Falter/Wave’s new record commands attention by moving like memory: jagged, blurred, insistent. Every sound you hear is theirs alone, save for a final brush of ambient synth from Lindy Wise, a passing light at the horizon line. That brief collaboration feels like a spark after the storm, a reminder that even the darkest weather eventually clears.

The title itself reads like a riddle about recovery. Absence Without Proof suggests the silence that follows a collision, the body still tensed for impact. Proof Without Absence suggests the scar that outlasts the wound. Together, they hold a paradox anyone who’s walked through trauma knows too well: the vacancy you can’t explain, and the evidence you can’t erase.

The music lives inside that paradox. You Only Miss Me (When You’re Bored) aches in stereo, a song that feels scribbled in the margins of a police report: evidence, confession, and confession denied. Its melody hangs like cigarette smoke, curling into spaces you thought were sealed. Other tracks lean into shoegaze worship, carrying the haze and volume of late ’80s and early ’90s underground Britain. Falter/Wave play with distortion like it’s a second language, finding tenderness buried in static and volume.

This is post-punk without pretense, alive with atmosphere. It feels like walking home at three a.m., replaying every slight and mistake, only to laugh in the night air because somehow you’re still here. There’s beauty in the distortion, a crooked grace in the volume, and a tenderness that cuts through the noise.

The accompanying video is a fever montage: doll heads, fast cuts of performance, surreal flashes that feel both playful and menacing. Falter/Wave directed it themselves, with photography support from Nils Larson, and it suits the music: half trip, half testimony, abruptly over. Like the song, it’s messy in the right places, electric in its imperfections.

Dreams and memory are not separate from reality, but the very texture of it. What we call waking life is another dream, thicker perhaps, more insistent. To plead for a sign is to forget that the sign is already present: in the ache itself, in the longing. Distance, too, is not an enemy but a reminder: the space between reveals the shape of our yearning. Hope and resignation are not opposites; they are two sides of the same gesture, the inhalation and exhalation of consciousness, teaching us that absence and presence are woven from the same mysterious thread.

Libras, from Philadelphia’s Forest Circles, glides into view with the quiet conviction of a secret being shared, a song that leans toward the eternal and then retracts into the personal. Angel Ocana’s voice seems to hover above itself, breath meeting breath. His delivery is delicate without dissolving, airbrushed with the ache of memory, and yet anchored by the calm recognition that longing is its own form of belonging. Each phrase holds weight, even as it drifts, forming a fragile architecture of absence and desire.

The instrumentation moves like tides you never quite see arriving: synthesizers swelling and retreating, tones unfolding with the patience of clouds. There’s no rush, no insistence on climax. Instead, there is a sense of orbit, of elements circling each other with magnetic inevitability. The music appears to understand that loss is full of echoes, that every departure is its own chorus.

Paired with the single, the DIY video for Libras extends this atmosphere into an astral ritual. Smoke rises and disperses as though tracing invisible shapes, water ripples hint at hidden forces, and sudden cosmic flashes disrupt the calm. These are not random visuals but symbols that propose a truth larger than the everyday: that love, separation, and memory are not private events but cosmic ones. The body aches, the mind remembers, the universe replies.

Forest Circles conjure intimacy through suggestion, through restraint, through the quiet confidence that fragility is a strength. Los Angeles duo HALLOWS return with Catalyst. Since forming in 2019, Vanee Dusoruth and Dom Rolando have been sketching blueprints for a particular kind of nocturnal elegance; music where pulse and ache intertwine, where the past’s electronic echoes converse with the present’s restless drive. Their latest single, out now via their new home at Artoffact Records, distills those ideas into their sharpest and most unflinching form.

Catalyst opens with a bassline that immediately asserts its grip: steady yet tense, as if marching toward revelation. Synth figures dart across the mix, bright enough to catch the ear but never ornamental, each note carrying a sense of necessity. When the vocals arrive, they sound both exposed and determined. Dusoruth’s delivery conveys a yearning that leans forward rather than retreating, pulling the listener into the storm of desire, regret, and fragile hope at the heart of the song.

