Die Technical Death Metal-Band AYDRA meldet sich mit einem neuen Album zurück: “Leave to Nowhere” ist der erste neue Release der Italiener seit 20 Jahren. Zuvor hat die Band mit “Icon of Sin” (1999) und “Hyperlogical Non-Sense” (2004) zwei Alben veröffentlicht. Release-Termin ist der 10. Oktober 2024 via Rude Awakening Records.

Nach “Forever Hide” und “Psycho Pain Control” (der Titel ist eine neu bearbeitete Version des Titeltracks ihrer Debüt-EP “Psycho Pain Control” von 1996) ist mit “Deserter” nun eine dritte Vorab-Single erschienen. Dieser Track thematisiert die brutale Realität der Wehrpflicht in Eritrea und bietet einen Einblick in das übergreifende Konzept des Albums. Denn “Leave to Nowhere” erzählt die erschütternde Geschichte der Reise eines Migranten von Afrika nach Europa und fängt den Schmerz, den Kampf und die Hoffnung derjenigen ein, die ein besseres Leben suchen.

Die Death Metal-Band RISE OF KRONOS hat nach dem Video-Clip zu “Separate The Sheep From Goats” mit “Arrival Of Delusion” ein Lyric-Video ihres kommenden Albums “Imperium” veröffentlicht. Es ist (mit der heurigen Neuaufnahme von “Where the Gods Return”) das fünfte Album der Deutschen aus Hamburg. Aufgenommen wurde die Scheibe im Skull Tones Studio in Hamburg von NINO HELFRICH.

Das zehnte Lacuna Coil-Album steht in den Startlöchern! Es wird den Titel "Sleepless Empire" tragen - alle Infos zum Album und der schon heute erscheinenden ersten Single hier.

Zunächst einmal kann es überraschen: Die Produktion ist um einiges fetter geworden als auf dem Vorgänger, der kraftvolle Krächzgesang zurückgefahren, dafür alles andere – melodischer Gesang, Folk-Instrumente, Keyboards, Tuten und Blasen – auf 11 gedreht. Dazu kommt ein Drumcomputer, der nicht stört, weil er 1. perfekt programmiert ist und 2. solche Musik für ein Kind der 90er wie mich, der mit Computerspielsoundtracks aufgewachsen ist, durchaus ein bisschen künstlich klingen darf (vgl. SUMMONING oder CALADAN BROOD).

Dabei schafft Abysmal Specter mit CURTA’N WALL etwas ganz Wunderbares: den Spagat zwischen Albernheit und Ernsthaftigkeit zu meistern, den Komik braucht, um wirklich gut zu sein. Alles an diesem Projekt, von den “Bandfotos” übers Artwork bis hin zu den Texten ist komplett großartig albern, aber die Musik selber ist – das beweist allein schon die ellenlange Liste an Gastmusikern – perfekt auskomponiert, aufwändig instrumentiert und alles in allem einfach aufrichtig und ernst gemeint, und so darf ich mich als Hörer gleichermaßen in den lieblichen Melodien verlieren und mich darüber kaputt lachen. Oder, was auch ganz schön ist, mit Kleinkindern dazu tanzen. Geht alles!

Nichtsdestotrotz war ich anfangs ein wenig enttäuscht von “YR GWYDDBWYLL”. Warum? Ganz einfach: Auf “Siege Ubsessed!” war die Balance zwischen fiesem Black-Metal-Gesang und dem ganzen quietschesüßen Rest für meinen Geschmack ziemlich perfekt, auch der teilweise etwas dünne Sound passte dazu. Ihr kennt das legendäre IMMORTAL–Video, unterlegt mit Benny-Hill-Musik? So ähnlich wirkte CURTA’N WALL auf mich: eine willkommene humoristische Erfrischung in einer Szene, die sich oft viel zu ernst nimmt.

“YR GWYDDBWYLL” ist das mit Abstand ambitionierteste Werk von Abysmal Specter
Nun aber hat sich der werte Herr Specter in äußerst ambitionierter Manier offenbar entschlossen, sein Werk noch um einiges süßer und professioneller zu machen, hat massenhaft Chöre und Klargesang hinzugefügt und den Sound eben viel fetter gemacht; das Ganze geht also jetzt richtig in Richtung GLORYHAMMER und Co., wirkt dadurch paradoxerweise deutlich weniger humorvoll – und daran muss man sich erstmal gewöhnen.

