Die griechische Dark Metal-Band NIGHTFALL stellt nach einem Video zu „I hate“ und einem Lyric-Video zu „The Cannibal“ mit dem Video-Clip zu „With Outlandish Desire to Disobey“ einen weiteren Song ihres neuen Albums vor.

„Dieser Song handelt davon, seinen eigenen Weg im Leben zu gehen“, sagt Sänger Efthimis Karadimas. „Es geht darum, keinem Wort zu trauen, das aus dem Mund unserer Betrüger kommt, ihren Versprechungen für ein besseres Morgen nicht zu trauen, wenn heute ein weiterer Tag des Leidens ist. Wir mögen uns für den falschen Weg entscheiden, aber es ist unsere verdammte Entscheidung.“

Die neue Platte „Children Of Eve“ erschien am 2. Mai 2025 via Season of Mist. Jacob Hansen kümmerte sich um Mix und Mastering von „Children Of Eve“.

Während NIGHTFALL in den 2010er Jahren eine Pause einlegten, wurde bei Sänger Efthimis Karadimas eine Depression diagnostiziert. Jetzt trägt er eine schwarze Maske, die sein halbes Gesicht verdeckt, um zu symbolisieren, wie es ist, unter dem unsichtbaren Schleier einer psychischen Krankheit zu leben. „Wir können darüber reden. Wir können darüber singen“, sagt er, die Band ist außerdem in der Initiative Metal Music Against Depression (MMaD) aktiv, die vom Europäischen Bündnis gegen Depression in Deutschland unterstützt wird. „Wir können eine Gemeinschaft aufbauen, die auf Verständnis basiert“.

JOE STUMP’S TOWER OF BABEL kündigen ihr neues Album an. „Days Of Thunder“ erscheint am 4. Juli 2025 über Silver Lining Music. JOE STUMP ist bekannt als Leadgitarrist von ALCATRAZZ, zudem ist er Professor am Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Seine Band TOWER OF BABEL veröffentlichte 2017 ihre Debüt „Lake Of Fire“. Zusammen mit Sänger Jo Amore, Drummer Mark Cross, Mistheria (aka The Maestro) an den Keyboards und Basser Nic Angileri schiebt STUMP nun „Days Of Thunder“ nach.

Like shards of glass exploding in a dimly lit basement bar or a searing blowtorch riff slicing through the cobwebs of decorum, “Causing Trouble Again” is an unbridled catalyst. Gina Birch, co-founder of The Raincoats and an enduring thorn in the side of patriarchy, shouts from the heart of punk’s unruly archive. Her voice, a raspy rallying cry infused with grit and defiance, resonates as she invokes the names of women who boldly rejected the straight and narrow, slipping away through the fire escape into uncharted territory.

There’s no saint-making here, no delicate ode. This is a battering chant, a punk psalm lit by mischief. Birch doesn’t sing about history, she drags it screaming into the room, booting it through the amps. The guitars growl like warning dogs, the bass line marches in steel-toe cadence. Every bar is a nail driven through nostalgia, every beat a refusal to shut up. The climax of the song is a roster of all kinds of rabble-rousers, recited in a style recalling The Divine Comedy’s The Booklovers.

The video, born of a Bob Dylan lyric: “a white ladder all covered with water” – spirals like a dream soaked in gasoline. Trouble, in Birch’s world, isn’t something to avoid. It’s the only honest response.

“I became obsessed with white ladders,” says Burch. “I decided to use five white ladders, three with seven rungs…I realized later that this references Jacob’s Ladder and a connection from Earth to heaven, but I think I was thinking of ladders as a symbol of getting on, getting up. I wanted to have a choreographed movement with four of us with these ladders. How do we move with ladders? Do we move together, do we fight, do we dance? I also wanted to reference the wind scene from the film, The Colour of Pomegranates, and to include as many artist women from the Women in Revolt exhibition as I could. I wanted them to be troublesome, or just to shout “Causing trouble!” I ended up inviting all the artist musician women I knew who could make the shoot, and it was a fantastic meeting of great women, many of whom had never met each other before.

In the clip co-directed by Dean Chalkley and Gina Birch, she’s joined by Ana da Silva (her Raincoats bandmate), Christine Binnie, Amy Rigby, Lora Logic, Daisy Parris, Georgina Starr, Jill Westwood, Bobby Baker, Annie Symons, Shirley O’Loughlin, and more.

