Die Black Metal-Band ORGG präsentiert ihre neue Single „Lawinensturm“ mit einem Lyric-Video bei YouTube.

Inhaltlich konzentriert sich die italienische Formation ausschließlich auf den Ersten Weltkrieg, wobei das Hauptaugenmerk insbesondere dem Gebirgskrieg an der Dolomitenfront und dessen Auswirkungen auf die Natur gilt.

Derzeit arbeitet die Band an ihrem dritten Studioalbum, das voraussichtlich Anfang 2026 erscheinen soll.

Die Crossover-Band KONTRUST hat eine neue Cover-Version aufgenommen. „I Like To Move It“ ist im Original von REEL 2 REAL und als Videoclip bei YouTube zu sehen.

Die Wahl des Stücks viel bewusst auf einen Song, „den niemand mehr hören kann“, wie die Österreicher erklären:

„Mit ‚I Like To Move It‘ haben wir bewusst einen Song ausgewählt, den niemand mehr hören kann. Wir wollten keinen Song, den alle lieben – wir wollten den perfekten Mist-Song. Einen, den jeder über vier Jahren zum Kotzen findet. Jeder kennt ihn, jeder hat ihn viel zu oft gehört. Und er taucht immer dann auf, wenn man ihn am wenigsten braucht. Uns wurde schnell klar: Entweder geben wir dem Song auf unsere eigene Art eine neue, schmutzige Daseinsberechtigung – oder wir tragen zumindest aktiv dazu bei, ihn ein für alle Mal zu begraben.

Letztendlich ist das Ganze ein kollektives Kindheitstrauma, das wir für uns selbst verarbeiten mussten. Nach 25 Jahren hat es einfach Spaß gemacht, zum ersten Mal einen Song zu covern. Letztendlich war es auch eine willkommene Abwechslung zum üblichen Songwriting-Prozess. Der Song hat es tatsächlich fast geschafft, uns ans Herz zu wachsen… Also ja: We like to move it!”

Das selbstbewusste Auftreten ist keineswegs unbegründet: Dass BLEED FROM WITHIN sich selbst auf dem Höhepunkt ihres Schaffens sehen, verrät der Titel ihres aktuellen Albums „Zenith“ (2025). Zu hoch stapeln die Schotten dabei keineswegs, wie ein Besuch der aktuellen Europatour belegt. War die Metalcore-Band Ende 2023 noch im Münchner Hansa 39 zu Gast, pilgern diesmal rund dreimal so viele Fans ins Münchner Backstage, um neue Songs und alte Hits zu feiern.

Abrunden soll den Abend ein knackiges Vorprogramm, das mitunter harte Bandagen auffährt. Neben den Newcomern GREAT AMERICAN GHOST sind es vor allem AFTER THE BURIAL, die nach ihrer Pause offenbar wieder Blut geleckt haben.

GREAT AMERICAN GHOST

Als eine seiner derzeitigen Lieblingsbands soll Scott Kennedy den Anheizer später noch vorstellen. Warum es ausgerechnet GREAT AMERICAN GHOST dem BLEED FROM WITHIN-Sänger angetan haben, zeigen die US-Amerikaner sodann am frühen Abend einer durchaus gut gefüllten Halle. Seinen modernen Metalcore intoniert das Quintett brachial und mit dezentem Industrial-Einschlag, lässt melodischen Klargesang aber zumindest phasenweise zu.

Gitarrist Grayson Stewart (NORMA JEAN) mischt „Lost In The Outline” etwa eine leicht schwermütige Note bei, um den markigen Vocals seines Kollegen ein entsprechendes Gegengewicht zu bieten. Shouter Ethan Harrison wiederum greift immer wieder gezielt auf Pitched-Screams zurück, um selbst ein paar melodische Tupfer zu setzen. Vornehmlich aber regiert der Vorschlaghammer, den Harrison in „Alter Of Snakes“ gen Publikum richtet.