Hat man das geschafft, fällt allerdings auf, dass zum Einen der charakteristische Krächzgesang durchaus noch vorhanden ist und sich mit z.B. “Hill Fort” oder dem Klassiker “Siege Tower” nach wie vor Lieder der alten CURTA’N-WALL-Schule auf dem Album befinden – und dass zum Anderen die Songs an sich einfach grandios sind und in der richtigen Stimmung einfach unverschämt viel Spaß machen. Hinzu kommen mit der mittlerweile dritten Version des Liedes “Fear Of God” (in dem wir den angesprochenen Kontrast zwischen Black Metal und Folk-Pop nochmal am schärfsten und humorvollsten erleben), dem genialen “Hill Fort” und dem Epos “The Last Wizzard” drei Highlights, die den Kaufpreis schon alleine wert sind.

Wir halten also fest: “YR GWYDDBWYLL” ist für alle Metalheads mit kindlichem Gemüt und ohne Stock im Arsch mindestens einen Anspieler wert. Wem es zu süßlich und zu hi-fi ist, der greife zu “Siege Ubsessed!” oder zu den noch älteren Aufnahmen.

LACUNA COIL stellen ihr zehntes Studioalbum mit der neuen Video-Single “Oxygen” vor. Zuvor teilten die Italiener den Track “Hosting The Shadow”.

Die neue Platte trägt den Titel “Sleepless Empire” und erscheint am 14. Februar 2025. Durch das gesamte Album zieht sich ein Thema, wie die Band berichtet:

 „Sleepless Empire fängt mit unseren Augen das Chaos einer Generation ein, die in einer digitalen Welt gefangen ist, in der soziale Medien deine Identität aufzehren und dich jeden Tag mehr zu einem seelenlose Zombie macht. Wir sind gefangen zwischen der analogen und der modernen Welt, schauen dieser Entwicklung zu und suchen nach dem tieferen Sinn. Jeder Song ist eine Reise in Richtung Rebellion, ein verzweifelter Schrei, um sich in einer Ära, die ihren Sinn für Zeit und Realität verloren zu haben scheint, wieder zu finden.“

“Sleepless Empire” kommt mit einer Produktion von Marco „Maki“ Coti Zelati übernommen, das Artwork wurde von dem  italienischen Künstler Roberto Toderico gestaltet. Außerdem sind die Gastsänger Randy Blythe von LAMB OF GOD bei dem Song „Hosting the Shadow“ und Ash Costello von NEW YEAR’S DAY bei „In The Mean Time“ zu hören.

Auch zu “Sleepless Empire” hat die Band ein Spiel entwickelt, das mit speziell angefertigten Würfeln gespielt werden kann und in der Box-Set-Version von “Sleepless Empire” erhältlich ist. Nicht das erste Spiel von LACUNA COIL: Es gibt bereits das Kartenspiel „Horns Up“, LACUNA COIL haben außerdem zum Brettspiel Zombicide den Track „Never Dawn“ geschrieben.

Die Progressive Metal-Band UNPROCESSED hat nach “Sacrifice Me” mit “Dark, Silent And Complete” einen neuen Track samt Clip veröffentlicht. Zu hören sein wird dieser voraussichtlich auch auf der für Oktober 2024 angekündigten Headline-Tour durch Europa. Dabei will das Quartett sein aktuelles Album “…And Everything In Between” (2023) live vorstellen.

Halt macht die Formation dabei u.a. in Köln, Hamburg, München, Berlin und Frankfurt. In Österreich steht eine Show in Wien auf dem Programm, in der Schweiz geben UNPROCESSED ein Konzert in Zürich. Für das Vorprogramm konnten AVRALIZE gewonnen werden.

Mit “Undead Remains” wird am 11. Oktober 2024 die neue EP der Death Metal-Band MEMBRANCE erscheinen. Die Scheibe folgt auf das dritte Album der Italiener “Undead Island” (2023) nach.

“”Undead Remains” zeigt, was von den Sessions unseres letzten Albums “Undead Island” übrig geblieben ist: Es handelt sich um ältere und etwas experimentellere Stücke, an denen die Band noch während der Aufnahmen zum Album gearbeitet hat. Aus diesem Grund wurden sie nicht in das Album aufgenommen, da wir ihnen bei einer späteren Veröffentlichung mehr Aufmerksamkeit schenken wollten”, erklärt die Band aus Venedig.

Die EP wurde mit einem Cover-Artwork von Francesco Cagali ausgestattet und von Luca Cocconi gemastert. Vorab gibt es zum Opener “Corpse for Sale” ein Lyric-Video.

