Die Melodic Death Metal-Band DYING AWKWARD ANGEL hat mit „The Inner Paradox“ einen Video-Clip von ihrem neuen Album „The Missing Frame“ veröffentlicht. Das dritte Album der Band wurde von Bassist Davide Onida gemixt und gemastert und ist am 22. August 2025 erschienen.

Als erste Vorab-Single ist im Frühjahr „Music Kills“ erschienen. Der Song beschäftigt sich mit der ambivalenten Natur der Musik selbst und erforscht ihr Potenzial, sowohl zu erheben als auch zu verzehren.

Zuvor hat die Band die Stand-Alone-Single „The Magical World Of The Dead“ veröffentlicht. Es war der erste neue Release der Italiener aus Turin seit ihrem zweiten Album „Absence of Light“ (2018). Der Song verläuft als Dialog zwischen einem Mann und dem Tod und sei eine angespannte und nachdenkliche Konfrontation über die Bedingungen des Vergehens.

Diese Band hatte ich bisher auch nicht so unbedingt auf dem Schirm, dabei wurden sie schon 1981 im englischen Leeds gegründet und gelten in der Szene als kraftvollste und kompromissloseste Band ihres Genres und natürlich auch ihrer Generation. Und wenn ich diese Veröffentlichung so höre, muß ich gesanglich irgendwie an IGGY POP und musikalisch teils an SMASHING PUMPKINS, THE WHITE STRIPES, PIXIES, JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, PLACEBO denken, denn diese Fusion aus hämmernden Schlagzeug, krachenden, schneidenen Gitarrenriffs und CHRIS REEDS tragende, prägnante, mitreißende „Voice“ erinnert an die Coolness, Düsternheit sowie Distanziertheit besagter Groups. Hier kommt Post Punk zu Industrial Rock, die Tracks zeigen eine kompromisslose und gleichzeitig eine emotionale Intensität, die auch heutzutage ihres gleichen sucht und die nie irgendwelchen kommerziellen Tendenzen nachgelaufen ist.  Schon die EP „Driving Black“ von einigen Monaten war ein Erfolg, so das nun die Fulltime präsentiert wird. Vorbilder der Band waren übrigens LED ZEPPLIN, BOWIE, ZZ TOP, AEX HARVEY BAND, auch das hört man ab und zu raus. Die 10 Tracks ihrer wohl letzten Platte, so wurde das jeden falls im Vorfeld angekündigt, die nach geschlagenen 20 Jahren nun das Licht der Musikwelt erblickte, wird wohl alle Gitarren Nerds begeistern, selbst ihre ersten Alben vom Anfang der 80ziger wie „Talk about the Weather“ oder „Paint your Wagon“ gelten heut noch als große Underground Klassiker des Post Punk, Gitarrenrock und erstaunlicherweise sogar des Goth Rock. Das Schlusskapitel nun umspannt noch einmal die gesamte Karriere der Truppe und deckt einen breiten Rahmen an, von rauen, aber melodischen Tracks wie „Walking On Air“, „Killing Time“ oder „Worlds Collide“ bis hin zu astreinen Post Punk Stücken wie „Shooting Stars“ und „The Only Language“ ist vieles enthalten, was die Gruppe unvergeßlich macht. Die hohe Intensität ist es, die die Gruppe so fesselnd macht und die Themen der Songs drehen sich um das Chaos des modernen Lebens, Beziehungen, der Desillusionierung, des Überlebens und um flüchtiger Transzendenzen. Hier kann man wohl nur einfach sagen, vielen Dank für die vielen schöne Platten und macht es gut.

As the September 12th release of their new album IKONA looms ahead, Greek synth duo Paradox Obscur have unleashed one of their most unsettling transmissions: Vulgar Sequence. It is a track that throbs with venomous intent, pulling its heartbeat from the grooves of ‘90s electro-techno and its soul from the bowels of Hades. A low-slung bassline drives forward, while synths coil and strike with serpentine precision. Hovering above it all are the commanding, unmistakable vocals of Kriistal Ann: urgent, unflinching.

Vulgar Sequence is the third single from IKONA, an album that promises to be fearless and forward-thinking. Paradox Obscur have long thrived in the liminal space between genres, merging darkwave, EBM, and synth-driven experimentation into something unmistakably their own. Here, they sharpen that instinct, leaning into improvisation and fluid identity, rejecting any hint of rigidity.  Vulgar Sequence offers a warning and a challenge. It is a reminder that power can seduce, control can disguise itself as love, and freedom is something wrestled from within.