Weil die Wall of Death aber zunächst keine richtigen Formen annehmen will, stürzt sich der Frontmann gleich selbst ins Getümmel, um die Münchner:innen auf jeweils gegenüberliegende Seiten zu beordern. Es war der Schubser, den das Backstage Werk zu Anfang gebraucht hat, setzt sich das kontrollierte Chaos doch in „Kerosene“ fort. Den vergleichsweise ruhigen Beginn von „Writhe“ begleitet in der Halle ein kleines Lichtermeer, was vielleicht nicht ganz zur vornehmlich rabiaten Atmosphäre passt, aber den Musikern dafür ein zufriedenes Lächeln ins Gesicht zaubert.

Letzteres gilt wohl auch für den Circle Pit im abschließenden „Forsaken“, der keinen Zweifel daran lässt, dass die Münchner Core-Szene heute noch eine ganze Menge Energie im Tank hat. Zu monieren haben wir also eigentlich nur die immer häufiger anzutreffende Unsitte, den fehlenden zweiten Gitarristen durch einen Backing Track zu ersetzen.

AFTER THE BURIAL

Unschuldig sind auch AFTER THE BURIAL diesbezüglich nicht, wobei es beim Quartett aus Minnesota fast schon schwerer wiegt, beschränkt sich doch Trent Hafdahl über 40 Minuten überwiegend auf die Spuren der Rhythmusgitarre. Die interessanteren Passagen abseits des Chuggings kommen dagegen fast ausnahmslos vom Band. Dazu zählen die markant quiekenden Leads von „Behold The Crown“ ebenso wie der Refrain des Bandhits „Lost In The Static“.

Weil es im Backstage stimmungstechnisch aber trotzdem schon ab „In Flux“ gut zur Sache geht, fällt es uns – trotz bitteren Beigeschmacks – bald leichter als gedacht, dieses Manko größtenteils auszublenden. Belohnt werden wir dann mit einer soliden und durchaus kraftvollen Performance, die bewährtes Material à la „Exit, Exist“ ebenso umfasst wie die neue Single „Hum From The Hollow“, wo der Djent-Einfluss hörbar zum Tragen kommt.

AFTER THE BURIAL-Sänger Anthony Notarmaso wird für einen kurzen Moment sogar nostalgisch

Von Circle Pit bis Crowdsurfer ist natürlich all das vorhanden, was eine lebhafte Metalcore-Show ausmacht, wobei Frontmann Anthony Notarmaso aller Härte zum Trotz auch ganz anders kann. Dem jungen Fan in der ersten Reihe schenkt er im Tausch gegen ein (selbstgemaltes?) Bild die gedruckte Setliste der Band und sieht sich zugleich an seine eigene Kindheit erinnert, als ihn sein Vater früh mit auf diverse Konzerte nahm.

Den damals aufkeimenden Wunsch, irgendwann selbst auf der Bühne zu stehen, hat sich Notarmaso längst erfüllt, nur den Lichtschalter müssen AFTER THE BURIAL offenbar noch finden. Wenn das schwarze Leinen über dem Drumkit des Headliners prominenter in Szene gesetzt wird als die Musiker selbst, sollte man über einen Personalwechsel am FOH nachdenken.

BLEED FROM WITHIN

Als um halb zehn Ali Richardson im Deutschlandtrikot sein erhöht positioniertes Kit erklimmt, ist die Stimmung im Backstage bereits nahe dem Siedepunkt. Zusätzliche Sympathiepunkte sind dem Drummer durch die Wahl des Outfits selbstverständlich dennoch gewiss. Dreidimensionale Stacheln rahmen sein Podest links und rechts ein – der Verweis auf das Albumcover mit seinem gezackten Haupt scheint wie ein Wink mit dem Zaunpfahl: Selbstverständlich steht heute alles im Zeichen der aktuellen Platte „Zenith“ (2025), die etwas über die Hälfte des Sets ausmachen soll.

