The biggest worldwide music -and not only- gothic festival is back for the 32th consecutive year. There is not a single fan of the new & dark/ EBM/ Industrial/ Gothic scene that hasn’t heard of and furthermore hasn’t dreamt of visiting it, at least once.
From 6 June until 9 June, again more than 20.000 Goths from all over the world are expected to come together again in Leipzig to celebrate the Wave-Gotik-Treffen as THE international gathering of the dark family.

32 years ago, two Gothic people from Leipzig had an unusual idea: They didn’t want
to create yet another dark music festival, but rather a supra-regional gathering of like-
minded fellows for relaxed meeting, chatting and celebrating. When the 1st Wave-
Gotik-Treffen took place in 1992 at the edge of Leipzig with about 2.000 visitors and
just a handful of bands, it is unlikely that anyone imagined that within a few years the WGT would become the largest meeting of Gothic people in the world, taking possession of a whole city every year at Whitsun.
Now, the WGT exists more than a quarter-century…

All over the city, there will be more than 200 bands performing, projects and single
artists covering the whole wide range of Gothic music: from Electro-Pop to Goth-Metal, from EBM to Neofolk, from medieval music to Post Punk.

Apart from famous bands of the scene, you are invited for new discoveries with several less-known real underground bands or artists from the edge of the Gothic music universe. The concerts and events take place at more than 40 venues spread throughout Leipzig, for instance in the vaults of the Moritzbastei, in the splendid cupola hall of the Volkspalast, in the neo-gothic church Heilandskirche and in the historical public bath Stadtbad, as well as in large concert halls. The WGT program will also include beautiful classical music again, such as operas, chamber music, choral and organ concerts.

From its’ beginning, the Wave-Gotik-Treffen has been much more than a music festival: its’ guests may step back to the romantic atmosphere of ancient times at the medieval market place at the Pagan Village (Heidnisches Dorf). We will present authors reading and unusual theatre, cinematic performances will take place. People in historic clothing will gather for a Victorian Picnic in a park. For four days a large hall at the agra-Messepark will be transformed into the biggest Gothic-wares marketplace in the world. In numerous clubs DJs from all over the world will invite you to dance until dawn. There will also be a large fetish party where entrance is only possible by following a strict voluptuous dress code.
A stroll through the winding passages of city centre of Leipzig with its historical buildings of the Renaissance, Baroque and Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) eras is especially worthwhile for art and culture lovers: the entrance to several of Leipzig’s museums is free for WGT-guests.

The inhabitants of Leipzig have become familiar with the Treffen over the last two decades – there are no longer any prejudices and the Gothic guests are very welcome here. The most fascinating aspect of the Wave-Gotik-Treffen is surely its unique magic atmosphere that covers the whole city.
Cheap and entertaining accommodation is available at the huge Treffen camping
ground. To enter, you need a special ticket (called Obsorgekarte), Public transport in
the city is free for all WGT-guests from Friday morning until noontime Tuesday.
Camping:
For camping you need a special ticket called Obsorgekarte (available for 50, – €) that
allows you to stay at the Treffen- Campground (agra-fairground) from June 6th to June 9th.
Parking:
For car parking at the Treffen-area (agra) you have to purchase a parking vignette for
20,- € (including advance sale charges). Parking at the Treffen-area (agra-
Messepark) is definitely not possible without a parking vignette.

Tickets:
4-Day-Tickets for all events within the 30 th Wave-Gotik-Treffen Whitsun 2025 are
available for 170, – € each in advance ticket sale. The Treffen-Event-Ticket includes
the free usage of all public transport within Zone 110 of the MDV (Mitteldeutscher Verkehrverbund), this includes all trams, buses and S-Bahn lines except special lines
e.g. sightseeing tours).

„Back With A Bang“ ist der Titel des achten Studioalbums von KISSIN‘ DYNAMITE, es erschien am 5. Juli 2024. Jetzt gibt es ein weiteres Musikvideo zur Platte: „Queen Of The Night“ bei YouTube.

STEVE HACKETT hat das nächste Live-Album in der Pipeline: Am 11. Juli 2025 erscheint „The Lamb Stands Up Live At The Royal ALbert Hall“ via InsideOut Music auf Vinyl, digital sowie als Doppel-CD mit BluRay. Die Platte enthält einen Live-Mitschnitt aus London – aufgezeichnet wurde dieser im Oktober 2024.

Die Nummer „The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway“ gewährt vorab einen Höreindruck.

