Of Holofernes below:
With Judith With The Head of Holofernes, Altar De Fey sharpens their legacy without embalming it. They take the fable of Judith, her blade still dripping with conquest, and extend it into the present moment, reminding us that deathrock’s ritual power lies not in nostalgia but in its capacity to unsettle, unsettle again, and rally courage against the siege.

25.09.2025 - Automatic Crashes into Capitalist Critique With Video for “Black Box” — UK and Europe Tour Dates Announced!

Soft was the bird that whispered to the wind
greed will ignite and burn you from within
No not much survives,
Evil the prize
Automatic’s Is It Now? arrives like a sly dispatch wrapped in rhythm. Out September 26 via Stones Throw, the trio of Izzy Glaudini (synths, vocals), Halle Saxon (bass, vocals), and Lola Dompé (drums, vocals) advance their sound with sharper teeth and slyer humour. They believe, as they’ve said often, that the message of change is best carried with a beat that moves hips as well as minds. Here, that idea turns luminous, laced with wit.
The album bends pop brightness into something slyly radical, embedding calls for renewal inside grooves that glitter with tension. Its Trojan horse conceit – sweet surfaces ferrying subversion – works especially well against themes of automated warfare, consumer stupour, and oil’s iron hand over politics. What seems cheerful on the surface masks a deeper unease, a satire shaped for the body as much as the brain.
On Black Box, their newest single, Automatic, plunges into critique with a hypnotic lure. The track borrows the mood of trip-hop and the precision of post-punk, then tilts it toward collapse. Greed, corruption, false victories…all are sketched in stark lines. The lyrics suggest a warning, one of wings burnt away and art cut down by invisible powers. Betrayal looms, deals are dismissed, and the central question lingers: what was the fight even for?
“The title ‘Black Box’ refers to the black box in a crashed plane,” says Glaudini. “The repetitive synth is supposed to suggest a plane gliding as it crashes/ an alarm distress call. I was listening to the Leonard Cohen album The Future a lot around the time the lyrics were written. It’s a pretty straightforward critique of people that have sold out on a large scale, specifically within creative industries. Thierry Mugler said, ‘art used to tell money what to do, now money tells art what to do’ and the world is a less interesting place because of it.”
The video for Black Box, co-directed by Niccolò Verrecchia and Bryce Williams, amplifies the music’s surreal humour. Rendered in stopmotion, Automatic appear as ants in a farm, burrowing through soil only to be chased by a grotesque blob. They surface in a fish tank, a forest on fire, an archaeological dig…images strange, playful, and memorable, calling to mind the Brothers Quay and oddball relics of early internet animation like the off-kilter Spongmonkeys or the absurd Flash chaos of classics like Salad Fingers and Gonads and Strife.
Watch the video for “Black Box” below:
Working for the first time with producer Loren Humphrey, whose credits span Tame Impala to Arctic Monkeys, the trio recorded between New York and Los Angeles, navigating distance and temperament with precision. Their influences stretch wider, nodding to Patrick Cowley, A Certain Ratio, Air, and that late-’70s moment when dub and punk collided with combustible effect. Is It Now? doesn’t posture as prophecy. It prods, provokes, and nudges. You might come away asking sharper questions, or at least dancing until you do.
Since 2022’s Excess, Automatic have shared stages with Tame Impala, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Marías, and IDLES. This fall, they tour extensively with Sextile, before heading to Europe and the UK on their own terms.

