The Book of Miracles, created in mid-16th-century Augsburg, Germany, is a stunning manuscript that reads like a Renaissance tabloid with a divine twist. Compiled between 1552 and 1564, it captures the era’s blend of religious belief and budding scientific curiosity. Each page bursts with vivid watercolors and gouache paintings, showcasing meteor showers, comets, monstrous births, and heavenly signs. The book’s content includes celestial omens, natural disasters interpreted as divine retribution, biblical end-time scenes, and tales of strange creatures.

Far from just bedtime stories, it documented and interpreted the world’s wonders, reinforcing beliefs in a divine order and imminent apocalypse. Lost in private collections and relatively unknown, it resurfaced in the 21st century, offering a fresh glimpse into Renaissance fears and fascinations. Today, the Book of Miracles is treasured for its artistry and historical value, providing insight into the 16th-century mind and its view of the cosmos.

Suffer Ring, a synth-punk duo from Atlanta, GA, packs a punch with their fourth LP, Book of Miracles, which takes a cue from its medieval predecessor and places it in the 21st century.   Their sound is both aggressive and ethereal, a blend that hits hard and haunts softly.

McCanna and Davenport intertwine their razor-sharp wit with abrasive, synth-driven melodies, crafting tracks that hit as hard as a right hook and captivate with their contemporary parallels to the arcane tome. “Book of Miracles” presents another innovative chapter in their book of boundary-pushing beats and surreal sounds.

“In the early 2000’s, an illuminated manuscript called the Book of Miracles detailing portents of doom from various periods of history ranging from The Old Testament to the 16th century was discovered in Augsburg, Germany. It stands as a record of people’s fear of powers greater than themselves throughout history, whether they be forces of nature or God’s punishment.

“…SUFFER RING’s 4th album is a Book of Miracles for today. In the wake of dead gods and demystified forces of nature, the powers with apocalyptic potential are more mundane and more horrifying than anything god could dream of. It was a hot summer day and with the wonderful weather it was clear that it would be a hot concert evening. Even before the event began, Alec Völkel and Sascha Vollmer were able to inspire THE BOSSHOSS fans at Wasserschloss Klaffenbach with their closeness to the community. Both were in front of the stage after doors opened. Many fans were very happy to have a quick meeting and took the opportunity to take selfies with their stars. With the good mood of the fans in front of the stage and the beautiful backdrop of Wasserschloss Klaffenbach in the background, everyone could look forward to a great event.

The shocking start and finish of 1950’s Sunset Boulevard presents a body bobbing in a pool, leaving us pondering how this mysterious soul, now speaking from the afterlife, met such a tragic end. What twists and turns unfolded in the meantime? The corruption of fame, the cost of clout chasing, and the madness of attention-grabbing antics are nothing new in Tinseltown. From Kenneth Anger’s tea-spilling tome Hollywood Babylon to Mommie Dearest, the OJ Simpson trial and its Kardashian aftermath, and today’s wave of vapid influencers hawking future landfill, Los Angeles has long been the hub of social climbing calamities. It’s a city where the glitter often masks the grime, and where everyone’s scrambling for their fifteen minutes of fame, even if it means losing their sanity. So, while the bright lights dazzle and the red carpets beckon, remember that Hollywood’s shiny façade often hides a much darker reality.

Geneva Jacuzzi’s new single, Scene Ballerina, from her forthcoming album, Triple Fire, playfully mocks our celebrity-obsessed culture. Directed by Thalia Mavros, the video pays homage to Ken Russell’s 1969 film Women in Love, which masterfully adapts D.H. Lawrence’s novel. The film explores the complex lives of two sisters and their relationships, highlighted by Russell’s bold direction. This whimsical tribute blends humor and homage, reflecting on personal and societal tensions.

The “scene ballerina” in the lyrics thrives on overstimulation and attention. She twirls and spins, spreading rumors and secrets, and seeks the spotlight, posing and shouting for all to hear. Her charm ensnares lovers, and she lives in a fantasy world where she believes she’s the center of the universe.