Den Münchner:innen scheint es derweil völlig einerlei, ob die Band nun den brachialen Opener „Violent Nature“, das bissige „Sovereign“ oder eine ältere Abrissbirne wie „Crown of Misery“ – der einzige Song aus „Era“-Zeiten (2018) – zum Besten gibt. Dass der Groove der unterschiedlichen Tracks oftmals in eine ähnliche Kerbe schlägt, trägt sicherlich sein Übriges dazu bei: Mitreißend ist der Sound BLEED FROM WITHINs dadurch garantiert, sodass es im Pit stets alle Hände voll zu tun gibt.

Gleiches gilt für die Security im Fotograben, die ab dem dritten Stück immer mit wachsamem Auge Richtung Publikum die zahlreichen Crowdsurfer zurück auf den Boden der Tatsachen holen muss. Keine einfache Aufgabe heute Abend, da es sich Shouter Scott Kelly offenbar zur Mission gemacht hat, sich bei jedem Einzelnen per Handschlag zu bedanken. Publikumsnah zeigt sich der Frontmann auch zwischen den Stücken, indem er nicht nur offen seine Dankbarkeit kundtut, sondern bisweilen sichtlich überwältigt wirkt ob des Trubels zu seinen Füßen.

Durchschnaufen darf Kelly selbst allerdings nur während des Schlagzeugsolos, in welches das starke „Night Crossing“ fließend überleitet. Die Einzeldemonstration ist tatsächlich kurzweiliger als zunächst von uns befürchtet und endet theatralisch mit einem Kuss auf das Wappen der deutschen Nationalmannschaft. Ein kleiner Showmann ist wohl auch an Ali Richardson verloren gegangen.

BLEED FROM WITHIN legen Wert auf Authentizität

Was BLEED FROM WITHIN aber grundsätzlich auszeichnet, ist das Zusammenspiel der beiden Gitarristen Craig „Goonie“ Gowans und Steven Jones, wobei ersterer nicht nur in „Levitate“ ein hörenswertes Solo beisteuert. Die per Backing Track beigesteuerten Streicher dienen wie die sonstigen Synthesizer vorwiegend der Unterstützung, legt die Band doch sonst großen Wert auf Atuhentizität: Die Akustikgitarren in „Edge Of Infinity“ bedient das Duo beispielsweise noch selbst.

Zwischen eingängigen Refrains à la „A Hope In Hell“ oder „I Am Damnation“, welchen Jones mittels kraftvoller Singstimme Nachdruck verleiht, und todsicheren Live-Granaten wie „God Complex“ nehmen sich BLEED FROM WITHIN überdies die Zeit für ihre experimentelle Seite. Daher darf auch das staubig-sludgige „Dying Sun“ seinen Moment im Rampenlicht genießen, während Sänger Scott Kelly aus dem Publikum eine Deutsch-Schottische-Hybridflagge entgegennimmt.

Bei BLEED FROM WITHIN siegt heute das Miteinander

Die Botschaft ist eindeutig: Selbst wenn man im wütenden „Stand Down“ noch verbissen die Fäuste erhoben hat, siegt im Backstage Werk heute das Miteinander. Symbolisch wirkt daher auch der kurze Gastauftritt Ethan Harrisons (GREAT AMERICAN GHOST), welcher in „Hands Of Sin“ die zweite Strophe übernehmen darf. Einen draufsetzen können BLEED FROM WITHIN zu diesem Zeitpunkt nur noch mit ihrem größten Hit. „The End Of All We Know“ singt die bayerische Landeshauptstadt nicht nur in gewaltiger Lautstärke mit, auch der Circle Pit beschleunigt nochmal um einige Umdrehungen zusätzlich pro Minute.

Nachdem sich Sänger Scott Kelly hier mit dem Smartphone eines Fans kurz als Kameramann versucht hatte, will er zum Abschluss der Anhängerschaft die besten Motive gleich selbst liefern: Im finalen „In Place Of Your Halo“ zieht es den Musiker über die Absperrung, um auf den Schultern und Händen der Meute die letzten Worte in die Nacht zu brüllen.