Mit der Aufführung feiert STEVE HACKETT das 50-jährige Jubiläum des GENESIS-Albums „The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway“. Der Musiker kommentiert:

„Ich habe mich sehr gefreut, ‚The Lamb‘ auf Tour wieder aufleben zu lassen. Der Abend in der Royal Albert Hall war besonders unvergesslich. Es ist mein Lieblingsort in London und die Atmosphäre dort an diesem Abend war absolut elektrisierend … Ich habe mich sehr gefreut, dass alle Bandmitglieder und Gastmusiker das mit Bravour gemeistert haben!“

Den Audiomix übernahm Chris Lord-Alge, das Mastering wiederum Ted Jensen.

New Jersey’s Cyborg Amok returns with “Pins & Needles,” an enthralling album galvanized by remarkable collaborations and intricate rhythms wrapped in an ethereal ambience. The father-son duo, Greg and Brydon Bullock, have teamed up with the talented Mark Gemini Thwaite—known for his guitar work with luminaries like Peter Murphy and Gary Numan—and the formidable Emilio Zef China, whose bass contributions have bolstered the sound of Psychic TV and Jonathan Davis. Together, this dynamic lineup creates an album that pulses with both urgency and allure, inviting listeners into its mesmerizing soundscape.

The twelve-track sojourn threads a hypnotic path through cosmic psychedelia, expansive space-rock textures, and incisive post-punk aggression. The record dives deep into the tangled web of contemporary anxieties—the prickling unease that permeates daily existence—but does so without succumbing to familiar tropes or repetition. Cyborg Amok understands the strength of juxtaposition: tranquil ballads bloom from riotous beats, soothing melodies drift atop jagged guitars, and every song feels like uncharted territory.

“While the songs are dark, because these are dark times and I write about the things I see and feel around me, they don’t follow a formula or all sound alike,” says Greg Bullock. “I am easily bored when I hear bands doing the same thing over and over on a record. I like to take the listener to different places, with something different around every corner. To keep things interesting.”

Indeed, Pins & Needles is a kaleidoscopic ride, exhilarating in its unpredictability.

Opening salvo, Cellophane Grind storms onto the dancefloor, wrapped in neon menace and PVC-clad swagger. Thundering drums and a prowling bassline hold court beneath sharp guitars and shadowy synth whispers. When Animals Have Guns pivots toward surreal aggression, channeling Pixies’ gleeful distortion through Killing Joke’s fierce intensity. Brydon’s drums anchor a track that coils with cryptic menace, while Greg’s vocals deliver an urgent, unsettling message.

Death Becomes The Cloud offers a stark contrast, drifting gracefully through sparse, poignant notes. It’s a restrained elegy, a quiet farewell shrouded in misty reflection. Elsewhere, The Order of Disorder shifts restlessly, a jittery, psychedelic hymn reminiscent of Nuggets-era garage rock colliding with industrial unease. The darkly hypnotic Swarm Front echoes Fad Gadget’s paranoia, guitars slicing through swampy dread like alarms in the gloom.

Catania’s March (Revolution) strides forward with militaristic precision, its gritty vocals and spectral harmonies evoking a future-tinged folk dirge, while Shadow Chaser twists and turns through shadowy disco halls, its bassline mischievous and drums conspiratorial. Diner Song seduces with slow-burning tension, a voyeuristic lullaby that observes and unsettles in equal measure.

The closing tracks maintain this vivid dynamism: Walk The Ember Field marches solemnly toward closure, its rhythmic pulse echoing ritualistic finality. Meanwhile, Why Not showcases Brydon taking vocal lead, propelled by David Baron’s deft synth production and the intricate interplay of Thwaite and China’s guitar-bass synergy, encapsulating the album’s collective creative energy.

Pins & Needles is Cyborg Amok at their most expansive and exhilarating, a potent blend of darkness and beauty that resonates deeply, leaving each listener with something uniquely personal. 2022 schlug DINA SUMMER, das gemeinsame Projekt von LOCAL SUICIDE und einer Hälfte von FRITTENBUDE, in der Electro Club-Szene ein, wie eine Splitterbombe! Ihr Electroclash-Mix aus 80er Italo Dance, Synth Pop und Minimal, gepaart mit dem kühlen weiblichen Sprechgesang im Stile einer Anne Clark hatte Bums, Rums und Groove der ganz besonderen feschen Sorte. Das Debüt „Rimini“ war überraschend erfolgreich, musste nachgepresst werden und zog gleich noch ein ganzes Remix-Album nach sich. Mit „Girls Gang“ legt das Trio jetzt drei Jahre später noch mal eine Schippe drauf und schraubt den Sound deutlich eine Spur schärfer, pochender, wie hypnotisch zwingender in Richtung Dark Floor, Techno und EBM, was man selbst inzwischen als Disco Goth bezeichnet. Die 11 neuen Songs bekommen nämlich eine massive Gothic-Injektion, was ihnen verdammt gut steht und auch der Gesang ist melodischer geworden. Dazu kommen neben den typisch fetten Kick- & Snare-Drums diesmal sogar echte Bässe und Gitarren, welche den an sich clubigen Sound ebenso etwas in Richtung Post Punk und New Wave wuchten. Das alles zusammen funktioniert wunderbar und so fügt sich angenehm der vokale Gastauftritt von CURSES! nahtlos in den Album-Fluss ein. Dabei werden fast beiläufig noch BAUHAUS, DEAD CAN DANCE, die Addams Family, Lydia Deetz oder „Elvira – Mistress Of The Dark“ zitiert und Live wird sogar „Headhunter“ von FRONT 242 gecovert. Ein absolutes Hammer-Album, welches bei mir seit Jahresanfang in Dauerschleife läuft und immer noch keine Ermüdungserscheinungen zeigt. Neben der normalen LP- und CD-Ausgabe gibt es bei der Deluxe-Vinyl-Edition gleich noch eine Remix-MLP mit 7 neuen Versionen von u.a. DJ HELL, THE POPULISTS, PHUNKADELICA und Damon Jee dazu, welche aber auch separat erhältlich ist. Wer ein Freund des Genres ist und am Ende des Jahres „Girls Gang“ nicht in seiner Bestenliste hat, dürfte das Album entweder am Strand von Rimini oder untot im Sarg verschlafen haben! (Marco Fiebag)