Beneath the immediacy of the rhythm lies a psychological undercurrent. Vulgar Sequence dissects the toxic architecture of addiction and domination, exploring the warped dynamics of manipulation and idol worship. The song spirals through cycles of torment and control, where intimacy and violence blur into a dangerous embrace. Within its layers, ecstasy and agony collapse into one another, a distorted mirror of relationships where freedom is trapped in a gilded cage.

As the duo themselves explain: “We need to cultivate a healthy ego and remain aware. Knowledge builds an impenetrable personality, one that is difficult to manipulate. Freedom is the supreme right, but it must be won from within.”

The accompanying video, directed by Italian filmmaker Simone Pellegrini, translates that psychological turbulence into an unsettling vision. Shot in a single claustrophobic room (a stark metaphor for the prison of the mind) the film plays with fractured imagery, broken screens, and jagged edits that heighten a sense of disorientation. At its center, performer and choreographer Serra Kösebay embodies the long-suffering subject through raw physical improvisation. Every contortion, every violent shake of her body, feels like an attempt to break free, only to be pulled back into the spiral. It is a performance that cuts through with both terror and resolve, making the metaphor painfully flesh-bound.

Paradox Obscur is celebrated for their authentic, analogue-driven sound. Eschewing computers and digital plugins, they create all of their music in real time using hardware synthesizers and drum machines, delivering a raw and immersive listening experience. While rooted in the spirit of ’80s-’90s underground music, their unique blend of haunting melodies, driving rhythms, and cinematic atmosphere appeals to a wide range of listeners, regardless of genre preference.

“A floor can turn into a type of door to pass through, and once on the other side, it’s no longer a floor, but a ceiling of another room. Between two spaces suspended, somehow both above and below, knowing you do not belong in this passageway. Not like this. The aching knee of memory twinges at a red light, idly, recounting that you’re here but not to forget there. The different ways things can go are always just on the other side of how it went.”
Eric Angelo Bessel, American-German visual artist and musician, continues his work of merging atmosphere with vision. Based in Portland, he conjures pieces that feel like installations, collapsing between cinema and séance. His latest offering, Scavengers, is the first single from his upcoming album Mirror at Night, releasing October 31 via Lore City Music.

“Scavengers is an homage to mind coalescence and superorganisms trying their hands at constructing lo-fi string ensembles echoing through the night, and in reverse, whenever it suits them,” Bessel explains. The music aligns with this idea: sounds moving as if guided by a collective instinct, string textures bending in and out of earshot, tones echoing with ghostlike persistence. It carries the air of ritual, performed by unseen participants in some deserted hall.

The ambient effect is eerie, dreamlike, unsettling. It feels like the mirage of a carnival that disappears the moment you arrive, or a ghost vanishing just as you approach its grave. The music is disjointed, bizarre, difficult to experience without visions forcing themselves into the mind. Cinematic, strange, compelling. Scavengers carries the experimental instincts of Delia Derbyshire and Daphne Oram, with hints of Vic Mizzy’s eccentric charm and Bruce Haack’s playful circuitry. It draws on the BBC Radiophonic tradition, summoning phantoms of broadcast-era ambience, while a wandering Mellotron line sketches visions that bloom in the imagination.

With Scavengers, the portal opens. The piece does not close so much as dissolve, offering entry into a cinema of the unreal. By October’s end, Mirror at Night will reveal itself as a collection of apparitions—twelve mirrors in which memory and imagination collapse into one surface.

Bessel’s work has always been tied to image. He studied photography at Syracuse University (2000–2004), then the School of Visual Arts’ Photography, Video and Related Media Graduate Program (2005–2006). His photography has appeared in Collector’s Guide to New Art Photography Vol. 2 from Humble Arts Foundation in 2010, and his first monograph, Archive {2005–2010}, was released by Conveyor in 2011. These projects share his obsession with framing transient atmospheres and binding them to physical form.

His music career began with Visitation in 2023, his debut on Lore City Music. With Mirror at Night, the label’s fifth release and Bessel’s second solo record, he expands that vision further. Lo-fi ensembles, spectral strings, and vintage synthesizers create a language of distortion and reverie. Twelve instrumental works form its body; twelve glimpses into what he calls an “in-between realm.” Past, present, and future dissolve into a still obsidian surface, where outlines blur and reassemble. The album revisits the nostalgic timbre of Mellotrons and the multi-voiced layers of Alesis synths, devices that give the music both a retro pulse and a spectral glow.