Formed in London in 1977, The Raincoats emerged from the punk explosion but quickly carved out their own unruly corner of sound; awkward, angular, anarchic. Founded by Gina Birch and Ana da Silva, the band fused punk’s DIY ethic with elements of dub, folk, and experimental noise, challenging both musical and gender conventions. Their self-titled debut, released on Rough Trade in 1979, became a touchstone of post-punk minimalism, revered by figures like Kurt Cobain, who famously called them “wonderfully classic.”

Birch, a visual artist as much as a musician, brought an instinctive rawness to the band’s sound and ethos. The Raincoats disbanded in the mid-’80s but returned in the ’90s, buoyed by renewed interest from the alternative scene. Birch has since continued to perform, paint, and provoke: her solo work, including her last offering I Play My Bass Loud, carrying forward the band’s fearless, feminist spirit. The Raincoats remain a cult force: jagged, joyful, and unrepentantly original.

Some songs whisper through the veil. But Mausoleum howls. And within its morbid desolation, Provoker, Los Angeles’s post-punk purveyors of dread and desire, channel the acrid perfume of decayed romance through cassette hiss and candelabra synths. Christian Crow Petty’s voice soars to the heights of restraint, weaving forlorn moonlit croons that gracefully dip into falsetto. Behind the helm is producer Kenny Beats, who conjures a track that overflows with emotion, spilling from every sequenced snare and spectral swell.

Mausoleum, the title track from the trio’s freshly interred LP, feels worn-in yet wired, draped in the fog of failed connection. The mix fuses mechanical melancholy and mortal ache: guitars wail like wind through skeletal trees, drum machines hiss like snakes under the floorboards, thick basslines sulk in their corners, and synths flicker like hallway fluorescents on their last breath. Like the lurching undead, the track manages to romantically skulk, both languid AND threatening.

A woman is haunted by the memory of a man, portrayed by an undead Christian Crow Petty, whose loverlorn lament drifts through a moonlit cemetery, singing to her photograph with mournful devotion. Their connection persists beyond death, channeled through pink walkie-talkies, his voice reaching her across time and silence. She feels him near: by the window, in the mirror, in the aching quiet of her grief. She misses him terribly. An unsettling man lingers nearby, offering comfort she cannot receive.

Directed by Muted Widows (Michael E Linn, Nedda Afsari, Michael Zumaya), the stunning video feels laced with imagery via the filmography of Tim Burton. But it’s far from a rehash of Gothic tropes—it’s a full-body possession. The band and filmmakers don’t simply borrow from the past; they inhabit it, draping their haunted house in decay and flickering light until memory becomes theater. Lipstick messages shimmer on glass. Lust, loss, and guilt loop like corrupted tape, each rewind distorting the truth a little more. A ghost, wrapped in ghastly glamour, scrawls warnings in red across a mirror—his love now written in ruin. Part pop panic, part necrotic noir, the visuals elevate the track’s emotional unraveling into something at once ominous, seductive, and devastating.

Provoker understands the dance between dread and desire, and the macabre music of Mausoleum doesn’t just mourn a love lost; it embalms it, applies blush to its cheeks, and sets it waltzing through its ruins.

Provoker emerged from the Bay Area in 2015, initially as Jonathon Lopez’s solo endeavor to craft horror film scores. A chance encounter with vocalist Christian Crow Petty at a screening of The Greasy Strangler led to a collaboration that blended Lopez’s synth-driven experimentation with Petty’s soulful vocals, giving birth to Provoker’s unique sound.

Their debut EP, Dark Angel (2018), marked this fusion, and by 2021, they released their first full-length album, Body Jumper, under the Swedish label YEAR0001. The band continued to evolve with albums like Demon Compass (2023) and Mausoleum (2025), the latter produced with Kenny Beats.

Provoker is hitting the road this spring and summer, bringing their brooding anthems of Mausoleum to stages across North America. The tour kicks off May 17th in Pasadena at Cruel World Festival, and winds through major cities including Brooklyn, Toronto, and Chicago, before wrapping up June 27th at The Independent in San Francisco.