Geneva Jacuzzi stepped into the shoes of The Scene Ballerina with a playful spirit, laughing at herself and bringing a light-hearted touch to the project. This video captures the raw essence of Los Angeles, shining a light on the stark divides that define the city as well as the artists who fuel the underground scenes.

“We all know that person: The Scene Ballerina,” quips Jacuzzi. “Stirring up a whirlpool of drama. Leaping to the center of the spotlight, spinning lies, twisting stories. All for attention. A tragic character. I can name a few ;)”

The video features a cast of characters from the Los Angeles scene, including members of Aurat, La Sombra Luminosa’s G ٠ S ٠ E ٠ D, Sayaka Nono, Mimi Cry, Fuedal, Noisepup, and more!

With Triple Fire, Jacuzzi expands and sharpens her distinctive mix of midnight melodies and mutant aerobics, delivering a 12-track odyssey of eclectic synth-pop and sly, post-apocalyptic camp.

The album was self-produced, and mixed by Chris Coady. It also features musical contributions and additional production from Josh Da Costa, Andrew Clinco of Drab Majesty, and Roderick Edens & Andrew Briggs. On producing the album, Geneva explains, “Halfway through, we started calling this the record of the prophecy, the record that’s going to save mankind.”

Triple Fire is out on August 23rd via Dais Records.

Chicago-based electronic rock band, The Children’s Crusade, announces the release of their new EP, “Remixes Vol. 1”, set to debut on Friday, July 26, 2024. The band which draws influences from groups such as Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode, presents a fresh take on their sound through this collection of remixes.

The EP features three remixed tracks: “Mechanical Love”, “Confess”, and “For You”. The remix for “Confess” was crafted by Faulty Radiator, while Apothecurio handled the remix for “For You”.

The Children’s Crusade, led by vocalist Jason Schmal, is a one-man endeavor in the studio, but transforms into a full band featuring Oscar Peck-Dorr and Max Hatlem during live performances.

Josh Thomas, the mind behind High Diving Ponies and Spidermums, has conjured up a new project called RxGhost. It’s a familiar lineup for those who’ve followed Thomas’s journey—drummer Justin Brooks, guitarist James Capps, bassist Chris Smead, and multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah James. But RxGhost? That’s a whole different beast. It’s a potent dose of what Thomas dubs his “weirdo shoegaze music,” only now it’s bigger, crisper, and cleaner—much like Thomas himself.

The Covid-19 pandemic saw many artists emerging with fresh endeavors, but RxGhost is more like Josh Thomas turning himself into a project. Before the pandemic hit, Thomas was in a tailspin: a divorced, full-blown drunk junkie, holed up in his own guest room. His life was a chaotic blur, juggling a stressful software gig with insane deadlines, drowning in booze, and popping opiates and speed just to keep the pieces together. Now, RxGhost is his lifeline, his rebirth after a stint in rehab.

“I was a mess, my voice was destroyed…” Thomas says of those dark days. “I was an absolute disaster…I didn’t want my kids to grow up without a dad, so I finally went in, mainly for that reason…In rehab, I started writing a bunch again. I had lots of songs that were half-finished from before I got clean. Once I was finally healthy enough to start having band practice, I was lucky that Justin and James were still willing to do it since I’d been so flaky for so many years.”

“I was worried that I couldn’t write sober, or that it wouldn’t be as interesting,” says Thomas. “If anything, it’s easier to write now, and far easier to remember later what I wrote.”

RxGhost’s latest single, Candles, burns with the frustration of a world gone awry. It’s a hard-boiled lament for the powerless, a haunting melody that speaks of passion flickering against the wind. The tune spins a yarn about conflict and complacency, where folks are trapped in an endless cycle, duking it out over crumbs while the fat cats sit pretty.

The sound is raw, yet refined, a testament to the band’s evolution. The melodies are like a punch to the gut, the lyrics a bitter pill to swallow, but it’s a pill that heals as much as it hurts. Thomas’s voice cuts through the distortion, delivering each line with a raw honesty that resonates deep. Candles, off their newest album, Scaffolding, is music for the broken-hearted and the hopeful alike.