These are vignettes rather than songs, fragments that provoke imagery: artificial clouds dispersing, waters glowing with phantom light, carnival rides turning in silence before vanishing.

„Während des Songwritings kam immer wieder ein Thema auf:  Tod und die Wiedergeburt durch Feuer. Diese Idee, alte und tote Teile selbst zu töten, um etwas Neues und vielleicht sogar eine ehrlichere Version von uns zu schaffen. Jedes Mal, wenn wir ein Album schreiben, erwarten wir, dass es unangenehm werden und wir einen verletzlichen Teil von uns offenbaren werden. Ein weiteres Thema, das uns beim Schreiben immer wieder beschäftigt, ist der Umgang mit Verlust. Jeder von uns hat während dieses Prozesses verschiedene Phasen des Verlusts und der Trauer durchlebt, und ich glaube, das spiegelt sich in diesem Album wieder. Wir wollen uns immer wieder neu herausfordern und auf dem Fundament aufbauen, das wir in den letzten Jahren als Band geschaffen haben. Ich denke, dass uns das mit Phantom :: Phoenix gelungen ist. Es ist eine Darstellung dieses Zyklus, und ich hoffe, dass es für diejenigen, die es hören, als Katalysator für Wachstum dienen kann.“

Die Progressive Retro Rock-Band THE VINTAGE CARAVAN hat mit „Portals“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das sechste Album der Isländer und wurde gemeinsam mit „Axel ‘Flexi’ Árnason“ bei Arda Recorders in Porto aufgenommen.

„Der Titel des Albums ist eine Anspielung auf die Stadt Porto, und zwischen den Songs gibt es eine Reihe von Zwischenspielen, die wir „Portals“ nennen, die die Stimmung bestimmen und zum nächsten Track führen“, erklärt die Band.

„Dieses Album ist in jeder Hinsicht ein großer Schritt für AQUILLA. Rückblickend war die Entstehung unseres Debüts „Mankind’s Odyssey“ nicht durchdacht. Wir hatten keine klare Vorstellung vom Sound des Albums und keine Erfahrung mit so langen und anspruchsvollen Aufnahmesessions. Am Ende haben wir ein gut klingendes Album produziert, aber wir hatten nicht das Gefühl, dass wir in die richtige Richtung unterwegs sind. Als wir begannen, die  Songs für „Sentinels Of New Dawn“ zu komponieren, hat sich plötzlich viel verändert. Die neuen Tracks sollten sich etwas mehr an den Klassikern der alten Schule orientieren und gleichzeitig kraftvoll und episch sein.“

Die Synth Rock-Band ZETRA stellt einen weiteren Track ihrer aktuellen EP „Believe“ vor und hat ein Video zur KITTIE-Coverversion „Charlotte“ geteilt: 

„Believe“ erschien am 22. August 2025 via Nuclear Blast und enthält fünf Tracks, darunter die Single „The Spider„, die auf allen gängigen Streaming-Plattformen verfügbar ist. AUTHOR & PUNISHER sind im Herbst 2025 nicht nur auf Tour, sie bringen auch ein neues Album mit: „Nocturnal Birding“ erscheint am 3. Oktober 2025. Für das Album gibt es eine ungewöhnliche Inspirationsquelle, Tristan Shone berichtet:

„Schon vor dem Songwriting wusste ich, dass Vogelgesang die Basis der Songs sein würde. Das erste Gitarrenriff ist im Prinzip der Gesang einer Lerche. Wenn man sich „Rook“ anhört, ist diese Melodie der Gesang der Krähe. Ich habe alle Tracks um die Rhythmen und Melodien von Vögeln herum geschrieben, die ich recherchiert oder in der freien Natur gehört habe.“

Die Brutal Surf Death Metal-Band STILLBIRTH stellt mit einem Video zu „Sacrificial Slaughter“ einen weiteren Song vom kommenden Album „Survival Protocol“ vor:

 

„Survival Protocol“ist das neunte Album der Deutschen, das Konzeptalbum erzählt die Geschichte eines unbekannten Helden, der eine nukleare Apokalypse überlebt. Die Erzählung begann bereits auf dem Album „Annihilation of Mankind“ und knüpft an „Homo Deus“ an: Der wahre Schöpfer steigt vom Himmel herab, und der epische Kampf um die Vorherrschaft auf dem Planeten beginnt. Die Menschheit ist fast ausgelöscht, nur eine Handvoll Überlebender kann ins All fliehen. Nach einer langen Reise entdecken sie einen bewohnbaren Planeten und beginnen, ihn zu kolonisieren. Die Ereignisse dieser Reise werden in den Tracks von „Survival Protocol“ erzählt.