GHOST BATH haben nach dem Video zum Titelsong ihres neuen Albums „Rose Thorn Necklace“ und dem Clip „Well, I Tried Drowning“ nun auch einen Visualizer zu „Vodka Butterfly“ veröffentlicht. Das komplette Album erschien am 9. Mai 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Das Album kommentieren GHOST BATH:

‚Rose Thorn Necklace“ ist sowohl schön als auch grotesk. Es verwischt die Grenzen zwischen Fantasie und Realität und zeigt den Kontrast zwischen etwas Wunderschönem und etwas Ekelhaftem. Ich habe mein Bestes gegeben, mich nicht zurückzuhalten – sowohl musikalisch als auch textlich – und das ist das Ergebnis: depressiver Black Metal mit rohen Emotionen, einzigartigen Melodien und strukturierten Synthies.“

„Rose Thorn Necklace“ entstand zwischen Januar und Juni 2024, das Schlagzeug wurde von Mike Heller in den Heaven and Heller Studios aufgenommen und bearbeitet, während die restlichen Teile von Nameless (Dennis Mikula) in seinem Heimstudio fertiggestellt wurden. Gemischt und gemastert wurde das Album von Jack Shirley. Das Cover-Artwork ist von Ksenija Tarasova.

BATTLE BEAST stellen ihre neue Single „Last Goodbye“ mit einem Musikvideo bei YouTube vor. Die Nummer ist ein erster Vorgeschmack auf die kommende, noch unbetitelte Platte. Das siebte Album soll noch 2025 erscheinen.

Eine weitere Headline-Tournee durch Europa haben BATTLE BEAST schon vor einiger Zeit angekündigt. Station machen werden die Finnen dabei auch in Hamburg, Berlin, Filderstadt, Wiesbaden, Hannover, Leipzig, Nürnberg, München, Saarbrücken und Oberhausen. In Österreich gibt es eine Show in Wien, in der Schweiz steht Pratteln auf dem Programm.

Im Vorprogramm mit dabei sind DOMINUM sowie MAJESTICA.

BATTLE BEAST wollen auf der Tour auch neue Songs präsentieren, wie Bassist Eero Sipilä erklärt – derzeit arbeite man am siebten Album:

BEHEMOTH veröffentlichten ihr 13. Studioalbum: „The Shit Ov God“ erschien am 9. Mai 2025 via Nuclear Blast, zum Release teilte die Gruppe den Clip „Sowing Salt“.

Frontman Nergal erklärt den Albumtitel: Wir haben diesen provokanten Titel bewusst gewählt und auf jegliche Subtilität verzichtet, um eine direkte und polarisierende Aussage zu treffen. Es ist ein trotziger Sprung in die Tiefe, der es wagt, das Absolute auch in der Gosse zu suchen.“

Zuletzt haben BEHEMOTH mit „Lvciferaeon“ einen dritten Song ausgekoppelt. Er folgt auf „The Shadow Elite“, der zweiten Single von „The Shit Ov God“. Ein Video zum Titelsong auf YouTube ist seit Ende Januar zu sehen.

Jens Bogren hat das Album im Fascination Street Studio produziert, das Artwork kommt von Bartek Rogalewicz und Dark Sigil Workshop.

Am 27. Juni 2025 veröffentlichen DURRY ihr neues Album „This Movie Sucks“ via Big Pip Records / Thirty Tigers. Einen Vorgeschmack liefer das Indie Rock-Duo mit dem Clip „Idk I Just Work Here“.

Der Song folgt dem Musikvideo zum Titelstück bei YouTube nach.

Produziert wurde das Zweitwerk von Phil Odom. Die Aufnahmen in einem regulären Studio bezeichnet Austin Durry als „wahr gewordener Traum“ und führt aus:

„Wir haben immer in Kellern und Heimstudios aufgenommen, wann immer wir Zeit und Geld dafür fanden. Aber für dieses Album konnten wir endlich in ein großes Studio gehen, mit einem fertigen Werk in der Hand, und einfach ein ganzes Album aufnehmen. Es fühlte sich so gut an, und ich denke, das kommt in diesen Songs wirklich zum Ausdruck.“

Nach der Veröffentlichung ihres Live-Albums „Live In Los Angeles“ (2024) haben JINJER ein neues Studioalbum herausgebracht. „Duél“ lautet der Titel der fünften Platte, die am 7. Februar 2025 via Napalm Records erschienen ist. Gute eine Woche vor dem Release stellten JINJER den Titelsong vor und haben ein Video zu „Duél“ bei YouTube geteilt. Jetzt legen die Ukrainer mit dem Clip „Fast Draw“ nach.

„Duél“ ist die insgesamt fünfte Single zum neuen Album, zuvor teilte die Band die Singles „Green Serpent“,  „Kafka“, „Rogue“ und „Someone’s Daughter“.