“If you keep up with public policy and government handouts, it’s hard to feel like the system isn’t rigged for the investment class,” Thomas says. “Conservatives act like poor people are welfare queens while ignoring that the ultra-wealthy get more handouts than anyone. The middle class is getting fucked by the ultra-rich, and it’s been obvious for a long time. They have a system set up to get the left and right wing fighting each other, while quietly siphoning all the resources out of the system and hoarding it. We could die at any time, like tea candles floating on an ocean, getting extinguished by random waves. This song is about how, even in this current reality, it’s important to try to do interesting things, even when the system is rigged against us. we won’t be here long, let’s do something interesting.”

The video, filmed by Matthew Dunehoo ( MARY CHICKEN SOUP), shows a young woman in a state of depression and desperation – her walls are full of messages of hope and love, but doors slam over and over in her face as she tries to find employment. It’s a story too many of us can relate to – when faced with systemic opposition, sometimes all we can count on is a moment of tranquility as we work through the injustices of a rigged, indifferent class system.

“With Candles, I was eager to embrace and flesh out the metaphor of the candle for the spirit and the volatile experience of trying to keep it together while burning in spite of the elements,” says Dunehoo. “The pace of the song itself seems to always hover right before breaking apart, at the repeated mantra of the “main character” expressing the feeling of being frayed, stretched thin, flickering between stability and losing it when considering a ton of pointless routine shit. I was thrilled to work with up-and-coming hyperpop artist DELARAY! who starred in the video. She knows all about crippling anxiety and struggling with substance use disorder and self-destructive impulses. It was easy to reach that moment, where battling anxiety she tries to go out and do the abysmal job search, and ultimately has to abort the mission as the surging anxiety inside makes her feel as if she’s drowning. A hopeful glimpse at the end, a place that calms the nerves just looking at the planes departing from LAX, maybe portending her journey through the rat race, and her habituated hangups and mental struggles.”

RxGhost has been busy, laying down 15 tracks with Paul Malinowski at Massive Sound. Since those sessions kicked off, Thomas has penned six more tunes, each drenched in the dangerpop and sorrowwave his previous bands were known for. Distortion? Check. Heart-wrenching lyrics? You bet. But now, the melodies stretch further, and the delivery of those sorrowful verses packs a cathartic punch.

Die Modern Metalcore-Band IMMINENCE hat ihr neues Album “The Black” am 12. April 2024 veröffentlicht. Im Oktober 2024 folgt dann eine Europatour mit AVIANA und ALLT (Termine s. unten). Um die Wartezeit zu verkürzen gibt es nun die Single “Death By A Thousand Cuts” in einer alternativen Version mit HOLDING ABSENCE-Frontmann Lucas Woodland. Sänger Eddie Berg erklärt die Neuinterpretation:

„Wir haben so viel von uns selbst in dieses Album gesteckt, und für uns ist es wirklich ‘das Jahr von The Black’. Wir dachten, es wäre interessant, die Songs aus einem neuen Blickwinkel zu betrachten, in diesem Fall mit einem Künstler, der den Tracks neues Leben einhaucht. Lucas ist ein unglaublicher Sänger, und wir verfolgen die Karriere des jeweils anderen schon seit vielen Jahren. Ich fühle mich geehrt, dass er auf einem unserer Songs singt.“

Reinhören ist auch in weitere Songs möglich: Die Schweden haben nun auch “The Black” auf allen gängigen Streaming-Portalen veröffentlicht. Zuletzt teilten IMMINENCE ihren Song “Continuum”, zuvor  “Death By A Thousand Cuts” als Musikvideo bei YouTube .

Außerdem kann man sich den Track “Heaven Shall Burn” als Clip bei YouTube ansehen.

Die Single “Desolation” steht ebenfalls  in Bild und Ton bei YouTube bereit. Auch die Single “Come Hell Or High Water” gibt es als Musikvideo bei YouTube.

Produziert wurde das Stück von Henrik Udd, Eddie Berg und Harald Barrett. Mix und Mastering übernahm Henrik Udd.

Wüstenrock aus Norwegen:  SLOMOSA veröffentlichen am 13. September 2024 ihr neues Album “Tunda Rock” via Stickman Records.