BLEED FROM WITHIN spielen im Münchner Backstage ihren bislang größten Headline-Gig

Nach 80 Minuten sind nicht nur wir sichtlich bedient: So viel Einsatz lässt selbst die motivierteste Fangemeinde sichtlich erschöpft zurück. Zufrieden scheint man in München dennoch, und zwar vor wie auf der Bühne. Nicht ohne Grund erklärte schließlich GREAT AMERICAN GHOST-Fronter Ethan Harrison zu Beginn des Abends, dass das Backstage Werk für zahllose Metal-Bands auf dem Planeten ein absolutes Traum-Venue sei.

Weshalb ist schnell erklärt: Eine lebhaftere Atmosphäre wie dort ist bei Shows dieser Größenordnung selten anzutreffen. Dass BLEED FROM WITHIN ihren bislang bestbesuchten Headline-Gig also ausgerechnet an Ort und Stelle feiern durften, ist sicherlich die Kirsche auf der Sahnetorte für eine Band, die sich völlig zu Recht auf dem derzeitigen Höhepunkt ihres Schaffens befindet.

The new single WITHR by Night In Athens, featuring Skelesys, is a cold wave transmission of loss, resignation, and the erosion of intimacy. It arrives like a signal coded in ghostly machine rhythm, its stark synthesizers hammering with mechanical accuracy while her voice drifts above intricate darkwave guitar melodies, detached yet deliberate.

“The title is from the word Wither, but I omitted the one letter, just like when wither happens, meaning there is an absence of love, it’s not there,” she explains. The absence is structural: a love hollowed out, recorded in sequence. The track is less a song of heartbreak than an account of how love corrodes under pressure, how absence becomes its own structure, and how memory slips into repetition. Night In Athens delivers this with cold dispassion, but not indifference.

Written as a song about confronting loss, the song’s lyrics are pared down to essentials. They sketch emptiness, muteness, and the quiet collapse of connection—amplified by forlorn synths and morose vocals that resonate like a cloistered choir of monks in a cathedral. Silence, broken hearts, petals, ice… each image gestures at fragility, but never indulges in sentiment. The line “no emotion, only sequence” returns like a mantra, reducing intimacy to repetition and decline. As the artist frames it: “It’s the situation when you are in a relationship and you see it fading, but you do nothing about it, you just watch it, having no power to end it.” The dissection of powerlessness is rendered with clinical precision, almost documentary in tone.

The song’s production reinforces its duality. Doruk Ozturkan (She Past Away), who handled mixing and mastering, sharpens the track’s edges while allowing its layers to expand with intricate baroque detail. Every instrument is placed with clarity and precision. Synths pulse with icy restraint, vocals hover in measured detachment, and Damian from Skelesys (and Silver Tears) threads his trademark minor-key guitar lines—first as subtle accents, then swelling into prominence as the track unfolds. Together, these elements interlock seamlessly, crisp and clear, yet capable of conjuring immense waves of emotion. The result is a track that is as bleak as it is beautiful, evoking the finest traditions of classic gothic rock and darkwave.

Am 3. Oktober 2025 veröffentlichten ORBIT CULTURE ihr neues Album, das den Titel „Death Above Life“ trägt.  „Das Album steht für Veränderung, für einen Neuanfang”, sagt Gitarrist, Sänger und Songwriter Niklas Karlsson. „Es weckt viele gute und schlechte Emotionen, aber es ist eine große Veränderung zum Besseren. Es fühlt sich wie eine Wiedergeburt an.”

Den Release feiert die Gruppe mit einem Musikvideo zu „Bloodhound„.

Mit dem Visualizer „Nerve“ hat die Modern Death Metal-Band außerdem einen weiteren Track des Werks ausgekoppelt. Auch zu den Songs „Hydra„, „The Tales Of War“ und „Death Above Life“ gibt es bereits Videoclips.

ORBIT CULTURE waren im Sommer auf Tour und auf einigen Festivals sowie als Support von IN FLAMES zu sehen. Im Herbst folgt dann eine Headline-Tournee mit GAEREA und ATLAS im Vorprogramm.