Über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren hat das engagierte Trio von ÄERA – Milan Sikorski, Simon Wiedenhöft und Sven Strefel – ihre kollektive Kreativität in die Gestaltung der Klanglandschaft ihres neuesten Werks gesteckt. Inspiriert von Christian Morgensterns hypnotisierendem Werk „In Phantas Schloss“ verspricht das kommende Album „Phantast“, den Hörer auf eine außergewöhnliche Reise durch innere und äußere Welten mitzunehmen, Perspektiven zu verzerren und so Einblicke in eine Welt außerhalb der gesellschaftlichen Zwänge zu geben. „Phantast“ schafft einen Raum voller Möglichkeiten und Fantasie, aber immer mit Bezug zur Realität, um Kontraste und Missstände aufzuzeigen.

Der Name der Band, der auf einen alten deutschen Dialekt zurückgeht, in dem ÄER für „Erde“ steht, spiegelt die Essenz ihrer lyrischen Erkundungen wider, die sich auf die Werke literarischer Größen wie Jean-Jacques Rousseau und Christian Morgenstern stützen. Palladium, Cologne, Germany 20th September 2024Madness - “C’est La Vie Summer Tour 2024” - Support: Boss Capone & Patsy MADNESS is one of the representatives who popularised Ska-music in the 1980s and made it accessible to a wider audience. A style of music that has its roots in reggae and became better known beyond the borders of its home country Jamaica as early as the 1950s. On their “C’est La Vie Summer Tour 2024”, the British boys from MADNESS visited the Palladium in Cologne. Visitors even came to Cologne from neighbouring countries. There were fans from the Netherlands, France and even the United Kingdom. Everyone wanted the same thing, good music and to see the still active MADNESS live again. BOSS CAPONE & PATSY travelled from the Netherlands as the support band. The band is no longer unknown in the Ska and Reggae scene. Even before BOSS CAPONE & PATSY took to the stage, the visitors were entertained by a DJ with classic Reggae and Ska.

Surrounded by the rain-slicked streets of Seattle and the lingering echoes of its grunge past, Ghost Fetish emerges from the shadows once again with the video for their latest single, “Taste of Heaven.” Tapping into a myth as old as storytelling itself, the band intertwines their sound with the deep cultural resonance of Faustian bargains and celestial reckoning. The single’s artwork, fittingly, features a still from F.W. Murnau’s 1926 film adaptation of Goethe’s Faust, capturing the dramatic moment where the Archangel proclaims Mephisto’s defeat. “This is the first track we’ve produced all by ourselves and we wanted it to be an experiment, but also a simple and loving effort of Gothic Synth Pop,” says the band.

Lyrically,  Taste of Heaven plunges listeners into the murky depths of love’s treacherous duality, where life and death collide in a seductive embrace. With crackling synths and a relentless pulse, the Seattle-based band merges the shimmering echoes of new wave and synth-pop with the tenebrous allure of goth, crafting a sound that bridges the past and present. This haunting track lays bare their primal, stripped-down energy, a dark waltz between desire and mortality that teeters on the edge of the abyss.

The music video, shot in part, on grainy 8mm film by Brooklyn filmmakers Mike Sutter and Alyssa Traitz, adds another layer of texture to the track’s haunting mood. Filmed in a whirlwind twelve-hour session at Mosswood Loft in Seattle’s Capitol Hill, the video captures movement artist Hannah Rice as she spirals through a feverish, dreamlike performance. Her dance becomes an expression of the track’s dark energy, merging with the band’s looming presence as shadows flicker and blur across the screen. The 8mm aesthetics woven in the video give it a nostalgic yet unsettling feel, as if you’re watching a lost fragment of cinema’s haunted past intertwined with an old-school goth band hanging out like bats in their loft. And much like the pact Faust makes—it’s a beautiful yet damning deal.

Die Death Metal-Band LIVING GATE hat mit “Suffer As One” ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist nach der 2020er-EP “Deathlust” das erste Album der Band rund um Bassist Aaron Rieseberg (YOB) sowie Sänger und Gitarrist Levy Seynaeve (WIEGEDOOD). Release-Termin ist der 25. Oktober 2024 via Relapse Records.

Nun hat die Death Metal-Band mit “Destroy And Consume” einen weiteren Track von Sufer As One” veröffentlicht.

Vorab gibt es neben einem Lyric-Video zu “Hunting Maggots” auch einen Clip zu “To Cut Of The Head Of The Snake”.