This was a short tour - comprising of only four dates in Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and London. They are joined by SWEET BILLY PILGRIM as opening act.The Wardrobe is ideally situated in the cultural quarter of Leeds, offering food and drinking, live music and entertainment. Its proximity to the Playhouse Theatre makes it a popular venue for both thespians and culture vultures. The live music room is small, intimate and self-contained. Tonight, we are here to see Exit North. I have an enviable position slightly elevated above the stage, having been escorted down in the lift and past the backstage area, by a very helpful female security (being disabled occasionally has its advantages).

Vorfreude schön und gut, Aber uns gleich anderthalb Jahre auf die Fortsetzung des ersten Teils warten zu lassen, grenzt fast schon an Grausamkeit. Zumal sich „Abyss Pt 2“ dadurch auch eigene Probleme schafft: Die ANY GIVEN DAY-Kollaboration „Hate“ etwa war bereits Anfang 2024 auf deren Studioalbum „Limitless“ vertreten, wodurch das erneute Aufeinandertreffen nun mit etwas gedämpftem Enthusiasmus unsererseits auskommen muss.

Ansonsten waren ANNISOKAY aber keineswegs untätig, wie die fünf weiteren Tracks der EP unterstreichen. Stilistisch wagt das Quartett knapp 25 Minuten lang keine ausgefallene Mixtur, aber eine souveräne Interpretation ihres zeitgenössischen Alternative Metal / Metalcore-Mix. Priorität hat diesmal vor allem die atmosphärische Ausgestaltung, welche dem Titel „Abyss“ entsprechend bedrückend wie düster ausgefallen ist. Der Opener „Get Your Shit Together“ zeigt mit dem Finger auf die Politik, während sich das Stück langsam aber stetig aufbäumt. Zwischen Resignation und Wut sind sich Sänger Christoph Wieczorek und Shouter-Kollege Rudi Schwarzer uneins, wie man auf Untätigkeit und fahrlässige Ziellosigkeit nun reagieren soll.

„Abyss Pt II“ ist keine blinde Fortführung des ersten Teils, sondern setzt vor allem atmosphärisch auf eine bedrückende Stimmung
Den eindringlichen Startschuss nutzt das folgende „Never Enough“ für sich, um den Härtegrad ein wenig anzuziehen und schließlich mit einer bandtypisch eingängigen Hook zu veredeln. Aufhorchen lassen darüber hinaus die elektronischen Tupfer, die Breakdown und Riffwand ausschmücken. Als wichtigen Stützpfeiler weben ANNISOKAY die Synthesizer in „Oblivion“ ein, wo sich phasenweise die Gitarre komplett zurückzieht, um den Fokus auf die begleitenden elektronischen Elemente zu richten – und selbstverständlich den größtmöglichen Kontrast bei deren Rückkehr vorzubereiten.

Dass „Abyss Pt II“ mit „Inner Sanctum“ sowie „Intro The Gray“ das Tempo auffallend oft drosselt, grenzt die Platte darüber hinaus vom direkten Vorgänger ab. Dadurch wiegt das neue Werk ein wenig schwerer, da wir uns den Zugang zur bedrückenden Grundstimmung zunächst erarbeiten müssen. Schön ist im Zuge dessen jedoch, dass wir nach der langen Zeit des Wartens als Hörer:innen tatsächlich auch gefordert werden. Denn Vorfreude allein ist zwar schön und gut, ohne Substanz am Ende allerdings meist nur von kurzer Dauer.
