The history of Alkonost dates back to the late 1995, when bassist Elk (who was a member of such metal bands such as Molestation, Canonis etc.) decided to start his own metal project. He conceived an idea of music which would be based on European medieval music and Russian folk melodies. These ideas appeared after Elk became acquainted with Belorussian musicians, the future members of metal band Gods Tower. They showed him different recordings of European folk and pagan music as well as their own demos and he found himself deeply impressed. [Lastfm]

Joe Budenholzer grew up in Nebraska, immersed in the rural lore and religious traditions of the region. As a boy he attended parochial school where he was taught by nuns to play guitar for folk Mass. In addition to leading a string of local bands, he also joined The Omaha Magic Theatre, an offshoot of The Open Theatre in New York, as composer in residence. He eventually left Nebraska and set out for New York City arriving in the East Village in the mid-1980s. Soon after he began participating in readings at St Mark's Poetry Project and before long he was collaborating with dance performer, Brian Moran (Blood Boy) creating sampled soundscapes for confrontational Actionist assaults. This led into the Cinema of Transgression scene where he worked with filmmakers Richard Kern, Beth B, and Tessa Hughs-Freeland, and musician J.G. Thirlwell (Foetus). Eventually a series of live collaborations with Lydia Lunch resulted, culminating in the double CD, Matrikamantra, a work of psycho-acoustic theatre in the form of a homage to Romanian philosopher/poet EM Cioran. In 1990 he enrolled in NYU's Gallatin Division, focusing on Eastern European theatre, traveling to study in Russia and Bulgaria, and later touring Poland and the Czech Republic.

Balzac is a Japanese rock band formed in 1992 in Osaka. The band was founded by singer and songwriter Hirosuke Nishiyama, who has remained the only constant member of the band since its creation.

From the beginning, Balzac was highly influenced by the sound and image of the famous horror punk band The Misfits and, especially during the very early years, Glenn Danzig's Samhain, adopting and combining the musical and visual style of both bands to create their own. To this day, they are considered by many to be the Japanese counterpart to The Misfits. Recently the band has put on a work consisting on a new sound created by them along Takeshi Ueda of The Mad Capsule Markets fame. This new sound was called "new digital horrorpunk sound" or just "digital horrorpunk" for short. It used elements of Balzac's classic sound plus an strong influence of digital hardcore, already found on a lesser degree on previous works.

The band often stays away from the "campy" horror lyrics and image found in most horror punk bands, as the lyrics by Hirosuke tend to be more like dark poetry and, though not always serious, deal with themes of darkness, loneliness and fear.

The band has gained a certain amount of recognition and exposure outside of their native country, where they are well known. Currently they have five official clothing brands (Shocker!!!, Dementia 13, Culture, XXXxxx and Balzac) with one store in Japan and one in Germany. [Lastfm]

Black Tape For a Blue Girl is an American act formed in 1986. Their music incorporates elements of dark cabaret, gothic, rock, ethereal, ambient and neo-classical music. Fronted by Projekt Records" Sam Rosenthal, the band"s lineup has changed significantly over time. The current lineup has Rosenthal on programming, guitar and keyboards, Brian Viglione (The Dresden Dolls) on percussion, guitar & bass, and vocalists Athan Maroulis (ex-Spahn Ranch), Laurie Reade (ex-Attrition) and Nicki Jaine. The most notable former member of the band is their long time vocalist, Oscar Herrera & Elysabeth Grant. Former Cellist, Mera Roberts, is currently the lead singer/multi-instrumentalist for Mercurine and Oblivia. The style of black tape for a blue girl is generally described as "gothic", though their long catalog of music does not often gel with all of the contemporary standards of gothic or darkwave music over time. Blacklist is a band from Brooklyn, New York comprised of Josh Strawn (vocals, guitar), Ryan Rayhill (bass), Glenn Maryansky (drums), and James Minor (guitar). They are one of the flagship bands of painter Pieter Schoolwerth's Wierd Records imprint. The band creates atmospheric modern rock music that has been described as "anthemic," - The Guardian UK, "darkly romantic," - The Village Voice, and "a much-needed anomaly in NYC's music scene." - Other Music. They are sometimes classified as part of the post-punk revival, though the sound is generally more dense, sonically incorporating elements of shoegaze and heavy metal with coldwave. The members often cite influences like My Bloody Valentine, Motörhead and Black Sabbath alongside bands like The Comsat Angels, Wire, Killing Joke, and The Sound.