Rubbing elbows with contemporaries like Vision Video, Urban Heat, and Rosegarden Funeral Party, Darkwave outfit Redder Moon brandishes a sound that is both sharp and distinctive. They’ve garnered a flicker of critical acclaim, with remixes by well-known artists and a nod from NPR’s Tiny Desk. But what really sets them apart are their dark, haunting melodies—perfect for the twilight hours. The band’s atmospheric riffs and hypnotic beats create a moody, magnetic aura, drawing listeners into their crimson-colored world. Redder Moon is rising, and they’re carving a path through the underground with relentless momentum.

Now, Redder Moon embarks on a new chapter for the band this October, starting with their latest single, “Drown The Fire,” with Jeremiah James taking the reins as lead vocalist and songwriter. The track burns hotter, straying from their typical brooding into a more raw, hard-hitting territory. James’ voice carries a punch, blending lyrical intensity with a fierce post-punk edge. You catch hints of The Sound, The Cult, and early U2 echoing in the background. The guitars blaze, the vocals hit hard, and it all feels ripped from a smoky ‘80s drama, balancing grit with just the right touch of emotional pull. It’s a bold, bristling anthem.

Drown The Fire burns with a mix of gothic pop, alternative rock, and shoegaze, all underscored by rhythmic dance beats that keep it moving. It’s the kind of track you’d expect to hear as the credits roll on an apocalyptic finale, with moody guitars and haunting vocals pulling you deeper into its world. The sound is textured yet sharp, blending meditative calm with a pulse of impending chaos.

The video, starring Christina Jean and directed by LA’s Mary Chicken Soup, paints a picture of growing paranoia of the song. Jean’s character starts her night walking alone through the streets of LA, constantly checking over her shoulder. But it’s inside a dimly lit club, bathed in a deep red glow, where the tension spikes. Manically sketching in her notebook, her anxiety spirals. As she finally makes her way home, the unease doesn’t let up. Safety seems distant, and it’s unclear if her paranoia is justified or just a figment of her unraveling mind.

No one could make me change my mind
One thing’s certain: New Rock City doesn’t quit. Their latest project, Radio 85, began its long journey back in August of 2020. Despite the chaos—the pandemic’s peaks, election noise, and every hurdle thrown their way—the band stayed put in their beloved New York, pushing through the grind. Four long years later, they wrapped up the record, refusing to rush what had to simmer. Through it all, they stuck to their guns, letting the ups and downs shape their sound. Persistence? They’ve got it in spades, and it’s all there in Radio 85.

Since forming in 2012, New Rock City has carved out a distinct sound in the underground of New York City. They mix an eclectic blend of new wave, punk rock, pop, and arena rock, effortlessly moving from the raw edge of rock ’n’ roll to smooth, dream-like pop melodies. Their tracks often erupt into chaotic, psychedelic breakdowns, laced with fierce guitar riffs from Kick and anchored by the solid rhythm section of Tim Kuhl and Steve Conroy. Rossano’s versatile vocals add a touch of euphoria, reminiscent of Pretenders meets Joan Jett, with shades of Billy Idol, No Doubt, and Divinyls.

New Rock City rolls forward with relentless energy, pushing through with their bold, melodic guitar riffs that rise to a feverish peak. The edgy, versatile vocals deliver that gritty rock ‘n’ roll attitude, while the band masterfully carries each track from start to finish with precision. It’s rock with heart and hard edges, much like New York City itself. Radio 85, the full-length album by New Rock City, earnestly recalls the punk glory of 80s New York.

The album opens with the introductory Nice to Meet Ya, a song that brims with rebellion and defiance, touching on betrayal and manipulation. It’s about rejecting false promises, seeking truth and self-reliance. It’s about taking control, breaking free from procrastination, and asserting independence as they embark on a new journey. It’s Hard to Be a Rockstar deals with the tension between independence and support: Stubborn? Emotionally distant? It’s time to face those challenges, so take a few spoonfuls of tough love. Despite the struggle, the message is clear: keep moving, even when it’s hard to walk the path ahead.

Da Ratman! presents a shadowy figure who manipulates and controls, lurking in the darkness, able to escape captivity and set traps for those unaware. The speaker warns of his power, urging caution and trust in equal measure, while acknowledging both light and darkness in people. A Phone Call captures a frantic world spiraling into chaos—fires, looting, and madness surround the speaker as they seek refuge and trust in a collapsing world. The repeated plea to “take the ride” underscores a desire to escape, but fear and uncertainty keep the tension high.