“Tundra Rock” wurde Eirik Marinius Sandvik im Polyfon Studio znd Marinius Studio produziert, das Mastering kommt von Jørgen Træen. Das Artwork ist von Elsa Enestig.

Im Oktober sind SLOMOSA mit GREENLEAF auf Headliner-Tour durch Europa. Auf dem Programm stehen auch Konzerte in Deutschland, Österreich sowie der Schweiz.

Neue Musik von DOROTHY: Die Hard Rock- / Blues Rock-Band hat mit “Mud” eine neue Single als Visualizer-Clip bei YouTube veröffentlicht. Produziert wurde die Nummer, die Rock mit Country-Elementen anreichert, von Scott Stevens. Sängerin Dorothy erklärt:

“Unsere erste Single aus diesem Album ist eine Verschmelzung von Hard Rock, Metal und Country, verbunden mit einem Trap-Beat und würzigem, vielschichtigem Gesang. Es war auch das erste Mal, dass ich mich an einem Schrei versucht habe – darauf bin ich stolz”

The Chicago-based industrial metal band Derision Cult has released their new single and video, “Warning Signs”. The video premiered at Glitch Mode Recordings’ immersive cyberpunk showcase, Tech Noir, on July 20, 2024.

“Warning Signs” is a fast-paced industrial metal track featuring heavy, spoken-word vocals, thrash metal guitars, cyber beats, and guitar by former David Bowie guitarist, Reeves Gabrels.

Lyrically, “Warning Signs” explores the current turbulent cultural climate, highlighting the warnings that surround us. The chorus, “Is it getting real enough yet?” draws from a true story shared by frontman Dave McAnally’s brother, a Naval EOD officer. During a raid, a Hollywood director, witnessing the aftermath of a firefight, was shaken. As a Navy SEAL carried the body of a Taliban member past the director, he chillingly remarked, “Oh, is it getting real enough yet?”

“We had so much fun with the ‘Deaf Blood’ video we couldn’t wait to work with Empire Animae again,” says Derision Cult founder, Dave McAnally. “This time around, we wanted to do a whole different setting and just go crazy with influences from ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,’ Martini Ranch and do things with animation that wouldn’t be possible in a live-action video.”

Tech Noir is Glitch Mode Media’s Cyberpunk Showcase, held in Chicago on July 20th. The event featured the premiere of the “Warning Signs” video and live performance, celebrating 40 years of cyberpunk culture. Tech Noir included performances from nine bands, cyberpunk films, and fashion, all housed in a building that once served as Al Capone’s private club. Tech Noir aims to redefine live music experiences by combining film and music in innovative ways.

Her Absence Fill The World, a Berlin-based Neue Türkische Welle band, has emerged from a two-year hiatus with their latest single, “Light Blue Train,” teasing their upcoming album “Unknown Territories.” 

 The band’s melodies oscillate between feelings of abandonment and pursuit, drawing from classical violin and techno influences crafted during their journey from Ankara to Berlin. “Light Blue Train” showcases atmospheric guitar arpeggios, nods to ’90s and early 2000s indie vocals, and punchy drums, delivering a fresh interpretation of indie rock. The track envelops listeners with its wistful vocals, engaging synth leads, and gentle beat, creating a hypnotic ambiance ideal for a leisurely journey or drifting into slumber.

Hailing from their self-run DIY label, U-Boddin Records, in Berlin, the track combines melancholy heartache with a hypnotic electro vibe. Mixed by Sonny DiPerri and mastered by Dave Cooley at Elysian Mastering, it’s a blend of shadows and beats.

Her Absence Fill The World’s music, deeply reflective of their unique sound and diverse cultural influences, has previously graced a variety of independent dark scene labels, including Detriti Records, Cold Transmission, and Oraculo Records. Their exceptional talent and burgeoning potential have started to carve out their niche within the underground dark-wave music scene.

They emerged as the headliner of the Art Carnival Festival in Gröningen (NL) last summer and have graced the stages of subterranean clubs and festivals in Berlin such as Christa Kupfer and Kiezfest Neukölln. They also claim the distinction of being the resident artists and founders of the cross-border music project, NCOUNTERS Berlin.