Blacklist's first EP was self-released and is currently out of print. The Solidaire EP was then released including a cover of seminal French coldwave band Asylum Party's song "Pure Joy In My Heart." The band's debut LP, Midnight of the Century, was released digitally on May 26th, 2009 and on CD on July 28th, 2009. It was mixed by Ed Buller and mastered by Howie Weinberg. The album title is a reference to the revolutionary Victor Serge's novel, Midnight in the Century.

There has been at least two artists sharing the name Camouflage; The name is used by a German synthpop band, and a Swedish new wave band (later named Tapirerna). German: The German synthpop trio Camouflage was officially formed in 1984 by vocalist Marcus Meyn and keyboardists/programmers Heiko Maile and Oliver Kreyssig. The group took first place in a radio-sponsored song contest in 1986, and before long, their debut single, "The Great Commandment," was scaling the German charts. Their full-length debut, Voices and Images, was released in 1988, reflecting the group's classic new wave synth-pop influences, but most of all Depeche Mode. 1989's Methods of Silence began to broaden Camouflage's sonic palette, yet the Depeche Mode sound still remained at the forefront. Oliver Kreyssig then left the group, leaving Maile and Meyn as a duo augmented by several studio musicians. By the time of 1991's Meanwhile, Camouflage had garnered a not insignificant following on college radio; the album moved still farther away from synthpop and incorporated greater instrumentation. However, with the advent of grunge, synthpop lost a great deal of its footing on college radio; Camouflage soon found itself without an American record deal. 1993's Bodega Bohemia, available only as an import, moved back towards synth-oriented music and took a darker tone than much of their previous work. The mostly instrumental Spice Crackers followed in 1995, after which the future of the band was cast into doubt; a best-of compilation, We Stroke the Flames, was released in Germany in 1997. Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti formed Chris & Cosey out of the ashes of their seminal 70s industrial band Throbbing Gristle. Throbbing Gristle (and Carter/Tutti) founded the Industrial music genre and were one of the first bands to successfully fuse electronic and acoustic instrumentation.

When Throbbing Gristle was terminated in 1981, Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti signed to Rough Trade Records and began recording and performing as Chris & Cosey. From the very start they indulgently utilised electronics, sampling, rhythms and Cosey's distinctive vocals, cornet and guitar style. In 1983 they formed their own offshoot record label Conspiracy International (aka: CTI) for their more experimental recordings and collaborative projects. CTI continues to run alongside their more accessible work.

During the 1980's and 90's Chris & Cosey went on to record some of the most inventive Electronica albums, including the much sampled and remixed Trance album (1982), the Techno Pop classic October Love Song (1983) and the West Coast and Goa dance floor hit Exotika (1987).

In 1992 after many gruelling tours and for both health and artistic reasons they decided to scale down their live performances and concentrate on studio recordings.

Since their inception they have collaborated with such artists and musical luminaries as Monte Cazazza, Coil, Current 93, John Duncan, Erasure, Eurythmics, Boyd Rice, Robert Wyatt. Their music has also been remixed by Carl Craig, Cosmic Connection, Fred Giannelli, Daniel Miller, µ-Ziq, Vapourspace and Andrew Weatherall.

1). Chthonic is a Melodic Black Metal band from Taipei, Taiwan founded in 1995.

"ChthoniC's melodies can be characterized as extreme metal with a central inspiration and folklore coming from the black metal movement. ChthoniC uses the traditional Chinese stringed instrument, Er- hu, which can be compared to an eastern violin. The sound of the Er-hu is one of grief and sorrow, which ChthoniC accompanies with heavy drums, guitar strings blending into a harmony.

The music undulates and flows with the tempo of ancient mythology, and often, through lyrics, conveys an abbreviated version of a traditional myth or legend. Freddy LiM, lead vocalist, uses his voice to tear and rip melodies, using both ancient and modern language and energy which mixes easily with the music. The music swings from cool despair, to the heat of shock and anger. By wavering between these emotions ChthoniC is unparalleled in the world of black metal song composition."