Radio 85 takes a trip down memory lane, drenched in nostalgia. It’s about looking back on a time when life felt smooth, the music from “Radio 85” carrying the weight of youthful dreams. Guitars, cassettes, and vinyl spin through the verses, pulling at the bittersweet feeling of a past that can’t quite be grasped again. Meanwhile, Free World hits with a punch. The speaker’s defiant, ready to rock against a backdrop of chaos and conflict. Rejecting the violence and venom around them, they choose love, independence, and the freedom to live authentically. It’s a rebellious anthem, driven by classic rock grit.

The Frame plays with the push and pull of love, its tension heavy as the speaker demands all or nothing. They’re done with halfway feelings and manipulation, opting to step out of the haze of uncertainty. There’s strength in reclaiming independence while recognizing the need for real connection. Different Love dives into self-doubt, a time when the speaker was lost in fear and self-hatred. Over time, they come to realize love isn’t one-size-fits-all. The journey from needing external approval to finding strength in self-acceptance and faith in their own worth is a powerful arc of growth.

Silver Lining Trap expresses a sense of struggle and frustration. It’s about feeling trapped, wanting to break free from their past and breathe in freedom, yet they find themselves falling into sadness and rules they can’t escape. They plead for help, feeling lost and crawling towards an inevitable downfall, but hoping for someone to hold them back from the edge. Themes of personal turmoil, longing for change, and the fight against emotional traps are central to the song.

Rollin’ reflects a carefree, rebellious energy that embraces life in New York City. Confident in their direction, they revel in the freedom of rock ‘n’ roll and the power of music to dispel doubts. They challenge the idea of being a rebel, while expressing a desire for self-expression and recognition. The song conveys themes of independence, self-assurance, and the exhilaration of being part of a larger, untamed groove.

Lieutenant Greed slices through society’s underbelly, where laziness and lust for wealth reign supreme. Lieutenant Greed himself is the twisted figure pulling the strings—promising pleasure and power while profiting off the weak. Corruption runs deep, and the speaker paints a grim picture of a world where everyone’s complicit in their own downfall. Greed’s grip is hard to shake. In P.I.B., the grind of work and financial strain bites deep. The defiance of the song’s protagonist is clear—they refuse to play by the crooked rules. Still, they strive to rise from the rubble of false promises, with resilience and raw determination fueling the fight for freedom.

Finally, Coney Island is a burst of summer bliss and nostalgia. The song dances through a whimsical world of piña coladas, music, and love by the beach, swept up in carefree days with a lover. Sirens and carnival lights flicker in the background, but the connection between the two steals the show. Summer love, alive and fleeting, takes center stage.

„I used to be happy”, lässt ein verbitterter Timo Rotten zum Auftakt verlauten. Ein turbulentes Gefühlschaos begleitet den Sänger seither – eines, das sich vor allem auch in den Arrangements niederschlägt. Grundsätzlich in der erweiterten Spielwiese von Nu und Alternative Metal unterwegs, dringen OCEANS in aller Regelmäßigkeit in unerwartete Ecken vor. Der Auftakt „Parasite“ liegt etwa irgendwo zwischen Intro und regulärem Song, indem er den folgenden 40 Minuten vorgreift: tief gestimmte Gitarren, leichter Djent- bis Core-Einschlag und sogar Blast Beats blitzen auf, bevor letztere im furiosen „Spit“ direkt das Ruder an sich reißen.

Blackened Nu Metal könnte man das explosive und humorlose Gemisch nennen, das uns hier aufgetischt wird und eine bislang nicht gekannte Seite des Quartetts offenbart. Es ist zweifelsohne Musik für ein modernes Publikum, wie die markanten Breaks und teils akzentuiert dargebotenen Vocals unterstreichen. Nebst kleiner schwarzmetallischer Tupfer verbindet „Click Like Share“ letztlich Djent- und Death-Metal-Riffs zu einem schlüssigen Ganzen.

OCEANS lassen sich auch auf “Happy” das Experimentieren nicht nehmen
Dass nicht jedes Experiment allen Geschmäckern Rechnung tragen kann, ist natürlich selbstverständlich: Der kurze Trap-Part in „Self Doubt 24/7“ lässt nichtsdestotrotz aufhorchen, indem er den Fokus zurück auf das Songmaterial legt, wo ungeniert eingängige Gesangslinien mit Downtuned-Modern-Metal verbunden werden. Eine winzige Spur MESHUGGAH vielleicht? Gut möglich, wenngleich OCEANS ansonsten trotz des überraschend harten Album-Auftakts spätestens mit dem Titeltrack in eine leicht wehmütige Richtung driften. Leise, melancholische Töne schlägt die Band hier an, während Timo Rotten abermals der Erinnerung an bessere Zeiten nachtrauert.