HALLOWS create an intriguing atmosphere through motion: Catalyst is built for the club as much as the headphones, demanding physical response while leaving emotional residue. The balance between melody and muscle is exacting: disco’s glimmer rubbing shoulders with punk’s insistence, all refracted through their ongoing dialogue with the darker reaches of synth music’s lineage.

The lyrical terrain of Catalyst feels drawn from the intimate diary entries of a difficult night: voices weighted with desire, a struggle against separation, the tug between what is present and what is already gone. The words never spell everything out, yet they are heavy with suggestion…moments of entrapment, sudden pleas for connection, the wish to rewind and find another beginning. It is as much about memory as it is about immediacy, and that tension gives the track its restless electricity.

The song is about trying to pull someone you love out of their own darkness, reminding them you’re there, even when everything feels out of control,” says Dom Rolando. “Vanee and I had so much fun building the vocal melodies, drawing inspiration from 80s disco and funk, while pushing for something modern and fresh. Matia Simovich’s production gave the track the energy and shape we envisioned. We are really proud of where it landed.”

The video for “Catalyst” plays out beneath the moon’s crescent glow, its lo-fi camcorder haze capturing the duo as they ascend concrete stairs and pass through alleyways and car-lined streets under phosphorescent light. Grain and blur turn each moment into a half-remembered dream, where intimacy and unease coexist. Dusoruth and Rolando wander like figures suspended between memory and immediacy, their movements echoing the track’s pulse—an after-hours hymn carried by shadows, silence, and the quiet electricity of night.

Monsters in a lo fi trance

It is a strange and luminous marriage, this union of self-destruction and science-fiction surrealism. One reaches inward, clawing at the body and spirit with a hunger for erasure; the other projects outward, building cities of chrome and vapor where reality dissolves into dream. Yet they share a single pulse: the yearning to escape the ordinary, to break beyond the prison of the flesh and the tyranny of time. In destruction there is invention, in ruin a vision of another order. The future gleams brightest when it flickers on the edge of obliteration, where sorrow mutates into strange, impossible beauty.

BLXCKFLAMINGO announces the release of Monsters, a hymn to the uncanny; a song that bends desire and dread into one indistinguishable figure, both luminous and diseased. Monsters stalks the listener, its atmosphere charged with dread and desire. The song conjures a nocturnal communion, pulling together strands of occult lore, coldwave minimalism, and post-punk anguish. BLXCKFLAMINGO are less interested in playing to form than in carving open a new space where the grotesque and the romantic share the same breath.

Kevin Garetz’s voice carries through the track like a sermon delivered at the edge of a grave, drenched in synth and guitar tones that seem carved from cold stone. The basslines, Roberto Miranda’s work, move with relentless intent: an engine churning forward, never relenting, never loosening their grip. Over it all, synths shimmer like frost on ruined windows, giving the sense of a city seen from a distance, as if through fog or fever.

The lyrics read as a diary of delirium. Love is conjured as a spectral presence, drink as ritual, bodies transformed into vampiric husks moving through a “lo-fi trance.” The city itself becomes a character: a theatre of ruin, filled with dangerous pleasures, where destruction feels inseparable from invention. Within this landscape, witchcraft and romance collapse into the same act of survival, the occult serving as language for what ordinary speech cannot bear. Self-destruction becomes a mode of transcendence, tinged with science-fiction unreality.

The accompanying video, directed by BLXCKFLAMINGO with Humanoire Studio, deepens this sense of delirium. Spliced with imagery from old films including Village of the Damned and Pandora’s Box, the lo-fi cut unfurls like an experimental séance. Clips of skulls, bats, and half-remembered horror romances bleed into glitchy performance shots of the band, the montage building an atmosphere that feels both archival and slightly campy, like celluloid fed through a fever dream projector.