Unser Geheimnis ist, dass wir immer noch das Gefühl haben, gerade erst anzufangen. „Don’t Go In The Forest“ ist voller Sachen, die wir noch nie zuvor gemacht haben. Es sind alles Songs und Konzepte, mit denen wir uns bisher noch nicht beschäftigt haben. Der Geist ist wild und wir haben uns in den dunkelsten Wäldern verloren, voller Erinnerungen und Fantasien. Wir müssen dieses Albumgenau jetzt veröffentlichen.. Das ist alles, was wir jemals wollten,. Ihr werdet feststellen, dass auch ihr genau das wollt! (Sänger Johannes Eckerström über das neue Album)

Die Band kündigte außerdem die Dates ihrer „In the Airwaves“ mit ALIEN WEAPONRY Tour Anfang 2026 an, in Deutschland sind sechs Konzerte geplant. Als Support spielen auch die norwegische feministische Black-Metal-Band WITCH CLUB SATAN und die norwegische Death-Jazz-Band AGABAS bei einigen Shows.

Die Black / Death Metal-Band EL MUERTO hat mit „Wolves of Den Haag“ einen zweiten Track ihrer kommenden EP „Lost and Amsterdamned“ veröffentlicht. Der Song wurde durch den Mord an dem niederländischen Staatsmann Johan de Witt im Jahr 1672 inspiriert.

Es ist der erste Release des von Ricardo Botello geführten Projekts, das als letzte Botschaft eines Künstlers konzipiert gewesen ist, der den Lebenswillen verloren hatte. Aber die EP stellt nun kein Abschied mehr dar, sondern sei der Beweis dafür, dass selbst im Schatten noch etwas überleben kann.

„Lost and Amsterdamned“ wurde von Tomas Skogsberg in den Sunlight Studios gemixt und von Ricardo Botello selbst gemastert. Erscheinen wird die EP am 21. November 2025. Vorab gibt es zu „Enthroned in the Tower of Shadows (The Witch)“ einen Video-Clip.

Sacred Hearts’ new single Possession evokes the spirit of gothic romance and old-school post-punk, like the soundtrack to wandering through the woods beneath the moonlight—the rustle of trees, the hum of insects, the flicker of something both tender and unsettling. Its atmosphere carries warmth, yet conjures a similar world-building intensity that The Cure achieved in 1980 with A Forest. From this setting of shadow and shimmer, the Australian duo unfurls a song that feels like both an invocation and an embrace, a midnight ritual and a passionate rebellion.

The machinery of the track is austere, though not barren—like a tree that still clings to its leaves as the chill of autumn begins to take hold. A retro drum machine pulses steadily, while a dreamlike guitar strumming melody drifts through the dusk, restrained and free of excess effects. Beneath it all, icy synths hum like a frozen current, anchoring the song in shadow. At its center, June Gray’s voice flutters and feels otherworldly—like embracing a ghost whose aura still remembers the warmth of skin, flesh, and bone. There is longing threaded through every breath, a yearning that renders the sacred profane and the profane sacred. Possession is not a fleeting spark but a fever that lingers, where intimacy and infection blur under the pale light of desire.

The lyrics echo addiction, reframed as a form of worship. Love here is not affection but subsumption, not companionship but contagion. The body becomes a chapel, veins filled with communion’s fire. Possession exposes devotion’s darker calculus: to be consumed and to consume, to inhale another as if air, to surrender even while suffocating. This is love stripped bare and redressed as dominion—an altar in the forest where autonomy burns like incense.

Sacred Hearts’ edge comes from situating this exploration in spectacle. Their live reputation already rests on camp theatrics and Catholic parody, but here they strike a deeper chord, showing how ritual—once imposed on them in childhood classrooms—now becomes a language for power, intimacy, and hunger. In a world where women are often instructed to temper appetite, they instead present desire as holy, something to be reclaimed, embraced, and celebrated as divine.

Australia’s alternative circuit has already borne witness to their ascent through festival slots and support shows alongside AFI, The Damned, and Zheani. Possession positions them for wider recognition, condensing their wit, performance history, and underground credibility into a song that can set dance floors alight as easily as it can provoke theological unease. Its structure keeps its sharpness intact: no excess, no filler—just rhythm, breath, and invocation. Possession reminds us that love, when stripped of polite disguises, often feels closer to prayer: an urge to consume, to surrender, and to call that surrender divine.