Mit Sprechgesang über orchestralem Bombast eifert „Slaves To The Feed“ derweil FALLING IN REVERSE nach, nur eben ohne den narzisstischen Größenwahn Ronnie Radkes. Nicht allzu weit von EMIL BULLS verorten wir dagegen das getragene „The Birth Of Death“, bis schließlich „In The End There’s Always Pain“ mittels wahnwitziger Ausbrüche und Post-Rock-Vibes einen gefühlvoll-aufwühlenden Schlussakzent setzen darf. Allein ein Happy End ist OCEANS-Sänger Timo Rotten damit nicht vergönnt: Depression und Gefühlschaos nagen immer noch am Gemüt des Frontmanns, der mit seiner Formation aber immerhin auch diesmal wieder aus der Not eine Tugend macht, indem er uns an diesem eindringlichen inneren Konflikt teilhaben lässt.

45 Jahre GRAVE DIGGER: Das feierte die Heavy Metal Band mit einem neuen Album und einer Tour. Die neue Platte “Bone Collector“ erscheint am  17.Janaur 2025, Sänger Chris Boltendahl verspricht Altbewährtes:

Im Oktober 2023 verkündeten GRAVE DIGGER einen Nezugang im Line-up: Seitdem mit dabei ist Gitarrist Tobias „Tobi“ Kersting (STEELHAMMER, ex-ORDEN OGAN). Kersting ersetzt Axel Ritt, der die Band im September 2023 nach 14 Jahren verlassen hat.

Produziert, gemixt und gemastert hat “Bone Collector” Chris Boltendahl, das Artwork kommt vom brasilianischen Künstler Wanderley Perna. Am 11. Oktober wird die erste Single „Kingdom Of Skulls“ veröffentlicht.

Ab Januar 2025 sind GRAVE DIGGER auf Tour und stellen die neuen Songs auch live vor.

Die Thrash Metal -Band ASSASSIN hat mit “Skullblast” eine neue EP angekündigt und den Titelsong im Netz geteilt sowie ein Video zu “Skullblast” veröffentlicht.   Es ist die erste EP der Deutschen, die unter anderem sechs Full-Length-Alben herausgebracht haben.

“Skullblast” wurde von Jean Borman in den Lucky Bob Studios produziert und von Manuel Cohnen bei Parabol Audio gemixt und gemastert. Release-Termin ist der 1. November 2024 via Massacre Records.

The Cure are set to perform a rare, intimate concert for BBC Radio 2 on October 30, but it appears that only UK residents can apply for tickets. Held at the BBC Radio Theatre in London, this special performance offers a small, lucky audience the chance to see the band in a uniquely personal setting just ahead of the release of Songs of a Lost World, their first album in 16 years.

Fans can register for the free ticket ballot here, with applications closing on October 9.

For those unable to attend, the concert will be broadcast on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 2 show from 7-9pm GMT on Halloween, including an exclusive interview with frontman Robert Smith. The band will also perform earlier in the day on Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio 6 Music show, airing between 4-7pm GMT, in a 6 Music Session featuring more tracks from their long-awaited album.

As anticipation builds for the release of Songs of a Lost World, which drops on November 1, fans are already buzzing about The Cure’s next single, “Endsong.” After the band debuted live the track on their recent Shows of a Lost World tour, it’s expected to be released very soon—likely on one of the Fridays leading up to the album launch. The song “Alone” opened the main set and “Endsong” served as the finale before the extended encores. If “Alone” is any indication, “Endsong” promises to be a brooding epic, continuing the melancholic, existential themes of their latest work.

Smith, reflecting on these upcoming performances, said: “It’s not often we perform such intimate shows, so we’re really looking forward to this, and to sharing more tracks from the new album for the first time on 6 Music and Radio 2.”

For those unable to secure tickets, both performances will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer on Halloween night. Additionally, exclusive live tracks from the Radio 2 concert will air on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show on November 1, offering fans yet another glimpse of the new material just as the album is released.

BBC presenter Jo Whiley shared her excitement: “I can’t tell you how excited I am that The Cure will be performing for Radio 2 In Concert. They were my first music obsession and remain so to this day. Robert Smith’s incredible songwriting and haunting lyrics have shaped entire generations of artists.”