25.09.2025 - Portland Darkwavers Ceremony Shadows are Nostalgic for Analog Tech in an AI World with “Future Past Collapse”

Flickering pulse in the ever-afterSpace between shock and surrenderAll moments held in this breathHunger for transcendence
In the anxious twilight of technological upheaval, Ceremony Shadows arrive with Future Past Collapse, a work that poses questions rather than neat consolations. The Portland-based ensemble has chosen a peculiar and telling lens: nostalgia, not for ancient ruins or antique rituals, but for the technology that once defined human ingenuity and now risks irrelevance.
This is no minor speculation.
“We were wondering if we will come to feel (or are already feeling) nostalgic towards human technology, especially as AI technology rises and displaces much of what has made us human up until this point in our history as a species,” the band declares. Such words carry the calm cadence of inevitability, balanced between fear and fascination.
The band, seasoned by their international upbringing and immersed in the peculiar currents of alternative culture, reframes familiar Darkwave scaffolding with intellectual heft. The rhythmic understructure sustains a hypnotic steadiness, while tones glide between severity and transcendence. In this, the music resembles a ritual without priest or altar, a construction of rhythm and voice meant to echo within the listener rather than instruct them.
The composition does not shy away from scale. Vocals by Jana Cushman of Darkswoon and Annalisa Rose of Glori add a warmth that collides with machine-assisted phrasing. The dual presence underscores Ceremony Shadows’ central conceit: the friction of circuitry against skin, the paradox of a voice both human and automated. If the past century trembled at the machine’s cold promise, this track recognizes that the same machine now bears the patina of memory, as quaint and familiar as a rotary phone in the age of retinal scans.
Lyrically, Future Past Collapse is a philosophical riddle spoken in fragmented imagery, astral and corporeal, which blurs any neat division between science and mysticism. Breath becomes an epoch, memory becomes circuitry. The chorus intones: “Future past collapse in presence / Awe in the depths of the light / At the heart of the void.” These lines are less prophecy than condition, a reminder that our present is forever slipping between archives of loss and anticipations of invention.
Humanity, they remind us, may soon see its inventions outgrow their creators. Yet even in that inevitability, Ceremony Shadows insists on awe: “Humanity is about to be augmented, if not replaced in certain ways, by AI technology. We wrote Future Past Collapse to examine this sense of nostalgia.” The result is a track that hums with the electricity of its own inquiry, aware that history is both archive and prophecy.

Future Past Collapse by Ceremony Shadows
Ceremony Shadows are no strangers to the stage. From supporting ACTORS in 2023 to their Purple City Festival appearance in Edmonton, they have steadily expanded their orbit. Their debut album Ascension, released in March 2025, signaled ambition. Future Past Collapse confirms it.

25.09.2025 - Casual Confrontation Debuts Dark Electronic Anthem of Attention and Aversion “[D]LaM!”

Casual Confrontation comes charging in with [D]LaM!, a track that thrashes away any pretense of indie-pop polish and replaces it with something darker, sweatier, and wired for late-night chaos. Frankie Diez, the Romanian-born, Cuban-American force behind the project, has been releasing music at a dizzying pace since 2020, but this single marks a fresh jolt: a full plunge into jagged industrial dance territory where the beats stalk and the synths bite.
“I’ve always been inspired and involved within the punk, goth, and alternative subcultures, and it’s about time my music began reflecting that,” Diez explains. The declaration feels like a gauntlet thrown. [D]LaM! isn’t a safe experiment by any means. It plunges into menace and exhilaration, a place where influences like Pixel Grip, Panther Modern, and Nine Inch Nails hover in the smoke, but never weigh down the track’s own weird pulse.
The song is alive with contradiction. The lyrics wrestle with resentment and self-preservation, confronting the tension of wanting to be invisible while simultaneously pulled into someone else’s gaze. The chorus pounds with a manic call-and-response: “Look at me / Don’t look at me” – a frantic seesaw between craving and revulsion. It’s obsessive, claustrophobic, almost like being shoved under a strobe light when you’d rather melt into the walls.
That discomfort, however, is exactly what makes the track burn. [D]LaM! lurches forward with abrupt turns, jagged stops, and jolting restarts, like a body convulsing in rhythm it can’t control. It’s volatile, wired with panic and pleasure, daring you to keep up. It’s confrontation set to a beat, a nervous breakdown disguised as a dance track. Diez has tapped into something raw, and the sound of it feels like he’s just getting started.