While some songs have their lyrics partly or entirely written in Taiwanese, Japanese, English, or Taiwanese aboriginal languages, most of the band's songs have their lyrics written entirely in classical Chinese (with Mandarin pronunciation), which is rarely seen in contemporary Chinese music. Cinema Strange is an American deathrock group based in Los Angeles, California. Their performances also incorporate film, dance, and visual art.
The California-based Cinema Strange Project made headlines around the world this past February when they completed a 1/20th scale model of Big Ben using toothpicks, fly legs, and fingernail clippings. The unpredictable ensemble commented, "We've played music in Europe a bunch of times, we've made films about zombies and dancing military men, and we made our last album like a story book. The Big Ben model was a logical next step." The band is infamous in the North American gothic scene for their unique and theatrical stage shows, sometimes involving up to a dozen or more actors and performance artists. Their music, while originating humbly in 1994 as a high-tempo post-punk expression, has evolved into a bizarre and exciting species of musical storytelling, breaking new ground and taking over where bands like the Virgin Prunes left off. After two self-released records and two albums with the German label, Trisol, they have left an unidentifiable but very real mark on the world gothic scene, and it's anyone's guess what they'll do, or where they'll be, or who they'll claim to be next.

Clock DVA is an electronic music group from Sheffield, England. Originally formed in late 1977 by founding members Adi Newton and Steven Turner, Clock DVA were originally known for making a form of experimental electronic music. They became associated with industrial music with the 1980 release of their album White Souls in Black Suits on Industrial Records, although in reality the early material that predates this release is a blend of extreme electronics and frequencies that was heard only by a spartan few, including Jhon Balance and other notaries. (This early archive material, which includes the Sex Works Beyond Entanglement 12" EP (1979) originally planned for release by Cherry Red with the tracks Throbbing Sweeping Obscene/Coil/The Pop Hell, is due for release with a number of other extreme pure-electronic compositions and will readdress the morphology of DVA history.) The album Thirst followed in 1981, by which time Adi Newton and Steven Judd Turner had combined musique concrète techniques with guitar, bass, and drum instrumentation, fused with Newton's unique art direction and existential lyrics and writing.

After the tragic death of Steven Judd Turner, Adi Newton formed a new version of the band in 1983. First releasing the singles Passions Still Aflame and High Holy Disco Mass on the major label Polydor under the name DVA, the group then released the album Advantage (along with several singles). During a European tour a dispute amongst the musicians occurred resulting in Adi Newton disbanding the group. [Lastfm]

Crib45 is an experimental alternative metal outcome of what started out as a grunge band, but evolved into a collective group of musicians sharing one vision. An collective group of minds sharing one voice. In shorter terms and most importantly, an collective. Like every working group of musicians, there are always a driving force behind it, that keeps everything going. In Crib45 that force is the core that consists 5 constant members and around that core there are group musicians that variates based on the purpose and event. Crib45's core contrives from Janne Pappila, Matti Stenvall, Jussi Yrttiaho, Teemu Mäntynen and Ville Suovaniemi. Around that core, the collective builds up from Antti Hokkala, Sami Kurppa, Maija Sipiläinen, Salla Matusiak and varying musicians that passes the torch forward to next one. Since there are more than one path to travel, we feel that Crib45 shouldn't be tied down under one acquired band form, just like the music shouldn't be tied down under acquired verse-chorus form. At the same time we are not trying to invent the wheel again, but just trying to explore different paths while traveling our journey. After almost 10 years since the birth of the origin grunge band, our journey is still in prologue. Much is yet to come and new grounds waiting to be explored...

Crimfall is a symphonic metal/progressive power metal/viking metal/folk metal band from Finland.

Crimfall is a young soul; it came to being on a wildfire season, Autumn 2007 as one man's vision. Jakke composed a demo of three songs just for himself but he soon noticed that the material was unique, diverse and strong to stand on its own feet in front of wider audiences. What was still needed was some talent to fulfill the forceful yet melancholic music he had composed, someone to bring the stories of songs to life with voice of both beauty and power. In the end Jakke decided to bring two people to finish his line-up, voices with contrast and variance, as Mikko and Helena joined the band. So was the first recording of Crimfall born, "Burning Winds".