Das Album, welches am 26. September 2025 via Out Of Line Music erschienen ist, erzähle eine Geschichte über Schmerz, Liebe, Verlust und inneren Krieg. Es folgt einem Mann, der von einem Trauma und dem metaphorischen (oder vielleicht buchstäblichen) Dämon heimgesucht wird, der sich von seinem Leiden ernährt. Eine Geschichte von Erlösung, die sich in eine Tragödie verwandelt, in der die Liebe ihn einst gerettet hat, der Verlust aber alles zu zerstören droht.

Zuvor hat die Band mit „The First Time“ – mit Gast-Sänger Trevor Borg (WIND WALKERS) – ebenso eine Single mitsamt Video-Clip veröffentlicht. Der Song, welcher ursprünglich vom ehemaligen Sänger Logan Bartholomew geschrieben wurde, war der erste Song mit dem neuen Sänger Cody Crook.

Chicago’s The Breathing Light have unveiled their new single, “Everybody Has a Face”, arriving less as a release and more as a tableau, carefully composed yet brimming with movement. It is here that the band slow their restless genre shifts, choosing instead to dwell in fragility and dream-like suspension.

Drifting within the heart of a dreamlike vision, Everybody Has a Face opens with a wistful violin line, its tone shaded in nostalgia, before bells and chimes scatter like a sudden breeze. What begins in melancholy soon tilts toward playfulness, guiding the listener into a space at once tender, peculiar, and inviting. As the band note, the track can “embrace the soulful and lush qualities of Massive Attack or Curtis Mayfield.” Within its waltz rhythm lies both weight and lift, as if gravity itself were briefly negotiable. Hints of Radiohead and The Divine Comedy, and even Nick Drake also waft through, and an almost chamber-pop refinement is threaded into the song’s fabric.

The video, directed by Emi K., translates this mood into imagery. Kyle Ozero, in a painted mask, drifts through Chicago streets as if half-present, passing unnoticed among crowds and avenues. In the cemetery, his painted features meet the broken faces of statues, the fleeting against the permanent. The symbolism strikes clear: “putting on a face” or “saving face” may shield the self, but at the cost of eroding it.

Yet the film never sinks into heaviness. Instead, it contemplates visibility: what it means to be seen, to withhold, to move through a city’s endless rhythm as both participant and phantom. The song’s airy patience mirrors the images: it is less about conclusion than suspension, lingering in the space between.

The Breathing Light’s In the True World unfolds across thirteen tracks, from crowd-surging intensity to drifting reverie. The strength lies not in any grand gesture, but in how the band allows each track to breathe and settle into its own shape. The album suggests less a destination than a shifting horizon, where sound becomes a landscape of possibility; an abstract world that shimmers just beyond reach, waiting to be entered.

In The True World draws inspiration from a 1977 time capsule sent into space, and the music is influenced by the upbringing of The Breathing Light’s primary composer, guitarist, and singer, Kyle Ozero, who grew up in the South Suburbs of Chicago. “I wanted to write an album that was a response to the Voyager Golden Records,” says Ozero. “The world sent those albums into the void, and this is my response from the void, from the place that people have forgotten and overlooked—It just so happens I grew up there. The void is ‘flyover’ country in a majority black suburb, but I’m here, and my music matters.”

The Breathing Light has released three previous albums: The Breathing Light (2013), Give Up (2015), and Cold Static World (2018), as well as one EP, Love Buss Down (2022), on Don’t Panic Records. They have toured the US since 2017, sharing stages with Death (Detroit) in 2019, performing at The Secret History of Black Punk Festival in NYC, 2023, and touring California in 2025. They plan to tour the US and the UK in 2026.

Forest Circles‘ new single Sleep Castle arrives like a confession carried on wind, unhurried and inevitable. Piano notes fall with the steadiness of rain upon stone, each one measured, each one resonant with stillness. Over this foundation, Angel Ocana’s tender voice arcs, soft yet certain, a vessel for memory and a mirror for desire. It carries the ache of departure without collapsing beneath it, speaking to a love that has ended and yet somehow continues to breathe in the body of the listener.