The Horrors return once again, retooled and revitalized, unveiling their latest full-length offering, Night Life, set to drop on March 21st, 2025, through Fiction Records. This reconfigured lineup signals not just a new chapter for the band, but a reinvigoration of their original ethos—a return to the raw urgency that once set them apart. To whet the appetite, the UK quintet has revealed the lead single, The Silence That Remains, accompanied by an equally atmospheric video.

This track hints at a band rediscovering their bite, a dark and brooding piece that feels like a deliberate nod to their earlier work while exploring the deeper, more introspective themes they’ve cultivated in recent years.

“The Silence That Remains is a 3am insomnia walk through the city, retracing our steps and putting the past to bed,” says the band. “Our new chapter is beginning and we’re looking forward to taking you with us. The Horrors are never-ending.”

The drums tap a steady, ominous rhythm, footsteps in an empty city, building toward the inevitable crash of a filthy bass guitar, vibrating with the unease of an abandoned cabaret. The tension gnashes its teeth, stretching into twisted silhouettes as the storm swells on the horizon. The lyrics carve into the marrow, heavy with longing and loss, tracing the fractures of the soul. It’s a relentless pursuit through ghost towns of memory, the distance between two figures widening with each passing moment, their silence thick and suffocating. No resolution, only the chilling echo of what once was—haunting, unanswered, and gone.

The Horrors hurled Night Life as if shattering a windowpane of their past, each jagged shard reflecting the raw edge of their early days. The Silence That Remains is no polished artifact but a bruised relic, pulled from the dark caverns where forgotten spirits whisper. The bassline slithers through the fog, low and menacing, while Badwan’s growl claws at Kidd’s breathy whispers—two voices locked in a ghostly waltz, gliding through desolate alleys under a bloodless sky.

Sarah Piantadosi’s video unfolds as a monochromatic nightmare, flickering with grainy unease and fractured time. It staggers forward, as if reality itself has warped, spilling fragments of a fever dream onto the screen. Nightlife animals, trapped in the eerie glow of infrared, glide like specters through a distorted landscape—unsettling reminders of innocence long abandoned.

Badwan looms like a shadowy phantom from a lost Murnau film, his presence eerie and elusive. The band haunts the scene, half-formed in a thick, suffocating haze, as though they exist on the brink of collapse. Shadows cling to their forms, swallowing the last slivers of light, turning them into brooding statues stirring from a cursed slumber. The video drags the viewer into its eerie embrace, a world where innocence lies in ruins, and the darkness refuses to release its grip.

Night Life is The Horrors’ first LP since 2017’s V and the 2021 EPs Lout and Against the Blade, marking the first time The Horrors step forward without their original lineup—absent are keyboardist Tom Furse and drummer Joe Spurgeon. In 2021, the Southend stalwarts announced their shift to a four-piece after Furse decided to step away, stating he’s “more of a maker than a performer,” leaving the rigors of touring behind.

The band’s sixth album showcases a refined roster: Faris Badwan’s brooding baritone still leads, with Rhys Webb’s bass rumbling beneath, while Joshua Hayward’s jagged guitar lines slice through. New blood comes from Amelia Kidd’s atmospheric keys and Jordan Cook, formerly of Telegram, on drums. Their sound, now sharper with experience, reflects both maturity and melancholy.

Badwan and Webb began crafting demos in Webb’s North London flat, the foundation of a record later shaped in Los Angeles with Yves Rothman, known for his work with Yves Tumor and Blondshell. Hayward’s guitar scrawled its final strokes back in London, with Kidd contributing from afar.

“The Night Life here is not the vim and vigour of pubs and clubs,” says the band. “It’s the thoughts that happen under the cover of darkness; the places your mind takes you when the rest of the world is asleep.”

In late November, The Horrors will head out on an intimate UK tour in support of Night Life, stopping in London, Manchester, Leeds, and more. General on-sale tickets will be available here on Friday, October 11th.

Die Thrash Metal-Band THRASHERWOLF hat mit dem Opener “Final Act Of Aggression” ein Lyric-Video ihres kommenden Albums “Inside the Sickened Mind” als Video-Clip veröffentlicht.

“Der Song handelt von einem unterdrückten Individuum, das aus dem Schatten der ihm aufgezwungenen Unterdrückung heraustritt und sich gegen die herrschenden Mächte zur Wehr setzt, indem es den Rest der unterdrückten Massen dazu anstiftet, für ihre gesellschaftliche Freiheit zu kämpfen und sich mit allen Mitteln zur Wehr zu setzen, auch wenn dieser trotzige Akt der Aggression sein letzter sein mag”, sagt die Band.