The duo made their vinyl debut with “Dead Hands” on Oraculo Records and recently wrapped up a mini tour in Germany, leaving their imprints in cities like Leipzig, Frankfurt, and Berlin.

Die Gothic / Doom Metal-Band EVIG NATT hat einen Labeldeal bei WormHoleDeath Records unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Norweger ihr neues Album “Vaketimen” veröffentlichen. Das vierte Album der 2002 gegründeten Band soll in den kommenden Monaten erscheinen.

Vorab gibt es mit “Når Lyset Svikte” einen Video-Clip. Übersetzt mit “Wenn das Licht versagt” tauche der Track in die Tiefen der Verzweiflung ein und erforsche die Gefühle der Kapitulation vor der Dunkelheit, wenn der Wille zu kämpfen schwindet.

“Black Magic” is the third album by Italian Dark-Wave/Post-Punk band They Die. As with their previous works, their sound is characterized by a bleak and dark atmosphere, reminiscent of bands like The Sisters Of Mercy and Suspiria. The album features a perfect blend of somber guitar riffs and melodic synth arrangements, creating a hauntingly beautiful soundscape. The Dark Night of the Soul, by St. John of the Cross, is a poetic plunge into the soul’s struggle toward God. This 16th-century Spanish mystic and Carmelite friar penned eight stanzas that chart the soul’s shadowy sojourn through spiritual suffering; a scene where desolation and dryness play the lead roles, leaving the soul feeling ditched by the Divine.

The poem packs a punch with its themes: purification strips away worldly baggage, divine love keeps the soul’s engine running, and mystical union is the grand finale where peace and joy take the spotlight. Transformation is the kicker—the soul comes out the other side tougher, leaner, and locked in with God’s will.

St. John’s blend of poetic flair and contemplative depth has made this work a cornerstone of mysticism as well as a launchpad for creativity for artists such as David Lynch.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are set to unleash their new album Wild God next month, and they’ve teased us with a third early taste, Long Dark Night. Inspired by Dark Night of the Soul, this track promises the moody mix of melancholy and mischief that only Cave can conjure.

“Long Dark Night is inspired by one of the greatest and most powerful poems of conversion ever written,” Cave says. “Ultimately, though, it’s a beautiful country tune. It feels like a sweet companion to the song, ‘Wild God.’”

The road to creating Long Dark Night was an arduous one for Cave, who complained about the process.

“I don’t like writing songs,” Cave said. “To write a song is this deeply mysterious, abstract, anxiety-ridden process that’s just not fun. Playing around with the kid is fine, but to get the kid out is a fucking nightmare. So I put it off until I can’t put it off any further.”

Long Dark Night is a ballad brimming with that moment of reckoning, reminiscent of songwriters like Kris Kristofferson and Gordon Lightfoot. It dives into the depths of despair, detailing the fears that hitch a ride and the mystery that lurks when the long, dark night is done. It’s a melodic mix of melancholy and marvel, with Cave’s signature wit adding a touch of light to the shadowy serenade.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are set to release Wild God on August 30th via Bad Seed/Play It Again Sam. The band—Cave, Ellis, Thomas Wydler, Martyn Casey, Jim Sclavunos, and George Vjestica—wrote and recorded Wild God at Miraval Studios in the French City of Provence and at Soundtree Studios in London.

Wild God marks Cave’s eighteenth collaboration with the Bad Seeds and follows the critically acclaimed Ghosteen from 2019. In addition,  Cave also worked on Carnage with Warren Ellis of the Bad Seeds in 2021. Wild God is a collaborative production effort between Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, with David Fridmann handling the mixing. The album features contributions from Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood on bass, with whom Cave toured last year, and Luis Almau on nylon string and acoustic guitar.

This year, we celebrated the festival’s 30th edition, a significant milestone in itself. To mark the anniversary, the organizers invited bands that have been mainstays of the festival line-up, including DIORAMA, XIII STOLETI, and CLOSTERKELLER.