There is no excess; just the simplicity of chords and the naked clarity of a voice. That sparseness creates a chamber where silence becomes as important as sound. In those pauses, longing gathers, delicate and heavy. What remains unsaid feels just as potent as what is offered, a reminder that absence can shape a room as much as presence.

The lyric moves between disbelief and devotion, between prayer and plain admission. “I can’t live without you,” the song seems to say, yet what rises through the delivery is less desperation than an elemental recognition: love, once touched, can never be untethered. Ocana leans into that paradox. His singing is unforced, imbued with a calm that turns grief into a form of grace.

The accompanying black-and-white video for Sleep Castle deepens the resonance. A lone dancer, illuminated only by the pale circumference of a full moon, turns the body into a kind of wordless prayer. The frame is stripped of distraction, leaving gestures that suggest both surrender and survival. It is an image of devotion offered to emptiness, where the smallest movement ripples against the cosmic expanse above.

Forest Circles understand that fragility need not be broken. Here, it is positively luminous, a condition that reveals rather than conceals. The song’s title points to cycles: endings that become beginnings, departures that remain as presences in another form. Listening, one feels both the ordinary ache of distance and the extraordinary relief of knowing that love itself is part of something wider, a current that flows through every voice, every silence. It holds sorrow without drowning, and hope without denial. It offers a balance: between the intimate loss of one voice and the vast consolation of a universe still listening. In that balance, the song finds its quiet, enduring truth.

The king is gone but he’s not forgotten

In the late 1970s, Neil Young stood at a crossroads. Punk had exploded, sweeping away the long-haired idealism of the 60s, and Young, no stranger to confronting the ghosts of his own generation, penned My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue) as both epitaph and invocation. His words wrestled with the weight of fading icons, with Elvis gone, Lennon still alive (at least for another year) but weary, and a new snarling figure in Johnny Rotten heralding that rock’s spirit was mutating, not dying. For Young, then, the song was a way of acknowledging the impermanence of flesh while insisting that art could carry the torch beyond the body’s decay. It was a lament, but also a creed: “rock and roll will never die.”

Young’s voice, frayed and furious, carries both benediction and curse, summoning a spirit that outlives the flesh that feeds it. My My Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue) is the electric spark against the eternal void. It reminds us that life is a burning page, the ink still wet, the guitar still bleeding. Rust never sleeps, but neither does the raw hunger of creation.

Fast forward to today’s dystopian landscape: a world tangled in climate collapse, digital addiction, endless conflict, and corporate surveillance. The lyrics resonate with a chilling prescience with the sluggish pace – as if chanted during a ritual, under the influence. Where once Young spoke of the personal choice between fading away quietly or burning out in incandescent rebellion, MIDNIGHTCHOIR’s take echoes as a collective warning. To “rust” is no longer just about aging gracefully; it is about complacency in the face of ecological ruin, authoritarian creep, and cultural homogenization. To “burn out” becomes less about personal myth, and more about refusing to be subdued by an increasingly mechanized, despairing society. New York City’s MIDNIGHTCHOIR unveil their brooding New Wave take on Neil Young’s My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue), treating the song as both a meditation on mortality and a dispatch from the present. What once spoke to rock’s resilience in the 70s now surfaces as a dystopian anthem; an urgent reminder that even in an age of disinformation and decay, the spark of resistance, the raw cry of creation, can still pierce the rust.

The accompanying video places the duo of Patrick Bobilin and Sarah Simon at the head of a Lynchian dinner party, where unease seeps through every gesture and glance. By its climax, the guests close in, conspiratorial and menacing (New Yorkers will spot Diamond Field among them), sketching a sinister allegory of elite ritual, illicit rumours, and mankind’s darkest instincts.

After all, even Rotten himself has since sold out and abandoned youthful ideals for something more sinister.