Für JINJER-Bassist Eugene Abdukhanov  sprengt „Duél“  „die Grenzen des modernen Progressive Metal“:

„Es fist kaum zu glauben, dass wir in Kürze unser fünftes Studioalbum veröffentlichen! Dass wir nach all unseren vergangenen Veröffentlichungen bald auch ‚Duél‘ in Händen halten und es mit der Welt teilen dürfen, macht uns sehr stolz. Das neue Album beweist, dass uns Kreativität und Inspiration nicht ausgehen. Unser Antrieb ist, mit jeder neuen Veröffentlichung die beste Musik zu machen, die wir je gemacht haben. Der Songwriting Prozess zum neuen Album war der längste, den wir je hatten. Es hat fast zwei Jahre gedauert, bis alles fertig war. Wir haben in jeder freien Minute, in der wir nicht auf Tour waren, sehr hart gearbeitet, Demos aufgenommen und immer wieder nach dem perfekten Sound für Gitarren, Bass und Schlagzeug gesucht. Tatiana hat zum ersten Mal den Gesang vorproduziert. Keine unserer bisherigen Veröffentlichungen war so sehr bis in jedes Detail durchdacht war wie diese. Duél sprengt die Grenzen des modernen Progressive Metal und bleibt dabei gleichzeitig anspruchsvoll, aufregend und extrem. Den Hintergrund des Songs „Someone#s Daughter“ erklärt Sängerin Tatiana Shmayluk:

‚Someone’s Daughter‘ ist ein künstlerischer Versuch, die innere Welt von Frauen zu beleuchten, die in verschiedenen Szenarien und unter verschiedenen Umständen einen Weg wählen mussten, der historisch gesehen von Männern eingeschlagen wurde. In einer Welt, in der Frauen oft unterschätzt und übersehen werden, sind sie immer noch mächtige Heldinnen, die mit Stärke und Widerstandsfähigkeit durch Schwierigkeiten navigieren, indem sie ganz sie selbst sind und angesichts der Herausforderungen, denen sie sich stellen müssen, Grenzen überschreiten.

‚Someone’s Daughter‘ feiert den Übergang von der Naivität zur Weisheit, von der Schwäche zur Stärke, von der unerschütterlichen Entschlossenheit und der Furchtlosigkeit, mit der unsere Mütter, Schwestern, Töchter und Ehefrauen durch die Widrigkeiten gehen und für Veränderungen zum Besseren kämpfen. Diese Frauen werden oft vergessen, aber sie haben sich Respekt verdient. Meinen haben sie sich verdient, das ist sicher!“

Zuletzt teilten JINJER in Zusammenarbeit mit Audiotree eine Live-Session aus dem Studio. Neben Interview-Ausschnitten umfasst das Video auch die Aufführung der drei Songs „Vortex“, „Wallflower“ sowie „Dead Hands Feel No Pain“ vom noch aktuellen Werk „Wallflowers“ (2021). Aufgenommen wurde diese am 31. August 2023 im namengebenden Audiotree Studio in Chicago.

Once, in the Cold War’s long twilight, we dreamt beneath the weight of satellites and the hum of televisions whispering warnings. The sky, split by contrails and doubt, transformed neighbors into suspects and silence into danger. We pressed red buttons in our nightmares, and woke with mushroom clouds behind our eyes.

And now, again, the air thickens. The glow comes not from fallout, but from small phone screens. We scan and scroll, praying inside for forward motion…anything to prove we’re still alive, while the machine ticks on.

Workers, the new single from Brooklyn’s Observation Room, carries that same electric anxiety. It pulses with factory rhythm and the chill of repetition.  It does what great songs once did: wraps the dread in melody, gives the fear a face, then dares us to dance.

Formed by Marina F while drifting from the stillness of Maine’s woods to the relentless rhythm of New York City, Observation Room trades punk’s jagged thrash for synth-pop’s measured pulse. With the addition of Chloe Olson, bringing bass, synth, and vocal harmonies. the project deepens into something precise and prismatic, threaded with the quiet tension of modern unease.

Workers hums with sterile menace, an ’80s industrial heartbeat locked in glistening circuitry. Synths slice like scalpels, chant-like vocals drone with ritual urgency, and the rhythm clicks forward like machinery too old to question. Think Book of Love’s crystalline sweetness colliding with early Depeche Mode’s stern machinery, Human League’s clipped minimalism, and the sideways charm of the Thompson Twins, as well as the stylish pop groove of Book of Love. The result is sound suspended, caught somewhere between faded nostalgia and present-day paranoia. A hymn for those caught in cycles too vast to name.