Rising from the stark crop of US underground acts reshaping the American Deathrock and UK post-punk aesthetic, Atlanta-based stalwarts En†er†ainmen† continue to deliver a raw, bleak, and biting sound. Their music brings stark darkness drenched in glammed-up desperation and fractured grooves, a welcome contrast to the age of laptop bedsitters mimicking algorithmic gothic moves.

The lineup features Trey Ehart handling vocals, guitar, bass, and synth; Bari Donovan pounding the drums and percussion; Jim Groff working the synth; and Henry Jack holding down the bass. Together, they conjure a sound that’s as sharp as a switchblade and as bleak as a rainy night in a seedy part of town. En†er†ainmen† is here to remind you that the underground is alive and kicking, even if it’s wearing a tattered leather jacket and a sneer that could cut glass.

The Horror I & II EPs and the singles that came before were penned in isolation by Trey Ehart in 2022, scribbled late at night in various condos and rehearsal spaces around Atlanta. Built on backing tracks laid down by the band pre-Covid, these songs were initially meant as demos before heading to the studio to remix and re-record with Atlanta producer Kristopher Sampson.

These tracks carry a hazy, atonal aesthetic and tackle themes of dislocation, lust, desire, loneliness, and separation. They filter these themes through a lens of fetishized romanticism and romantic fetishism. This is music for 3 A.M., for those hovering outside windows, smearing blood on glass, and playing the part of a voyeur looking in.

En†er†ainmen† serves up a blend of raw emotion and eerie allure, perfect for anyone who finds comfort in the shadows and thrives on the thrill of the unknown.

Limited to 200 copies, the Horror LP bundles the Horror I & II EPs with the 2021-22 singles “Maggot Church” and “Voyeur” (CD only), all remastered and repackaged by Stickfigure Records (LP) and Batcave Records (CD).

The CD throws in some seasoning with remixes by Subvon (Tom Ashton, March Violets), INHALT (Matia Simovich), Delphine Coma, and Matt McJunkins (Poppy, Puscifer, Beta Band). It’s a collector’s item for those who appreciate the darker side of the dial.

En†er†ainmen† serves up this sinister selection with a sly grin, ensuring fans get their fill of eerie elegance and haunting harmonies. It’s music that’s as sharp as a stiletto and twice as stylish, perfect for those late-night escapades where shadows dance and whispers linger.

San Francisco’s industrial rockers Everything Goes Cold make their eagerly anticipated return with the release of their new single “Nadir.” This haunting track unveils a spacious, desolate industrial soundscape, seamlessly blending haunting guitars, resonant drums, menacing synth atmospheres, and forlorn darkwave vocals. It’s a chilling reminder of the band’s ability to craft deeply immersive, dystopian sonics, and a potent declaration of their enduring relevance in the industrial scene. “Nadir” encapsulates the icy heart of Everything Goes Cold: brooding, atmospheric, and unrelentingly intense.

Ever since their last appearance, Everything Goes Cold’s frontman, Eric Gottesman, has been anything but idle. He’s been keeping a busy schedule outside the band, playing keyboards and bass with more groups than you can patch into a synthesizer, including Ayria, Caustic, and Haujobb.

“Nadir” marks Everything Goes Cold’s gritty comeback after a decade, diving headfirst into a post-apocalyptic disaster vibe while holding onto their signature blend of melodic songcraft and electronic thunder. This is dark music for a darker world, with Gottesman spinning his sinister spell.

But don’t be fooled by the grim themes; the band’s twisted humor and quirky imagery remain intact. Gabriel Roland, the band’s longtime visualist, helms the retrofuturistic clip with style. Expect a VHS treatment, lo-fi glitches, and surrealist animated touches, including their quintessential cartoon refrigerator seething with renewed rage for a rough new era.

The video also features guitarist Jamie Cronander (Combichrist), keyboardist Morgan Tucker (Crashfaster), and drummer Mike Blodgett (Dark Monarch).

Everything Goes Cold burst onto the scene in 2007. Their debut album, Prepare to Be Refrigerated, hit the streets in 2009, flaunting a signature mix of dark humor and heavy beats. Over the years, they’ve kept up a relentless touring schedule, collaborating with notable artists across the EBM and industrial scenes.