„Survival Protocol“, das von Gitarrist und Sänger Lukas Swiaczny bei Demigod Recordings gemixt und gemastert wurde, wird am 31. Oktober 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music erscheinen. Seit Juli gibt es auch zu  „Baptized In Blood“ einen Video-Clip.

„Der Song beschreibt einen epischen Kampf mit titanischen, gottähnlichen Kreaturen, die die neue Welt bewohnen. Nachdem sie den Spitzenprädator überlebt haben, stehen die Menschen nun einem weiteren scheinbar unbesiegbaren Feind gegenüber. Ihre primitiven Waffen erweisen sich als nutzlos, aber angetrieben von vergangenen Siegen geben sie nicht auf. Es ist David gegen Goliath auf einem fremden Planeten“, erklärt die Band.

Mit ihrem zweiten Studioalbum melden sich MAAHES zurück. „Nechacha“ erscheint am 19. September 2025 via Massacre Records auf CD, Vinyl sowie digital und soll musikalisch zugleich härter und orchestraler ausfallen. „Nechacha“ bezeichnet das „Flagellum“, ein altägyptisches Symbold der Herrschaft, das Pharaonen und Göttern vorbehalten war.

Produziert wurde die Platte von Thomas Winnerl und Heiko Müller. Den Mix übernahmen Müller und V. Santura. Für das Artwork schließlich zeichnet Marcus Röll (Autumn Arts) verantwortlich. Zuvor erschien das Debütalbum „Reincarnation“ im Jahr 2020.

Nicht etwa in Stockholm, sondern in Göteborg erlebt der schwedische Death Metal seinen zweiten Frühling, mutmaßten wir noch im Zuge von „Deities Of Deathlike Sleep“ (2023). Den Oldschool-Ansatz ihres Zweitwerks setzen GRAND CADAVER nicht minder selbstbewusst fort, um uns eines zu verstehen zu geben: Los werden wird die während der Pandemie geborene Formation nicht so schnell.

Als EP ist „The Rot Beneath“ natürlich mehr Zwischenhappen denn vollwertige Mahlzeit. Die vier Songs jedoch lassen keinerlei Müdigkeit erkennen, bestechen durch effizientes Songwriting und Respekt vor Tradition. Nicht von ungefähr beginnt „Blood-Red Banner“ ruppig mit sägenden Gitarren und HM-2-Huldigung. Mikael Stannes (DARK TRANQUILLITY, THE HALO EFFECT, CEMETERY SKYLINE) starke Vocals sind dank klarer Diktion gewohnt gut verständlich und dabei noch einen Tick roher als gewohnt. Damit überspielt der Frontmann auch geschickt die sonst eher geringe Bandbreite seiner Darbietung.

GRAND CADAVER glänzen auf „The Rot Beneath“ mit effizientem Songwriting
Ein Störfaktor ist das für uns aus genannten Gründen nicht, zumal seine Kollegen gerade an den Gitarren für genug Widerhaken sorgen. Kleine melodische Tupfer prägen das Riffing in „The Endless Dead“, das ohnehin mit hervorragendem Groove besticht. Das anfangs bedrohlich nach vorn kriechende „Darkened Apathy“ schließlich nimmt bald an Fahrt auf, wohingegen der fantastische Titeltrack es durch dezente melodische Harmonien schafft, dem rohen Death Metal der Band einen Hauch Eleganz zu schenken.

Das mag zunächst untypisch klingen für einen eigentlich reinrassigen Vertreter des Genres. Beibehalten dürfen GRAND CADAVER diese Kniffe aber gerne, um die göteborgschen Wurzeln dieser Reinkarnation eines klassischen Genres den eigenen Stempel aufzudrücken.

Die Metalcore-Band FATES MESSENGER hat mit „Hellstorm“ den Opener ihrer neuen EP „Eternal War“ als Lyric-Video veröffentlicht.