This sardonic streak carries through the band’s new album, Debtors Disco. Their goth-inflected darkwave sharpens into political anthems such as No Country and Girls. Punk charges through Keep Your Revolution, synth-pop shimmers in Clever Guy / Air, and a smoldering cover of Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out of My Head tilts toward obsession. Elsewhere, Bobilin’s Puerto Rican heritage flows into Hourglass and the title track, closing the record with both fury and pride.

Guided by producer Ben Greenberg (Drab Majesty, Depeche Mode) the duo found a kindred hand to heighten the brightness and deepen the gravity of their sound.

Debtors Disco arrives on all DSPs November 7th, with a release show at Alphaville in Brooklyn alongside None Shall Remain, 12090 A.D., and DJ Alex English.

Die Schweden HÄLLAS haben eine neue Platte angekündigt: „Panorama“ erscheint am 30. Januar 2026 über das bandeigene Label Äventyr Records. Über das neue Material spricht die Band wie folgt:

„In gewisser Weise klingt Panorama vertraut: eine fantasievolle Mischung aus progressivem 70er-Jahre-Rock und Heavy Metal mit Anklängen an Folk und Psychedelia, gepaart mit konzeptionellen Inhalten. In anderer Hinsicht hat man so etwas von Hällas noch nicht gehört. Das Selbstbewusstsein war noch nie so offensichtlich. Einflüsse aus verschiedenen Richtungen prallen aufeinander und kollidieren manchmal, was zu dem Gefühl beiträgt, dass das Erwartete stattdessen in Staunen darüber gipfelt, was man gerade hört.“

Ende Mai veröffentlichte die Band eine weitere Single und erklärte den Track „Karma Is A Beach“ so:

„Karma is a Beach ist der perfekte Sommer-Festival-Track. Der Song erinnert auf humorvolle Weise daran, dass alles, was man tut, irgendwann zu einem zurückkommt. Der Track ist 100% April Art, rotzfrech und laut. Wir hatten eine mega Zeit beim Dreh des Musikvideos und hoffen, dass Euch der Song hilft, das Leben ein bisschen weniger ernst zu nehmen.“

Das Stück folgt auf die vorherige Preview-Nummer „So Low“. Außerdem ist eine Doppelsingle vorab abrufbar: „Where The Flowers Never Grow“ und „Wave“ gibt es als Video bei YouTube.

Zuletzt erschien der Song „For You“ als Musikvideo bei YouTube. Der Track folgt auf die Single „Ritual“, die bereits im Frühjahr 2024 erschienen war.

An neuen Album ist erstmals der neue Bassist Luke Booth  beteiligt. Aufgenommen und gemischt wurde Anfang 2025 im Nø Studio in Manchester mit Produzent Joe Clayton, das Mastering übernahm Grant Berry.

 „Fleshwork ist eine Dekonstruktion dessen, was Menschsein bedeutet – der Hang zu Selbstzerstörung und systemischer Grausamkeit, die unweigerlich auftauchen, solange es Menschen gibt. Es ist geerdeter und emotionaler als unsere bisherigen Arbeiten, mit einem stärkeren Fokus auf das Versagen unserer Welt, die Schwächsten zu schützen – und auf unsere eigene Unfähigkeit, uns selbst zu schützen. Wie viel Schmerz kann man sich und anderen zufügen, bevor man aufhört, menschlich zu sein? Es gibt kein Limit; alles Schlimme in der Menschheitsgeschichte wurde von Menschen selbst verursacht. Auf 20 Jahre Bandgeschichte blicken THE SUBWAYS mit ihrem Best-of-Album „When I’m With You“ zurück. Darauf zu finden sind neben bekannter Singles und Fan-Favoriten auch die zwei brandneuen Stücke „I Need To Feel You Closer“ sowie „Passenger’s Side“. Das Erstere ist jetzt als Video abrufbar.

Billy Lunn erklärt zum Jubiläums-Release:

„Das Erreichen von 20 Jahren ist an sich schon etwas Besonderes für uns, denn es bedeutet, dass wir das, was wir so sehr lieben, schon so lange tun. Aber der wahre Beweis für die Freude, die wir in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten erleben durften, sind die Freunde, die wir auf diesem Weg gewonnen haben.