Der Song entstand beim Songwriting für das Debütalbum „Nordic Gothic“ (2024), Gitarrist Markus Vanhala sagt dazu:

„Dies ist ein neuer, alter Song‘ aus den ‚Nordic Gothic‘-Studio-Sessions. Wir haben ihn in unseren Katakomben aufbewahrt, um ihn später zu veröffentlichen. Nun ist es an der Zeit, ihn herauszuholen. Im Video hat die dunkle Heldin an Kraft gewonnen und singt den Toten eine letzte Serenade. Wir wissen nicht, was zuvor passiert ist, und wir wollen es auch gar nicht wissen …“

JINJER stellen ihr aktuelles Album „Duél“ live vor: Anfang 2026 geht die Band auf Europatour, in Deutschland spielen die UkrainerInnen in Köln, Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, München, Leipzig, Berlin und Hamburg.

„2017 teilten wir zum ersten Mal mit UNPROCESSED die Bühne und sie haben uns sofort beeindruckt. Nicht nur wegen ihres musikalischen Talents und ihrer Entschlossenheit, ihren eigenen Weg zu gehen. Sondern auch, weil sie einfach tolle Typen sind. TEXTURES waren schon immer eine große Inspiration für uns. Ich erinnere mich noch gut an die frühen Tourneen vor 13 oder 14 Jahren, als wir in unserem kleinen Van unterwegs waren und das TEXTURES-Album „Silhouettes“ rauf und runter hörten. Sie haben mich und die Band musikalisch geprägt, und ihre Wiedervereinigung ist ein großer Gewinn für die gesamte Progressive-Metal-Szene. NAILED TO OBSCURITY haben Details zu ihrem fünften Studioalbum bekannt gegeben: „Generation Of The Void“ erscheint am 5. September 2025, im Anschluss ist die Death Doom Metal-Band auf Tour.

„Mit ‚Generation Of The Void‘ beginnt eine neue Ära für NAILED TO OBSCURITY – das Album ist härter, dunkler, dynamischer als alles, was wir bisher gemacht haben. Dieses Album ist das Ergebnis jahrelanger Entwicklung, und es ist unsere bisher atmosphärischste und intensivste Reise, auf der wir alle Grenzen, die wir uns je gesetzt haben, überschreiten.“ Die erste Single „Overcast‘ fängt die Trostlosigkeit einer Welt in Trümmern ein – eine treibende, post-apokalyptische Hymne mit einer eindringlichen Melodie und einem Ausbruch von roher, unerbittlicher Energie. Es ist ein Song über die Kraft, weiterzumachen, wenn alles Vertraute zu Staub geworden ist. Im Juni hatte die Band mit „Spirit Corrosion“ ein weiteres Video zu einem der neuen Songs veröffentlicht.

 

Als erste Single teilten die Norddeutschen den Track „Overcast“:

„Generation Of The Void“ entstand zwischen 2021 und 2024, Gitarren, Bass und Schlagzeug wurden in den Woodshed Studios in Landshut aufgenommen, der Gesang von Jacob Hansen in den Hansen Studios in Ribe.  Zusätzliche Elemente, wie Synthesizer  hat NAILED TO OBSCURITY_Gitarrist Jan-Ole Lamberti  im Hauptquartier der Band in Ostfriesland produziert. Die Produktion kommt von V. Santura, Jacob Hansen und Lamberti aufgeteilt. Artwork und  des Albums kommen von Giannis Nakos.

Natürlich werden THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE ZUGLY nie in einem Stadion spielen. Aber Stadionrock mögen die Norweger schon, das ist seit dem „Research And Destroy“-Album kein Geheimnis mehr, bdenn schon 2022 setzten THE GOOD THE BAD THE ZUGLY nicht mehr ausschließlich auf schmissige Punk-Skandi-Rock-Nummern. „November Boys“ geht noch einen Schritt weiter.

Punk geht anders!
Auf dem neuen Album „November Boys“ gibt es Songs, deren arg simple Mitsing-Hooks perfekt sind für die wohlbeleibten und gutsituierten Mittfünfziger, die einmal im Jahr ein großes Konzert besuchen und denen weder das Bier für einen Zehner, noch das Shirt für einen Fuffi wehtut. „Dig A Ditch“ zum Beispiel lässt mit seinem schon sehr süßlichen Refrainchorus und dem Dudelsackgetröte alten GBZ-Fans das Dosenbier aus der Hand und die Kippe aus dem Mundwinkel fallen. Punk geht anders und das wissen THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE ZUGLY auch. Deshalb haben sie mit „Norwegiens Abroad“ eine Nummer auf das Album gepackt, die so schmutzig, ungestüm und rumpelig ist, dass sie auch wunderbar auf das grandiose „Algorithm And Blues“ Album gepasst hätte.