Davor hat die Band nach einem Video-Clip zum Titeltrack – mit Tim Williams (VISION OF DISORDER) – mit dem Video-Clip zu „Doomloop“ eine weitere Single der EP veröffentlicht.

„Der Song thematisiert, wie Regierungen und Unternehmen globale Konflikte weiter anheizen, nicht um sie zu lösen, sondern um aus dem Leid Profit zu schlagen. Der Track ist sowohl persönlich als auch politisch und fängt die erschöpfte Wut darüber ein, dass sich die Geschichte immer wiederholt, wie die schrecklichen Ereignisse, die wir derzeit weltweit erleben“, sagt die Band.

„Eternal War“ ist nach „They Walk Among Us“ (2024) die zweite EP der Engländer und wurde von Stu McKay gemixt und von Scott Atkinson gemastert. Release-Termin war der 22. August 2025 via Greyline Records, einem Label, das erst jüngst von Sänger Tony Maddocks gegründet wurde.

Die Progressive Black Metal-Band DYSYLUMN hat mit „Abstraction“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Es ist das vierte Album des französischen Duos aus Lyon, welches aus Sänger, Gitarrist und Bassist Sébastien Besson (BACCHUS, OMINOUS SHRINE, ABYSSAL VACUUM) sowie Drummer Camille Olivier Faure-Brac (BACCHUS) besteht.

Die Heavy / Thrash Metal-Band EVOCATUS hat einen Labeldeal bei Wormholedeath unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Australier ihr neues Album „Inevitable Death“ veröffentlichen. Es ist nach „Mortem in Deos“ (2017) und „Path to Tartarus“ (2020) das dritte Album der 2012 gegründeten Band. Mit „Serpent of Chaos“ gibt es nun einen weiteren Video-Clip.

Mit „To Live by the Sword“ – mit Gast-Sängerin Maude Théberge (SANGUINE GLACIALIS) – hat die Band zuvor einen anderen Video-Clip vom Album veröffentlicht. Der Song taucht ein in die Psyche eines Kriegerkönigs – hin- und hergerissen zwischen Eroberung und Schuld, der im Namen des Imperiums seine Familie verlässt und schließlich auf dem Schlachtfeld nach Absolution sucht.

„Inevitable Death“ wurde von Ryan Huthnance (THE SEER) in den Emissary Studios produziert und wird am 29. August 2025 erscheinen. Das Cover-Artwork stammt erneut von Pierre-Alain Durand (u.a. für WITHERING SOUL tätig). Vorab gibt es zu „In Graves Unknown“ ein Lyric-Video.

Mit „The Devil’s Masquerade“ wird am 12. September 2025 via Massacre Records das neue Album der Heavy Metal-Band HELSTAR erscheinen. Es ist das elfte Album der Band rund um Sänger James Rivera (SEVEN WITCHES) und Gitarrist Larry Barragan, welcher das Album in den Hombre Malo Studios aufgenommen und gemixt hat. Für das Mastering zeichnete Robert Colwell verantwortlich.

Textlich taucht das Album in Geschichten über Vampirismus, dämonische Besessenheit und den Untergang der Menschheit ein – inspiriert von Kult-Horrorfilmen und -serien wie „Annabelle“, „Midnight Mass“, „The Exorcist: Pope“ und klassischen „Twilight Zone“-Episoden. Die Experimental Noise Rock / Mathcore-Band IRK hat einen Labeldeal bei Nefarious Industries unterschrieben. Im Zuge dessen werden die Engländer aus Leeds am 26. September 2025 ihr neues Album „The Seeing House“ veröffentlichen. Es ist das zweite Album nach „Recipes From The Bible“ (2018) und wurde von Andrew Edwards und Drummer Matthew Deamer im Glide Studio in Leeds aufgenommen und gemixt und von Brad Boatright gemastert. Temptation is the wound that glitters, the flame that beckons even as it burns. Forbidden desire binds with cords unseen, clasping two souls in a clasp more absolute than iron. In its grasp, the mind reels, the body betrays itself, and the spirit falters, caught between hunger and ruin. Each glance becomes a summons, each touch a collapse into depths where reason dissolves. It is a drowning both feared and cherished, a fever where one drinks thirst itself. What cannot be held becomes the one thing needed…and the cycle of yearning becomes its own cruel sanctuary.