Their debut gleams like polished chrome, refracting Reagan-era illusions into today’s digital dread. Observation Room sounds both factory-born and bedroom-forged: mechanical yet tender, cold steel touched by human breath.

Darvaza Wave drift like phantoms through Europe’s northern nights, conjuring gothic glamour and spectral seduction in their latest single, Demons in Your Mouth. The band, an Italian-Danish-Finnish coven born in 2015, alchemizes new-wave shimmer, post-punk propulsion, and electronic dread into their own twilight ritual. Martial drums collide with basslines both brutal and beguiling; synths sweep like frostbitten winds, while guitars glisten with ghostly echoes.

At the core lies Luca Zaniboni’s deep, agile voice, a growling invocation. His vocals vibrate with authority, echoing the swagger of Type O Negative and Sisters of Mercy’s nocturnal allure. Yet beneath this force pulses something subtler: a yearning, a whispered threat, a promise suspended between pleasure and peril. He is flanked by guitarist Saverio Turetta and synth wizard Claudio Zurlo, with drums and electronic bass provided by Riccardo Franzoi.

Lyrically, temptation twists with occult imagery. With Demons In Your Mouth, sex…and rebellion…are sacred rituals. Chants spiral upward like smoke, seducing the listener towards unseen flames. Trust teeters at the edge of surrender, as the track navigates neopagan passions and carnal chaos. Darvaza Wave summon the sinister elegance of The Chameleons, The 69 Eyes, and Charon, blending spiritual transcendence and earthly abandon into a sonic séance, raw yet refined.

The single’s artwork, conceived by Mattia Martini (aka Chus) and sparked by Finnish photographer Lassi-Matti Pääkkönen’s ethereal capture of model Vera Nummi (Lafueras Utopia), adorns official T-shirts available through the band’s social channels—sacred vestments for those bewitched by Darvaza’s dark allure.

Their past offerings are rites unto themselves: Crow’s Tears, a brooding tribute marking The Crow’s 30th anniversary; a spectral salute to The Chameleons’ Script of the Bridge, selected by Darkitalia. Collaborations with visual visionaries Envyda and Exformat Movie srl, remixes by STRANGER DREAMS & MNFCTR, and an ongoing alliance with LA’s Crunchpod imprint amplify their cinematic reach.

Darvaza Wave continues to plunge hands deep into the abyss, returning always with something unsettlingly beautiful, a flicker of illumination amid gothic gloom. Long may their nocturnal ceremony endure.

Binding and blinding as intentions come true
Santa Ana’s The Exile conjure reverb-soaked rebellion on their latest track, Incantation. Born from punk roots tangled in bands like Tozcos and Fuga, this crew now stalks darker alleyways, tapping into the spectral veins of early Siouxsie, 45 Grave, and Super Heroines. Yet beneath the goth-inflected gloom lurks a restless heartbeat: rhythms slow and serpentine, draped in velvet dread.

Incantation unfurls like smoke from ceremonial flame, chants curling upward in cryptic, cautionary whispers. Sigils scorch skin, vengeance vibrates through verses as curses coil tighter, binding victim and conjurer alike. Malevolence struts brazenly under sunlight, unheeding the siren’s fading plea. Defeated youth drift, entranced and entrapped, back into the beckoning arms of a familiar hell.

The Exile (Lex, Lemon, Rory and Chris) masterfully meld goth’s graveyard glamour and punk’s prickly edges, delivering dread with defiant grace. This is ritualistic revelry, delivered darkly, deliciously…music for moonless nights, for souls seduced by gloom.

“The lyrical inspiration for Incantation came after watching the Killing Joke documentary The Death & Resurrection Show,” Lex recalls. “I had been exposed to the world of the occult and magick, but seeing how artists I admired blended it into their music inspired me. The song is also influenced by the atrocities happening in Palestine, a truly evil crime against humanity.”

Drawing from the scorched aesthetic of Target Video and the raw power of GBH’s Give Me Fire, The Exile’s video for Incantation thrums with DIY ferocity. Shot by Bano and edited by Toilet Scum, it was filmed on the rooftop of Gunthers Co. in downtown Santa Ana, with the towering clock deliberately framed as a nod to Orange County’s looming cultural presence. The grain, the grime, the geography—every element feeds the ritual.