Auch der Song „Hadeland“ weckt Hoffnungen auf früher, das 2015er Album hieß „Hadeland Hardcore“. „Hadeland“ ist zwar anno 2025 nicht mehr 100%  Hardcore, aber trotzdem eine schöne Reminiszenz an die Vergangenheit, nach zwei Minuten ist das aber auch schon wieder vorbei. In „Scandinavian CRISPR Brat“ versteckt sich ein Black Metal-Standardriff, das dem Titel nach besser in den Song „A Blazer In The Northern Sky“ gepasst hatte. Der ist irgendwie ein Zwischending zwischen den alten und neuen THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE ZUGLY, und damit stellvertretend für das ganze Album. „FOMO (Fear Of Missing Oslo“) klingt sehr nach den bluesigen, späten HELLACOPTERS. „All My Friends Are Dead“ heißt nur wie der 20 Jahre alte TURBONEGRO-Song, und könnte auch anders interpretiert werden: Auch TURBONEGRO hatten irgendwann die Schnauze voll vom Dreck fressen, wie auch die HELLACOPTERS und offensichtlich nun auch THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE ZUGLY.

Sänger Ivar Nikolaisen ist noch wütend
Catchy Refrains, große Melodien und Gitarrenriffs, die man ausschließlich mit ganz großer Geste und einer kompletten Armrotation aus dem Schultergelenk spielt: „November Boys“ wäre wohl recht uninteressant für all diejenigen, die dieser Band schon länger verfolgen. Wäre da nicht Sänger Ivar Nikolaisen, inzwischen auch bei KVELERTAK aktiv, und seine Abscheu gegenüber so vielem, was unser Leben und unsere Gesellschaft ausmacht. Egal, wie cheesy seine Gesangsmelodie ist, er strapaziert seine Stimmbänder immer bis aufs Blut und kann auch gegen das abgedroschenste AC/DC-Riff anbrüllen. Sein ungezügelter Frust hält zusammen, was eigentlich gar nicht zusammenpasst.

Wer Punk und Hardcore will, sollte sich an die alten Alben der Band halten. Wer sich manchmal auch ein bisschen alte fühlt und mal auch nur gemütlich mit dem Kopf nicken mag, statt sich in den Moshpit zu stürzen, wird wohl auch mit „November Boys“ glücklich. Auch wer generell auf wüsten Stilmix steht, kann ein Ohr riskieren.

 LEPROUS veröffentlichen am 24. Oktober 2025 das Livealbum “An Evening Of Atonement” via InsideOutMusic.

Für das Album schnitten die Norweger ihr Konzert am 7. Fenruar 2025 im Poppodium 013 im niederländischen Tilburg mit.

LEPROUS blicken zurück auf das Konzert und erinnern sich:

Im Januar 2025 begannen wir, die bislang größten Konzerte unserer Karriere zu geben und traten in ausverkauften Konzerten in europäischen Großstädten auf. Wir wollten ein Spektakel bieten und spielten jeden Abend in zwei Sets Songs aus unserem Backkatalog, kombiniert mit unserer bisher größten Produktion. Der Höhepunkt war „An Evening of Atonement“ – live aufgenommen im wunderbaren 013 Poppodium in Tilburg.
„Melodies of Atonement“ war eine Entwicklung für Leprous – wir haben die orchestralen Elemente, die die letzten Alben geprägt hatten, hinter uns gelassen und uns stattdessen darauf konzentriert, wie WIR als fünf Musiker zusammen klingen – fokussierter, eindringlicher und roher. Diese Songs auf der Bühne zu spielen, war aufregend – und eine spezielle Setlist zu erstellen, die sich durch die verschiedenen musikalischen Veränderungen unserer Karriere zog, war eine spannende Herausforderung.