Forbidden is the title of the new single, video, and EP from Montreal darkwave outfit SEXSOMNIA. The EP, out today, arrives with a sharp visual counterpart: a video that finds the trio joined by special guest Marita Volodina of Poland’s Stridulum and her bewitching vocals.

SEXSOMNIA, founded in 2021 by Faith, Pat Gaudette, and Michael K. Rien, have built a catalogue of EPs, singles, and 2024’s full-length Transcendent. Their collaborations stretch wide, and here Volodina proves essential.

“I first noticed Marita on her project Stridulum, who were signed to Manic Depression at the same time as SEXSOMNIA,” Faith recalls. “I decided to contact her, and she loved the idea of a collaboration and accepted. Working with her, as much on the music as on the video, was pure symbiosis. Her voice and emotion blends perfectly on that song.”

The track’s core is feverish: dual basslines grinding beneath synthetic atmospheres, driven percussion, and a voice that slips between invocation and surrender. It is a song built on paradoxes, on hunger disguised as restraint, on the tremor of desire where control erodes. That sense of polarity: pleasure cut with danger, intimacy tied to exile, haunts the lyrics. They describe eyes that pierce, chains invisible but unbreakable, the quicksand pull of a kiss that cannot be held. Desire here is destructive and devotional, consuming yet seductive.

“…Forbidden was inspired by a strange déjà vu I had in the US about two years ago,” explains frontman Philip Faith. “The song explores polarities, temptation, lust and the eternal paradox of the spirit and the flesh. A dark descent in the lower realms of desire. For the video, it was quite challenging, since we filmed footage between Canada and Poland, we were very lucky to have an amazing team in Poland. Adam had a perfect understanding of the lighting set-ups I requested, it was a pleasure working with such a talented videographer. In this video we wanted a live band feel blended with various shots of Marita, we also used projections while filming.”

The accompanying video, directed and edited by Faith, heightens these tensions. Its montage of performance and vision – Volodina luminous, the band relentless – feels like a ritual spliced with cinema, a collage that glows, writhes, and erupts under projection.

Forbidden arrives after the July release of the stripped-back Shadow Mix. “The earlier Shadow Mix release of Forbidden is a deconstructed version of the original track, made for dancefloors,” Faith explains. “On the other hand, this ‘official’ EP version is more dark-rock oriented, with a hard beat and a spy/surf theme played on a Bass VI, and a focus on the driving bass, analogue keys and lush strings: more in line with acts like She Past Away, Bragolin, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Syd Barrett. The male vocals are more present in this version, and there is a pre-chorus that is absent in the Shadow Mix.”

The Forbidden EP also hosts Isabelle Young on Vapor and Jacinthe Benoit on Nigrum Viduam, the latter remixed by UK industrial pioneers ATTRITION, with Martin Bowes overseeing mastering.

“This whole world is wild at heart and weird on top.”
With a wink to David Lynch’s feverish fugitive romance, Mareux delivers his own neo-noir pulp love song with “Wild At Heart.” In Lynch’s film, Nicholas Cage’s Sailor clings to his creed — “This snakeskin jacket is a symbol of my individuality and freedom.” — while Laura Dern’s Lula whispers her fragile revelation, “This whole world is wild at heart and weird on top.” And it was Lynch, of course, who went on to direct the smoldering video for Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game,” forever entwining Isaak’s sultry ballad with Wild at Heart’s fever-dream legacy. In Mareux’s hands, the touchstones of untamed romance and highway heat flicker again, refracted through chrome synths and an L.A. summer haze.

And Mareux’s “Wild At Heart” hits like a blissed-out drive down Sunset: brisk, confessional, and built for motion. His detached baritone glides over aerodynamic synths and a taut new-wave pulse, a sleek counterpoint to the song’s yearning core.

The production doubles down on Mareux’s increasingly filmic approach. He’s said, “I like when music sounds like found footage,” a principle that lends the single its grainy romance — intimate, immediate, and a touch dangerous. Written and recorded in his Los Angeles bedroom, the Nonstop Romance era folds in influences he absorbed while watching films on mute on an old CRT: Tarkovsky and Jodorowsky balanced against the glossy grit of Hype Williams.