Napalm Records immediately took interest on this group and signed the band. Fires of creativity burned strong and a studio was booked for summer. After furious songwriting that bled the members of Crimfall dry they entered the Adamantium Studios with handful of skillful session members. Janne Jukarainen hammered the pulse of battle as Henri Sorvali supported the beat with his seasoned bass-work. Adorned with live strings, accordion and other weird instruments best left in shadows the record was finished after months of arduous campaign. World witnessed the birth of sharpened and bloodied debut album, "As the Path Unfolds..."! [Lastfm]

Cryo was started 2002 by Martin Rudefelt and he currently does all composing, performing and producing in his Cryodome studio in Malmö, Sweden. On stage, he is accompanied by Andreas Ingefjord who manages keyboards and backing vocals. Cryo creates and performs electronic music. Much focus is put on heavy basslines and drums to create a repetitive, aggressive pattern throughout the music. On top of this foundation, melodies and vocals create variation, warmth and softness. Cryo is not an attempt to create popular music that will fit inside current trends and sell lots of records. It is targeted to a relatively small group of people with an open mind. After many musical experiments, Stefan Ackermann (voices and lyrics) and Bruno Kramm (instruments, music) decided to form Das Ich in 1989. * In 1989, the band released the demo CD "Satanische Verse" and after another year their debut album "Die Propheten" on Bruno Kramm's own label, Danse Macabre. Das Ich skillfully mixed electronic, symphonic and early industrial elements into an explosive cocktail unprecedented in the often cliche ridden German music culture. Das Ich established itself with a fixed position in the scene and became the very epitome of experimental and electronic music. They are celebrated as the starting spark of a new genre of post wave, post Kraftwerk, post Neubauten era, and successfully led the way in the charts of the independent scene. Tours all over Europe strengthened the position of Das Ich, who quickly got a reputation for being "apocalyptic eccentrics", since their concerts appear to be evil and bone-jarring spectacles. * After the release of their maxi CD "Stigma" in 1993, Das Ich went off on an extended tour through all of Europe and the U.S., and in addition played at various festivals, for example the Peter Gabriel WOMAD in Hamburg, as well as at the Documenta in Kassel. * After that followed what up to now is their most compressed work as well as their least accessible, "Staub". Chilean band DIE BRAUT is born in December of year 2006, under the hand of its creator Cristian Soto Vanelli. The one that in a beginning would be a solo project and with another name, was transformed quickly into a pair, with the incorporation of a feminine figure, Katia Figueroa (Braut), being really the creative voice and of all the l'ricas. Die Braut is framed within a style Dark Electro, with influences of European and South American bands as It forces like Suicide Commando and Hocico, creating with this a tense atmosphere in its loaded compositions, rates, evolutionary melodies and dark and fast sequences. One of the excellent characteristics but of the band is the versatility and the handling of the languages, that allow them to create lyrics in German, English and Spanish, being the first maternal language of Katia, which allows him to the band quickly to be listened to in countries like Germany, Holland and Austria through contacts in Internet, Web radios and specialized magazines. Die Braut begins to work in his first musical creations, of experimental form, emphasizing within the sound concept the presence of the distorted main voice of a woman, something not very typical within this musical style. The creation of songs like "Verbrechen", "Mutter Bitte", "Hure" and "Unsehbar", they would mark to the guideline of which later would be the thematic one of first demo of Die Braut, in which subjects like the violence, the abuse and the psycological damage exerted on the woman stand out, as well as the incest, the abandonment and exerted the physical and psychological violence in the children of Chile. Dornenreich is a Melodic Black Metal band from Tyrol, Austria. The name means realm of thorns (noun) or full of thorns (adjective) in German. Founded in 1996, the band has progressed in style from black metal on their first album, Nicht um zu sterben, to what the band describes as "a vision beyond (black) metal, neofolk and ambient" on their latest works. The music on their second album, Bitter ist's dem Tod zu dienen, released in 1997, can be described as symphonic black metal with some folk and some gothic influences. After that album, drummer Moritz Neuner (also in Leaves' Eyes, Darkwell, Atrocity) left the band due to some differences with the two remaining members. Shortly after, an upcoming album with the name Hexenwind was announced, with which the band would return to a more pure black metal style. Lacrimas Profundere is a gothic rock/metal band from Germany. Lacrimas Profundere was founded in 1993 by guitarist Oliver Schmid. At the time, the band was strongly influenced by doom metal, and made use of feminine vocals and classical elements. With the entrance of vocalist Anja Hötzendorfer, they drew enough attention to themselves to be able to record their debut, entitled ...and the Wings Embraced Us, which was released in 1995 and was followed by La Naissance d'un Rêve, from 1997. After said releases, the band was granted a deal with Napalm Records which included five albums. An harpist was added to the band's line-up and they proceeded to record Memorandum (1999). Burning: A Wish from 2001 was Lacrimas Profundere's first album to receive attention from the international specialized press. This album featured the removal of the band's classical elements to some degree, and was also the first time they employed baritone vocals, supplied by Oliver's brother, Christopher Schmid. Their first international tour then began, including countries of Europe and Latin America. Lacrimas Profundere's subsequent albums were Fall, I Will Follow from 2002 and Ave End from 2004. Recently their newest albums has been brought in the shops: Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts. Again, the formula of heavy guitars and the low smooth voice of the leadsinger brings a nice soothing sound. In 2007 there ocurred some line-up changes, including the departure of the vocalist Christopher Schmid (who aleged stress problems to leave the band). Les Discrets is the musical approach of Fursy Teyssier's artistic research. His paintings, music or lyrics are mostly about Nature, the feeling of Love and his fear of Death.