Vom 3. bis 5. Oktober 2025 geht das HARSH VOCAL CAMP in Hannover in die zweite Runde, die Veranstaltung richtet sich an Sänger*innen aus dem Extreme Metal und alle Interessierten an verzerrtem Gesang.

„Die Resonanz auf das erste Harsh Vocal Camp war überwältigend. Das hat gezeigt, wie groß das Bedürfnis nach einer Plattform für Austausch und fundiertes Wissen im Bereich Harsh Vocals für Sängerinnen und Sänger ist“, sagt Britta Görtz, Initiatorin und Veranstalterin. „2025 setzen wir noch mehr auf Vielfalt: von Grundlagen und Stimmgesundheit über die physikalischen Hintergründe bis hin zu künstlerischer Ausdruckskraft.“

Das Programm 2025 umfasst u. a.:

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME  veröffentlichen am 12. September 2025 ihr neues Album „The Blue Nowhere“ via InsideOutMusic. Die Veröffentlichung ist gleichzeitig das erste Album der Band bei diesem Label. Nun gibt es auch einen Clip zum Titelsong:

Mit „Absent Therearfter“ präsentierten BTBAM im August eine zweite Single.

Als erste Single teilte die Progressive Rock Band ein Video zu „Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark“:

Bassist/Keyboarder Dan Briggs berichtet vom Songwriting:

„Es ist einer der seltenen Songs, die ich mit dem Bass und dieser grundlegenden funkigen Idee begonnen habe, wobei ich gleichzeitig eine ziemlich geradlinige Melodie im Hintergrund beibehalten habe, egal wie dicht der Rhythmus wurde. Ich liebe es, wenn Arrangements sich so anfühlen, als würde man eine Seite umblättern und in eine andere Dimension gelangen, aber ich fand es wichtig, dass dieser Song sich trotz seiner Dynamik nahtlos anfühlt. Selbst wenn es heavy wird, fand ich es im Kern lustig, dass man immer noch das Gefühl hat, dass es Prince‘ Band spielt, und dass es funky bleibt.“

„The Blue Nowhere“, produziert von Jamie King, ist auch das erste Album von BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, auf dem eine Streicher- und Bläsersektion zu hören ist.

Im Februar 2026 folgt dann eine Europatour zum neuen Album. Konzerte sind in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Bochum, Stuttgart und Leipzig geplant. In der Schweiz gibt es Shows in Aarau sowie Genf (Termine s. unten).

PRIMAL FEAR haben mit Thalìa Bellezecca eine neue Gitarristin, André Hilgers ist neuer Schlagzeuger. Gemeinsam hat man ein neues Album aufgenommen:  „Domination“, das 15. PRIMAL FEAR-Album, wird am 5. September 2025 veröffentlicht, zeitgleich bricht die Band zu einer Europatournee auf, die in Hamburg beginnt und sich über acht Länder erstreckt.

AUßERWELT stellt ihr Debütalbum „Breath“ mit einer weiteren Single vor und haben „Without Solace“ als Stream veröffentlicht. Den track beschreibt die Band so:

Ein kompakter Song mit einer einprägsamen Melodie. Nachdem sich der Sturm aus Up-Tempo-Blasts, Tremolo-Gitarren und D-Beat/Hardcore gelegt hat, wird „Whiteout Solace“ weniger melodisch, dafür aber gleichzeitig heavier und dissonanter. Der Song behandelt ein Thema, das in letzter Zeit zunehmend Beachtung findet: das menschliche Bedürfnis nach weniger mentalem Input, einem ausgewogeneren Umgang mit sozialen Medien und den eigenen emotionalen Ressourcen.

Die erste Single „Old Dreams Of The West“, veröffentlicht im August, steht stellvertretend für die wichtigsten Markenzeichen der Post Metal-Band:

„Wir haben diesen Song als erste Single ausgewählt, weil er all unsere Facetten vereint. Ein rhythmisch komplexer Anfang, eine Blastbeat-Passage mit einem Gitarrensolo, kurze Momente der Ruhe – so bewegt sich „Old dreams of the west“ auf ein episches Finale zu. Der Text soll Menschen ermutigen, den persönlichen Horizonte zu erweitern, aus festgefahrenen Lebenssituationen auszubrechen und die eigen Einstellung zu überdenken.