Directed by Natalia McGowan and Anastasiya Bobrova, the song’s video leans into a Lynchian register while pushing it through a distinctly Californian filter. If Lynch’s Sailor and Lula blazed their way across America in a fever-dream of sex, violence, and Oz hallucinations, Mareux and his partner in crime, Natalia, take the wheel here. “Wild At Heart” unfolds as a feverish joy ride turned decadent daydream, where noir romance collides with reckless abandon. The video opens with Mareux behind the wheel of a convertible, Natalia exuding danger and allure as she dances behind the windshield and sprawls across the passenger seat. It’s their Sailor-and-Lula moment — reckless lovers sealed inside their own orbit, with the road unspooling before them like fate itself.

From there, the ride bleeds into scenes of excess: dice games with tattooed figures in cowboy hats, money set aflame over whiskey glasses, and a house party brimming with sweat, lust, and abandon. Fruit platters are trampled underfoot, bodies tangle in pools and across tables, and the camera lingers on the intoxicated thrill of living on impulse. The imagery blurs Lynchian seduction with sun-baked Californian grit, balancing desire and destruction in equal measure. By its close, kisses under dripping water and ecstatic dance sequences crystallize the song’s title — an ode to lovers who live fast, burn bright, and remain untamed.

“Wild At Heart” appears on Mareux’s sophomore LP, Nonstop Romance — out now via Revolution / Warner Records — is dance-pop laced with a confessional darkwave edgr. The album’s palette broadens his cold-kissed synthwork toward bright, club-ready tempos without shedding the melancholic afterglow.

Nachdem diverse digitale Singles und die „Weimarer Trilogie“ als Dreifach-Vinyl-Single-Pack für das kommende neue Werk von TYSKE LUDDER den Boden bereitet hatten, liegt jenes jetzt mit „Weltenbühne“ endlich vor. Das Album setzt den Weg des Vorab-Materials konsequent fort und so stammen alle Texte von Kurt Tucholsky, dem berühmten deutschen Autor, Journalisten und Satiriker, der in der Zeit der Weimarer Republik ein stetiger Mahner vor dem aufkeimenden Faschismus war. Seine Artikel in der WELTBÜHNE waren witzig und treffend, konnten jedoch die Machtergreifung der Nazis 1933 nicht verhindern, weshalb er nach Schweden ins Exil ging und dort 1935 völlig desillusioniert Selbstmord begann. Heutzutage scheinen seine Texte wieder relevant und allein nur am Beispiel von „Europa“ ist es wirklich verblüffend, wie brandaktuell dieser ist, obwohl er ja eigentlich aus dem Jahre 1932 stammt! Es wäre ebenso interessant, welche Position der Pazifist Kurt Tucholsky beim aktuellen Ukraine-Thema beziehen würde. TYSKE LUDDER kleiden seine Zeilen jetzt auf „Weltenbühne“ in ein brachial-derbes Electro-Gewand der alten Schule. Die Friesen, welche ja schon immer für ihre linke politische Haltung bekannt sind, machen dabei keine Gefangenen und beziehen auch hier wieder klare Stellung. Die insgesamt 10 Tracks hämmern gnadenlos und wuchtig im meist Mid-Tempo-Dark Electro-Modus vorwärts, wobei allerdings 4 davon schon durch die Vorabsingles bekannt sein dürften. Leider musste bei der Platten-Ausgabe auf den Titel „Der Graben“ verzichtet werden, welcher dafür aber zumindest bei der „Weimarer Trilogie“ auf Vinyl verfügbar ist. Wie bei Emmo.biz üblich, gibt es diesmal auch wieder diverse Sonder-Ausgaben des Albums. Zum einen wäre das die auf 77 Exemplare limitierte Doppel-CD im A5-Digipack + T-Shirt in einer Blechbox, welche auf der Bonus-Disc alle digitalen Vorab-Singles vereint. Jene CD liegt auch der ebenfalls auf nur 77 Stück begrenzten Vinyl-Box bei, die zusätzlich noch eine Slipmat, ein T-Shirt, Comic etc. enthält. Diese üppigen Fan-Artikel haben natürlich ihren Preis und wem das zu teuer ist, kann ja auf Standard-Ausgaben von „Weltenbühne“ im Vinyl- oder CD-Format zurück greifen, die direkt beim Label zu einem wirklich humanen Kurs zu haben sind! Mit „Weltenbühne“ haben TYSKE LUDDER dem inzwischen etwas in Vergessenheit geratenen Kurt Tucholsky ein musikalisches Denkmal gesetzt und das gerade in Zeiten, wo die Zukunft seines Museums in Rheinsberg auf Grund der allgemeinen Kulturkürzungen ungewiss ist!