Everything Goes Cold’s last full-length, 2014’s Black Out the Sun (Metropolis Records), delved into 8-bit chiptune sounds through the gritty lens of classic WaxTrax!-style industrial music. But their latest effort aims to bridge the gap between the insular traditional industrial scene and the cutting-edge realms of darkwave and EBM.

An intense remix for Nadir by Susan Subtract (High Functioning Flesh, Physical Wash) drives home the ambitious scope, with top-notch production from INHALT’s Matia Simovich. The result is a hard-hitting blend that’s both sharp and shadowy.

Nadir releases digitally on July 23th through Pittsburgh’s Distortion Productions.

Die Rock-Band HERBST hat einen neuen Song geteilt: “Tausend Fragen” steht ab sofort auf den üblichen Streaming-Plattformen bereit.

Auch die vorherige Auskopplung “Argumente” kann man sich auf allen gängigen Streaming-Plattformen anhören. Zuvor veröffentlichte die Gruppe außerdem einen Clip veröffentlicht: “Spiegel” steht via YouTube in Bild und Ton bereit. Zum Stück verrät die Gruppe:

“Der Song ‘,Spiegel’‘ entstand ebenfalls – wie unsere erste Single – am Anfang der Songwriting-Sessions 2023 und gab mit dem groovy Riff ziemlich schnell ein spannendes Thema vor. Nach den ersten geschriebenen Zeilen, und zwar der Refrain-Hook, kristallisierte sich das Thema ,,Spiegel‘‘ (Spiegelbild) heraus und schrieb sich dann praktisch von selbst (wenn’s mal so einfach wäre ).”

Zuvor hatten HERBST einen Plattenvertrag mit Drakkar Entertainment abgeschlossen. Das gab die Formation in einem Statement bekannt:

“Wir sind überglücklich und stolz verkünden zu können, dass wir einen Deal beim legendären Plattenlabel ,,Drakkar Entertainment‘‘ unterschrieben haben! Es ist ein absoluter Traum, mit einer so angesehenen Institution zusammenarbeiten zu dürfen, die bereits zahlreiche Größen des Rock und Metal unter Vertrag hat und wir können es kaum erwarten, schon bald unsere Musik einem noch größeren Publikum zu präsentieren.”

Gleichzeitig präsentierte die Formation ihre Single “Nie wieder” mit einem Musikvideo bei YouTube. Es ist der erste Vorgeschmack auf das Zweitwerk “Spiegel”, das am 20. September 2024 via Drakkar Entertainment erscheinen wird.

“‘Nie wieder’ war der erste Song der Recording-Session für unser zweites Album und beinhaltet gleich mal ein hartes Thema: Eltern verlassen ihre Kinder. Dass die sich dann verschließen und gefühlskalt werden können, ist hier unser Thema. Bezeichnend der Satz: ‘Was ich in mir trage, bleibt für immer begraben.‘’ Der düstere Sound fängt diese Stimmung passend perfekt ein.”

Die Post-Rock / Post-Hardcore-Band ENVY hat mit “Eunoia” ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das achte Album der Japaner und folgt der 2022er-EP “Seimei” nach.

“Das Konzept des Albums bestand darin, uns ehrlich mit unserer eigenen Ohnmacht auseinanderzusetzen. Die Suche nach ein wenig Hoffnung und die Aufzeichnung der Emotionen aus dem täglichen Leben in einer tagebuchartigen Art und Weise”, erklärt Bandgründer und Songwriter Nobukata Kawai.

“Eunoia” wird am 11. Oktober 2024 via Pelagic Records erscheinen. Vorab gibt es den Track “Beyond the Raindrops” zu hören.

Am 25. und 26. Oktober 2024 findet in der MatriX Königsbrunn bei Augsburg (PLZ 86343) die Herbstausgabe des MAMMUT FESTIVAL 2024 statt. Zuletzt feierte die Eventreihe im Mai 2024 ihr Jubiläum.