Love is Colder Than Death, commonly abbreviated LiCTD or LICTD, is an early German heavenly voices / neoclassical / neo-medieval band that was one of the corner stones to Hyperium Record's Heavenly Voices compliation series of the early 1990s. The bands music is characterized by its extensive use of both romantic and classical styled male and female vocals. Founded by Ralf Donis, Maik Hartung, Sven Mertens, and Susann Heinrich in 1990, the band members and music have changed slightly. The first few LICTD albums were released on the Hyperium record label in Europe and on the new Metropolis Records label in the United States.

The band's album Teignmouth was the first Metropolis Records release, and remains one of LICTD's more popular albums. Following the departure of Donis, the more experimental songs that characterized some of the early LICTD work gave way to a much more classical sound. Eclipse, the latest LICTD album with new content, reached number on Mexican New Age Sales Charts.

The Mediæval Bæbes are an English ensemble of female musicians founded by Miranda Sex Garden member Katharine Blake in London in 1996, featuring some of her MSG cohorts as well as other friends who share her love of medieval music. The lineup often rotates from album to album, and ranges from 6to 12 members.

The Bæbes's first album, Salva Nos (1997), shot straight to No 2 in the classical charts, a silver disc. Subsequent albums include Worldes Blysse (which went straight to No 1), Undrentide, (co-produced by John Cale), The Rose, and the Christmas-themed album Mistletoe & Wine.

Mirabilis (2005), was launched at a concert and party in London, August 2005. A self-titled DVD was released in July 2006. The first 300 preorders were autographed by the band and received a special mention in the DVD credits.

A live album was be released in December 2006 and featured two bonus studio tracks, An Itunes exclusive was also launched which added tracks not featured on the cd release and at this time still remain exclusive so is well worth tracking down.

The new album entitled Illumination was released via preorder on the bands website in Oct 2008 and as an added incentive to fans features two bonus tracks not included on the regular wholesale edition which has a Spring 2009 official release date. There has been concerns over the mastering of the album from fans which could account for the delayed release dates.

In 1993, Oliver Wand, along with Guido Adolphi, founded Obscenity Trial. It was the cornerstone for a future development that nobody would have predicted. After a 6 year separation, 2004 saw the band reborn — and finally releasing it's debut album, "Here and Now". More than a simple statement, the album is the exclamation behind the band's remarkable history. Produced by legendary electronics wizard Olaf Wollschlaeger (Melotron, In Strict Confidence, Seabound, Vorsprung dur Technik), the album contains their own singular brand of genre-straddling electropop. Given the timespan, the press found itself often wondering how this band had escaped their radar for so long. Fans received a similar treat when Obscenity Trial was picked to be the opening act on And One's 2006 "Bodypop" tour. The album also appeared on numerous compilations, as well as making an appearance on the German "Gamestar" magazine DVD (with a circulation of over 300,000!). Their stunning cover of the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" was both a tremendous club single, and an example of how their sound stretches across traditional boundaries. In 2007, the band returned to the studio, working with Olaf Wollschlaeger once again to create the "Daydream" EP. Released on Infacted Recordings / Soulfood, it contains 6 brand new O.T. tracks, as well as 4 club-stomping remixes. October Tide is a melodic death/doom metal band which was formed in Sweden in 1995 by Jonas Renkse and Fredrik Norrman (of Katatonia). They released two full-length albums: Rain Without End (recorded in 1995, yet released only in 1997 on Vic Records) and Grey Dawn (1999, originally on Avantgarde, re-issued in 2007 via Peaceville) before disbanding because their "inspiration ran dry" and because Renkse & Norrman decided to fully concentrate on Katatonia instead.