Im August ist mit “G.B.H” die erste Single des Albums als Video-Clip erschienen.

“Der Track befasst sich mit dem uns allen innewohnenden Bedürfnis, das seit Anbeginn der Zeit in jedem Menschen steckt, Gewalt und Schaden anzurichten. Denn auch wenn einige versuchen, dieses instinktive und ursprüngliche Gefühl zu leugnen, existiert es in uns allen. Wir alle haben schon einmal jemanden so sehr gehasst oder etwas gesehen, was jemand getan hat, das uns so sehr in Rage gebracht hat, dass wir ihm Schmerz und Elend zufügen wollten – das ist es, worauf GBH wirklich einen tieferen Blick wirft: Instinktive Gewalt”, sagt die Band.

“Inside the Sickened Mind” ist nach “We Are Revolution” (2020) das zweite Album der Engländer aus London wurde gemeinsam mit Andy Brook aufgenommen und von Patrick W Engel gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Andrei Bouzikov. Release-Termin ist der 4. Oktober 2024.

PALEFACE SWISS veröffentlichen ihr drittes Album:  „Cursed“ erscheint am 3. Januar 2025, anschließend ist die Metalcore-Band auf Tour.

Als erste Single teilten PALEFACE SWISS ein Video zu “Hatred”. 

Die Songs von ‚Cursed‘ entstanden auf die Kanarischen Inseln, wo die Band mit Produzent und Songwriter Ron Deris in den Misueno Studios zusammenarbeitete, die HELLOWEEN-Sänger Andi Deris gehören. Florent Salfati von LANDMVRKS kümmerte sich um den letzten Schliff der Songs.

Ab Januar 2025 gehen Paleface Swiss auf Release Tour, mit dabei sind THE ACACIA STRAIN und DESOLATED.

Die Symphonic Power Metal-Band AEON GODS hat mit “King Of Gods” ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das erste Album der deutschen Band aus Lübeck rund um das gesangliche Doppel Anja und Alexander Hunzinger (Ex-AETERNITAS) sowie Gitarrist NINO HELFRICH (INNER AXIS).

“King Of Gods”, das Babylonische Legenden und großen Schlachten zwischen den Göttern thematisiert, wurde von Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann (ORDEN OGAN) gemixt und gemastert und mit einem Cover-Artwork von Peter Sallai (BORNHOLM) ausgestattet. Release-Termin ist der 22. November 2024 via Scarlet Records. Vorab gibt es zu “Aeon Gods” einen Video-Clip.

Die estnische Metalcore-Band PRIDIAN veröffentlicht ihr kommendes Album via Century Media, es soll im Frühjahr 2025 erscheinen. Die Wartezeit überbrücken PRIDIAN mit der neuen Video-Single “Near Dark”.

Die Besetzung von PRIDIAN fand im Jahr 2018 zusammen. Das Debut “The Rotten Unknown” erschien 2021 noch unter dem Bandnamen ÆØNS, 2023 folgte die EP “Cybergnosis”.

Die Pagan Metal-Band KROMLEK hat mit “III – III” und “Upphaf” ein Doppel-Album angekündigt. Das Album entstand im Zuge des Comebacks, das die Bayern aus Schweinfurt 2023 zu Ehren des 20-jährigen Bestehens ihres Labels Trollzorn Records gegeben haben, um zwei Konzerte zu spielen. Auch kam man mit dem Release eines neuen Albums dem Verlangen der treuen und geduldigen Fans nach.

Der erste Teil des Doppel-Albums, “III – III”, ist eine Sammlung der neuesten Kompositionen, die in den letzten zehn Jahren entstanden sind. Diese Tracks wurden im Studio von Antric Light Records produziert und im Jahr 2024 gemastert. Thematisch wendet sich das Album an die Ursprünge und Anfänge und erkundet den spirituellen Kosmos der vorchristlichen Philosophie und Weltsicht.

Der zweite Teil, “Upphaf”, bietet eine Retrospektive der Bandgeschichte. Hier wurden ausgewählte Stücke überarbeitet, neu aufgenommen und produziert, um die musikalische Entwicklung von KROMLEK zu dokumentieren.

Zuvor hat die Band mit “Strange Rumours… Distant Tremors” (2007) und “Finis Terræ” (2011) zwei Alben veröffentlicht. Release-Termin ist der 14. November 2024 via Trollzorn Records. Vorab gibt es den Opener “Gigantenwelle” zu hören.