Tickets für das Event gibt es für 33,-€ über die offizielle Festival-Website. Tagestickets schlagen mit 18,-€ (Freitag) bzw. 22,-€ (Samstag) zu Buche. Der Eintritt für Kinder unter 14 Jahren ist frei, müssen allerdings von einem Personensorgeberechtigten begleitet werden.

Ten years after the release of “Black Out the Sun” (Metropolis Records, 2014) the San Francisco, California-based act Everything Goes Cold returns with a brand new single, “Nadir”.

“Nadir” was released today on all digital and streaming platforms through Pittsburgh’s own Distortion Productions. Everything Goes Cold worked with Inhalt’s Matia Simovich to produce the
single. A remix by Susan Subtract of Physical Wash is also included next to an instrumental version.

A new music video to complement the single is out as well and was directed by Gabriel Roland, longtime live visualist for Everything Goes Cold.

In vielen nordischen Mythen verfügen Stimmen über magische Kräfte. Unter dem Namen WHISPERING VOID erforscht und verkörpert ein Kollektiv renommierter Musiker von Norwegens Westküste auf ihrem Debütalbum "At the Sound of the Heart" diese alten Traditionen. Alle Bandmitglieder brachten einen Teil ihres musikalischen Hintergrunds in WHISPERING VOID ein: Die unverwechselbaren Stimmen von WARDRUNAs Lindy-Fay Hella und ihrem männlichen Gegenpart Kristian "Gaahl" Espedal ziehen Zuhörer mit einer enormen Bandbreite an Techniken und Tönen unwiderstehlich in ihren Bann. Gitarrist Ronny Stavestrand und ENSLAVED-Schlagzeuger Iver Sandøy kombinieren auf "At the Sound of the Heart" unter anderem Ambient, psychedelischen Prog und Rock mit Klängen aus dunklem Folk und Metal zu etwas, das im Kern nordisch klingt, aber über die vielen bereits erforschten Sounds hinausgeht. Der kreative Funke, der das Feuer von WHISPERING VOID entfachte, kam aus einer langen Zeit musikalischer Experimente von Ronny Stavestrand. Der Gitarrist hatte viele Jahre in der legendären Underground Black Metal Band TRELLDOM des herausragenden Sängers Kristian "Gaahl" Espedal verbracht. Espedal war mit GORGOROTH zu notorischem Ruhm gelangt und hat inzwischen mit GAAHLS WYRD einen weiteren eigenen Kanal für seine Kreativität etabliert. Daher lag es für Stavestrand nah, Espedal um dessen Mitwirkung bei WHISPERING VOID zu bitten. Der Sänger stimmte zu und als bei der gemeinsamen Erkundung neuer Klangdimensionen der Bedarf nach einer weiblichen Stimme aufkam, war Gaahl aufgrund seines früheren Mitwirkens bei WARDRUNA sofort bewusst, dass die charakteristische, kraftvolle Stimme von deren Frontfrau Lindy-Fay Hella, die sie auch in ihren eigenen Projekten einbrachte, perfekt zu WHISPERING VOID passen würde. Zum Glück folgte die Sängerin gerne dem Ruf des Duos. Das Quartett wurde schließlich durch Iver Sandøy als Schlagzeuger und Bassist komplettiert, der sein makelloses musikalisches Feingefühl und Timing schon vor einigen Jahren in den Dienst von ENSLAVED stellte, und sich zuvor bereits mit der progressiven Band EMMERHOFF & THE MELANCHOLY BABIES einen Namen gemacht hatte. Das Ergebnis ihrer kollektiven Studioexperimente und ihres kontinuierlichen Austauschs ist eine einzigartige Mischung aus den diversen Einflüssen, welche die Bandmitglieder repräsentieren. Auf "At the Sound of the Heart" finden sich Elemente aus Ambient, Dark und Nordic Folk, psychedelischem Prog, Rock und viele weitere Zutaten, die WHISPERING VOID nahtlos zu einem ebenso einzigartigem wie frischem musikalischen Ganzen kombinieren. Die Musik der Norweger lässt sich am besten individuell erleben und einordnen, doch eines steht fest: In "At the Sound of the Heart" ertönt pure Magie!