In late 2009 however, despite staunchly refusing the notion of future material for an astounding 11 years, Fred Norrman announced he was leaving Katatonia and had reformed October Tide. Joining him were Tobias Netzell (of In Mourning) on vocals, Robin Bergh on drums and Jonas Kjellgren as a session bassist (for album recordings only). Original co-member Jonas Renkse was no longer participating in October Tide. A brand new full-length album entitled A Thin Shell was released in the autumn of 2010. Meanwhile Emil Alstermark (guitar) and Pierre Stam (of In Mourning, bass) have joined the band on a permanent basis.

ORCHIS is an English Dark Folk band consisting of Tracy Jeffery (Cunnan, SQE), Amanda Prouten and Alan Trench (Cunnan, SQE, Twelve Thousand Days(with Martyn Bates), Temple Music) They have released four albums to date starting in 1994 : The Dancing Sun, A Thousand Winters, Mandragora and Trait (a 'best of' released through the Russian Brudenia label). After a gap of some years they released the new 'Other Days' download ep via the Woven Wheat Whispers legal folk download service in 2007. Trench was a founding member of the now defunct World Serpent Distribution,and the first two albums and a 7" single (He Walks In Winter) was released via them on their own Cryptanthus label, with Mandragora on the German Trisol label. They have contributed to many compilation albums, with some tracks turning up on the 'Trait' album.
The sound is slightly out of kilter acoustic instruments mixed with electronic experimentation and ethereal/heavenly vocals, and the song themes seem to be mainly pagan in origin, with a distinct leaning towards ancient Greek deities - also a theme in Trench's Temple Music project. [Lastfm]

Like all great civilisations, the history of Performance contains blood, love, disease and a great amount of dancing. Record deals and members come and go, but Performance remains. As sure as eggs are eggs, these childhood friends come together every couple of years, only to be torn apart by inter-band romance (2005), drugs (2003), mental illness (2006), an international book deal (2007). It's a wonder they can even wipe the tears from their eyes each morning. But, in actual fact, they're fairly cheerful. They're drawn to each other, like relatives to a funeral. They enjoy the misery and the ecstasy of english pop.

Since releasing their debut album '(we are) Performance' in 2007, the band have been elsewhere. Joe Stretch is an internationally published novelist. He published his debut novel 'Friction' (Vintage/Random House) in 2008 and his second, 'Wildlife' (Vintage/Random House), in 2009. He is currently working on his third, provisionally titled, 'One Hit Wonder'.

Joe Cross and Laura Marsden, meanwhile, founded the band Kiss in Cities and are working towards the completion of a debut album. Joe Cross has been working as a producer/songwriter, helping to develop, among others, Hurts (Sony).

Over the past two years they have convened periodically to write and record the second Performance album, 'Red Brick Heart'. The process was, as ever, a little dramatic. But the results were decent and, having secured a record deal, Performance are exiting their unfortunate lives in order to tweak the nose of the mainstream, after which, no doubt, they will auto-annihilate gleefully and return to their downbeat lives in the suburbs and centre of Manchester. The band started in 2006 as Irvin Scabtree and Pressit at the age of only 17, released a 12 song debut record entitled Take Me, Break Me, Make Me Pretty. The album set the tone for things to come with a monstrous electro-rock sound featuring Pressit's chunky guitar riffs complemented by Scabtree's propensity for electronic hooks.

2008 saw the band fill out with drummer, The Pull-Out Method, lead guitarist Uncle Daddy, and bassist C-Man being added to the fold. The newly minted quintet's sound took on a more aggressive feel while maintaining a nerd-pop electronic resonance. The new outfit caught the interest of famed producer Dave Ogilvie (NIN, Marilyn Manson, Skinny Puppy) who was a perfect match for the band. After two long months in the studio, Raggedy Angry completed their highly anticipated second record Pestilence. Following the release of Pestilence, the boys caught the attention of fellow Toronto based band The Birthday Massacre and were asked to support them on their European tour in the spring of 2009. The tour hit up all the major markets and provided the band with a strong foothold with fans and critics alike across the Atlantic. Recoil is the project of Alan Wilder, formerly a member of Depeche Mode. Born on 1st June 1959, he is a classically-trained musician and renowned contemporary music producer.