 

„Breath“ erscheint am 2. Oktober 2025 als CD und LP via Moment of Collapse Records. Die Münsteraner haben das Album selbst aufgenommen, Mix und Mastering kommen von Dennis Koehne.

Mit einem Video zu „Social Contract“ stellen PRIMITIVE MAN einen ersten Song ihres neuen Albums vor.

Mit „TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)“ wird am 19. September 2025 via Interscope Records der von NINE INCH NAILS komponierte Soundtrack des Films „TRON: Ares“- ab 9. Oktober 2025 in den Kinos – erscheinen. Es ist der ersten komplette Soundtrack als Band, wenngleich die beiden Musiker Trent Reznor und Atticus Ross unter eigenem Namen bereits eine Reihe von Soundtracks geschrieben haben.

 „Der Titeltrack ‚Major Arcana‘ zeigt, wie wir als Band gewachsen sind, wir erforschen neue Ideen und verlassen unsere Komfortzone – sowohl musikalisch als auch thematisch“, erklärt Sänger Paul Kuhr im Namen der Band. „Dennoch bleiben wir uns treu. Jeder von uns hat hart an diesem Album gearbeitet. Wir sind stolz auf ‚Major Arcana‘, auf den Song und auf das ganze Album.“

Chameleons – Arctic Moon

‘Arctic Moon’ is the first full-length studio album by Chameleons in 24 years and the first to feature the current group line-up. It contains seven new songs that include the recent single ‘Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing’ STREAM   VIDEO, a re-recorded version of ‘Where Are You?’ (2024 single), plus longer compositions such as the slow-burning epic ‘David Bowie Takes My Hand’.

Although signalling something of a departure from the sound of their earlier albums, ‘Arctic Moon’ nevertheless remains rooted in the same emotional depth, spirit and intensity that has always defined their output.

“There is an obvious maturity to the songwriting on this record, and anyone familiar with our past work will hear that this is a positive step forward,” bassist and singer Vox (Mark Burgess) has previously stated. “While we’re proud of the band’s legacy, we really wanted to forge something fresh while retaining that profound and imaginative quality we’re known for. We think that we have managed to do that and deliver a very strong record!”

Chameleons have spent the summer touring on both sides of the Atlantic, with their latest headlining US trek also incorporating a dozen dates with The Psychedelic Furs. UK shows included an appearance at the Forever Now festival held at Milton Keynes Bowl, The Guardian reporting that the “gnarled angst and integrity of Manchester’s ultimate cult band remains intact.”

Another North American tour commences shortly after the release of ‘Arctic Moon’, followed by mainland European dates from late October and a previously announced UK tour in November TOUR & TICKET INFO HERE.

Long cited as a hugely influential act, having inspired the likes of (The) Verve, Oasis, Interpol, The Killers, Editors and White Lies, Chameleons are renowned for their transformative catalogue and intense, emotionally charged live performances, creating a legacy that extends far beyond their four previously issued studio albums. Their widely acclaimed debut, ‘Script of the Bridge’ (1983), has been cited by many as a masterpiece way ahead of its time, and was followed by ‘What Does Anything Mean? Basically!’ (1984), ‘Strange Times’ (1986) and ‘Why Call It Anything?’ (2001).

Their unique sound swiftly gained an audience with its mix of melancholic yet energetic and powerful tunes, hypnotic, ethereal riffs and a potent, timeless lyrical style. They are considered one of the most influential guitar bands of the ’80s and ’90s, contributing substantially to the post-punk, shoegaze and indie scenes.

2024 saw the release of two EPs that kicked off a new chapter for the band. ‘Where Are You?’ consisted of three new songs, while ‘Tomorrow Remember Yesterday’ featured five re-recorded archive tracks. The well-received ‘Saviours Are A Dangerous Thing’ was issued in late May 2025, setting the scene for ‘Arctic Moon’, an album that sees Chameleons propelling forward musically while retaining the essence that has made them iconic.