Recoil was born in 1986 as a two-track experimental EP. Simply entitled '1 + 2', this collection of primitive demos caught the attention of Mute Records label boss Daniel Miller and was inconspicuously released as a mini-album on 12" vinyl. An album, 'Hydrology', soon followed in 1988 and both were eventually re-issued by Mute on CD as 'Hydrology plus 1+2'. These early Recoil recordings revealed Alan's position as a pioneer in the newly emerging world of sampling technology and demonstrated how he could turn the Depeche sound around to create something entirely new. Wilder described the project at the time as "... an antidote to Depeche Mode; a way to alleviate the frustrations of always working within a pop format".

Almost immediately, Wilder found himself back in the studio to record what would become the most successful Depeche Mode album to date,'Violator'. It wasn't until the band finally allowed themselves an extended break after the enormously successful 'World Violation' tour that Alan could return to Recoil - not, however, before agreeing to produce 'Ebbhead', an album for label-mates Nitzer Ebb. It was during this time that he cemented a working relationship with lead singer Douglas McCarthy who would return the favour by singing on Recoil's next album,'Bloodline'. [Lastfm]

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry (commonly referred to simply as "The Lorries") is a gothic rock band formed by guitarist/songwriter Chris Reed and vocalist Mark Sweeney, along with bassist Steve Smith and drummer Mick Brown (who would later join The Mission). Sweeney left the band in late 1981 and Reed permanently took over as vocalist, with Martin Fagan joining as a second guitarist. The group's sound, featuring a numbing guitar drone, powerfully throbbing drums, and Reed's cavernous vocal tones, caused the Lorries (as their fans came to call them) to be quickly lumped into the then-developing gothic rock scene by pop journalists, although the band themselves preferred to cite Killing Joke and Wire as influences. The use of a drum machine seems to have been a determining feature of bands coming out of Leeds, England (the Sisters of Mercy and The Three Johns are other examples). In 1982, independent record label Red Rhino signed the band based on the strength of some of the group's demos. Their first single "Beating My Head" made a strong appearance on the influential New Musical Express (NME) independent record chart. Fagan and Smith soon departed the band, to be replaced by Dave Wolfenden and Paul Southern respectively. Tactical Sekt is an electro-industrial act consisting of Anthony Mather (USA - Vocals, Keyboards, Programming), Marco Gruhn (Germany - Live Synths) and Jay Taylor (UK - Live Drums). They are known for their powerful, noisy, dark electronic sound similar to Suicide Commando or Hocico.

Tactical Sekt was conceived in the mind of Anthony Mather in about 2002/2003. Mather previously had experience with elektro-industrial music in his former band, Aslan Faction.

After some time, Aslan Faction stopped performing live and making new music, which persuaded Anthony Mather to devote himself totally to Tactical Sekt. The album "Geneticide" was soon put out and it featured, as Ant said in one interview: "...mostly songs that didn't fit into Aslan Faction music profile...".

Soon after "Geneticide" in 2003, "Burn Process" was released. The music and the atmosphere was much more euro-trance alike, emphasizing that Aslan Faction days were over.

In the following years Tactical Sekt were mostly performing live and doing remixes for other acts.

In spring 2006, a new album was coming out - "Syncope." It featured 13 tracks, and besides the regular album, a limited edition was published which featured never released tracks, mostly from the "Geneticide" period.

In August of 2010, the band announced that after a long wait, a new album was in the works. There is no working title yet released. [Lastfm]

Terminal Choice is a German synth rock band formed in 1993 by singer Chris Pohl (also of Blutengel, Tumor, Pain of Progress and owner of the Fear Section label). Their lyrics are divided fairly equally between German and English. Originally their sound was primarily gloomy electronic music, but the guitars introduced in the 1998 album Navigator gave the band a harder rock edge. Besides Chris, the original lineup included Jens Gärtner who provided the drums and loops. In 1997, Manuel Selling was added to the lineup to provide the guitars. In 2000, Manuel left the band and Gordon Mocznay took over on guitar and bass guitar. A year later in 2001, Louis Manke joined the band as well, adding a second guitar to the band. Terminal Choice is currently Chris Pohl"s main and most well-known project, and they have enjoyed great success both in Germany and abroad, and are often compared to and sometimes referred to as a precursor to another popular German industrial-stomp band, Rammstein. The success of Terminal Choice has also transferred to the other members of Terminal Choice, as Chris helped Gordon form his own band known as Mordorn and also helped Louis form a band named Staubkind. Despite being involved with numerous bands, all members are still creating music with Terminal Choice and a new album with the title "New Born Enemies" was released on the 28th of july, in 2006. The Foreshadowing rushed themselves into the abyss of the world in the fall of 2005. The idea takes its origins away back in 1997 by a load of necropolitan fragments of music picked up by Alessandro Pace (aka Alex Vega with Dope Stars Inc., ex Klimt 1918 & Spiritual Front), founder of the band. His friends Andrea Chiodetti (guitar player of Grimness and ex Spiritual Front) and Francesco Sosto (keyboard player, ex Spiritual Front and Klimt 1918 sessionman) joined him soon. The trio, active from 1999, decided to put up a gothic-doom metal band with some epic and aethereal sonorities in a modern and original style and attitude, but for several reasons due to difficulties in finding right members to play with, they remained a band in the embryonic stages. This until 2006, when they were joined by drummer player Jonah Padella(Grimness), Davide Pesola (Klimt 1918) on bass and, at last, by Marco Benevento (singer of How Like a Winter) who perfectly fulfilled the line-up.
The Foreshadowing aim is to bring you into an atom-sphere of apocalyptic tragedy and alienation from humanity and everyday life with a moody and powerful music. "We don't feel part of this world and we don't need to believe in any creed, convention or lifestyle. We just wait for a right end of this wrong and cruel world". The first full-length album "Days of Nothing" was recorded between Howitzer studio & Subsound studio in Rome and was mixed during autumn 2006 at Outer Sound Studio (Rome, Italy) by Giuseppe Orlando (Novembre). The band started in 1982 as one of Leeds' four famous 'drum machine bands'. The other three being Merciful Release labelmatesThe Sisters of Mercy, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and The Three Johns.

Fronted by the two pronged attack of dual vocalists Simon D and Rosie Garland, the band built a large and loyal following throughout the UK and Europe. They released five singles/EP's, first on Merciful Release then on their own Rebirth label...culminating in the successful indie chart topping Snakedance and Walk Into The Sun.

After waiting nearly thirty years for the album to become obsolete, they have decided that now is the time to reform and record their first proper album...and perhaps do some more live shows to showcase the new material.

1. The danish duo The Storm is Pernille Rosendahl (lead vocal, former Swan Lee) and Johan Wohlert (bass, former Mew). Debutalbum: "Where The Storm Meets The Ground". Produced by Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, Smashing Pumpkins). Label: Universal.

2. The Storm was an American rock group, formed in the Bay Area of San Francisco during the early 1990s. The band was also considered to be the second formation of Journey, since it featured three of Journey's former members (two of whom were founding members) - Gregg Rolie (keyboards, vocals), Ross Valory (bass), and Steve Smith (drums).

The Storm's lineup also included: Kevin Chalfant (lead vocals) and Josh Ramos (who cited Journey founder and guitarist Neal Schon as a major influence) as lead guitarist.

Rolie was the most instrumental in putting The Storm together. He had collaborated on material with Kevin Chalfant and sent the track Show Me The Way to producer Beau Hill, who was heavily involved with Interscope Records at the time.

Interscope became seriously interested in the project that had become The Storm by 1991 with Rolie and Smith fully involved. Josh Ramos was the last to join the fold.

The Storm's debut album, self-titled and released in 1991 by Interscope, was produced by Beau Hill. It rose to #3 on the Billboard Chart, scoring two radio-friendly hits in 1991 with I've Got a Lot to Learn About Love and Show Me the Way.

Their follow-up album, 1995's "Eye Of The Storm", was issued through the major UK independent label Music For Nations, was completed with the aid of session musicians drummer Ron Wikso of Foreigner and Bob Marlette. "Eye Of The Storm" did not fare as well as their debut CD. [Lastfm]

Anthony Charles "Tony" Wakeford is an English folk and neoclassical musician who primarily records under the name Sol Invictus.
Wakeford was the bassist for the English political punk band Crisis from 1977 until the band's termination in 1980. He then formed Death in June with Crisis guitarist Douglas Pearce and Patrick Leagas (currently a member of Mother Destruction). Wakeford was asked to leave Death In June after recording the Burial album in 1984, but remained on good terms with Pearce, appearing on stage with him much later. He formed Above the Ruins and recorded one album, Songs of the Wolf before disbanding the group in favour of a period of restful study. After devoting a short period to magical and political interests, he formed Sol Invictus in 1987.
